Been coming to this shop for years and everytime I come in I always leave happy because the owner and the workers are really just dope people! Keeping the scene alive I love it! It’s organized and they always let you know where you can get anything if they know of it. No snobby attitude . No wanting to one up you on where they been or who they know haha. I love it here!

What a great place!!! It feels like one of the last old real punk stores. I was looking for Misfits merch and was instantly helped by Ben who had great insights on the band, their books and pins. They have a great selection of t-shirts, posters, pins and books! I left happy with tons of cool stuff. Definitely will be back for Ben and more shirts and pins! Its really cool to go to a place where the person working there is able to not only help but tell stories and give tips along the way!

What can I say about Headline Records besides perfection. I might be bias because of my love for the Punk & metal genres and accompanying sub-genres but i don’t care.. this place is fantastic. A great selection of punk, ska, metal, hardcore & on a great selection of vinyl, cds and cassettes (yep those totally punk eps on cassette are in-stock). This is where I get most of my t-shirts (no shame) they have a huge selection and will sometimes order for you if they don’t have something. Jean is a fantastic dude that is super nice, great to deal with, a real OG punk and just a great guy. His love for punk music is easy to see because it really shines through the store. If you want a tourist spot go to Amoeba (no hate) but if you want a record store that feels more like your best friends house, go to Headline. Oi Oi Oi!!!

Dont listen to any negative reviews. I stopped in when I was visiting in LA. My buddy lives right around the corner and I stopped in before I left town. The owner was super helpful and didnt mind working with me to find the right shirt quality I was seeking. Ended up buying a couple of shirts and will 100% be retuning in a few months when I move!

Record city is by far one of the best locations to go for looking for vinyl. I have been to all the other locations such as m-theory, off the record, thrift trader and have found that if your looking for used records at a reasonable price then record city is your best bet.

Ive been meaning to visit this record store for about 2 years, and today I finally got the opportunity. The owner (John) was very fun to talk to, friendly, and, most importantly, knowledgeable. He definitely knows a thing or two about hardcore. John helped me pick out the essential records for my small but growing record collection from a really wide variety of both vinyl and CD. In addition to that, he also has tons of patches, stickers, mugs, t-shirts, books, you name it. So, in short, the variety is huge, the owner is really nice and the overall attitude of the store is very positive. Do yourself a favor and visit this place!

This is, hands-down, the best store for punk records and collectibles in the Los Angeles area. There may be other stores that are larger or have more content, but I would gamble that this store has a vaster selection w/ a much better method of organization. Plus, their customer service is not to be beat.No matter what youre looking for, traditional punk, hardcore, pop punk, crust, powerviolence, d-beat, etc., Head Line has it all. If you have questions, the friendly staff is more than happy to go in depth w/ you to make recommendations, so you get what you want. They also allow for returns and exchanges, if youre not happy w/ your purchase. I cant say that Ive been in too many record stores that offer this level of service.Their selection of punk vinyl is not to be beat, and they have the best punk t-shirt collection around, save for buying from the Internet. The prices on items are a bit high, but you have to understand two things: 1) Most of what they sell was not mass-produced, so much of it is not easy to come by, and 2) They are located on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, which is prime real estate, and the rent isnt cheap. But, given what you get in return, its a fair deal.If youre a fan of punk music, I highly recommend you check out Head Line Records!

FINALLY, Ive found a one stop music shop for all my punk and metal needs. Just received my package in the mail yesterday and I was blown away by the awesomeness of each item I ordered. This doesnt appear to be bootleg merch and if it is, I sure as hell cant tell. I love shopping with Headline Records because everything is very reasonably priced and you always know which items are in stock. Also, I received my package in the mail before I even had time to check the tracking information. Ill be shopping with yall again!!!ALL HAIL HEADLINE RECORDS!!!

This is a rad, badass little shop that has some serious t-shirt options. Its the grunge-punk wet dream, with t-shirts for every thing from municipal waste, to bad religion, to slayer and minor threat and way too many more to name drop. The dude behind the counter was well informed and super helpful. I will definitely be back.

I found this merchant to be a specter of what it hopes to be.Shortly after perusing the selection, it became apparent that the vinyl was in fact the shell of a record; the physical vinyl was not even encased within the label. After a few minutes of reviewing the inventory, it became clear I was looking at boot leg upon boot leg. The owner - or whomever is in charge of displaying their collection - places empty record sleeves on display. I became too incensed to even consider inquiring where the actual product was.Perhaps most disturbing was an ostensible Ramones record. Upon inspection, it was a Ramones cover wrapped around a United States Postal Service Priority Mail envelope, to give the appearance of integrity. Ah, the irony of ironies has finally manifested itself in this den on Melrose. As within any city, there are certain redeeming qualities to any merchant. This, oppositely, is one of those endeavors which is hugely disappointing, despite having the trappings of a true vinyl emporium. Please do avoid.

If you like punk of any kind, this is the store to go. From mainstream to sub-genres of sub-genres, this small hole in the wall probably has it. If youre looking for another genre, youll need to look elsewhere. Parking is street only, so plan accordingly.
