I kept putting off writing a review of Highland Coffee because I always forget to take pictures when Im there. And then I found out they were closing. This bright spot in the Highlands has offered delicious coffee and a safe, inclusive space for many people over the years. Im so sad to see them go. I stood in line for one last pumpkin latte yesterday, and was happy to see the community giving them such a busy sendoff. Best wishes to the owners and workers who made this place so special.

If youre a coffee connoisseur then this is a good place to check out. Fun, friendly and knowledgeable staff with high quality crafted coffees and teas. Baked goods, if youre into that kind of thing, And they make their own whip cream! Highly recommend it.

I’m grateful for Highland Coffee Company being in The Highlands neighborhood for 22 years. I enjoyed the Matcha Smoothie and much more. Grateful for the memories at this coffee shop.

I don’t get to go here often because it’s not very close, but whenever I’m in the area it’s a must! The staff is always so friendly & helpful. They have an amazing menu; there are so many choices & unique items that really set them apart from everyone else. I especially love the different flavors of whipped cream you can add. I also think it’s awesome that they make an effort to cut out waste & use sustainable products. It’s a great atmosphere & the products are reasonably priced & always very yummy.

Everyone loves a good local coffee shop and Highland Coffee Company is just that. The clean, modern interior is inviting. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about all the different options for a good coffee drink experience. I also really love the plant based options. Oat milk lattes are my new favorite thing. Ive seen paper straws around town before, but this my first time seeing a pasta straw; literally a drinking tube made out of pasta. I used it, I loved it, I wish I could find them in the store because that was really cool and completely bio-degradable. We enjoyed the small, but really nice outdoor covered patio. Loved it and cant wait to come back!

Excellent local spot with a robust menu thats vegan and vegetarian friendly. If the lack of meat options disturbs you, head over to Heine Brothers. Despite being fairly keen on usual breakfast options (bacon, sausage) myself you dont even miss the meat here. My usual is a blended Kona Mocha, a spinach feta croissant, and a carrot cupcake for later. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and prompt service.

Great cozy coffee house. Very vegan friendly. All sorts of vegan desert option. Nice breakfast options too. They have best chai and their macadamia milk is awesome! They have USB plug ins which makes it super easy to charge phone without an outlet adapter.

Love, love, love Highlands Coffee. Great vibes, coffees, and food. I think the thing I love the most are the flavored whipped creams. My only complaint is that its nowhere close to where I live, so I find myself driving 25 minutes out of the way.

This place is really a sort of social hub (and was even more so before the Rona.) Its the chill, friendly atmosphere, plus their covered patio (which is smoker friendly.) Highland Coffee has tasty coffee with a rotating variety of beans and good vegan food. This place can be like a home away from home.

Highland Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in Louisville. The owners and employees are wonderful people, the food is delicious, and I am comfortable anytime I go in. Theyve maintained a high standard of safety and cleanliness before and throughout the pandemic.

Not sure why Ive never reviewed this place. Highland is my local coffeeshop of choice. As long as you know where it is (so goes the running joke)! They always have a friendly staff. You will leave with a smile on your face. They have taken COVID seriously and are strictly adhering to social distancing and outdoor dining policies - part of their parking lot is now reserved for seating, too. They have great breakfast wraps and lunch paninis (be sure to get some pepper butter!) and they of course, dessert options for any time of day. Theyre even vegan friendly, and they can tell you all about which things to avoid if you have food allergies.Bottom line - this is THE meeting spot for the Highlands. You never know who youll run into when youre sitting there drinking your roast. Theyve got options for the aficionados, but their menu isnt so complicated that your head hurts trying to make a decision. Its a great local spot and I highly recommend!

I was in line to order coffee and the Cashier was having a long chatty conversation with a friend as if I had nothing to do but wait in the conversation to end. After waiting in line for 15 minutes and not being acknowledged as a customer I left. Very Rude!

August 2021. Visitor to Louisville who went in to get coffee. I asked for a mug and was told they were not using them. Oddly enough they were sitting out on the counter. When asked why I could not have a mug when they were obviously visible I was told “because the owner said so”. Not good customer service.

We stopped by for a Saturday afternoon pick-me- up and left happy. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and friendly. There was a women at a table near us being obnoxious and rude and the staff handed her very professionally, even though she sucked.

Best coffee place in Louisville Kentucky and we have a few great coffee places. Try the blended mocha, my favorite cold drink and Raising Hell is my favorite hot. Bring correct change because they no longer make change since covid. So pay with card or have plenty of ones on hand.

THEIR CHAI IS THE BEST CHAI IN LOUISVILLE. They have macadamia nut milk and really good vegan desserts!! (Like strawberry, carrot cake, and key lime cupcakes). Tons of gf stuff too. Very friendly staff and they set up a lil outdoor seating arrangement in the corner of the parking lot that is really nice!

Great coffee as always but as we are currently experiencing COVID-19, they had a great socially responsible system for placing and picking up orders. In addition they had added a spaced out makeshift patio seating arrangement with shade tents and everything! Highly recommended for your Sunday morning coffee fix, just make sure you bring a mask or you can purchase one there for $1.00.

The staff certainly needs training on how to produce delicious espresso. Ive been holding off writing this review for years, as many years ago they used to produce fine tasting espresso and the staff are still friendly. But no matter what I get it just tastes bitter and watery. It seems like they are over extracting the beans a lot, causing it to taste extremely bitter. Its certainly a shame as the location is wonderful, and the staff are friendly.

I met a friend here and it was a very nice and relaxing place to catch up with her. The atmosphere was very laid back and airy. It was not too loud or crowded. We found a perfect little corner table for the two of us to hang out. The coffee is excellent as well.

