I’m so excited to have a Kinokuniya near me! This branch seems to specialise in manga and related merch. I was there specifically to look for ViVi magazine but it wasn’t available. The only other major Japanese fashion magazines on the shelves were Brutus, Nylon (Japan) and BTS(!?!?).But I did manage to find my favourite Sarasa pen in the full rainbow spectrum of colours. If you like G2 Pilot, do yourself a favour and try the Sarasa pens!!I hope to see a bigger selection of Japanese fashion magazines here in the future!
This is such a germ Japanese book store. I was planning to buy some note books and pens but I spent almost 2 hrs in the store 😂. They have very cute stuffs. Prices are decent to me if they are imported from Japan, I wouldnt expect them to be cheap. They have books and comics in Japanese, you heard it right, Japanese. Wish I could understand a word 😬 However, I enjoyed the pen/pencils and notebooks sections.
An amazing store for people who love Japanese culture, art supplies, and manga! They even sell 0.3 mm mechanical pencils! I spent a couple hours here just browsing intently with my friend and the store is so pleasant. I ended up buying a “kawaii” dumpling-shaped air purifier because I love functional and decorative household items haha.
Love the store and location, just the layout of the store when it becomes so busy is PACKED, which makes it difficult to navigate the store. But going doing a non-busy moment for the location, is a great experience as far as the selection. 🖤🖤
Andy was amazing at helping me find all the things I was looking for! He really took the time to explain everything and found so many options for me. I absolutely loved my experience here and the customer service I received. Thank you Andy! 😊
Beautiful store, great selection of select art, merchandise, collectibles, and crafts. They carry unique products from numerous games, books, shows, movies, artists, and more. You can easily enjoy your time here without buying anything, although I would highly recommend giving them your business. They deserve it!
Our kids would spend all day in here if we let them!! It has such a great variety of books and little knick knacks. We never leave this store empty handed!
Very nice Is shop, have a really big collection!
Really cool store, lots of variety of Mangas and cute unique merchandise. If you love anime, video games, and everything in those categories youll enjoy visiting this place. Dont expect that things would be cheap, honestly almost everything is expensive 😖, well for a part timer like me. I love browsing in the store and looking at the Mangas, graphic nobles, art books, art and writing supplies, plushies, and other merchandise. The staff kindly asks you to not spend too much time, since it is a really popular shop that gets pack and gets a line.
If you are into asian pop culture items you must go here. Also have higher end writing instruments. Found 4 cookbooks and other international interest books as well. There was so much here that it was overwhelming in a good way.
Lots of toys, anime and cute stuffs, not so much about books. This kinokuniya is the smallest I have seen compare to other country.Strict with covid policy, very good. Limit people in store and reminded us that customer should spend about 20 minutes in store. I waited in front of store for about 20 minutes in heat. Please choose time to go to store wisely.Overall is good for anime and toys. You can order stuff from their online websites to ship to store. 👍
I spent a good 2 hours browsing Japanese photography and art supplies. I make it a point to not come often, as Im bound to end up spending a lot of money. I always like coming here though; there really isnt a selection like the ones found here anywhere else. This is usually my place to go when I want to pick up art related books, and references/inspiration in general. If only there were more of them in Texas. As far as Im aware, the only other one, is in Austin.
Such an amazing store to find your japanese manga and other Japan related items! From Studio Ghibli to Gundam collectibles, you can find A LOT of amazing Japanese manga related items. Employees did check everyones temp before they got to go inside the shop. Employees were very nice and welcoming! Great place to find manga and manga related items!
Cool stuff! A little bit pricey, but I assume that’s because it’s all imported. If you even remotely love anything Japanese, Kino will blow your mind. Plus, they do a little artists alley sometimes on Friday’s. Neat!
Very nice store. The employees are very professional and the assortment of product is good
Saw many cute gifts. Bought a collected works of Japanese short stories by Penguin Books and 2 shibu ninja shirts for our nephews. Wanted to buy more things!
Unbelievable return policy. They do not accept return??? Only exchanges, and has to be within 7 days. I bought the item brand new, still in wrapped plastic, why cant it be returned? I would understand if I bought a used item or auction, etc... but this is brand new merchandise. You guys need to revise your return policy.
