Having recently moved into the neighborhood, I have to say this is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to go get some breakfast in the weekend. Chill, the people are great, and it just feels like a homely place
Absolutely love the ambiance of this shop. Good coffee, incredibly friendly staff, and the most beautiful seating area (with a fountain!) in the back. Plants galore, and they do a great job at showcasing local talent with their products for sale inside the shop as well. The lemon cake is out of this world (but sells out way too fast and isnβt brought back often enough). Breakfast sandwiches are very good too!
Had the Breakfast Sandwich for lunch! It was great!! Usually stop in when close by, while waiting for my car to get fixed and grab a cup of tea and a scone. Always good and good atmosphere! Today had to wait longer, got the chance to eat. Perfect way to wait!!!
I love everyone that works there! Every. Single.one. The coffee and food is always great! I work nearby and it is my saving grace when I need a boost!
So the last time I had been to this place prior to my most recent visit was some time ago. I really didnt see much innovation on the menu, but the best of my favorites were still proudly on display. The major changes had more to do with the patio area which is now lacking the open relaxed ambience it had before. The major causes are the loss of the fruit tree and the closing of half of the patio area to private parties.
Finally made it in to this El Sereno coffee shop. Super down to earth feel./ The owner Eddi and the staff are very friendly, and really educated baristas. Lots of local community vibes and local support throughout. I ordered the Cafe de olla and a coffee cake. Between those 2 and the big shaded patio with quaint fountain, I honestly dont know which is my favorite part... I guess I will just have to go back to figure it out.
Got the iced Cafe de Olla with oat milk but couldve used more milk it was very strong.
Youd think with all the boba tea houses thered be a shortage of innovation and possibilities, but despite being nearly 60 miles away, I think I found a new favorite.Already I had eaten a fair share, had dessert (twice) prior to coming here right at closing time, and eas already plotting second dinner at the nearby City Thai restaurant because theyre open until 10pm. At first I didnt really pay attention to the menu but after waiting for the bathroom I had a decent view of the line and how things are assembled, which definitely made me reconsider my first thought.
My favorite local place that serves up the perfect breakfast sandwhich. Its small and quaint and the cutest little sanctuary.
Seriously my favorite cafe in So Cal. They have a gorgeous back area with a fountain, lemon tree, agave, buddhas, Guadalupe, etc. they have a large selection of tea if you dont like coffee. They have a lending library outside for the community where you can pick up or drop off books to add to it. They carry Homeboy Industries baked goods. I recommend the coffee cake its amazing!!! They have local art up and events. Love, love, love everything about Holy Grounds. Also a plus they are close to Cal State La
Holy Grounds is a small coffee and tea shop located on industrial section of El Sereno. It has a hippy and chill vibe. A good place to grab breakfast in the morning. I ordered their 16oz iced coffee and cinnamon bagel with cc. I like it because its a strong brewed coffee. However, the bagel was dry and somewhat hard in texture. Prices are competitive and fair. Staff were nice, competent and professional. Outdoor patio is under remodelling which sucks and their side street seats are very limited. Indoor seats are very limited to two small tables with four people seating capacity, hence they limit a 15 minute occupancy time. Parking is on the sidestreets only. Business hours are from 8 am to 4 pm. Overall, I recommend this coffee shop and I will definitely visit again.
This place it pretty cool. great atmosphere. I am really a fan of their iced coffee. The only downside is the place is small but other than that it is phenomenal.
Nice little coffee shop, I will go back again.
Cafe de Olla was soo good! I also recommend the tuna sandwhich and cheese danish
A coffee shop gem. Such a cute place with a solid cup of Joe. Found my new coffee spot.
Awesome place that takes you away from Alhambra where you feel youre in the bougie part of silver lake or to go fancy that youre in another country. Beautiful layout with lots of space and character. Importantly good coffee and WiFi too with lots of street parking. Wonderful option for doing work and feeling a tad better doing it too.
Delicious cafΓ© de la olla. Very friendly staff and the place is very nice.
Love this place. Been eating here for years. Theyre offering vegan options now I was told. Super friendly family owned place
Absolutely love coming here! Best coffee I have ever had! Also friendly staff and the owner Steve is so welcoming. I would choose this over any major coffee shop!