Coffee is pretty decent. pretty large parking lot but gets full quickly since its shared with urban outfitters.lots of seats for the size but youll need some headphones to block out all the chatter if you want to get some work done.

This is a go-to when Im in Louisville/on Bardstown. Im very lucky my boyfriend lives about a block away and we always love walking there. Cool chill interior, and its pretty much always busy. It fluctuates but never feels crowded or dead. Really good coffee and tea, and their quick food items are very good. They also have some vegan treats and you can get their coffee to the right of the counter. We just got some flavored coffee grounds and the aroma and taste are super satisfying.

Highly recommended!Also, I went early on a Saturday morning (6:30) and they get points for being awake. I hate going into coffee shops and having the people who work the early shift act asleep. I think they should be required to drink their coffee an hour before opening so they can give good service as soon as they open. The people who work at Highland obviously do this and it shows. Very friendly at all hours!

So, living out here on the other side of Jefferson County, we dont have any coffee shops around...We have a new Menards being built and a growing, financially strong area. I know its not the Highlands but it would be SO AWESOME to have a Highland Coffee near!?!

It’s a great atmosphere and great food. It has awesome pastries that complement all of their coffees. The coffee is local, delicious and quick. It’s reasonably priced for a coffee shop. It can be busy around 6, but other than that it’s a great place to get a quick bite.

I think they have the best tasting espresso of anywhere Ive been. Endless vegan options for food and drink. In all the time Ive been going there, Ive literally never had a complaint about the staff or my order. I love supporting this business!

Best coffee in town. The hair raiser is one of my favorites. Its nice and strong. Were very fortunate to have so many places to choose from in this area. But Highland Coffee is definitely my favorite. When I walk to get a cup, I pass three coffee shops and too many restaurants to count.

Stopped by on a bustling Sunday morning while driving through Louisville. Both the espresso and brewed coffee I had were top of the line. Would definitely come back if I was in the area.

Tip: you need to go into the parking lot to find this place. They have good coffee and tea. The food is very nice, nutritious and delicious. Almost everything was vegan. Its sort of loud. Their seating is comfortable. There are places to study or do work with adequate lighting. Theres a nice covered outside seating area with a canvas wall blocking the wind.

I would not consider myself an environmental minded person at all times but I love that this place has noodle straws. I have been going here for many years unfortunately not as often as I would like but they are always friendly and helpful. Not to mention the coffee and drinks are wonderful. I will be back.

I absolutely love this place! Its my morning stop on the regular. Everything is delicious (though Im especially partial to their everything bagels and wide selection of house coffees), the staff are all amazing, and they are all about eco friendly materials. Not to mention the atmosphere. Very relaxed and friendly, and there is always great conversation to be had here. Definitely worth the money and time to check out.

I want to give this place five stars and it deserves it but two odd management choices prevent that. The place is comfortable, the staff is friendly, their menu and offerings are tremendous quality. Sounds perfect right? The problems: the menu doesnt actually have any prices - my wife ordered a smoothie for her and my son and the two were a dollar difference when quoted to her but the staff member couldnt explain why - a menu with prices helps this. Also they have a nice outdoor patio which we wanted to enjoy but it was filled with smokers. When questioned if they were supposed to be smoking out there, the staff member said it was allowed except for the two tables outside the door. This is in violation of Metro Louisvilles Smoke Free Ordinance, which allows smoking outdoors but no less than fifteen feet from any doors and windows. I didnt have my tape measure handy but basically, with their setup you get a mouthful of second hand smoke just walking in the door. In short, I wont be going back while these two policies are in place. I dont dislike smokers by the way, several friends are, but we respect each others boundaries. I also like surprises just not when it comes to menu prices.

They make great coffees and teas, but the food is lacking. The vibe is fun but chill. A lot of people have their laptops out and work, but also, they meet with friends and talk loudly. Decorations are eclectic and colorful.

Highland Coffee Company is a fine place for a cup of coffee and conversation. The staff provides good service, and the menu provides variety.

Were from Arkansas and visit Louisville two or three times a year. We always make a point to stop by Highland. The coffee is wonderful. The staff always friendly and I enjoy the atmosphere of the place. I highly recommend if youre in town!!

The fact is, I’ve had their coffee beans ground, to take home as one of my only two little extravagances, though their prices aren’t extravagant at all, I’m on disability, so I must budget!😃However tasty the coffee beans are, their👍Cappuccino, lattes, cold&hot drinks of every type, are made with pride, professionalism, and extremely talented care, by a staff of friendly, more than capable Baristas! Oh, and there is a great notice board for our community, a free little library box, near full of interesting books, some truly skilled local artists have their works on display for all to enjoy, some aficionados to purchase. Compassionately bringing many smiles, 🐷🐸🐶 Pets are always welcome on the spacious patio where they get special treats, our fuzzy babies are a big part of Highland Coffee🐕‍🦺, who raise funds and donations for animal relief&care!... and now, drumroll please! Loved it. A local place with a great atmosphere. Its on Bardstown road and actually has parking! I went there to meet a friend during the weekday and it wasnt crowded - it would be a great place for a small group to meet up. The service is excellent and so was the coffee. Totally on my regular place to hit list.

Can never go wrong with ANYTHING from this amazing coffee shop. I have been a fan if this local joint since 2010. Once you go and try something, youll understand why. Bonus is that they always have local artists displaying work around the store, if you are interested in buying or just admiring.

Large selection of teas for those who aren’t coffee fans. Flavored whipped creams...blackberry! marshmallow!...make even a simple shot of espresso a treat, especially since it’s a little bitter for my taste. And their mixed berry muffins are one of my favorite treats in the city.
