Went to this Coffee shop the other day. Was really surprised to see that its a really cozy nice place for some coffee and snacks. The Coffee was nice and the Coffee shop is clean and tidy. Social Distancing measures are being put a good measure as wellOur Server Ariana was provided us with a great customer service. Would love to visit this place again soon. Only issue is that there is very limited parking space.
Mind blowing, how well some people can produce excellence in a perfectly curated space. From the midcentury hug you get in the dining area, to the truly delightful food offerings...Water Street is a must, for this traveler
Cute place, super friendly staff. Good coffee, hot chocolate, and sweets
Stopped here on our way through town and had some nice cocktails (at a coffee shop?). Irish Coffee w/a BANG was delicious, I want to try and copy the recipe at home. My wife got a gin and tonic, but they were missing some of the additional ingredients, so at least she got a discount.Enjoyed the seating outside, through no fault of the business, there was only a pair of “loud talkers,” which we had no choice but to hear all of their conversation in the tight quarters…you know divorce, selling the house, teaching classes…blah blah blah. Anyway, nice cozy place I’d stop back at if in town.
Always good service just wish we didnt have to download app for rewards
Adorable location, wonderful food, coffee and cocktails, but VERY limited parking. I loved my Americano, which was perfectly made to order. This was also one of the few places open on a Sunday. Will definitely make a point of visiting the next time Im in Kalamazoo.
I love visiting this water street! Its always clean, and the food and drinks come out exactly how I like them and are consistent in flavor each time. I recommend the hazelnut latte, the lemon mint smoothie is excellent as well. Def also recommend the incredible bar. Abby and Arianna always provide great service, keep up the good work!
Older/downtown style coffee shop with great service, food, and drinks. The Waterstreet chain is my go-to!
Good biscotti and coffee. If youre up to lunch theyve got some healthy stuff.
Hoping the marketing department / management sees this - I love water street coffee, its my go to, favorite spot for coffee, snacks, drinks and more. But since they changed the rewards program to an app, its become so much more difficult to frequent water street. We used to be able to enter our phone number or tell the barista our phone number for rewards. Now, we are forced to download a app, navigate its confusing interface, and sometimes when the app requires an update, it forces you to exit from the app and update it first before you can even scan your loyalty code. I dont have time for this nor do the people in line behind me waiting to place their order.I am a business owner and marketer so I get it, you want your brand to have more visibility on the users device, but what about the 74 year old who has been visiting the coffee shop since the paper loyalty punch cards were around. Im a millennial and still find this very frustrating. Lets go back to the old way.
Very friendly staff and cozy interior are a plus. Water Street also offers a wide assortment of eats. I didnt get to try any on this stop, but they looked delicious. But this is a Coffee Joint right?I thought their coffee was fine, but nothing special. WSCJ is a nice place to go, but I dont think they earned those ratings based on the coffee. All in all I would definitely go back. Especially to try some of those eats!
We always stop here for coffee when we are in town. The baked goods are tasty, the staff is consistently pleasant and helpful, the bathrooms are clean, and the selection is a coffee lovers dream! We always buy a bag of something to take home and brew as well!
A wide variety of coffee drinks, baked goods, and snacks are available.
They make everything really quick. I order on the app and pick it up at the window and its so easy. I have tried the black bean and egg burrito, the fiesta tofu and potato burrito, cherry oatmeal, and veggie eggcup and they were all delicious. My husband and I also got a maple pecan latte and a spicy iced chai and they were awesome. Ive actually never had anything here I didnt like.
Less than 10 parking spots. Traffic is so heavy both sides of street. Coffee house has many different blends.
Come on its water Street incredible coffee great food, each location has its own unique atmosphere!
Legit and original. Top quality everything and vibes. Regular spot to stop when in the area.
I am obsessed with their southwest egg scone, it is AMAZING.
Always love water street for the kind staff who are willing to offer recommendations, the fresh, interesting food, and of course great coffee, as well as the cute and inviting atmosphere. I sat outside and there was an employee restraining the wood planter facade, which was nice to see the place is well cared for.
Love this place! Its worth the so every time we go through Kalamazoo. 😊
Delicious coffee and incredible breakfast items, inc. many veg-friendly options. Cant beat 50% off prices on Mondays with your student ID!
Excellent coffee and food. Pleasant and peaceful. Highly recommend. The deserts are devine.
Great selection of coffee drinks, baked goodies and foods. In a great location too, right next to Hopcat and a couple other restaurants. Service was fast and friendly. I tried the Sleeping Bear Chocolate. It was very good! Theres real, shaved chocolate in it! It was a nice drink to enjoy while I was waiting to get into Hopcat. And, I love that the coffee cup has a Robin eating berries on it.
They did not tell us that they were over capacity until AFTER we paid for food and coffee. We had laptop bags and clearly had come to work. They should have told us in advance.Coffee is second wave and not all that great. As others have mentioned, its a burnt roast. For the same price or less, you can go elsewhere for better coffee.
Great breakfast food selection!
Delicious food, very nice people and clean. Atmosphere was pretty
Amazing place for coffee.
