I visited here from Vancouver to try the egg benedict. This place was pretty busy at around 11pm. Probably famous for The price and taste was average. My favorite egg benedict is Jam Cafe(Vancouver and Victoria) so I guess my expectation was bit high... nothing was that special. I dont know what kind of potato they cooked. It was so flavorless. And Benny sauce was not impressive. The whole mustard on the bread was good. I think this place is overrated. It is maybe good casual place for local people but not worth it to visit here from Vancouver.
This is an excellent diner with the old Whistler Village feel. I was lucky to grab a seat at the bar with no wait and chat with chef Chris. They prepare so much food artistically, so fast with so little kitchen space. I had a cappuccino which was nice and frothy with foam art you wouldnt expect in a diner. The breakfast poutine is heavy but a must try. Twice cooked potatoes with sausage, bacon and caramelized onions with cheese curds and gravy topped with 2 poached eggs topped with Hollandaise sauce. Simply great and good enough to fill you up for the whole day.
Best food & staff! What a great place!! My California sandwich was so fresh tasting & when I couldn’t decide between fries (potatoes from nearby Pemberton) & salad, the friendly waitress suggested I could do half & half. So glad I did as both the tasty salad & crispy French fries were the perfect lunch time meal. The chef (didn’t catch his name) was so awesome. He chatted amicably while working at a breakneck speed. Would highly recommend a stop at the Southside Diner for anyone who is visiting Whistler.
Good vibes and good food. Love the coffee.
Great staff, great food. Well worth a little stop off to start your morning! Cant wait till next time!
Came here for happy hour and ordered the happy hour special of poutine and beer for $10. I dont drink so I asked if I could substitute the beer for another drink. I was told I could only substitute it for a soft drink. I asked if I could substitute it for a juice and was told no. I found that very strange considering beer is more expensive. The poutine was disappointing, there were very little cheese curds and the cheese curds didnt even taste that good.Wouldnt come back here again. I can go to other places that have tastier food and cheaper prices.
Perfect portion size, great coffee, good vibes. Really has that diner feel nailed. Would come again.
By far the best breakfast experience in Whistler! We have visited around a dozen breakfast establishments in our visits here and Southside Diner blew them all out of the water. Whether you are looking for a traditional eggs, meat and/or pancakes style or something a little lighter, they can accommodate you and do it well! If you are staying in Whistler Village area, it is well worth the 5 minute drive down the road - so make plans now to fuel up for a big day of skiing this morning at Southside Diner!
Delicious food and great service! Staff is very friendly (I miss when they used to be rude on purpose though!) I love reading all the fun signs!
Loved it. Great old school diner without being a novelty restaurant. Service was fast and friendly, but most importantly the food was delicious. We’re in Whistler for a week and we’ll definitely be back!
Huge portions of breakfast in a local diner setting, warm and homey feels. Cozy place from the cold outdoors. Not overly greasy, fresh food. This place has charm and quirk. I got the veggie omelet with no cheese - came with mushrooms spinach and tomatoes alongside country potatoes and toast. Matt got the grand slam with bacon eggs and potatoes.Add baileys to your coffee! On the table you’ll find all sorts of hot sauces, peanut butter, honey and jams.Employees were super nice and kept my mug of hot coffee full. Charming place, I would come here all the time if I lived here.Free parking out front. Free WiFi!!
Attempted to go for breakfast this morning. When we arrived the restaurant was full of people but upon trying to enter we were informed they were closed, when we asked why.. as we were obviously confused regarding all the current customers in the store, the front house employee was extremely rude and condescending towards us. Not impressed with the customer service.
Good pancakes, bit small on the hasbrown portion. Good service. Would come again.
Stood at the front of the line to make an order for 15 minutes. People behind me got seated. Got water and their orders taken. Not a word to me. Didnt bother waiting any longer
Quant small diner, food and service was good....however all of the kitchen staff which you clearly see were not wearing any masks during Covid protocols...would have been 5 ☆
You should definitely avoid this Creekside classic (or at least until I have my table) Heuvos rancheros is my favorite - earlier in the day. Dinners are great too. Dont go! (At the mealtimes I am going)
Pancakes and breakfast were real good! Nice diner spot!
Great breakfast. Generous portions. Fast, friendly service.
Overrated!Food portions where small and undercooked. Atmosphere was hot and stuffy. Music blaring at 9am which made our experience uncomfortable. Would not recommend this place to anyone who want to have a peaceful environment.
Just everything you can find at a classic diner. Good vibe, good foods, friendly staffs. Love the decor, too, with old school style comic all over the place. Thought the price is expensive at first but considering the portion of food and the places location, not expensive at all. Definitely will be back next time Im in town.
This is where I normally am when I need breakfast near Whistler. Its pretty good solid diner food. Cheap and cheerful
Excellent place to eat. Serve by far the best pancakes ive ever had
My friends and I were waiting to eat there when the hostess rudely told us that a 15% tip was mandatory. Had we actually eaten there we would have left 20.