I love this place! i get a whole bunch of gel pens and stickers from this place. i always want to be here and read or just look at things. this place is such a vibe. if you and your friends are bored and just need a place to hang out, this is great! you’ll also find a lot of things you didn’t even know you needed here. they have journals, pens, books, socks, stickers, etc! its so adorable
Best place for those like me who LOVE MANGA and anime goodies! From art books, to figures, to even Japanese tankobons, you will be in manga heaven. I can literally stay here for hours, never getting bored. This place is truly one of a kind for us anime nerds :p you will not regret coming here! :D
Kinokuniyas fun to browse no matter the location. The only thing that I was really disappointed by is how almost every manga series had their first 3 volumes out of stock. I checked at least 10 different series trying to buy for other people and every one started at volume 3 or 4. I know a store cant reasonably keep a ton of #1s in stock, but there was a full wall - if not more - of Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisens latest release. Some stores have sections for picking up the first volumes of series, maybe setting up a spot like that would be helpful?
Cute Japanese store even though they try to rise prices really high. Found a very nice wallet for 75 dollars, googled it and found it in Amazon for just 34 dollars! Also most of the items they sell are made in China, but sold as if they were Japanese. Bought 100 dollars of items and when I got home I discovered they had strategically placed the price tags on top of the Made in China letters.
Its a cool small manga shop. They have a wide selection of manga and the employees are really helpful. Also it has a sections for stationary its cool. But somethings are really overpriced in my opinion.
This is my favorite store in the Houston area and I drive two hours round trip 1-2 times a month just to come here. The selection of merchandise is unbeatable, and I especially love their LGBTQ+ section of manga. I also appreciate how they have 100% authentic merchandise, and even have some Japan-exclusives that you can’t find anywhere else.I highly recommend buying a membership, as it is not expensive at all and you get a discount with each purchase. You will earn your money back on the membership after one visit, trust me. 😂
Yo, this is a must try. At first it may seem so basic. Soft serve ice cream and a waffle. But let me tell you, this is both a unique and amazing experience if youve never eaten here before.Even as a 33-year-old adult the child in me came out when I saw the fish shaped waffle cone filled with gooey goodness inside of it and jabbed into probably some of the most delicious ice cream Ive had (except for Blue Bell of course xD).I wholeheartedly recommend this place and highly doubt you will be disappointed!
Awesome to finally have a nerdy book store in katy again just saying been a long time since we had a place to get manga and the like that was dedicated to it.
I love Kinokuniya! We mostly go for their great selection of fancy writing pens, calligraphy pens, and notebooks, but its also very fun to browse through everything else in the store. The staff is always very friendly, and Ive really appreciated the precautions theyve taken during the pandemic.
Umm...attention please...badass store right here. Sooooo much cool stuff!!!!!! Art supplies, stickers, manga, action figures, cat stuff, greeting cards...just so many things that youll hear yourself say, I need that!!!! I purchased an evil eye car air refreshner, Mothra art print, annnd a cactus button that says dont touch me. Lol Such a fun spot for gift shopping or to introduce yourself to something new.
Great variety. All the staff were really nice and helpful. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the area
An amazing store full of great localized manga and imported japanese manga and goods, ranging from shonen jump, shoujo, etc.Loads of ghibli goods and Gunpla models ranging from small scale to perfect grades, stationary is in abundance along with tons of art supplies and reference books on things like backgrounds and anatomy.Overall I would give this store a 9 out of 10 as far everything youd want in japanese import book Im pretty sure they got itP.s the junji ito section is huge with limitless books, buttons, and totes. Got me some books and totes
Great manga store the only issue I have is that the store is too small. I wish it was a bit bigger especially since on weekends it can get full and very crowded but other than that it’s a great book store and I love that they have books in Japanese.
This is definitely the manga / hobby / little of everything spot
Love everything! Wish I could of bought more. It was a bit packed so dont bring a stroller or you wont be able to look at everything. But other than that awesome place.
I love the selection of pens, washi tape, pins, journals...The manga selection is quite large! There’s a great variety of books ranging from Final Fantasy art books to Fate and Clamp. 💕If you really like Miyazaki films there is napkins, towels, plushies, banks and figures.GUNDAM as well :3Definitely worth the trip ❤️❤️
Staff was kind and friendly, the store was clean and well stocked! I also appreciated the neat temperature check tech they used as well as the requirement to wear a mask and use sanitizer before entering. They had an array of items such as books, drawing utensils, cute sticky notes, figurines, tarot decks and plushies! It was a wonderful surprise that they had tarot decks! And each of them were beautiful! We drove 4+ hours to visit and I was not disappointed.
Not bad, food was good, service kind of slow, some of the staff didnt seem to want to be there.
Super Awesome !!! Anime selections are Super Fantastic! Your sure to find your favorite read or a new favorite!! Trust you wont know what to purchase first! This place is a Gem! .....but dont keep Kinokuniya Bookstore a secret everyones better with reading or Anime in there life!!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👘🥡🥠🥢🍱🎎🧧...great gifts, plush anime, puzzles,an artist heaven inks, pens, papers etc....Must go to. Must shop stop!!! Love love love the friendly service! For all ages!!!