Rude staff. $12 for a coffee drink and scone. Scone was soggy. Waited about 20-25 min to get drink.I wish I could say today was an “off” experience, but this is typical of WS.
Nice little coffee shop. Great place to relax for a few mins, friendly employees
Awesome little coffee shop downtown.
Amazing pastries! I loved their spinach pie and the chicken pot pie is absolutely amazing.
Best coffee and desert joint in town 😋
Water Street is probably one of the best known places in Kalamazoo to get coffee and there is a reason why. Their downtown location is small and cozy with a wide variety of drinks and snacks to chose from. They are vegan and vegetarian friendly and offer wonderful non-dairy options, and there is something there for everyone! Parking is limited in their small parking lot but there is plenty of parking in the surrounding area so dont let that deter you from a great cup of coffee (they also offer drive thru options and some of their other locations). Overall, delicious coffee and great atmosphere! Highly recommend.
Cool atmosphere with a nice vibe, great friendly service and awesome hot apple cider. What more could I ask for? Will definitely be visiting again.
Coffee taste freshly roasted with quality beans. Easily best coffee in town.
Best coffee Ive had in Kalamazoo. Their breakfast is also fresh and tastes great. Location isnt the greatest.
The staff and general company are amazing! I love the drinks! My family has been going to Water Street since I was little! The coffee is good, but the Italian and French sodas are the best. This coffee shop is great for family and friends. Even children will love this place!
What can I say besides great coffee and great service. Some of the best coffee in Kalamazoo and great fast service.
Great place to meet freinds and catch up. Beverages are tasty and the staff is awesome!
Good coffee and a great place to visit with friends.
Water Street never disappoints, and their new (its been around for a while now) bourbon barrel aged cold brew (with a bang! - coffee ice cubes) is pretty good. Over the years the coffee at Water Street has gotten progressively more and more burnt/bitter (trying to have a more Starbucks-y flavor profile) to keep up with changing tastes. The cold brew reverses that trend by a good few years, although the coffee-cubes they use are still the regular hot brewed coffee made in to ice cubes, and as a result super bitter. The baked good offerings have gotten simpler over the years, but consistency has improved dramatically.
Great as always. First time at this location and wonderful as always. Friendly staff and tasty items.
I visited from out of town. They have GREAT coffee and service and beautiful floral displays to enjoy while you sip your coffee.I had a decaf almond flavored latte with coconut milk. They did a great job of frothing a non dairy milk and I appreciated that their decaf was Swiss water process. My son got a natural processed coffee which I never heard of so they explained the process for how those were made and flavor wise how they differ (more fruity) than traditionally processed coffee. Great people.
Went in, told the ladies I like Mochas and love dark roast coffees but commercial places make them too sweet! Informed me they use dark chocolate and can try it with less syrup and an extra shot. I get extra shots with commercial and still too sweet HOWEVER the dark chocolate intrigued me so I tried it. Perfect! 👌🏾
Love the mocha ice queen ice coffee drink and the black bean and egg burrito. So good!
Love their coffee.
Again, im in just because Im in the area during a walk with my partner and puppy. Order smoothies and set on outdoor patio. The patio was very dirty, as I had to brush our dog off after laying down numerous times. I also had a very difficult time drinking my frozen mix of berries that didnt fit through the straw. I try to support local and dont mind the extra cost, but dont think Im not expecting a good service and product in return. 3rd or 4th time I have had a similar issue that I let slide in the past.
Love this place. Chai tea was great and the servers are wonderful!
I can’t express enough how much I love Waterstreet! Not only do they have the best coffee, but their bakery items are out of this world!!! I hope they expand like starbucks.
Support your local businesses. I was headed off to Starbucks to grab a drink and thankfully it was in an inconvenient location cluttered with parallel parking pots. I didn’t expect to find this one. It was conveniently on the corner of the street. The cappuccino was excellent. Espresso finally done right. Super creamy and no bitter aftertaste. Give up your Starbucks run for a local masterpiece. Not only do they offer great drinks but an array of food options and a cute sit down area. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Thank you for the great service!
Amazing floral decorations on the outside makes you feel like youre in a field of wild flowers!
Friendly people Great espresso and Americano.Environmentally conscious products for sale likeNo plastic food wraps🥑☮Best paper cups in West Michigan. All coffee shops Check it out.
Did not met expectations when looking at there website before coming. Much better experience at the Bronson hospital location. Disappointed.
My favorite cup in the indy zoo coffee scene
This place is pretty cool. Coffee was good, decor was vibey, we’ll be back.
Great time, no delays, was it a dream?
My go to for a quick delicious bite to eat and tasty coffee!
As usual, great coffee and great service. This is a boring post, but they are always so good here!
I love Water St Coffee Joint. They have a great selection of quality coffee, teas, and food while also having a great atmosphere and a friendly staff. Two main cons for me tho, limited parking and Internet accessibility. I love studying here and will hang out for hours but every time I come the Internet is always variable. Its frustrating that my favorite hang out and study location in town can be so difficult to do work at sometimes. Otherwise Water St is a wonderful place.
