This place is a jewel. Very quaint and personal. The employees very friendly and the service awesome. The coffee and food fabulous. I will add this place to my go to list of cafes 😊
Respectful employees, a quality product, and a unique environment. four stars instead of five because of the predictable confused ideological accents commonly found among such young progressive urbanites. read c.s. lewis.
This is no replacement for my Highland coffee. Cant really put my finger on any one thing. Absolutely uninviting. Baristas so involved in their own convo, didnt bother to notice two others customers. Sparse areas for drinking and dining. Never saw a single employee disinfect anything, including soiled hands. Disappointing.
Nice place but you feel you dont belong if youre over 30. Mocha had little to no flavor. No size variety.
Great selection of different coffees and teas getting around the world. Small selection of pastries. Customer service is great! My husband forgot to order my drink as a decaf and there was no problem when he went back up to change it.
It was a serious disappointment. Their pumpkin spice latte was super blan and had no flavor. Traveling all over I like to try unique coffee shops where I’m traveling and this one was super close to our Airbnb. It was disappointing as this was my first coffee drink of my trip and I was excited to go out and try something new. It lacked flavor and I honestly wasn’t sure there was any coffee in it. It may have just been one shot which is super weak. :(
Quills was better. Coffee was fine. They accommodated to what you like to drink. Loved that they had seasonal items.
Chill neighborhood Italian style coffee shop. Kinda quirky place, in addition to selling freshly ground coffee from beans they roast in house (actually in back of house.... You can see the grinder and roaster up close) they have lots of food items, local art on the walls for sale and classic denim blue jeans.... because of course. Service was attentive & friendly, my coffee was good, I didnt have a chance to try any of the food yet but the denim jeans looks tasty.
Wonderful coffee shop in Germantown. They have a great vibe and good food/drinks. I love that they have good hours too! 7-7 everyday is very convenient. They also roast in house, and you can taste that quality in their espresso. I loved their mocha made with their house dark chocolate ganache - flavorful but not overly sweet.
Very good coffee, incredible baristas, and excellent food.
Love the variety and the heathly farm to table menu‼️
Good coffee. Good service. Good vibes.
Went in for a gift card for a friends birthday. Great shop with great coffee and the baristas are always nice.
Friendly, local and tasty!
The best coffee shop in Louisville! Thanks for all you do. Just some friendly advice- maybe consider offering to text someone when their order is ready if it will be a while. Or an order ahead option if that’s feasible? There was kind of a lot of people gathered there today and a lot were pulling their masks down to sip their drinks. I didn’t feel entirely comfortable during my wait. It would have been nice to wait in my car or away from the crowd. Again, I can’t thank you all enough for serving during this pandemic.
Sometimes difficult to find parking but great corner cafe.
Good service and delicious coffee, I suggest visiting here and enjoying your time.
Honestly, as a nurse, I believe In being safe, but I think they are a little over the top with the virus protections by making people go back outside. Mask and hand sanitizer is sufficient. However, you are touching my cup, lid, container and bags without wearing gloves and changing them between customers. I support being safe and taking precautions but it must involve all involved since it is spread through contact too.My rating is based upon the biscuit I received. For $6.50 I expected a large or incredibly flavorful biscuit sandwich. It was small and average tasting. Nothing about the sandwich made it unique or worthy of getting again. To make matters worse, they didnt add the bacon i paid for either. Biscuit, pourover and 12oz ground coffee was more than $30 with tip. Seattle residents make twice the income yet these are Seattle prices in Kentucky. I like Big Dog coffee, but this is my 2nd of 3 not so memorable experiences.Other than that, the Big Dog blend is rich and flavorful.
Good coffee. Wasnt hot but Im sure if I had asked, they would have heated it up for me.
Great coffee, friendly staff, fun atmosphere.
Good coffee pleasant workers.very nice
A wonderful neighborhood coffee shop with consistently tasty brew of the good stuff. I dig my coffee black and this place always delivers with a smile. Great spot!
