Ive been wanting to try out this place for a while and it doesnt disappoint! The okonomiyaki was delicious along with my favorite drink of the night. It was a spicy umeshu (plum wine) that was first sweet, then tart, and spicy. Usually flavors like that would clash. But that drink really brought together those flavors in such a delicious way! If the Ippongi is still on the menu, definitely order a glass!

Wow just delicious and amazing. The ebi fry and tomato salad were revelations and perfectly balanced and seasoned, cooked to perfection. I already ate most of the tomato salad before I got a picture and forgot completely when the shrimp came out because it looked and smelled so good. Wonderful.

Ive been here twice - once with my sister, and once with a group of 8. Both experiences were excellent! With my sister, we were seated at the bar and ordered a bunch of small dishes off the menu (the Ebi Fry was a standout), as well as a carafe of sake to split between the two of us.My boyfriend booked the private room in advance for my birthday on a Sunday night—in order to reserve it, you need a party of 6 or more. My friends and I split a few dishes: the eggplant skewers, the Ebi Fry (just so good, really), and the okonimiyaki. All were phenomenal. We also split 4-5 carafes of sake between the 8 of us. Service was amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. One thing to note is that parking can be pretty rough. Valet was $10, and at the end of the evening we ended up having to wait upwards of 10 minutes to get our keys.Despite that, I cant recommend this spot more and I will definitely be back.

Sake and small plates are the name of the game here. The sake list is extensive and most can be ordered by the glass, carafe or bottle. (A few are bottle only.) Sit at the bar and talk to the bartender about what you like and theyll guide you in the right direction. Were generally fairly sake-illiterate in this country, so the guidance and information from the experts behind the bar is much appreciated.Theres also a few Japanese beers and sojus to choose from as well. The Japanese small plates (they call them drinking snacks) are great too. The okonomiyaki is amazing (available with corn & cheese or pork belly ... both are excellent) and the hirame crudo is not to be missed. The kaki fry (deep fried oysters) are a treasure! The sleeper hit was the kara-age, which is Japanese fried chicken. (Think bite-sized pieces of tender chicken perfectly breaded and not greasy at all.) Id come back for this alone. The atmosphere is small and intimate but carries a real energy. It feel alike youre both part of a community and having a small, romantic moment with who you came with. The staff was attentive and helpful. They want to help you discover sakes youll like.Prices are fair. Parking is on the street. Youll probably have to wait for a minute if you get there at a traditionally busy time (like weekends or 7pm).Good drink, good food, good atmosphere. Whats not to love.

Pricey! But great sake collection! All dishes were delicious and well prepared. Gets crowded but it seems like a place people just stop over so the tables get turned over quickly. Staff was efficient but a bit grumpy. The sweet potato used the best type of sweet potato!

This place was great. Extensive sake menu. Good food. If you get there around 7 on a Friday, you can easily find a seat. Place fills up soon after.

Sake menu is EPIC, but dont expect the wait staff to be much help - ask for a recommendation and theyre casually non-specific about what to get. If youre down for a bit of a sake adventure, some good food and a great atmosphere, try it!

Very coo, very busy. Dizzying array of sakes. Food was good, shared several dishes with my two companions. Young crowd on Friday night. I was glad we went no later than we did, because there was a line waiting to get in later. In spite of this never felt rushed to vacate table. Fun evening.

Been to the related restuarant next door and loved it, also love this spot, which is more of a bar/food set up. Sake selection is exquisite, service great, prices appropriate. Get a group together and book the little snug in back.

Ototo is a small intimate Japanese sake bar serving up small delicious bites. Its decor is minimal and elegant thats reminiscent of the many bars and restaurants that Ive visited in Japan. Because of its size and popularity, expect a wait.Happy Hour:Specials for sake+appetizer combosDrinks:There is a wide selection of sakes to choose from. From where I was sitting it looked like they had some on draft.Food: Overall the food items were delicious, but the portions were small for the price. If youre looking to get full here, youre going to have to pay a little more.1) Katsu Sando - Loved the crispiness of the katsu in addition to the soft but lightly toasted bread. It was a bit pricey for such a small portion.2) Kara-age - the fried chicken was incredible juicy and soft. I really liked the spices around the battered skin.3) Sweet potato - flattened japanese sweet potato with furikake and other ingredients. The contrast between the crunchy topping and the softness of the sweet potato made it an enjoyable dish.Service:Pretty quick. Its a very small place so if youre sitting at the bar, you might be asked to move over a seat or two to make room for other guests who are waiting.Parking:Valet was in $5-$10 range. Street parking is limited.