My girlfriend and I love stopping here before going to whistler. Excellent service and even better food. Its always busy but well worth the wait.
Well below average. The house potato fries smelled of oil. My avocado sandwich was tasteless. Overall, don’t go there.
I have been so alot of places in Whistler and nothing compares to the portions and the love you taste in the food. I would recommend this place to anyone whos not wanting to spend an arm and a leg for food, and loves bigger portions. Love this place!
Breakfast was huge! The waitresses were super kind. Will be back in winter! Thank you guys.
Great comfort food and excellent prices for being in a resort area. Great sense of humour with friendly service
What a little gem this place is...very friendly staff and great food.
Good food, no line-up, friendly service and clean.
Not particularly impressed by the food. Service seemed friendly though. Portion sizes are decently large and not too expensive given it is in Whistler. Visited here twice for dinner and breakfast since I was staying at Creekside on this trip to Whistler. At dinner, they had a lasagna and it was still frozen cold. They did rectify the issue, but those who ordered the lasagna sat around to wait while others essentially finished their meal in that time. Surprised they didnt check the temperature on that.As for breakfast, the poutine came without gravy. I was surprised that no one noticed that. Again, this was rectified, but then the whole poutine was then drowned in gravy, way too much for sure making the dish much too salty. They do get to be super busy and it isnt a large place.
Really good food! Great costumer service!
Hits the spot after a morning of adventuring. 6 of enjoyed our 6 choices.
Look up the definition of diner and you will find all the attributes of the Southside Diner. Stopped in for a bite after a great day on the slopes, and enjoyed almost every bite of our meal (meals are so generous that we couldn’t “clean our plates”). Wait staff is very friendly and the cooks are both friendly and talented. You can’t go wrong by choosing the Southside for a meal, and if you are looking for breakfast, you can have order it all day.
Good breakfast, very friendly staff.
Excellent food but too short hours. They close at 3 PM
Came for breakfast and it was tasty. They offer a variety of breakfast items and serve good portions. Very comfortable seating and reasonably priced for whistler BC.
Loved it! Great food and staff!
There are way better breakfasts joints that are less expensive in the area.
Its always such a pleasure to visit this spot. The hard working staff have become a staple / fixture in the community. Visiting Southside is so enjoyable. The service is always on point and the food is delicious. Today I had a 1/2 ass blueberry pancake with a side of bacon and it was exactly what I needed. Thank you for being a treasured landmark in Whistler.
Awesome ski lodge diner feel. Smaller space. In-door and some outdoor. 1-pg menu.Such good food.Reasonably priced.Great beer options.Wait time for a seat wasnt bad, they take your number and you can return for your table.Had the classic breakfast and the breakfast poutine.HIGHLY recommend breakfast poutine!!
Delicious breakfast, super cool old diner atmosphere. The hollandaise on the Benny’s could have had a bit stronger flavour. I would give it 4.5 stars but not possible here. Definitely an experience you want to take in when in the Whistler area. Maybe a good spot to check out before moving on to the Train Wreck.
I watched the cook cough into his hand then plate my sandwich... I took it togo then tossed it. Probably not heading back anytime soon..
Good wings, convienient spot!
Super yummy and affordable breakfast.
Food was amazing, such a cool restaurant inside, staff was so friendly and accommodating, would HIGHLY recommend the inside out grilled cheese it was sincerely to die for !!! Plus the prices are so reasonable which is hard to find in Whistler :)
Delicious food, great service and atmosphere.
One of my favorite. Every chance I have i will stop to eat. They are respectful of cleanliness to protect us from covid. food is best with a menu forcing me to return to try another menu item. lots of reason to return. important is the good service
Great cheap full sized breakfast. Came super fast. Quaint homey establishment. Id come back!
Best burger in Whistler(Reply: thats funny, Ive been telling people that for years cause I figured it had to be the case but good to have confirmation. Keep it up, #southside4life
Amazing American style diner
Nice little spot. Quite busy. Had to wait about half an hour for a table (covid rules so it couldnt be full)- but it was worth it. All the dishes we had were great!
Great diner in the heart of whistler. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy your delicious meal with a pinch of beautiful views of the Whistler Mountains.Server Kate knows the area really well and provided some good recommendations 👍🏻
Great food, very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it. We stop by and eat every time we are in the area. Their breakfast sandwiches are the best.
Food was good, would of like a little more meat on the smoked meat, choice of bread was delightful. Good people watching patio on a busy corner. Good service.
Ordered the multi berry oatmeal. Recieved flavorless oatmeal with a few dribbles of and a few dried berries. A few fresh or even frozen berries would have been better than Jam? Pretty sad excuse for a D-lux oatmeal. Manager was also not friendly.