The Americano was okay. I came mainly for a bag of the Big Dog blend. It is a very smooth flavorful cup of coffee. I seldom drive this far to get it though. I think the price is on the high side for a 12 ounce bag and americano. Staff is friendly.
Bean is the best little coffee shop. Everyone that works there is so kind. I love the coffee. The food is good whether you just want a croissant or your hongry enough for a sandwich or quiche, youll be fully pleased at bean!
Very cool decor and atmosphere! My husband and I were there one morning eating delicious sandwiches when a couple came in and had a small wedding ceremony in the back room! Such a friendly, cool place
Outstanding service! Love the ambience.
Very interesting little spot. Im glad I finally got to try it. Nice variety of coffee, tea, pastries, and food. Love the roasting area. This will be added to the destinations anytime Im near this area. And the people there were very friendly.
Ive just recently discovered this place and the food and coffee are both amazing. I went in for the second time today and everything I purchased was awesome. I was a little put off by the girl who rang up my order however. I understand everyone is trying to maintain a certain level of sanitation but its very off putting to have the cashier tell me shell be my hands when Im deciding what to tip. Most places Ive been into are spraying rubbing alcohol onto their credit card machines after each use. Instead the girl essentially asked me what button I intended to push so she could do it for me. I understand these are trying times but this is the only business where Ive had this type of experience experience and frankly they got a lower tip because of it. I gave the highest amount available without doing a custom tip but I didnt feel comfortable doing a custom tip without putting it in myself. I hope they address this practice because I really like this coffee shop and intend to return but if I cant put the tips in myself, the workers tips wont be as high as what Ive been giving at other businesses in town.
Friendly service and delicious food. Social distance compliant with easy ordering and pick up.
Cute place, yummy coffee. Maybe Im just cheaper than most but it was pretty expensive though.. I didnt order the cheapest things on the menu but still.. $13 for a slice of quiche and coconut latte is pretty hefty for a poor grad student. I guess Ill come back when I have a real job.
Fun atmosphere and good service. Their sandwiches are also a tasty treat to enjoy while enjoying one of their coffees. The iced coconut latte is my favorite!
We havent tried their food but their coffee is really good. We will try their food when we get a chance.
Great coffee; and what a pleasure to find a person roasting beans in the back room. Unfortunately, service was unresponsive to my questions. My recently toasted croissant sat by the counter until it cool down. I wished someone had called my attention. I’ll miss the coffee, not the place.
We stayed in an Airbnb near Bean. I love it. Great neighborhood coffee shop full of art and styled with old found items. They have great baked goods, too. Its also very bright. When you go in, it seems smallish, but theres a large backroom to drink your coffee in, too. My wife and I went there twice. A delight.
Terrific atmosphere and a simple, well done coffee menu. The Vietnamese coffee was amazing and the cold-brew is outstanding. One of the best in the city.
Best coffee I have EVER had, and Ive had coffee at dozens of locally owned shops across the country. Great atmosphere too
I am grateful for a cozy space such as Bean. Staff is always friendly and the tea is swell. Coffee, too. I just do not drink joe. Bean offers delicious treats and food. You can even grab vintage clothing off a rack from employees! The space has plenty of natural lighting and tall ceilings for breath. You will sell local artist and occasional galleries, too!Bean is a coffee shop that a good deal of folks in the East End should visit more. It isnt just your neighborhood coffee shop but a phenomenal place to work in an inspiring/uplifting atmosphere.Always worth passing fifty Heine Bros to get here!!
Love me some Bean! Hot latte...hot summer Louisvilleky
Really delicious coffee and food, plus friendly staff. The owner can be found in the back of the shop roasting coffee most days and it smells incredible. And a comfortable and spacious place to work!
Just moved to the neighborhood and very glad Im within walking distance of this place. It is cozy, quirky and inviting. The coffee is really good, and just tried the baklava which is divine! Looking forward to trying more items from their menu!
