Worked with Rick..he was very helpful..even stayed late for my husband to get the Explorer! Great car..low miles..and best price around! However... we were told they would order an extra key fob for us.. its been over a month.. Weve text several time.. only to hear the same thing.. Ill check if its came in.. NEVER to hear another thing from them.. NOT to happy of how things have been followed up with. Seems like once the papers are signed.. they no longer care what theyve told you.. Sad because I was so happy they were showing to be very helpful..

Bought a car from here in October. The dealership didnt do anything to make the car clean when we left the lot. Take the car as is is the policy but I had to even transfer my own caps from my previous tires and the trunk lining was ripped out and they refused to fix it. They also informed us there are safety pieces missing from the spare tire set and we got a contract stating I OWE YOU the parts or replacement for the spare tire. Its obviously now April and still no replacement parts for our safety equipment. Terrible customer service- dont return phone calls or emails. Highly suggest staying far away from this amateur dealership.

Called with interest on two cars, they were listed on the website but not available (every location seems to do this, if the listing has one photo is not available to be looked at). They told me it would be a few days until they were ready and they would call me once they were available to be looked at. Received multiple updates which was appreciated. The last call I got was them telling me they came in but they already sold one. So not super great seeing as I was considering both. Keep your expectations low and possible be surprised if/when things go better. This is the second Hertz car sales lot Ive been in contact with and they both were not a great experience.

Had a great experience buying a Honda CRV with a no haggle pricing, and low pressure situation all around. Sam did an excellent job explaining all the maintenance plans without pushing anything. He truly was looking to find what made me the happiest and fit my budget.About 2 weeks after, I noticed the OBD port wasnt on my car (later found out it had fallen back behind the paneling). Doug was very attentive to making sure my car was fixed properly and the dealership would cover the cost.A+ customer service

Terrible experience. I went through the trouble and took the time to get my auto loan approved and after the manager Of Hertz found out that I was financing through my own bank, they claimed that the car was “sold”. I know they didn’t actually sell it because after the manager found out my loan got approved, they were trying to say that the price is supposed to be more than what they had originally told me. Complete waste of my time.

It has been over 6 months now for something as simple as a vehicle maintenance plan refund on a totaled car. I have filled out the request form and have gotten nowhere with my phone calls and emails. Very poor customer service. Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning. Good luck Hertz!

Doug Olsen(the manager) and Dave Allison (my salesperson) were both very easy going and helpful. Dave was very approachable and down to earth. There was none of the are your ready to buy today pressure that I had experienced in most of the car dealerships I had visited. Doug made sure that I was completely satisfied with both my purchase and my experience. Doug even offered to put me in a rental while a few very minor last minute repairs were being done to the vehicle we were purchasing . It was a very gracious offer but we did not need to take him up on it as we had another vehicle to use. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking to buy a good used car, at a fair price, and with none of the hassles or pressure experienced at most car dealerships.

Honesty is the best policy. That’s a good model to go by Hertz and fellow employees. Unfortunately for me I got the typical Salesman pitch (Jason Dominguez) “ Yeah it’s great coverage get it for piece of mind” -That’s a big fat NEGATIVE it’s more like waste of money and no upfront honesty. With added stress and hassles.2 star review.Sorry I strive on good quality honesty Customer Service. No repeat customer here.Unhappy Customer

RICK IS THE BEST ! he was super personable and knowledgeable! So was the guy who helped with finance .ON THE OTHER HAND .. the car was not as advertised and they gave me the run around before correcting the issue. Management talked down to us as if we didn’t know what we were talking about . Even though my S/O has a masters in mechanics. We bought the car anyways out of desperation and because rick was a wonderful salesman . I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK..

Best car buying experience of my life ( and Ive had some really terrible ones). I never thought I could find a newer vehicle in price range. Larry Skelly (sales associate) made it happen. He knew what I absolutely had to have, and what money I had to work with. He didnt try to over sell me, and found my perfect SUV. I couldnt be happier with the vehicle or Larry. If only all buying experiences were this great. I will absolutely recommend Larry and this Hertz Car Sales location to everyone. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