Love this place to sit and enjoy coffee. Great place to study or meet up with friends. The food is very unique and always delish. The staff here is always more than willing to help you out and answer any questions you might have. And they have alcohol, so thats a plus.
Great place to stop to grab a coffee. There is not drive through and the shop itself is a little compact. Parking can be hard to find at times too.
This place is so cute. Loved the little cottage type feel and the staff was very friendly. Wide variety of drinks to choose from;of which, I enjoyed the iced tea but the coffee was very strong and didnt offer much flavor. Other than that its worth visiting again when we come back to their neighborhood.
Cool little place; coffee is better than Starbucks! In my opinion. Check them out!
Overpriced. Long lines. I never would have bought a half sandwich for 6$ anywhere else. But it was really good. Their coffee, smoothies, pickled and sandwiches are delicious. But expensive
Really like this place. Speedy, friendly service. Excellent hot chocolate and the spiced mocha is one of the best mochas Ive ever had. Delightfully thick with a hint of spice. Good tea selection. Have not tried the food but everyone Ive ever seen eating seems to enjoy it and they seem to run out of things to presumably popular/good. Only downside really is the parking situation and the somewhat noisy seating area.
The mood here is so mellow and laid-back is such a great place to go if you need any kind of inspiration, to meet with friends and family, I just sit down and have a good thought to yourself with a great cup of joe or tea if thats your preference. Last time I was there they had some really great pastries also. It can be hard to get too because its located in a weird little jut of Street but definitely worth the visit
Gormet. Great everything. Also very cute.
Love going to this place to study. Although the inside is a little cramped if its busy, its amazing atmosphere makes it a great place to focus on work. Drink and food wise everything is good! Ive never had a food item or a drink I havent liked.
I had the Affagato. It’s an espresso shot with a scoop of ice cream. And wow! I would recommend giving it a try! I suggest letting it sit for a few minutes because that’s when it gets even better. I also had a wrap and that tasted good as well. Little pricy in my opinion, but excellent food and coffee.
Great staff and cool location the parking can be difficult, and wait times can be long
Excellent coffee, excellent service. Gorgeous flowers and plants outside everywhere. So pretty to look at. Nice place to stop for coffee and snacks.
Coffee is not bad, but not great either, from a traveler perspective (though I havent had better in Kalamazoo yet). Food was pretty disappointing. Nice space though, nestled in between two big roads, and friendly people. Its been here a while so its fairly well established.
This is the coffee shop you are looking for. No joke its the best one we found and the coffee and pastries were great!
Very friendly staff and great food. Love the midnight oil coffee. Dark and rich!
The staff is outstandingly good in both friendliness and competence. Great coffee.
These guys know coffee. Cool little cafe. I enjoyed talking with the barista as they made my Chemex. Check them out
All the fun of your favorite local coffee shop with about a quarter as much elbow room! Theres nothing I can say that hasnt been said before about the size of the downtown location. Fine for a quick to-go, but nigh impossible to dine in. Waterstreet continues to be one of my top favorite coffee joints, but Ill personally stick with the Oakland Drive location.
Some of the best coffee in Kalamazoo - the light roasts are consistently great and the food is terrific too. Service is always friendly, even during the morning rush. Outside seating is wonderful - wish there was a bit more room on the inside though. Parking is the only real challenge here at their downtown location.
Very cute coffee joint. They have great coffee and hot chocolate. They also have amazing food too.
This place is amazing better then McKenzies. Every thing is home made.
Upon recommendation I tried the Sleeping Bear mocha. Absolutely incredible! Atmosphere is very fun, copper table tops and outdoor seating. Cant wait to have an excuse to bring someone with me next time I am in Kalamazoo!
A great place to study if you like quiet, but not silence. They have a great tea selection and the best lemon bars!
I want this to be my favorite WSCJ location but it isn’t. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely location and the staff are always very nice. I dig the repurposed location and it’s a solid downtown anchor location I appreciate. It just always seems to be too small (for seating), too slow on service (it’s popular) and not enough parking (in their tiny lot). It’s very good and I encourage people to patronize WSCJ, it’s just not my favorite location.
Love the atmosphere and the coffee! My breakfast burrito was also excellent.
I have so many great memories here, and its a fantastic place to meet someone for good coffee and long conversation. The little shop is nestled inbetween two cross streets and a railway line in what feels like an entrance into downtown Kalamazoo. Its small with mainly two person tables which makes it feel warm and cozy. The food is made in house or sourced locally and the coffee is roasted in the darker side usually prepared drip. No fancy 3rd wave preparations here, which for me is a welcome change.
I really enjoy water street coffee. I suggest everyone go.
Love the coffee here. Wish they offered gluten free food or dessert options! At least one or two would be nice. Even their granola bars are not gluten free. Beware if you eat gf you will not have options here.
I love to find places like this. The real deal; authentic and unique. Variety and class wrapped up together.
The atmosphere was lovely, the staff was friendly, and the espresso was legit! Minus one star for only the most persnickety of reasons: the toilet paper roll was weirdly wide, which made it impossible to grab a piece one-handed without ripping it down the middle.
Good coffee, reasonable price, friendly baristas.
