Where do I start, I’ve heard so many good things about this shop and finally had the chance to try them out and discover for myself that they. we’re. all. true!The server was so warm and welcoming- explained the portions quickly and coached us through flavors, recommendations to 4 delightful combos for 2 adults and 2 kids.We ordered everything from vanilla and hazelnut to matcha oreo with midnight cocoa with activated charcoal 😃 (pictured).We each enjoyed every bite and couldn’t stop talking about the rich, creamy, vibrant flavors.Can’t wait to visit again and try some more limited editions as they create new flavors each week and share about them on social.

A little shop in the Hamilton Park area of Jersey City. They are only open 5 days a week and it is a small shop… just enough space for one family to go in to make an order. You can order a cone or a cup with toppings (although I think it’s a shame to put toppings on top of the ice cream here). They also sell brownies (they have some frozen so you can enjoy them at a later date after a 1 hour defrost), pints of their current flavors, ice cream sandwiches, and a bit more. I think cakes have to be preordered.The ice cream I guess you would classify as gourmet as these are not straightforward flavors. So if you only like classic vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, etc… this might not be the place for you… a place like Torico (another really good ice cream shop in Jersey City) has what you want. If you enjoy complex flavor mixes or just enjoy ice cream, you have to visit.I had the Gaby, Earl Grey fudge, Honey Lavender, and Lemon Olive Oil. A 2 scoop cup will let you try up to 4 flavors. All the flavors are fantastic. I especially loved the Gaby which was Matcha ice cream and dolce de luche blended together.I am definitely coming back for more.

LOVE this small but mighty ice cream shop! Because the ice cream is made in small batches, there’s real attention to detail and quality ingredients (the midnight cocoa, pictured here tasted just like a dark chocolate brownie!). And as someone with celiac, there are plenty of options. Worth going out of your way for a scoop if you find yourself in downtown Jersey City!

Absolutely love this ice cream spot! Been coming here since 2016 and it’s my absolute favorite spot to go to for ice cream. All their flavors are unique but my personal favorites are charcoal chocolate, cookie malt, earl grey fudge, and I think they sold carrot cake ice cream before which was absolutely delicious! I usually pair up all my ice creams with their house made red velvet cone which is also delicious! I also used to buy their matcha brownies but sadly, they no longer sell it— hopefully they will again in the future as a special!Overall, place is great and my only complaint is the last pint of ice cream I bought. Their pints are about $12 each which is worth the price! However, I recently bought a pint of cookie malt and it must’ve been a bad batch as it tasted nowhere near cookie malt! :( It tasted very savory rather than sweet and creamy. I was very disappointed as it was not edible!

We love this place. They always have interesting flavors and the ice cream is just rich and delicious. It may seam pricy but 100% worth it. Definitely get a few different flavors and share!

Love their ice-cream but can not deal with them opening at whatever time they feel like opening. Online says 11am and their door says 12pm. Went to pick up some ice-cream at 2:15 and they werent opened. Today was the 3rd time that they were not opened at any of the times posted. I also have friends that complained about the same thing. The ice-cream is fantastic but I rather go where they open when they say they are open as people plan their day around the hours businesses have posted. Call before planning any ice-cream visit to this place. But they might of lost a customer in me.

Milk Sugar Love is our all time favorite place for ice cream in Jersey City (and beyond)! You can’t go wrong with any of the flavors and we never miss a chance to try their weekend specialty flavors. The people are great, too - very friendly and happy to help.

We got in-line at 9:45pm when they close at 10pm. The young lady behind the counter was very rude when it was our turn to go in at 10:03pm. She wouldn’t serve us nor sell us the to-go pints. We didn’t even try to get a chance to sample their wares. A little background, we traveled from out of town to have dinner near by and try this spot. Had dinner not taken 3 hours, we would’ve made it in time. The fact that they weren’t trying to accommodate us nor treat us with any type of GOOOD customer service, let’s me know that this type of business is not worth supporting.

