Went here today with my 1 year old and my visually impaired 13 year old. She is completely blind and one of the awesome ladies at the info desk helped her find braille and audio resources, while I helped my toddler. She was super amazing, and although my 13 year old didnt have a title or author in mind, she stood and read the book summaries to her. They were able to find several to suit her needs. And having a small playground outside of the library is great for the little ones too.

Great weekday hours: 09:00-21:00. Good luck finding a library with such long business hours! Spacious, clean, quiet. Lots of free parking. Park next door with swings, monkey bars, etc. for kids. Everyone masked, staff seen sanitizing tables. Lots of library computer terminals, and some areas available for plugin. Excellent library Wisconsin!

This was my first visit and Dina was not friendly nor did she display customer service to me and my family. I believe she was rude and gave impediments for me to get library cards for me and my 2 children. However, even though Dina took me through unnecessary red tape I successfully answered and provided information to HER satisfaction. the other ladies helped me and family to obtain library cards. The other ladies at the front desk are AWESOME!!! Cant say the same for Dina☹️

After the local public library fell into a state of neglect due to decisions made by city officials and the library board, our family decided it was time to switch libraries. Since our previous library was part of the Share Lakeshores Library system we had to look no further than Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Kenosha Public Library dates back to 1872 when Zalmon Simmons and Reverend Henry Simmons established a circulating library in the Unitarian Church. In 1899 Zalmon Simmons would construct the city’s first library, The Gilbert M. Simmons Library in the location known today as Library Park. Today, the Kenosha Public Library is comprised of the following locations: Northside, Simmons, Southwest, and Uptown. My review will focus on the Kenosha Southwest Public Library. The Kenosha Southwest Public Library was opened to the public in 1981. In 2004 the library was expanded and renovated. The Southwest Library is well maintained externally as well as internally. Throughout the facility the library is bathed in sunlight coming in from the windows. Arm chairs are arranged throughout for patrons to utilize as they peruse library materials. Lap top computer stations with comfortable chairs offer patrons the opportunity to utilize the internet. A printing station allows patrons to print information from the internet. Meeting rooms are available for the patrons to reserve for meetings/activities. The library’s materials and resources are in excellent condition. This location offers a variety of programs from infant through adult stage. There is a juvenile section which is designed to promote reading and quiet play. The atmosphere of the entire library is welcoming/quiet which is and conducive to reading/studying. The library staff members are professional, courteous and helpful. They want to ensure patrons have a pleasant experience while visiting the library. Patrons can return their materials via a convenient drop off lane located outside the library. Parking is free of charge and there are two lots which provide ample parking to the patrons. The library is open seven days a week. Please check the library’s website for more information. The Kenosha Southwest Public Library is an asset to the Kenosha-Racine area. Our family looks forward to visiting the library each week.

My rating is for the library itself and does not reflect the following criticism. Why should our taxes support meeting space for groups with their own tax-free meeting space? I appreciate cost-free space for the community, but hosting Jehovahs Witnesses is entirely inappropriate.

Nice place to study- though its really annoying how many kids playing in the video game section get to be as loud and offensive as they want. Keep hearing them calling each other gay and whatnot, swearing loudly, and being overall rude.

Be forewarned that if you plug your laptop into the floor outlets under/next to the tables, you may be scolded LOUDLY. Some of these outlets are out of the way of foot traffic and none of them are marked off-limits. I have been to many libraries with such outlets and only this library disallows their use.
