I really enjoy Gias food and their vibe, and the staff is wonderful. Ive ordered tea a few times from there, and have been disappointed that the large tea only has a single tea bag. A single tea bag is for 8oz of water, so a large (16oz of water) should have two tea bags, otherwise Im only paying more money for more water, which shouldnt cost anything and just ends up diluting the tea. I will still be going there for food, but I do hope that they change this.

To the staff working this Saturday morning, thank you for being so amazing! I have tried countless breakfast places and this is only the second time ever that the chef took the time to actually make my eggs over medium. The lady at the front also remade my latte because she felt it was sitting out too long and got cold. I cant believe it took me so long to try this place!

The food was just okay. I got a coffee from them on my way to work, and it was pretty decent. I dont know if I would come back cuz I usually brew my own coffee at home, but it was pleasant. The prices are a little high though. I think I paid about 9 bucks for a coffee and a bagel.

The first thing I noticed, is how immaculately clean their facility is. Although there main business seems to be Gelato, I have only purchased Breakfast and coffee there. Staff is very nice and friendly and all food (which I believe is made to order) is delicious and served in a timely manner.

During quarantine went out of food supplies and decided to order breakfast delivery from Gia Gelato & Cafe. They have done a good job!!! I ordered 2x2x2, bagel, and cappuccino it arrived FRESH and DELICIOUS! Definitely recommended 👍

Breakfast was decent, but you expect more for the price. Smoothies are worst - all made of concentrate. Service was good, though the unfriendly lady is better to run the place from the backoffice. The interiors are not good. Overall - would not go again. It has family-run ‘vibes’ but needs more attention to details and to match the price level with the quality.

The staff is so friendly and the food was so delicious. Not to mention their iced coffee was really good too. Definitely a pleasant breakfast for someone who is not from the area.

This restaurant is so unprofessional its disgusting! As a reasonable person I tried understanding the mistake they had done by not taking down something from their website which led me to believe I was ordering what I saw. When receiving my order it was not what the website showed and mention so I called and was just told sorry and cant do anything! so as for me getting the food I wanted I basically was forced to pay 21$ and was so not satisfied. Food is disgusting too

I came here on a weekend and two women were super friendly. The place is clean and an array of delicious pastries including gelato and coffee. The food was delicious and such an awesome friendly staff. Great place to hang out with loved ones and friends.

I get breakfast here all the time. Everyone is really friendly and the food is always on point. I havent tried it, but they also have WiFi and looks like a nice spot to bring a laptop and get some work done.

Enjoyable staff and their fare is fantastic.. Great breakfast menu, awesome sandwiches, as well as amazing soups. Definitely try the shrimp corn chowder when its on their menu. Their gelato is also top notch.

Pretty good variety of breakfast foods. Only place nearby that you can get some pancakes which is great when youre in the mood for some. It takes a little long to get food and is just a bit pricy but its a great option to have in the neighborhood. I havent tried the gelato yet but my girlfriend has and she really liked it.

I ordered from them one day on Uber eats, I was so impressed with the food and presentation! Its soooo fresh, today I decided to go down there and check it out myself I got take out and to my surprise, when I got home and opened my food the avacado toast had tomatoes and onions on it. It was so delicious! I think they didnt have too much avacado left so they substituted to make it more full. This place is deff gonna be on my top for breakfast for a while thank you!

My first time here at Gia Gelato and Cafe and it was awesome! Please Read!I came today (August 25, 2018 in the afternoon) to jersey city from Manhattan from the yellow ferry. When I arrived I had a crave for coffee and baked goods. So I googled nearby bakery in the area and pratos bakery showed up so I went there to eat.When I got to pratos bakery their was a hispanic guy and a chubby hispanic woman behind the counter. I ordered a coffee and she proceeded to make the coffee. I then went to look at the display to pick a baked good to eat with my coffee and to my surprise and disgust I saw tiny flies INSIDE the food display walking on the baked goods! YUCK! I also saw 2 or 3 adult sized black house flies flying around in the area where the workers work.I REFRAINED from ordering any food from pratos bakery...DISGUSTING! I was not sure if the tiny flies were fruit flies or baby house flies. GROSS!!! I thought this place was a decent place to eat and BOY was I wrong! They literally had the display cases open on their side and thats how the flies flew in and walking on the food! YUCK!I paid for my coffee which was like one dollar and ninety something change and left. The two staff there however were nice, but no matter how nice they are, this is a health violation and just disgusting for them to to run a bakery with flies walking on the food. So inconsiderate to the customer!I was disappointed as I wanted to eat baked goods with my coffee so I left pratos bakery and not knowing where I was going because my first time in this area....I walked further down a street and saw a place across the street called Gia Gelato & Cafe. It was nearby some Italian place. I crossed the street with my bike and saw they sale baked goods and as I proceeded to go into their location two women were walking out and I asked them if I can come in and buy and they said yes. I brought my bike inside and they were so nice an asian girl and an african american woman. I walked to their counter and saw that their food was COVERED and NO FLIES ANYWHERE!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I ordered their last coffee cake and a croissant as their is a small minimum to use a credit card. I told the woman that I just came from pratos bakery and that they had tiny flies walking on their baked goods and I was upset because I wanted to drink my coffee with baked goods but did not order there as a result. The woman was nice and she gave me a cinnamon roll free of charge and heated it for me. I got lucky because they were going to close early to go to some nearby festival today that was nearby. So I paid the lady and thanked them and she told me to please come again at a later date. I was so happy and I went outside and ate my food with my coffee and ate the cinnamon roll she gave me and it was soooo good and gooey and the croissant was so delicious and moist! Yummy!!! The coffee cake I brought back with me because it was to much food to eat in one sitting so I will eat later.Thank you Gia Gelato & Cafe fro coming to my rescue and having the courtesy to maintaining a CLEAN establishment for your workers! If I ever owned a bakery or cafe, I would ENSURE my eatery place is kept clean with no flies for my customers!

