There’s plenty of seating and lots of room at the Quills on Baxter. There are a few tables out front and a few more alongside the building. The staff have always been friendly and responsive. Maybe skip the pastries ;-) (just because things around her tend to go soft after a while) but besides that the place is stellar!
Delicious coffee and chai latte! Wonderful place to relax with space between tables. See photos and read about our experience at paelllanpie.com or @paellanpie.
I tried there espresso old fashioned which consists of a shot of espresso with a brown sugar simple syrup and orange bitters over ice.I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty this coffee drink was and recommend it.Thanks to the barista for suggesting this drink.
The Chai here is amazing and the cashier was really nice.
Our favorite place to go in Louisville. Beautiful cafe, and the coffee is phenomenal.
I ordered a single origin pour over along with my bag of coffee. The atmosphere was industrial, yet cozy and had a cool vibe. There were armchairs, tables, and bench seating. Seemed like a really spacious coffee house. The coffee was really good and was roasted well-- not too light and not too dark either. They have single-stall public bathrooms which are well-maintained.
Amazing Coffee!!! 😄 Made a stop at a quills every day of our vacation. The honey lavender was delicious. The horchata and iced coffee was also really good.
The SWEETEST cashiers! Super kind and always makes my day
This is one of my favorite study spots. The baristas are always friendly and welcoming. I have yet to be disappointed by the drinks and pastries. My only complaint is that this location tends to run out of seating quickly, so you may have to arrive early to secure a spot.
I come here all of the time. The coffee is local and tastes amazing. It comes out quick and hot. The foam art is fun and cute. I love coming here to read a book and eat some food and have some chill down time. The staff is always nice and the pastries are delicious. It’s a good experience and it’s all well priced. I would highly recommend for some time to read and study.
Such delicious and unique espresso drinks. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, lovely plants.
Quality coffee. I love the seasonal lattes and coffee sodas as well. Excellent flavors. It’s also just a very chic space.
Easy to order. Good speciality drinks. Solid cold brew. Loved the house made caramel burbon house syrup.
Was really excited to try this place finally and it totally didnt disappoint 💕 really great brew and teas
The sweet tea was very sour.
Best iced latte I’ve ever had!
They have great espresso and a very friendly staff
Coolest store! Great coffee and kind baristas. I could sit in there all day! A true gem that we have found.
Always great coffee and an easy and detailed online ordering checkout. Cheery employees and great atmosphere. Although like most coffee shops now, customers are set up on their mobile offices so lots of people plugged into laptops and headphones.
I forgot how enjoyable the aroma of a coffee shop is until I walked into this place. This place has great product and great service. What more can you ask for?
Good place to sit, sip coffee an.. study
This is the go to cup for coffee in the Louisville area. The beans are fresh, roasted locally and served in a correct manner. The baristas are what you would consider, professionals.Easy place to sit and do things alone or socially. If you care what your coffee taste like with a fair market price, this is where you go.
Great experience. Tasty hot chocolate and analog, suggested by 2 nice humans. Good selection, reasonably priced, with the ubiquitous iCreditCardTablet avail. Spacious but cozy and comfortably quiet Good place for conversations. The best location. ⅞ officially, 11/10 would bean again
We came to this super cute coffee shop on the day where they were introducing their new seasonal drinks. One that interested me was the peach lavender latte. I am very experimental but I was worried when the barista said it tasted like fruit loops. I decided to trust them and order it anyways. So happy with my decision, it was fruity without being sweet. The latte was so creamy, props to the people behind the drink. I will definitely come back.
Great coffee, great people, and we love stopping by the side sitting area with the dog in the morning to fuel up for his walks.
Nice decent place. It was my first visit this coffee shop. The coffee was really good. I was just there for quick pick up for black coffee. I would like to go back again to try their other type of coffee.
Great coffee, really awesome staff, and just the perfect place to chat or study!
I dont think Ive ever had a bad cup of coffee from quills for real
Hands down the best coffee you will find in Louisville. Ive searched far and wide and this is the place to get your cup or bag of greatness if you happen to be a true coffee aficionado
Quills is one of my top 3 coffee shops in the city. Award-winning coffee for a reason. And the tea lattes are great, too.
Love this location and love their coffee. They are super nice, and their summer coffee mocktails are actually really good. I wish they would get a tap system going for those days that youre working for like 4 hours there and need more than one drink to carry you over.
Super chill atmosphere and staff. Lots of alternative milk options!
Fine coffee. My red-eye was perfect. I like how people hangout and read and study.
