This place is so cute! i love how cheap the books are. my aunt was trying to get a dictionary for a while and the price here was too good to say no to! definitely a book store you want to visit if you’re into books. its adorable, affordable, and amazing!

For years I have been going to Katy budget books. I used to live in Katy for a long time, and I would always go in there with my kids. Mostly to buy books they were like my first choice of book stores to purchase books. I recently went in there about a year ago to get some books I was in the areaYay. It really made my day to see them still in business and running at optimal speed. I was going to church out there so I went by to visit before the service started and I found very good bargains and deals and buys. Anytime I go to Katy I have to stop at Katy budget books and will go out of my way to stop in to shop. They are a very nice and well-organized bookstore and I appreciate them for having the books that I go in there to seek after.

Fully vaccinated customers are still required to wear a mask. There is no reason why anyone who has been vaccinated should wear a mask. They dont provide one. I will not return until they follow the CDC, The President, The Governor and every other business guidelines. They are discriminating against people who take care of their own health.

Excellent collection of all kind of books very nice collection in gift shops warm welcoming friendly staff you can read plenty of books of all subjects plus point is when you bring your read ones you can get discount on your next book. Free standing parking very nice location clear visible sign you can easily find this store. All associates are very humble and helpful you won’t be able to go out from there without buying something they have excellent collection.

The pricing is confusing. The labels on the back of the books do not correlate to price. My preteen was very upset and put back a whole stack of books. The store is a little overwhelming and feels crowded. And not in a good Lets go treasure hunting way. Unless you read popular fiction or romance there isnt much of a selection.

Don’t wait for Amazon to show up and don’t pay that delivery fee! This bookstore has so much to offer and always seems to have what I’m after! You can bring your own books in to trade, or come home with more.

Use to go to the old location. Finally made time to see the new store. It was okay. Would have liked someone to help me when I couldnt find what I was looking for. But we were apparently wearing invisibility cloaks or something. Eh.

The new location on South Mason has a modern feel to it. Same great selection of books, new location. It is a bit closer to our home, so definitely will be coming more often.

I have been purchasing books from Katy Budget for over a decade. I have found without exception the entire staff to be extremely friendly, helpful and professional whether on the phone or in person. It is always a pleasure to speak with them. If I could give them 6 stars I would! :)

Great place. Bring your used good condition books, get a credit. Then buy the books from them you like and use your credit to buy them a little cheaper, or just buy them outright.

Very crowded. They cannot keep up with donated books. You cannot just show up as I did with a box of books to donate - you MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT or else they will turn you away. Or you can put them in the dumpster behind the store.

I have always loved KBB! I really love them now that they are on my side of Katy Frwy! They are helpful, polite & always remember to call when a book is not on their shelves but you’ve been wanting it! The store is organized, clean & quiet. This is a very friendly store with a good turnover of both used and new materials, plus cute gifts, games and toys (all new).Their hobby sections are quite good (cooking, fabric and sewing crafts woodworking, gardening, etc), and they have sections for specialised interests (history, religion, self-help) and for categories like mysteries and romances.Ive always been happy to shop there and I always find something very useful or fun!

This has been my go to bookstore for over 20 years. First and foremost they have a great book credit program that will keep your book costs low if you bring books to trade in regularly. Even just buying the used books at face value you’ll get a good deal. It is very organized and easy to find the genre you’re looking for. I have found everything from children’s books, history, how to, travel, fiction, on and on and on.What sets KBB apart is their knowledgeable staff and the fact that they have a great selection of the most current popular books too. It’s big enough to have most everything you’re looking for but remains small enough to not loose its character and welcoming environment.

The store is open! They require appointments for book exchange. They allow one legal box to fill with books, you will not get back the discards.

It is amazing for my girls to go here and pick out new books, after they are done they can return them for a discount off the next books purchased!! Had a hard time navigating but the staff was more then willing to point me in the way I needed to be..

What can you say. A used book store is the best.

When we were doing some cleaning we had several boxes full of books. We wanted to share these books while we donated some we brought a bulk of them to Katy Budget books. They gave us a great credit amount and the employees were so sweet and helpful. We love coming here and cant wait to get to the new store.

Very nice setup, I loved how well everything was organized, it made it much easier to search for specific books. So well organized we changed our kids home library to match this sorting system. The selection was outstanding, having spent a weekend bookstore hopping of more then a dozen book stores this one was one of the best. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely suggest this place to all book lovers!