Absolutely love Bean!! The coffee is excellent!! My family and I go in there and dit for hours working on different little projects. The ladies that work there are really chill and laid back, theyll give you some recommendations if youre looking to try something new! We always get a couple of their Brie bagels, a banana berry smoothie, a mocha and lots and lots of coffee ♥️ The baked goods are also excellent quality. Its the perfect local coffee shop♥️
Im not sure I could mention enough good things here in this review about Bean. The owner is wonderful and all of the staff have been great on my many visits. Coffee is excellent and roasted in house. They also offer a number upgrade food items. And not to mention its super cute inside. it is nothing short of a wonderful addition to the little village of Schnitzelburg.
Unfriendly pretentious will never be back. Although we live down the street. I would rather go a distance to sunergos coffee shop or heine bothers.
This is the coffee shop Ive been looking for since the first wave coffee craze swept through in the 90s and left us with chain coffee shops on every corner. This is no Starbucks (thank god). This is a shop devoted to making good coffee, starting with the roasting. The bright, uncluttered space is perfect on a sunny or rainy day. If youre hungry, theres a nice little selection of bagels, pastries, sandwiches and salads.
Love the bean. Coffee and bagels are always awesome and the mini shopping layout is full of treasures you cant resist.
This place is so cute! Loved the environment and the vegan options!
This lovely eclectic art loving and humanitarian cozy coffee spot is delicious and fun !
Delicious selection of fresh whole beans...never buying grocery store brands again!
Bean is a lovely little coffee shop. It is exactly what I want out of a coffee shop. The coffee is delicious, the baristas are wonderful to interact with, and my day is always brightened by visiting.I regularly go there to read and drink a bottomless mug of coffee, and sometimes I get up extra early to make my way by on my way to work. Bonus points for having an art gallery in the back.
Billy and Megan are actually achieving a dream they dreamt of many years ago. Wonderful local fresh food and a FANTASTIC crew. We LOVE THE BEAN
I travel to this coffee shop at least once a week Im moving to the Pacific Northwest and Im going to be really sad to leave it behind. With a calm atmosphere, great coffee, and great company there is nothing to lose. I am a wastefree vegan and they offer real cups and plates. Seriously, give them a try. I even take my parrot with me, just an overall fantastic place
The coffee was wonderful. I loved the relaxed atmosphere. What a wonderful neighborhood coffee spot.
An interesting little coffee shop. They have a variety of drinks available, and they sell coffee beans that they roasted themselves. The baristas are considerate and knowledgeable and are willing to answer questions you may have about their products. This shop is one of my favorites to go to, since theyre open every day until 7 p.m.
I love their coffee. My wife loves their tea. My kids love their smoothies. We all enjoy the atmosphere and the muffins. Great local place.
Was a fine place to drink and work on my comp.
Bean has a quiet, artsy atmosphere. Great for studying/getting work done. The owner is kind and offers great coffee at reasonable prices.
Nice local coffee shop. They really balanced the atmosphere well. Good for lunch and breakfast! Get the morning bun!
Check out the Roaster, looks like its from another time yet has the New Paint look too.Local small batch greatness. We had coffee and looked at books from the coffee table while the staff fired up the roasster. The attention to deatail is what ultimately leads to the perfect cup. So dont distract.Just sit back and enjoy.
Decent. This is my first time being here. The staff is somewhere friendly. My miel is mediocre. The tall drinks are the size of mediums at most shops (for $5.50 + tip I want a large drink). The seating is... interesting. The atmosphere is busy to the point where its distracting. Not a bad shop, but I regret coming here. I expected more after reading the reviews.
Great coffee and food. Friendly service and prices comparable to chains. Im only giving 3 stars because the hours arent great. They are supposed to open at 8 on Saturday, which is kind of late for my taste, but today they werent even opened at 8.
Great vibe, great food selection, the Vietnamese coffee is amazing. The vibe is very relaxing and its a great place to work or write. Staff is very friendly.