Dreamy ice cream shop located across from Hamilton park with rotating flavors. Flavors are equally great in a cone or a milkshake. My personal favorites are Raspberry Rose & Marscapone Berry, but any of the limited weekend flavors made by Emma are worth the hype!

Unbelievable, staff is completely rude and disrespectful. After waiting in a 10 min line I was denied service at 959. We were litterally the last guests in line and instead of being courteous and take our order, they refused to service. Will never return

I was so excited to try this place. Unfortunately my ice cream was served to me so melted that the stress of it dripping all over my hands outweighed the taste of the ice cream. Such a mess!! I’ve never experienced anything like it before. Wondering if anyone else had the same experience or if I just caught them on a bad night

The flavors created here are a fantastic mix of classic and innovative, and the ice cream is more creamy than I knew ice cream could be! Truly one of my favorite ice cream shops anywhere, and Im a connoisseur 😄

Service is poor, most of the time only 1 person to serve even during rush hours. Pretty slow delivery. It takes 10 minutes for them to serve two ice creams.To answer the response from the store, your ice creams are delicious, I clearly love them. Your service is too slow I reiterate what I said..I waited 10 mins for 1 person to serve 2 ice creams..there was no other folks waiting. It happened multiple times to wait too long in front of the store (with my family) and not seeing an improvement.

The flavors here are very unique! I’ve been to both locations- it seems Hamilton Park has more options but both are great. In addition to trying 4 flavors so far, I’ve also had the fruity pebble macaron ice cream sandwich- the macaron was really fresh and the ice cream was super creamy.

I am obsessed with ice cream and have made it my mission to try every “great” ice cream place in the greater NYC metro area. I live in jersey city and Milk Sugar Love not only has what I think is the best textured ice cream and some of the most interesting flavors, it’s genuinely one of the best ice cream places I’ve had in the greater nyc area. Alfajores and cream, midnight cocoa, and the latest specials are all “can’t miss” flavors.

It was my first time going to this place and it was amazing as I expected. I ordered Earl Gray Icecream which is Jersey City special with a handmade cone. I really enjoyed this flavor. I am planning to visit this place again to try other flavors

The quality of the ice cream they sell is above any expectations you may have. I was hesitant to try their more “uncommon” flavors like honey lavender or lemon olive oil. But, they turned out to be some of the best flavors of ice cream I’ve ever had.

Milk Sugar Love is our favorite ice cream shop and we always have a couple of pints in the freezer (note the photo where we had a freezer shelf dedicate to MSL: 9 pints and a large midnight cookie cake!). We went at least once a month during the pandemic and it was such a bright spot for us during quarantine to enjoy a sweet treat at home. We haven’t found another ice cream shop that executes with such quality and advanced flavor profile. From all of the classic flavors to the weekly flavor drops, we never leave disappointed! Our favorites are anything with guava (especially the Carmen Rosa Dominican cake) and anything with marscarpone (especially the marscarpone cherry). Our classic go tos are the lemon olive oil and honey lavender. Check them out if you’re in the area - you don’t want to miss out on this Jersey City gem.

Was waiting outside to get in before 10pm and was the last in line. Got in at 1003pm. Instead of serving me as the last customer, the lady just said we are closed. Was waiting for 10 minutes outside. They could have just served me. Bad service.

I was here twice during the past two months, the first time I was treated very poorly at the window and figured the person was just having a bad day. I also thought, oh maybe I am ordering too many ice creams! The second time I only opened the door and didn’t even make it inside and I was told very rudely “I’m going to need you to wait outside.” No hello or please wait outside for Covid regulations, etc. This time I left and I don’t think I’ll be coming back again. I have been a fan of this place for a long time.What I found even more disrespectful was that I made a comment on their Instagram account and it went unanswered. Then, I went to LIKE a post of theirs and noticed my comment was removed.I left another comment, this time it was not only removed again BUT it seems I was blocked. Is this how they run a business and treat their customers? Very disappointing especially when I am a big supporter of small businesses in Jersey City.