DONT SELL YOUR BOOKS HERE, unless youre willing to take store credit for the type of book you sell. If you sell paper backs you get paper back credits and if you sell hard backs you get hard back credit. This means the credit can only be used on like items! You can never use your credit on the collectors items and no cash ever. Its not a great system for selling so take that business to half price books. They do cash and theyre quick there. I love to support local and I understand they cant offer the same thing as half price. They rely on the book economy here in Katy so to speak. If you know exactly what books you need this works, if they have it as well. They have a good selection. Sometimes it feels a bit crowded and unorganized, but it has that small town run vibe. Their collectors section has some good picks too and sometimes theyre at an awesome prices. They run little work shops too from time to time so keep an eye out. Like I said, supporting local businesses is great, but maybe modify your selling system.

Wow they moved since I’ve been there last. The store looks so organized now. I went in to use some of my credit that I had accrued there when I lived in Katy. I was able to find five books on my own and the helpful sales associate offered a suggestion to me when I was at the checkout counter and I purchased that one also. It was a winning day for me.

I love this place. They always have new books just waiting to be discovered and the staff are always so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I still come back to Houston to shop here although I now live 2 hours away. My all time favorite bookstore hands down!!!!

It’s a great place to buy books I hear people complaining about the one day policy and I believe it is because there are people who are faster readers than others so if there was a one week policy people could just read the book and return it without paying anything and they would be scamming the store. Another thing, the reason why employees do not ask if you need anything is because it’s a small store with signs on the ceiling and it’s a bookstore it would be frustrating if you were reading a book and then an employee said is there anything I can help you with while you are reading. Anyway I love this bookstore!

I drive 30 minutes to come to this store and I havent set foot in a Half Price Books since I discovered it! They have some amazing finds, the staff is always amazing and gives great opinions. Plus they have a mini little gift area that you can get some cool stuff. The prices are so affordable. Instead of getting money for your books when you sell them you get store credit to apply to your future purchases!! They give you GREAT money for your books compared to other places. Honestly, check out this place and youll never go anywhere else.

Staff is helpful and friendly. The credits they give you for books you sell to them are not easily used. Lots of restrictions, so you dont end up getting anything for your books. Other businesses of this type pay cash for books.

I love this book store. I have been shopping here for over 20 years, since they were at the original location. We are fortunate in Katy to have an independent book store! There arent as many of them as there once were, and I am grateful that Katy Budget Books is here. Their used book program is terrific.

Good selection of new and used books... the used books are in nearly new condition and are half the price of the new books. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Im really impressed with the organization of the store as well. My first thought was that they only sold new books because it didnt look or smell like your typical used book store. This was my first of what I can already tell will be many visits. 👍🏼👍🏼

Nice store with categorized books on shelves. some in boxes on the floor. Bathroom was clean. Found what I was looking for quickly. You can exchange your old books for credit to buy. Some new books at full price displayed as well. Lots of little book related items as well. Good parking lot. Easy access to North Fry from side street with traffic light.

This is the best book store I’ve been to. They have brand new and moderately used books. They also have other items. You can bring in used books to get credit. The credit system is very complex and sort of confusing to first timers. If I got it correct, you get 100% of the value from the books. Paper backs and hard backs credit are separate so paper backs can only work towards paper backs, but hard backs can work towards both. The credit can only be used towards used books. Also, the credit only counts for 90% of the purchase. The staff is very nice and they have a huge selection. They also have meet ups.

If you are looking for books..this should your number one spot. They always have the popular books and are at a great price. For those of you with high school kids. You can usually find those books your kids are required to read here....or if you have younger ones too. I took my nephew once and he was happy with the book selection.

Ive been a customer here for over a decade. And each time I go in, I leave with a smile, even if I dont find the book I want. The staff is just so great to work with, and the .50 cent sales cannot be beaten! One of the best used book stores Ive ever had the pleasure to frequent. If you need something not in stock theyll get it for you, or let you know when they do acquire it. TIP; if you go on the bi-yearly sales, go EARLY. Everyone in town seems to show up sooner or later!

This bookstore is a little gem, so few of these around nowadays. Rhe staff are really helpful and know their store. I wanted a specific book for my granddaughter and they found two different copies for me in a few minutes (one new, and a secondhand copy).

A wide variety of used and new books with a great trade in credit program can be found here for all ages. Weekend author visits and teacher programs are an added bonus. My kids and I often come here. The atmosphere is always friendly and inviting.

