Its the only real bike shop in Jefferson City. So and that aspect its good, but it is Jefferson City and not like one of the many bike shops in St Louis, Granada Cyclery, big shark, Maplewood bicycle, excetera

I called Red Wheel Bike Shop last week looking for a specific bike that was really hard to find in this day & age of COVID, and thankfully they still had it in stock, and offered to hold it for me as I told them Id buy it. I live in Oklahoma City, which is a long drive to pick up a bike, as you have to pay in-person, and they dont ship. Totally understandable.That being said, my Mom drove from Kansas City to pick up the bike while I was en-route, and while they followed through on holding the bike, I was extremely disappointed to hear the service and treatment my mother received from an employee named Nick.First off, unfortunately her GPS had led her astray, and so she called the shop to try to get helpful directions to get her to the shop. The help? Well, were in a brick building. Its the only one on W. Main St. (Or something akin to that nature). My Mom eventually made it there, and was able to make contact to purchase the bike.She paid cash, was handed the bike, and basically a here ya go. No Thank you for your business, Thank you for choosing Red Wheel, Would you like help loading the bike, etc. Shes 5-2, and 65 years old! She attempted to load the bike on her bike rack, went back to express that she was having trouble, and inquired if maybe he had any ideas on what she could do to get it mounted on the bike rack properly. He offered ZIP TIES, and when she asked if that would mar or mark up the finish? Yeah, probably. As if he couldnt be bothered to help a customer that had just bought an expensive bike from his place of employment.She was eventually able to get it mounted and home, no thanks to Nick S. If this is how an employee treats a customer without even a THANK YOU, I would be saddened and embarrassed. This belies the ratings I had read previous to my own experience.

Was bikepacking the Katy when my colleague had some wheel issues. Stopped in to the shop late in the day. The guy working admitted up front that he was a novice mechanic and that the main mechanic had already gone home. We were good with that and he proceeded to offer us a free beverage. In the middle of the repair he had to help some other customers, which I completely understand, but he felt bad anyway and offered another free beverage. In addition to doing a great job on the repair he made some awesome recommendations on places to visit while in town.

Great service. Helped fit my wife with a bike a few years ago. Have always taken time for my questions without making me feel like a newbie (which I am).

Red Wheel has always been friendly and supportive, rather I drop in to ask a question, drop off a bike for repair and maintenance or drop in to buy a brand new bike. I appreciate their kindness and I trust their work, opinions and expertise!

I recently purchased my first TREK from Red Wheel. The guys were great, always quick to answer any questions or concerns I had. They helped me pick out the perfect fit for my ability and budget. I stopped in about 2-3 times a month for about 3 months before making my purchase and I felt welcome every time. They were never pushy or annoyed. Also after purchasing I ran my old bike down for a tube up ( not a trek, or high dollar) and they cleaned it right up and made sure it was great for the next rider. Totally recommend them!!!

I went to Red Wheel Bike Shop in December 2019, in search for a ladies bike for Christmas for my wife, as she has been riding “garage sale find” bikes for years. Nick was extremely helpful in finding what I thought she wanted. He never pressured me in any way and was more than happy to order the bike I wanted for her, even though he already had one in stock in a different color. She was extremely pleased with the bike. Fast forward to February, 2020, I decided to upgrade my big box store bike. I went to Walt’s and Cyclex in Columbia to compare what Nick was offering at Red Wheel in Jeff City. After shopping around, I went back to Red Wheel and bought a Trek Marlin 6 for myself. A big thanks to Nick for his service, knowledge, and professionalism! I highly recommend Red Wheel Bike Shop and Trek to anyone.

These guys are awesome!! I bought a beautiful purple bike from them. They installed the extra goodies on the bike for me as well. I have rented a bike from them a couple times now and the quality is top notch!! I did not have a bike rack yet so they delivered the new bike to my house along with the rental for the weekend. Very friendly staff and extremely helpful. I was a little shy about things at first because I have not ridden a bike in years but the warmth and genuine happiness about this cute shop quickly erase all worries!! This place is a must see place because its also in a cool restored building just down the street from the state capital!!! The inviting atmosphere encourages you to hang out a while and talk bike. I did not sit to grab a drink yet but I have seen others mosey up to the service counter and share great bike stories!! Come join the Redwheel family ... you wont be disappointed!!!

Great, immediate service. I especially appreciate Danes recommendation as to new tires, the adjustment of my wifes handlebars to make her ride more relaxed, and the fact that purchasing the Fargo has gotten me back into biking. If you are riding the Katy trail, they are a must-stop place as they are super handy to the route and the bike store itself is really nice (AND next door to a coffee shop).

We could not be happier with Nick and Red Wheel Bike Shop. We chose to ride the KATY this summer in spite of the flood damage. Thanks to Nick, we got trail info, very profesional shuttles around some closures where we opted off the highway, a couple of needed bike repairs, great tee shirts and cold beers at the shop. Also helpful local information for the night we spent in Jeff City. Red Wheel helped us salvage a Clinton to St Charles trip that would have been more hassle without Nicks help and advice. Bought a bike less than a month ago. Love the bike, have taken it back twice for adjustment at no charge and staff have been friendly and helpful.

Great little bike shop. I went in and they were very helpful. Im not very serious when it comes to biking. I just want a good bike to do some easy rides here and there. They listened and worked with me to find a bike that I could take on a simple trail or ride around town. Then they sized me for it. They give free maintenance for simple stuff like greasing and what not for life if you buy from them!!!

After reading a review about Red Wheel Bike Shop’s shuttle service on the bike Katy Trail site, I made a call to see about a shuttle from Cooper’s Landing to Hartsburg. Nick was great – knowledgeable about trail conditions, helpful about possible detours, but after discussion we opted for the shuttle service. Due to rain, we did not make it to Cooper’s Landing, but Nick picked us up at McBaine instead. And due to rain, we called it a day and he took us to our hotel in Jefferson City. Cannot speak highly enough about Nick and his service. If I lived closer to Jefferson City, I guarantee I’d be a loyal shopper at Red Wheel Bike.

Broke a spoke just before coming across the bridge from the Katy Trail. They fixed me right up while I had an IPA, looked around the shop and talked about bikes and cycling. I live an hour from Jeff city, my fault not their,s. Had them install 2 new tubes and tires on my rims. I was cleaning and inspecting bike rims prior to installation. I noticed that the tires are directional tread as indicatedby the directional arrow. The tires were mounted to rotate in the wrong direction of rotation. Attention to detail is needed on this particular item. I,m sure it does not matter which direction of rotation these tires go but I do ponder these 2 questions:1. The bike shop employee told it would be ok to ride the bike despite what the directional arrow indicates.2. Why did I catch this error and not the bike shop?3. Another 130 round trip to make it right at my expense.Lesson learned. Inspect prior to leaving the shop

I took a couple of bikes in when they were on Edgewood, and there was really good turn around time on repair. Accessories seemed a little pricey, but the service itself is reasonable. Since they moved, I havent been back. They were the only shop near the Greenway and four miles closer to me, so it was a bummer when they packed up.

Very helpful, and no pressure buying experience. Ive bought two bikes from them now and would recommend this shop to anyone looking to get into cycling.

When I broke a derailleur on the Katy Trail, these guys provided immediate attention and stayed open late to realign my hanger, install a new derailleur, and get me back on the road before closing for the weekend.

These guys are knowledgeable and the service is great!