Coffee cake (partially eaten of course!) And gaming in the morning! Came here for the cafe de olla and the delicious coffee cake! Parking is hit or miss here and be careful, the cars drive fast on this street! Place has a cool vibe to it and has an outdoor section that is great for relaxing or working!
Its really just fine. Not very good. Not very bar.
I love this place. First, the batistas are always friendly and outgoing. The place itself is just quaint. Either you sit inside and enjoy a cheap beverage, good wifi, and plenty of seating, or you go on the patio and enjoy some shade and get some good work/reading done. Either way, this place is perfect
Amazing coffee, great ambience, plus goodies from local vendors make holy grounds the perfect neighborhood spot. Donβt forget to try the coffee cake!
Holy Grounds is my favorite local coffee spot. Delicious drinks, friendly staff and beautiful setting. I love that I can find unique things made by local artists.
Great coffee and relaxed area to socialize
Peaceful outdoor patio.
Fantastic iced mocha!
I loved their Earl Grey ice tea latte! It was freshly brewed and the tea itself was so aromatic. I also had their weekender bagel, which has tomatoes, basil, salt and pepper. It was so simple but so tasty. I cant wait til they open up their patio again it feels like its been under renovation for a really long time!
Good coffee, friendly staff, and a cute secluded outdoor area makes this cafe perfect to start your day!
Coffees amazing.. cookies are bomb and the bagels are always go to.. wish it would open back up
Love this little spot. The people there make it great. More than a coffee shop, this cafe is dedicated to the community in El Sereno. When the patio was open they hosted little events and they carry art and creations from local artists. Itβs a cool place to visit.
Tucked in a small corner but the lunch deals were fabulous. Variety of options to choose from at just$8.95.I had vegetable korma and my friend tried chicken saag and both of the lunch specials were tasty. recommend this place as the prices are not too high.Best indian restaurant to choose from in LA.
This is a cozy & quaint spot for coffee. I chose the Mexican mocha this time. The flavor was mild, not overly sweet - which is fine for me. They also have unique gift items from local artists. Support small business in more ways than 1 by stopping by here for a coffee & local art.
This was my first time at the Black Cow Cafe. Love the vibe and our server Victor. He was friendly and engaging the moment we walked in. He told us he has been here for 24 years.
The pastries are awesome. The chocolate come was so tasty. The apple danish was tart, sweet, and super flaky. The tea selection is wide and carried. Good, simple coffee options. Its got a homely, cozy quality and its all very welcoming.
Why donβt we have more places like this in Oakland? So dope!
I love buying local. Holy Grounds is not only a local coffee shop, they also buy local. I enjoyed one of the best scones Ive ever tasted, a large cranberry filled scone, fresh from Homeboy Industries kitchen. I also tried a cafe olla; the cinnamon and sugar in the drink was glorious. The staff were friendly and welcoming and I will definitely be returning in the near future.
Just a very cool chill place to either wake up or wind down to
Cute coffee shop, great coffee.
Love this coffee shop! The Mexican chocolate they add to their drinks is delicious. I ordered the tomato soup and grilled cheese special last week and it was amazing. I also love the atmosphere--everyone has always been friendly and helpful when I come in. They also have a great take a book leave a book library that they keep out front. It is always filled with a variety of books.
Get their signature cinnamon iced coffee! Its really unique and delicious. The patio is currently being redone, so seating is limited inside. There are a few seats on the inside and more may be added in the front. I met the owner and he is a true local business owner who cares about the community and his small business. Fun spot, definitely charming.
Friendly staff, good atmosphere, tasty creative coffee drinks.
This coffee shop is more of a place on the go, unless you enjoy having your drinks outside on the sidewalk. This spot will have a decent variety of drinks and pastries. The seating selection is quite nice. Unfortunately it was a chilly day, but I can imagine wanting to be outside and sitting in the nice seating area.
Cafe de olla is amazing here!
It is relatively small however, really charming! I had their iced vanilla bean latte which was delicious. Its a perfect place to sit down and read or journal!
What a great spot to relax! When visiting CA, this is a nice go to spot for a safe spot to smoke with like minded individuals. Ray is such a joyful person who welcomes you with open arms. The back patio is super comfy.