Very nice! The shop was great in layout and decor. They had some pastries for sale (choc chip cookie was good) & offered the typical range of espresso drinks, slow pours, etc. the downfall, per say, for me was the latte itself. It was decent, but mine had minimal art and quite a bit of foam on top. Wanting art in my coffee may seem pretentious, but good art is a sign of perfect consistency! Instead, my first 10 sips or so were straight foam, which may be good for cappuccino but not latte :/ I would definitely return to give them another try. Love the name & the space! y
Love this Quill’s! There’s indoor and outdoor seating in a hip atmosphere. The people working there are always nice and helpful. I love to get the Alchemist with almond milk or the Miele when I want a dessert coffee. Any of their regular black coffees are also very good! Great local small batch roaster
The location is awesome, the building is cool, staff friendly and inviting, seating never seems to be enough. The coffee is amazing! I work in coffee equipment distribution and I can say without a doubt that Quills is my favourite in the city. The employees are trained in the art of pour over coffee as well as espresso drinks and. Preparing drip coffee. If you don’t sit down for a cup of Joe leave with a bag of beans. They roast their own coffee and it is absolute incredible. I roast my own every week but I still buy a bag of Quills beans every month.
Perfect iced latte
I appreciate good coffee, and after four years, Quills has yet to disappoint.I would recommend an iced mocha, but thats just my usual. You really cant go wrong with any of the drinks. The Blacksmith espresso is out of this world... These guys are coffee roasting wizards. The shop also has a really nice atmosphere. Very relaxing & nicely decorated. They have some really cool art on rotation. My one complaint is that it can get quite crowded during peak hours; but I guess thats what happens when your product is so stellar.Anyhow, check this place out if youre in the area. It is second to none!
Traveling from Nashville back to Michigan, a friend told me I had to stop at Quills in Louisville and Im glad I did! The friendly gentleman behind the counter recommended the espresso & tonic and it did not disappoint. Friendly and welcoming staff, quaint environment, and delicious drinks. I will definitely be returning next time Im in town. Thanks, Quills!
Really great place down town to go grab a cup of coffee and get some work done. The atmosphere was great, and the servers were very nice. The tea was very tasty and the wifi was quite fast. The prices were also quite reasonable. It was also not crowded when I went.
Great atmosphere! The lighting was nice. There were lots of outlets under the seats for charging laptops. Staff was really helpful and friendly when making suggestions on coffee!
Nice quite environment for studying or reading. Great iced coffee!
Quills is an adorable coffee shop with a hipster vibe. This location is a common study spot for students of the nearby University of Louisville, but there is almost always sufficient seating. Parking can be difficult, and is mostly metered, but if youre willing to walk about a block, its not too hard to find a place around the corner to leave your car. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Its an okay place to study (but few outlets). I didnt like the coffee much and its overpriced for how it tastes. Ive had the chai latte too and it can be obnoxiously overpowering depending on who makes it. YMMV.
Love Quills!! My husband and I really enjoy going there. Its one of our favorite places to go for a coffee date night. Coffee, pastries, service and atmosphere are really nice. We like to look out the window and people watch!!
Meh, overall. The coffee is not good and the pastries are bleh. The atmosphere is alright. The staff has never struck me as kind or nice or really even that helpful. In every way, there are better places in the area.
This was our first time at Quills, first time in KY too. We were headed home and wanted some coffee for the long drive. We found Quills on Google. The coffee was good enough, but the staff were not helpful. We tried asking questions about brands/flavours/etc, but were rushed along. There was no one in line behind us, so it wasnt like they were busy. Decor was fine, like any other new age coffee joint, seemed cozy, and like a nice place to just be. We would have appreciated better customer service.
Quills is our favorite coffee shop in Louisville, and weve been here for about 3 years and have tried out many shops! Their coffee/espresso has more of a fruity taste as compared to Starbucks (which is a bit too dark/burnt for me). Great study spot. Their maple latte is my go-to!
I accidentally left a one star review that was a total mistake… This place is amazing. I finally found a good coffee in Louisville!
This is my favorite coffee joint in town, with the best coffee Ive tasted in Louisville! Great place to meet up with friends or to study. Lots of space to sit, good atmosphere, and the best music selection. You wont be disappointed.
The bakery items are always so yummy. The baristas are very lively and helpful.
Not impressed with the ambiance or the coffee. Did not appear to be a good selection of treats to enjoy with our coffee and as previously mentioned the Cafe Mocha I ordered was not tasty. Will not be returning.
Highly recommended. The best coffee, costumers and environment. Also I loved the idea of drowning.
I cant really say enough good things about Quills. They make excellent coffee, by baristas who know the proper methods and techniques to get the best out of the beans. I also buy their bagged coffee regularly, and Ive never had any problems with the roast. My one complaint would be that the place is usually pretty crowded, more than it used to be anyway, so having a relaxing sit down with a cup isnt as easy anymore.