Great store to find Japanese books and other items. The area its located in has a bunch of great varieties of Asian stores. This one in particular is a really great gem.
Anime lover all the way! Nice Lil spot, all the essentials that any fan would look for. Manga, pins, acrylics, plushies, figures, books! Just a bit of everything. So a must see if u havent already!
Great staff full of all kinds of awesome stuff to buy
This store is so adorable its like a mix of daiso, fit, japan house, michaels, and a little of hot topic regardless yall should def check this store out OMG AND THE AMOUNT OF STATIONARY THEY HAVE IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! The workers are so friendly and nice. They also have manga in both japanese and english! This is a great place to shop especially so close to Katy Chinatown!
The place was full of stuff. But you need to have a big bank account to buy something from there. And if you dont have a credit or debit card dont even bother to go in, they dont take cash.
Very friendly staff makes for a nice visit.
Good variety of visually impressive books. Prices are a little steep, but worth it. They also have some shirts to go with the themed displays sometimes. Good if you dont know what you want to find ahead of time.
I loved it but using only cards is kinda sad cause I don’t wanna be wasting my brothers credit card all the time. I would rather use my own money.
Looooove this place! Great for buying proper Japanese stationary as well as manga, art books, and official merchandise.
This is a high end japanese stationary, bookstore, and hobby store all in one.The price point for stationary is preety high. But they have lots of stuff that not available in local art craft store. For example: they have 0.3 mechanical pencil and ranges from HB, H, B or 2B for mechanical pencil refill.
I love this store the only down point its that they didnt let me use the restroom, I wasnt finished buying stuff but I had to pay and go.I didnt like that at all.
Not as organized as I would have expected but still a good selection
I could easily spend hours looking at stuff here. They have all kinds of things; art books, manga, novels, crafts, blind boxes, figures, toys, plush, art supplies, etc. Its an overall very fun place. :)
Super cute, but always packed and people are stumbling over each other. The manga wall is pretty cool.
Beautiful place. Had so many fangirl moments there lol. Definitely coming back!
I love coming here for all my stationary wants and needs. I will gladly make the drive even with no intentions of buying anything just for scoping out all the latest goodies
Lots of things to see and buy. Not cheap store. Items are from Japan not Chinese.
Love the temp. checks, mask enforced rule and the limiting of ppl in store. love everything about this place! employees are always so kind
Cant be in the area without going inside & wasting my money in here! Awesome selection of anime books/manga & other collectibles. Good selection of Japanese books, as well as art stuff.
Bookstore has lots of Anime and Japanese magazine and Manga if you are interested. A little pricey but worth it if you are a fan.
It was great!! The employees were v helpful and nice and they had a good selection of manga, I will definitely be going again!!
Very nice atmosphere, lots of cool stuff. Pens and paper for writing and drawing, model kits, and anime statues round out a large selection of Japanese books on all different subjects. Friendly staff!
This store is so awesome and cute!! かわいい!! They have all kinds of neat books, manga, a great section on learning asian languages, SO many cute gifts, and a PLETHORA of amazing stationary and office supplies! If you love asian cultures, studio ghibli, woke lgbtq and bipoc stuff, this place is for you. Plus its close to so many great restaurants and cafes! Check it out! They are being safe and limiting customers inside, so you might need to wait a bit, but its worth the wait. Great place to buy a gift!
Nothing for me but my kids love it there. They can stay at the shop forever
Nice store, but very much weeb bait. Not many Japanese language books, mostly just manga and stationary, so be prepared.
Whenever Im near Kinokuniya, I always feel the need to stop by. Great selection and atmosphere here!
Everytime i visit this bookstore i just cant stop smiling. Great variety of kawaii goodies as well as manga, anime figures, and a wonderful Studio Ghibli section😊
Absolutelt amazing place. I may have over spent despite holding back. Cant wait to go again. Though please add Bungo Stray Dogs to the manga wall.
Honestly love it. We had originally planned to go to books a million but they where closed. But on our way home we saw the book place and I’m so glad we did because I left with 8 new manga series and a deku figure for 90 bucks. Each item was either 5 or ten dollars and they have stuff in English and Japanese. 10/10 recommend and I can’t wait to go back.
The store isnt for everyone, but you have even a faint interest in Japanese popculture, classic media, or cutesy stuff in general, you should be able to find something of interest here
This place is amazing for my manga addiction, terrible for my wallet 😭. Theres a great selection and variety of manga and Japanese learning books, stationery, and trinkets. Its a little pricier than most, but to support the business its worth the extra dollars. Super cool store, super nice staff, and have met some rly nice ppl there. :)
Awesome place and a great selection. A bit pricey but there’s not many stores like this in Houston specially not with so many products. The customer service is great. Everyone was so nice and willing to help.