Very cute atmosphere. It always seems packed but by the time you get your order a table will open up. They have a wide variety of lattes to try the most famous being the birthday latte. Dont be afraid to get it if you think Ill will be too sweet. It actually has a nice balance.
Lovely lil gem
Amazing lattes and pastries. Everything I have tried has been delicious. The staff recommendations are on point. The quality of coffee and tea is superb. The milk they use is equally delicious. The cafe has a great vibe and friendly staff.
Wonderful dinner. Terrific service from Staff. Made to feel extremely welcome by the manager .
Another amazing coffee shop in CA. This one is another one of my absolute favorites. The coffee is always strong and delicious, they have a beautiful space in a great location, and friendly / fast service. My only qualm is they do not have enough seating, like most coffee shops in the city.
I have never had a bad cup of coffee here! Every employee is friendly, the modern atmosphere and variety of music makes for a perfect meeting place. Ceiling to floor windows in the front and back fill the place with natural light. I highly recommend this place for a study break, grabbing coffee to go, or just an afternoon meeting.
Sweet old-school coffee spot. Killer garden/patio and fair prices for good coffee and eats. Very community-oriented and well worn in.
Super cool comfy spot. The sandwiches are delicious! Very knowledgeable staff. The patio is an awesome place to study or even catch up with a friend! One of my all time favorite spots to drink coffee at in Los Angeles. Hands down. Highly Recommend!
Holy ground this coffee is god
This is a quiet place with soothing jazz and good coffee (a little expensive though). The staff are super nice. Absolutely perfect for studying and working.
Holy Grounds is sunshine in the darkness! Glad to see you open.
Always great service and very accommodating staff. Great coffee shop! I loved the machiato. The space inside was nice to work from. I liked the art. The baristas were also very friendly.
Awesome little spot. Delish matcha and lattes. Super cool peeps working in this shop. I loved the local art/tidbits for sale. Canβt wait to go back when the patio opens.
Believe the hype! Dont worry about the line. If you are serious about a quality cup of coffee this place is worth the wait and the cost. I am so glad that I stocked up when I was there on some coffee beans, their single pack french press packs and some other goodies! If lived near any of these in the CA Bay area I would be a regular and go out of my way for this coffee!
I popped in here for a coffee recently with lil expectations but I was delighted with this place. They have very kind and welcoming people behind the coffee bar, a nice selection of drinks, clean place and restrooms, very comfy seats, and good coffees, lovingly crafted. Its a bit of pricey but worth what you pay for. What a happy find!
Always love it here! Friendly faces, delicious coffee, give and take book shelf and local artists featured in their shop. Very excited for them to reopen their patio! Hopefully someday soon
I like this Holy Grounds Coffee and Tea for its efficiency and choice location. Just a short stroll from the Powell Station and located in a quaint area away from the bustling streets. It can be pretty packed in the morning but the line will move quick with the quick . Its worth it for that smooth New Orleans ice coffee and piping hot latte.
Amazing. Prepare yourself for a line, but the people watching and chemistry happenings behind the counter will keep you entertained. If you get the eggs and toast, be aware that it will come with two eggs and two thick slices of bread. My aunt and I both got an order, but we couldve easily split. Our cappuccino was amazing and the food was good too.
My favorite place ever π₯°
Holy Grounds Coffee and Tea is an awesome local coffee option. This location in particular is a bit hard to find. You have to turn right off of market street and turn left to get inside. Youll see the blue bottle logos in the window. Its not a great place to spend time or work, given that it has very few places to sit and isnt the best area. Id recommend leaving ~10 min for your drink to be prepared. All that said, it is great coffee!
Amazing beverages and i love their new outdoor seating
Really great coffee and tea in a very cute cafΓ©. Maybe one of the best matcha lattes Ive ever had. In addition to having good coffee and tea, they sell local crafts from the community such as candles, jewelry, and handmade toiletries. However, be prepared for a bit of sticker shock, especially for East LA. Most of the drinks and snacks are on the pricier side. Two coffees will set you back over $10.