Not your grandpas ice cream shop. Earl Gray Fudge should be named 50 Shades of Earl Gray. Its the punishment you yearn for. I heard their midnight chocolate was banned in some states for being too ridiculusly amazing. Lemon olive oil, pumpkin, lavender? Because...yeah.

Cannot wait to crack open the hand scooped pints we ordered - Dark Cocoa made with charcoal, lemon meringue, salted caramel and malted cookie ! What a smooth ordering process- ordered online select the pickup time - pay online and arrive and go to pickup window! Perfect- even if its scheduled to be the coldest evening of the winter- ice cream rules!

Horrible customer service . We came in around 9:30 last night and instead of the female worker greeting us, she rolled her eyes right when we walked in. I then asked what kind of cones they had, since there was none displayed and she said “sugar” with an attitude. I explained that I only asked because I didn’t see any around. She then sighed, rolled her eyes, and walked away. I will never spend money at a place where I don’t feel welcome which is why I walked right out. Like hun if you’re miserable at your job then quit✨

First time here, like the chocolate with cone . Need to order online and pickup about 15 minutes even standing outside. Good taste those.

Long waiting for standard over priced ice cream. $4.85 for a two small scoops in a tiny cup is crazy in my opinion. My first visit and didnt find them anything special about it, maybe taking advantage of being located right next to Hamilton Park.

I find the ice cream here to be hit or miss. The strawberry is really good, but the midnight cocoa has a gritty texture that ruined the ice cream for me. My gf was really excited to try the Lemon Olive Oil flavor. I warned her it wasnt going to be good, but she didnt listen to me. Also, who gets excited to try lemon olive oil ice cream? I also found it odd that their waffle cones were from Brooklyn. Or at least they were when I got one about a year ago. Its probably my Jersey pride that finds that odd.Staff is very friendly and ordering online is easy.

Super cute small ice cream shop. The flavors are different from your average ice cream shop. You can make your own ice cream sandwich with their homemade cookies. The waffle cones are handmade and really good. I tried the birthday cake cone with chocolate and salted caramel ice cream. My daughter had vanilla with the red velvet cone. A bit pricey but worth the once in a while splurge. Two cones were about $11. I’d definitely return if I lived closer but I may venture again because of how rich and creamy the ice cream was. It’s not cheap but you can taste the difference!

Awesome ice cream. Its like Eat Pray Love, except theres no Julia Roberts, it isnt hokey, its ice cream and other sweet stuff, and its delicious. There is a big selection of cones. The service is friendly. Minimal seating, but the place is cute and cozy. Facing one of the nicest urban parks around, Hamilton Park. Id give them two thumbs up, but Im holding too much ice cream.

Least interesting artisanal ice cream I have had in a long time. Bought the fruity pebbles ice cream...tasted like standard vanilla ice with a dash of nondescript flavor. At a quick glance you can barely pick out the super tiny dots of color that probably represent the flavoring.

Love this place! Best ice cream in my life! We visited almost every day this summer. Even more - you can also order ice cream cakes or cupcakes on their website with delivery. Their mini cupcakes were a hit on my daughters birthday at school.

I love MSL! My favorite ice cream is their earl grey fudge. No Honey Lavender. No Lemon olive Oil. Ugh, I love them all. Their raspberry bars are also addicting. So friendly, too.

Many original flavors next to the classics. Not too sweet. it is very easy to clean a whole pint by oneself... addictive. Be careful. I strongly recommend you try the.....all flavors actually.

This is a cute little creamery with nice outdoor seatings facing the Hamilton Park. They carry some unique ice cream flavors too! I havent tried their pastries yet, but I sure will be back to check them out.Tip: if my eyes werent mistaken, they carry puppy treats too!!

I love this ice cream shop! First time Ive ever written a review but felt I needed to after reading some of the ridiculous complaints in the one star reviews. You have to pay for quality and thats exactly what you get. The flavors are fantastic and original. Sour cream blueberry is probably my favorite, but everything is delicious. The customer service is fantastic as well. You are always hit with a friendly greeting as soon as you walk in the door. I cant imagine people not liking it here, but that just leaves more ice cream for me!