I got the salami and cream cheese bagel, and my gf got the fruit and yogurt bowl. Both were really delicious! And the cold brew was excellent. Not to mention the service was super friendly
Cute little neighborhood cafe! The food was ok, had to jazz up my sandwich with some salad dressing. We sat in their for hours working on our computers and you could tell it was a local favorite. Located in the heart of #Schnitzelburg
Love this eclectic, Germantown original coffee shop. Some of the best coffee in the city, in my opinion.
Bean has a great atmosphere and the barista was super friendly. We didnt make it back for lunch but well certainly stop in on our next trip into town.
Great neighborhood coffee shop. Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.
I moved into Germantown/Schnitzelburg in March of 2018. One of my requirements when looking for a home was that I wanted to be in a neighborhood where there was a good, non-franchise, locally-owned coffee shop with a good eclectic vibe, within walking distance of the house. Bean is just that place for me. Great coffee and other drinks, tasty creative selective food menu, great staff - I highly recommend it.
Such a cute place with amazing drinks, food, people, and kitch!
*Update: Too bad the lady that is typically working the register is so rude. She has ignored me when saying hello a couple times and she has rolled her eyes at me on two separate occasions; once when I was trying to pay with my phone, another time when I asked if she would warm up two pastries I had just purchased. I wont be back solely because of her terrible attitude.*Amazing coffee and reasonable prices. The cafe has a great, relaxing atmosphere, with a more private backroom for getting work done.I love their bagged beans. They are on par with Quills in terms of quality, but seven dollars cheaper per bag. Pretty cool.
Nicest people, great coffee
Great coffee
I love stopping by here any time were in the area. Its my favorite spot to hide out with my husband.
Best coffee shop in the ville
GET THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
Im new to town and popped in for a coffee. I ordered the cortado, which was perfectly strong, as well as a slice of baklava from an area restaurant. It was perfect! The barista was super friendly and informative and the ambiance of the place was very cozy. Glad its in my neighborhood as I plan on going back frequently.
Edit: They are wheelchair/walker accessible, yay! This is a really delightful coffee shop. I had a cold brew and the melted brie bagel sandwich, and it was all so good. I love the aesthetic and character of the shop, especially the back room where you can stare out the giant glass garage door. Outlets are abundant. More comfortable couches/chairs would be nice, but that wasnt an issue when it was minimally crowded. Also, one of the baristas told me later, gator! as I was leaving, which was possibly the most charming thing a restaurant worker has ever told me. Its across the street from The Pearl and just a block or two away from Kroger, Eiderdown, Four Pegs, etc. Definitely give Bean a try if you want a good bagel sandwich or need a retro Louisville hangout to get some work done.
Great coffee people, there are really nice!
We come down for one weekend every year, this will be our go to from now on!! Everyone here is so nice and the tea and coffee are just as good
Love it. Great place to go with my wife for a few minutes of down time.
Cute local coffee shop with great coffee and breakfast treats
Great coffee, food and friendly staff. A perfect neighborhood place to grab a quick bite to eat. They carry local Wiltshire pastries and have some nice sandwiches for lunch. They also have wifi and room for co-working.
Yoga on sundays and breakfast afterwards, like my own little morning paradise. Also a great atmosphere to work or catch up.
Good iced coffee, (not bitter), nice turkey and Swiss (huge sandwich and came with chips). House wifi and large windows for lots of light as well. Going to try the Vietnamese coffee next time. Barista and Owner super nice!
Nice place to meet. Great coffee.
They know coffee. Great place to chill.
Not too busy. Decent espresso, but no frozen drinks. Small bakery selection.
Hard to find a place to sit, but lovely spot to drink great coffee.
We love this corner shop. Super yummy and great beens
Beautiful and comfortable decor. The baristas were hospitable and the coffee was on point.
Amazing tea! Nice place!
Barista was very nice! loved the coffee and atmosphere ♡ great place to write poetry
Great coffee, great atmosphere, and great food! The sandwiches, salads, and curry tuna are incredible!
Nice spot for a brew.