We drove 2 hrs one way to a Hertz Car Sales lot because it had been highly recommended to us. Our car suddenly died so we were ready to purchase one that evening. We test drove one, loved it, and went inside to start the purchasing process. Our salesman, Rick, was fine UNTIL he found out that we were financing through our bank instead of the dealership.Rick Latowicz and the manager Doug Olsen tried bullying us into financing with the dealership. They offered a lower interest rate with their reputable bank, made negative comments about our bank, and got visibly angry. They even said we could sign up with their bank and refinance in a few months with ours. This continued for 15-20 min. When they realized we wouldnt budge, they instead signed us up for the financing anyway. After they secretly signed us up (fraud/forgery, anyone?), Rick told us that we were all set. I again told him that we were NOT financing with them and the bullying continued. This round was shorter then they stonewalled us. They refused to continue the purchasing process that evening, saying that there was no way wed be able to drive off the lot with the new car regardless. They also said they according to company rules couldnt give us the car or even reserve it until the money was literally in the bank account from our bank. We were pre-approved, our bank had immediately sent them instructions for a balance transfer, yet they refused to call and go through with it.We had gone down on a Tues and Rick and Doug made us wait to come down again until Fri, when the money was finally in the bank. In the meantime, we borrowed a friends car, which was inconvenient for them.Doug called during this interim period, and again tried bullying us. We ended the call quickly. We called back with a rep from our bank to clarify the different things he had said to us and our bank. Dougs demeanor immediately changed when he realized he was also speaking to our bank, and he was suddenly very easy to work with. But he didnt give up. At the end, when we said wed bring a down payment, he said that wed have to get our check certified since we may have a newer bank account and there might be some issues with it.When we finally drove down again, Rick and Doug were very easygoing. I guess they had become resigned to selling us a car. We were able to leave quickly. We are appalled at the blatant dishonesty of Rick and Doug and how they treated us. The repercussions havent stopped--since they signed us up for financing without permission, we have received many offers by creditors in the mail, causing our credit score to take a hit from the unnecessary inquiries. We wonder how our info was sold to these other creditors, since we carefully reviewed the privacy statement we signed and Rick gave us a positive confirmation that our info would ONLY be shared with Hertz corp, unless we financed with them, and then only to the bank. That was a lie; them signing us up for financing without consent was obviously a violation of law.We were treated as if we were stupid, and fed unnecessary lies because they assumed we would blindly trust them throughout the process. The car we bought had one key/fob with it, and Rick told us that the 2nd one would be shipped to our home and it was on its way. We bought the car 2 months ago and it still hasnt come. I doubt it was ordered in the first place. *UPDATE* 2nd fob came a week after this review. The return address was where we bought our car. Hertz Corp has also shown up on our credit monitoring service as making an inquiry. We werent offered a 90-day guarantee for our vehicle. Its a conflict of interest for the people selling the car to also give you the money to pay for it. Obviously Rick and Doug were going to get kickback from us financing with them which is why they were irate when we refused. We will NEVER use Hertz again. If you have to buy Hertz, which you dont, try a different location. Or try a different company. If youre going to get screwed you might as well get free coffee.

Larry Skelly is upbeat, helpful, knowledgeable, and hilarious! We recognized each other from the Hertz Car Sales location in Schaumburg where I purchased my first vehicle, a Mazda2 Sport I named Breezy. Unfortunately, Breezy was totaled in a rear-end collision, which devastated me. I was convinced I would never find a car I liked as much as her, but thanks to Larry, my attitude shifted from pessimistic to optimistic. My positive experience at Hertz Car Sales in Crystal Lake aided me in moving forward from a traumatic accident and dealing with its aftermath.Larry warmly greeted me and my family as soon as we stepped foot on the lot. With every car I wanted to test drive, Larry backed it out of its parking spot and had it ready to go for me. I narrowed my options down to two sedans, the Hyundai Accent and the Kia Rio, and ultimately selected the Kia. I called my mechanic to schedule an inspection that day (Wednesday); however, the soonest he was available was Friday, which was Larry’s day off. Larry said he would come in on Friday, no problem. We agreed to meet at noon so that I could obtain the keys and get to my mechanic in time for my 1pm appointment. When I returned to Hertz, inspection invoice in hand, I informed Larry that the car needed a new wheel well for the front right tire. He drove the Kia to a nearby repair shop to order a replacement wheel well. Hours of securing financing and filling out paperwork followed. Larry and Joe the finance manager were pleasant and patient the whole time, walking me through the process and providing thorough answers to my questions. Prior to driving off in my “new-to-me” car, I mentioned that the gas tank was near empty, so one of Larry’s fellow coworkers fueled up my Kia. That was a nice touch on top of the exceptional service I received. To those in the market for a gently used car: Google “Hertz Car Sales” and browse their inventory online. You will find recent models in good condition with relatively low mileage for unbeatable prices! If you reside in Illinois, visit the locations in Schaumburg or Crystal Lake. I can’t speak for the Des Plaines and Chicago stores, but I imagine they’re just as great.

I normally dont do reviews but very angry. Had a very pushy salesman who left multiple calls and emails. My wife and I recently came to this location to purchase a car. We are a young couple with little experience in this area. The car was a great deal and we figured there had to be something wrong with it, but after our test drive, the only thing we noticed were the rotors. The manager, Doug, was willing to give us the money to cover the cost of rotor repair, but was clearly unhappy he had to do so. Our sales associate, Dave, was very friendly, but I feel his knowledge about the car itself was lacking. We decided go ahead and purchase the vehicle. The finance manager that helped us (Tim) was the most genuine person in the store. He was friendly and very helpful and made the financing part very smooth and quick. After completing the process, we paid our down payment and left happily with our new car. Upon arriving at home, we began to check the car over in more detail and noticed the tred on the tires didnt even pass the penny test. For those who might not know, the penny test is when you put a penny in the tred of the tires and if you can still see the top of Lincolns head, you NEED to replace your tires. This frightened us so we decided to ask Hertz a how their PDI test would allow this to pass. They said that they allow 5/32 to pass for the tred of a tire which is the bare minimum you should drive on. Ours was at 2/32 and when I asked Doug to measure it, his tool that he used somehow measured our tires at 15/32 (this is basically a half a inch)! That is what brand new tires measure at. I was not looking for free tires, I was looking for honesty. I want to make sure this didnt happen to someone else. Doug could have cared less. We were just a young couple that he could take advantage of, and thats what he did. I am sad that people would go out of their way to lie like this. Hertz says they are all about getting customer satisfaction... well they need to take a close look at Doug because if he is doing this to people, they will never have a satisfied customer.