Good cafe in downtown JC!I have come here a few times now and have tried a few of there breakfast and lunch items. Let me start by saying the coffee is awesome and you get a medium to large cup standard. The one item I ordered that I was a bit effy about was the buffalo wrap. Even though I thought it was still good, it was a bit overpowering with the blue cheese I thought. Other items I have tried are sweet potato fries, bagels, turkey bacon, and various other wraps. I am yet to try there infamous Nutella pancakes; yum maybe next time.The staff is very friendly and very welcoming. This is not a bad place to come do some work or light reading. There is free wifi. The one thing that sucks is you have to pay for parking unless you live in the area and/or come on Sundays.

Nice ice cream/gelato shop with some interesting flavors. Champaign with rose pedal, maple with bacon, and coffee flavors are some of my favorites.

I didn’t like the lady’s attitude, i think she’s the onwner, but still, what a terrible customer service; I didn’t feel welcome. And, I will never come back to this place.

I had really high expectations for this place, mainly due to all of the awesome Yelp reviews it got. Sadly, I was disappointed.My boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday at around 1. The place had a smattering of people, most who seemed like they were for the free wifi more than anything else. After I tried the food, I could see why. It wasnt horrible but it was just mediocre, at best. Its nothing I couldnt get at a random deli somewhere.The way Gia Gelato works is you go in, order and pay at the counter, grab a table, and someone will bring you your food. One thing I should mention about the ordering is that their menus say 10% student discount. But when I mentioned it, they didnt honor it because they said it was an old menu, which I think was a tad shady. They did honor the 10% off Yelp check-in though so in the end, it made no difference.I had the philly cheesesteak, which had grilled onions and peppers, and mozzarella cheese. But what the menu failed to mention was that it also had some weird creamy ketchup mixture in it (or maybe the cheese just made it have this weird consistency?) It was not a good surprise. Im okay with ketchup but not really with my philly. However, the seasoned fries I ordered on the side were pretty good. I actually liked this better than the sandwich.My boyfriend had the Gia Metro (grilled chicken breast, applewood bacon, avocado, mixed greens, chipotle sauce). This was just a regular chicken sammie. Nothing I couldnt make at home, if not make better.Their coffee was not bad but theyre kept in thermoses similar to those of a gas station, so not really sure how long thats been there. But then again, I guess thats not really speaking volumes of me if I actually liked it.The main reason why I bookmarked this place was for their gelato, which they didnt have any of (which is okay, because I wasnt really in a gelato-y mood that day). Maybe thats what theyre really known for and why they earned all of the Yelp stars. I really do want to go back and try it, but I think Ill pass on the food next time.

Dont go here. Instead, go to Toricos for great icecream and gelato, on First Street and Erie.The staff is rude. I was having an important meeting with a client. Oddly, the TV played loudly and then softly, which was incredibly weird and irritating. When I asked the staff to lower the TV. I was yelled at. When I asked to turn off the TV, again, I was scolded. They said, We do not know how to turn off the TV.All this probably had to do with the staff member wanting to watch TV at the expense of customers happiness. Only three people were there: me, a client, and another person on a laptop. We left. With that kind of callous customer service, theyll probably go out of business in no time.If you want good ice cream/gelato, go to Toricos on First and Erie, only two blocks away. There, the icecream is to die for and the staff are fantastic.

Great self-serve, fresh drip coffee thats refilled often or they can make you lattes and cappuccinos, etc. The breakfast is amazingly delicious and the staff is super friendly, even when its really morning and youre standing there being indecisive.