Love seeing all the cool books and merchandise offered here! Always end up spending too much money lol
Cool stationary/book/nick nacks store. Friendly staff and they have some cool Japaneses products.
I could browse the pens/art supply/notebook section for Hours....
Such a cool and unique shop. I think theyre a tad pricey but theres such of amazing selection of things like Gundam kits, cute stationary and office items, manga, game art books, and godzilla merch. Its pretty hard not to buy alot of stuff from them sometimes.
Soft Opening! (First Edit):Very similar to the NYC location just smaller, but just as delightful. Youll find a lot of writing/drawing necessities such as several form factors of paper and a wide range of pens/pencils. If youre looking for books or manga, most of it is currently just in Japanese, but I was informed that once they have a grand opening theyll have a good selection of English books/manga soon after. A major difference at this location though is that they have a hefty amount of Studio Ghibli merchandise from towels and puzzles to art books and plush toys. Gotta love how organized it is.If its anything like the NYC location, thisll be a great place for people looking for Japanese manga and related paraphernalia.
Love this place so much, always go here when i have free time. They sell a lot of japanese products. Mostly manga and anime merch and that is what people are mostly there for. Sometimes there would be a market outside and a cosplay going on and it is always really fun. They have cooking books, drawing books for kids. The big book shelf on the very left is the manga section, in english. From the very back it goes in alphabetical order, or just a to z. At the very back go to the left side and there will be the manga in Japanese. In japanese, they have my hero academia volumes that are not in english yet and attack on titan volume 33(this is as of june 5, 2021) in the english side they have way more than the japanese section. They have a lot of demon slayer, one punch man, naruto, and one piece all in english. They are out of stock of the re zero manga is what the people who worked there said when i asked if there were re zero manga. In the right section of the store, they sell pens, journals, and some more stuff for school supplies. But if ur coming here for school supplies, dont, they dont have a lot of it, but they do have a lot of really cute pens. They sell a lot of figures and collectibles for collecters like me, they have a lot of love live, naruto, and demon slayer figures at the top of the english manga shelves. They have godzilla stuff also, shirt and figures. They have a lot of stuff toys/plushies. I got a rem stuff toy there. Its in between of the japanese and manga shelves, if u explore it the store, u will definetly not miss it. They have demon slayer shirts of tanjiro and zenistsu and other demon slayer characters. They also have attack on titan servey corps capes and the stuff they were in the servey corps, sorry i forgot what it was called. They have survey corps jackets. They have a full cosplay there, but by the time you see this its probably out of stock by now. And the survery corps jackets are really EXPENSIVE. Its 80 dollars. Oh and the normal sized figures prices are 25 to 40 dollars. They have dvds of animes in the middle shelf. They also have light novels in the english manga shelves right under the yu gi oh manga. They have really cool other merch also, they have lanyards, i saw they had an attack on titan and boruto lanyards which i both bought. They had an attack on titan clock no joke. They had dragon balls. They had a lot of keychains, they had re zero keychain, dragon ball keychains, and death note keychains. Speaking of death note they have death note earings. Its a cross with some cool designs. They have magnets there also. They also have some miku hatsune figurines, keychains, etc. They have overwatch figurines also but they are really expensive, 65 dollars. They do not accept cash. They also have funko pops there. Thank you for reading this have a great day and please like if this helped.
Staff is very friendly and the store is clean and well organized. If you are anime fan, keep an eye out for Saturday events, they are worth the trip.
Cool places & toys 2 chill
Awesome experience everytime I go. Since COVID, there is always a line waiting to get it, but its worth it. Prices can be high too but eh, I live it.
So many cool things here. Manga, stationary, gundam and so much more.
This place is awesome! Its smaller than its Seattle counterpart, however it contains a fair variety of products that are unique and interesting. Its manga selection is decent, comprised mostly of popular/mainstream series. Additionally, there is a large selection of Japanese language books/manga. Definitly worth a look if your in the area.
This is by far the best store I have gone to for Japanese stationary and manga. I have gone to many other stores, and this has been the biggest one with the most variety of books and gifts. The staff is very friendly, and the prices are great! I have bought most of my stationary and gifts from this store because everything is extremely cute. If you love anime, manga, and stationary, I highly recommend visiting this store.
Cool stuff if you like Manga or Anime!
Had a huge collection of manga and art supply for a small store and the staff always seems to know what you need.
There are so many pens!!! They randomly have some pokemon cards here but only the decks. They still follow face mask mandate for health safety for everyone.
Lots of great stuff. Very pricey though.