The store is well set up and everyone was friendly. They can search on the PC if they have a particular book in stock and it they dont can alert you when they get it. Cathy knew exactly where to go and offered other great selections based on what she had read. They even have a book club and occasionally authors come in for book releases and signings. Will definitely be back here often.

This place has new and used books. It is not full of racks and racks of toys like Books a Million. It host childern reading programs and guest authors. I always find new stuff and fun stuff here

Visiting from out of town and found this hidden gem! Bookstore with new and used books, meets country market. We came back again for toddler story time and Mrs. Alicia was so good with all the kids my daughter was happy. We also enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas sales and Grandma got to buy gifts for her grandkids and family back home. Well be back anytime we visit Katy again. Really a wonderful experience, thank you!

I always Love browsing through Katy Budget Books. They have a great variety & plenty for each variety. They have kind& helpful employees. I also want to give a special Thank You to the young lady who returned my phone to me that I had left in a comfy chair as I was deciding on my choices. I had to laugh at myself when she told me that she knew it must be mine because of my walk ( panicked,of course😉)

Was very disappointed with the customer service at this store and will not return. I love to support local shops and do so with many in the area but they all give good customer service. 3 ladies here were rude to my family. We asked where specific used books were and i was told it wasnt her job to know where used books where because there were too many to track, like she told me before (odd thing to say when Im just trying to figure out where books are so I can buy one and Inturn help support her) and they were over in a general direction. Im sorry but that girl needs to learn some respect when talking to customers. Another got one completely ignored my daughter when she went up to ask if a book was in stock. And lastly an employee told me rudely to move over so she could pass and aggressively put books on the shelf. I was so appalled by the attitude of the people working here we walked out without buying anything. The customer service here is a joke. I am an avid book buyer and Ill be taking my money to half price books where they are friendly and know there stuff. I will discourage everyone I know from shopping here.

They have a large selection of books and other cute quirky items plus theyre really nice. I like coming here. My only issue is that Ive been coming here for 19 years and Ive never seen a black person working here. Hispanic, Indian, Oriental, and Caucasian, but no one that was black. I have a hard time believing that not one qualified black person has ever applied. This makes me 😢.

I absolutely love katy budget books! My mom, my sisters, and I have been buying and trading books here for years. Its a nice local book store that is close to us. They have new and used books, and also lots of fun cute odds and ends to buy for gifts etc. I also love that they take back your books for used book credit. They always have what I am looking for and I alaays leave here happy. I would spend hours in thus store if I could.

Fun place to go if youre a reader. Books arent always the best deals (half price on some used editions just arent worth it for their condition) but if youre thorough you can find a deal on most visits! Staff are friendly and smiling, and always willing to help. There are chairs throughout store to browse books before purchasing. This bookstore doesnt make you feel pressured. Its become a favorite spot while in Katy.

As a long time customer of KBB, I can only say it remains a great experience to visit in the store. I dont often bring in books for store credit, which is what they do, but when I do they are all helpful, letting customers know if some books cannot be accepted or not. I have tons of book credit there, and pay a few dollars usually when I go in there. If I buy new there is is a card they give out where once you buy 8 books the average comes off the next time you buy a new book. When they do not have a book they are very happy to order it for me and I have done this many times.Also, if I want to get an older book they keep a list of wants and call when the book comes in. This is great if youre looking for certain series or authors. All in an independent book store, which is fabulous in this day and age and I feel very fortunate to have this store in my part of town.

Best bookstore in Katy area! They are a small bookstore, not a franchise, therefore they go the extra mile for you. If they dont have the book, they will order it for you. Prices are reasonable. If you are new tot he area, they carry all the books the kids hace to read at Katy schools. They also have the option of used books, most of the time, if you dont want to pay full price. They will buy books back as well.

Had a very disappointing experience yesterday. Found out that you can buy books from the UK but you can no longer return them. They will sell you books but when you try to return them a month later, in the same condition, they will not accept them. Also, I was told that if they have too many of the same book they will no longer accept them. My bill yesterday, including 20 plus returns was $85.00. I have enjoyed Katy Budget Books for 25 plus years. From now on I will use ebay, my library, or some other book store. I am elderly and dont get out much. Sorry to lose you Katy Budget Books.

Katy budget books has been around in this area for nearly 30 years till so been repeatedly ranked as one of Houstons best independently owned bookstores you can easily lose yourself in it the owner has done wonderful things with the store theyre always having events and authors signing, if youre looking for a required reading for school many times already know what the school district has prescribed and theyve got a box of them ready for students.