This cafΓ© is surprisingly spacious and is quiet during the week, which is great for studying. Its quaint and helps you forget that youre in the busy city. It also has reliable wifi. Its rather expensive for just tea but the prices seem alright for everything else. I plan on coming back.
My favorite place to go to for good coffee/tea in addition to the chill ambiance. The owner is really nice & welcoming. Awesome cultural artwork displayed throughout the store. This place does amazing things for the community so i never mind spending my money here!!!
Certainly, the best coffee and the best place for coffee. Coffee is always fresh. The process of preparing coffee based on espresso is fascinating. Definitely recommend. I can safely say that this is my favorite place.
Great coffee, huge tourist trap. I too came here as a tourist and it was jam packed. The coffee was great but if you are a local its not the best place to relax and enjoy your coffee. The toast they serve was on giant bread which I guess could because it cost so much.
Just like Voltaire said, its not holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. Actually dont listen to Voltaire. He was a hack. This place has great food and coffee. Sadly, their patio is being renovated but will hopefully be reopened in the next few months.
There is no where to sit. Its coffee on the go your very own walk through coffee spot.. It used to be a nice place to decompress now its all about memories.
I love this coffee so much. I just moved to the Bay Area and I am ecstaticβ to find these coffee shops are everywhere. I lived in San Diego and made multiple trips to Los Angeles just for this coffee. I am glad that it is now only a 10-minuteβ drive for me to find Blue Bottle rather than a 2 1/2 hour drive.
I really enjoy this coffee shop. The staff is my favorite part. They are kind and great to talk to.The coffee is good. They have so many drink options they can make for you.Their tea is good, too. Lots of varieties. And its loose leaf for the most part.Their sandwiches are great. Freshly made and some pre-made in the cooler if youre in a hurry. There are a lot of pastries, too. The coffee cake is great.
Its like a coffee lovers paradise. The options are vast and very interesting to choose from. I actually had two coffees from here at one go!If youre in the bay area its worth the shot.
This is such a treat. Its like a little corner of heaven. Its in an industrial part of town but once you walk in you can hear the sound of running water and smell the fresh dirt, it feels as if youve transported into another world. I love it. There are couches, comfy chairs, the vibe is relaxed and cozy. theres also a people friendly cat. I had a mango smoothie it as delicious. They have coffee and treats too. This place is work checking out.
This place was great years ago. However, I recently went back and the place has changed drastically. Theyre currently doing constructions so the back seating area was closed (the reason why I liked this place so much). There were 2 female baristas working and they werent the friendliest. Back in the day, there was a gentleman who worked there. He was very friendly and helpful. Not sure if he still works there now. The drinks were also mediocre. The iced coffee was very watered down and the orange smoothie also tasted watered down.
Came here around 6:30PM for the first time. Wanted to try their Kyoto coffee but they were out of it. I ended up ordering the New Orleans iced coffee. It was really good - just wished they offered more size options. Will try the Kyoto tomorrow morning.
Excellent coffee (smooth and well roasted). Nice atmosphere, very nice baristas. Cool chicken shirts for purchase. Whats not to like?
This is a hidden jem, with great food & drinks. The friendly service also makes it much more welcoming and great!
Super friendly staff. Tons of pastries. Outdoor patio where you have to go inside the shop to access, outside on the sidewalk there is a quaint leave one-take one library. Very New-Highland Park-vibes. They take card. Their cafe de olla is yummy and available in both hot and iced; I ordered it hot but sadly it was barely room temp.
Delicious breakfast sandwich!! Wide selection of teas too! Lovely place to start my morning.
The service here has changed tremendously over the last year. The service use to be excellent;now itβs hard to get anyone to wait on you. The coffee cups are all small now but same prices for a larger one; they only have one size. The dog is allowed to wonder where it likes even behind the counter where the food and coffee are being prepared. The patio is closed and the inside tables all two are always dirty.I use to go 5 days a week. I stopped about two months ago it just keep getting worse.
They have a wide array of floral and herbal teas, vegan desserts, and many pastries. The coffee is tasty, I had the latte. PLUS the seating outside is hip, calming, unique, and ethereal. Come down on friday nights to hear 3 different local artists/musicians perform their own original songs!
Good sandwich.