If youre looking for great coffee, Quills is the place to go! There is a great atmosphere, and they are always ready to serve you. The only thing to watch for is the seating. It tends to fill up fast and stay full.
Cozy spot with good offerings. Seating is tough to find, and some folks seem to be a bit inconsiderate with sprawling out over a 6-person table by themselves. Slick, clean environment with a warmth that the wooden tables and bench seating provides. We lucked out with parking right in front, but parking is clearly a bear here at this location. I tried the bourbon vanilla latte and it has a nice, subtle flavor. Not a bad stop on our travels!
I know the coffee scene well, and this place knows what it’s doing. If you’re not familiar with craft coffee, this place is educational and has no problem pointing you in the right direction. If you’ve been around the coffee scene forever, and are looking for cream of the crop, you’ll find what your looking for. This place has something for everyone. My pour over was excellent and had great presentation (I had a Ugandan coffee) and my girlfriend’s almond milk latte was delicious and the milk wasnt burnt! (Trust me when I say almond milk lattes are really good when they aren’t burnt)The baristas took care in their work and treated me really well (I went to the highlands location). They were welcoming and helpful and not seemingly uptight or disinterested, which I experience at a lot of upscale craft coffee shops. This place is an easy 5 stars, please try it!
Perfect cappuccinos! And outdoor seating if you come with a dog.
The atmosphere is a love. the matcha. so good.the chai latte. delicious.
I visited Quills on 8/23 and I am still dumbfounded by the rude young man working behind the counter who seemed to think a lack of eye contact and a casual hey dude was an acceptable way to greet every customer that rolled through the door. As a woman at least 30 years his senior, I found it to be incredibly disrespectful. It was somewhat balanced out, however, by the woman working alongside him who helped me pick out a bag of coffee when she noticed me browsing and was was nothing but kind, accommodating, and professional. Dude could certainly learn a thing or two from his coworker. Regardless, my coffee was delicious and the space was inviting. Wouldve been 5 stars if the entire staff were professional
Good cup of joe. Solid quality. In another league compared with Starbucks.
Great coffee expertly and delicious crafted. Really good donuts. Great space to study and chill.
Quills is easily the best coffee house experience Ive ever had. It has great espresso based drinks and a wonderful ambience that makes it perfect for hangouts, working, or even first dates. The customer service is excellent and the baristas obviously have a wealth a knowledge that make them wonderful for consultation about how to do home brewing better.
I love this coffee-shop...but lament that nowadays coffee-shops are more like hip, dimly lit offices. It can be a little off-putting to constantly get side stares when catching up with a friend from one of the many people hunkered down at what must be their primary employment, sidejob, or coursework.
The mocha was fantastic! Super relaxed atmosphere and perfect for a cold and rainy day. The staff was also very friendly!
The epicenter of Louisville coffee culture. The only place in North America Ive found where they can make a proper flat white. Lovely people to boot.
Coffee is amazing. I had a Honey Latte with Cayenne pepper 🌶 Absolutely delicious! My favorite combination 😬
Had a great experience the staff was very helpful The coffee was great it had a beautiful design which I enjoyed all and all I would recommend it’s a really nice please
Cozy atmosphere with a good selection of coffee and tea, and outdoor seating!
I have been fortunate enough to have visited more than 20 countries and I drink coffee everywhere I go. I have never found a better cup of coffee than what they serve at Quills. I grind the Inkwell beans at home for my aero press and it never lets me down. What a gem of a roastery and it’s right here in Louisville!
Id been wanting to check this place out and was not disappointed! Chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and the mocha I ordered was out of this world!
Victorian bearded, progressive, counter- culture types is all I saw one evening. Poetry and political rants might fit well.Once you get past all that the youll see the decor simple yet elegant, service unmatched and coffee is stellar.Be prepared to rollup your britches and showoff your tat.
Super friendly folks working here, made me an awesome Americano, and they played Frank Ocean. Easy 5 stars.
Great coffee specials. I had the alchemist, which is like a spicy mocha. Tables are great for working.
Very good coffee and a perfect place to bring a laptop and work. Not a good place to sit and chat, its too quiet for a comfortable conversation.
Absolutely love the staff at Cardinal Town shop. The lift my Moid and provide delicious coffee for my pheasant mug on the daily. Well crafted roast and kind folks.
One of the best coffee shops in Louisville. The espresso is top notch and their signature drink, the Veloce, is absolutely fantastic. I love the atmosphere to sit and talk with friends or hunker down and study for school. Highly recommended.
Delicious cortado. Very cordial staff! We spoke with the barista for a good bit, he was intelligible & driven. The coffee reflects that. The atmosphere is antique, with a revived feel. It was an all around delightful experience. Looking forward to coming back here!
