The staff at this firing range were very efficient and knowledgeable. Friendly but no nonsense, exactly what kind of people you want working at a firing range. They have a wide variety of weapons for sale or rent and the armory and range are both kept clean. A friend of mine had never fired a gun before and they were very professional with suggestions.
Two inexperienced shooters could not have been more welcomed by the staff at this range. We felt safe, coached, and encouraged the whole time, especially by Range Master Patrick. I doubt we would have had a good time without the staffs energy and enthusiasm! Highly recommend if you’re a beginner like us.
Carlos and the all the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. This was my first time at a gun range and the entire staff was truly amazing.I recommend this place hands down. And ask about Biscuit !!!!
CCDW Class was absolutely amazing! Jim is an awesome instructor and VERY VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE! The rest of the staff were also very helpful and willing to chat it up about anything guns! Sharing the smarts and love!As a US Navy Vet I really appreciate an establishment like this, will definitely be returning for more classes, and training.
The people are great. I have been here a few times over the years when it was owned by others. I like how it is setup now. The staff are helpful and are willing to teach instead of just scold you for a mistake. I have overheard them speak to a few people and they are very nice.
Excellent place to break in a gun and fix sights.
I never shot before. I was nervous. Officer Alex was patient, friendly, knowledgeable of course and supportive. I will be returning to continue to advance.
Great staff and service!Instructors are excellent
Love this place... if I could only get em to watch my son while I shoot, it would be heaven. Indoor range thats packed.
Had an easy FFL transfer recently, thank you for your professionalism.
My choice to go throw some rounds down range staff are knowledgable and helpfull.
Great place I enjoy using the range plus a friendly staff that greets when you enter and very noligable.
Extremely helpful informative knowledgeable friendly
Theyre super chill. 👍
Friendly place. Everyone is helpful there.
We had a great experience from the moment we entered until the time we left. We don’t own guns and gun ownership is prohibited in our country so often when we travel we visit an indoor gun range. The Armory is one of the best we’ve been to. Will definitely go back.
My first time there went fine. Staff is friendly and I felt comfortable and safe the way the lanes are set up. No complaints about the ventilation or lighting.Went back and grabbed a three month membership. Glad I did. Very convenient way to save time in and out.Nice little shop as well.
Girls evening out at the Armory,we had a wonderful time at the gun range. We found the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable about the weapons. Customer service was Awesome. We shall return...
Always a great experience
The employees are great, they are very friendly and polite. The prices are good and the ranges are clean.
I have been to a lot if gun and gun related stores in the Louisville area. The Louisville Armory is the only shop I actually trust. I never feel like they are predators for whatever advantage they can take from a customer. The entire staff is knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They appreciate me as a customer. I will not shoot anywhere else in town. Ive also been picking up some great gear at their store! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!Jeff Davis
I went there on a Sunday afternoon around 4:20 PM and asked for an hour of range time. They said that they couldnt give me an hour because they dont sell them this late. Its apparently because they clean the range at 5:30 which was still later than I wouldve been there. Why post business hours until 6 then not sell range time up to an hour before you close. Sounded to me like the staff there were trying to rush people out so they wouldnt have to do as much work. Very unprofessional especially when I was trying to give them more money.Another complaint is that they charge $1 per person to sign an electronic waiver thats good for a year. They give you a little business card that shows you signed one that you have to keep track of every time you come back or I assume you have to pay another $1 to sign another one. $1 isnt a lot of money but it seems like a very anti-consumer practice and like they are trying to nickle and dime their customers. The range itself is sub par compared to other ones Ive been in with limited options on setting the range. Its also very hot and humid. I was sweating and my eye pro was fogging up in an indoor range.Overall I do not recommend this range.
Great selection and tons of fun at this professional and good looking range!
Good range for pretty much everyone. Clean and range officer seemed to be paying attention which is always a plus.
This is NOT a negative review for the assumed reasons, it is because of the SAFETY of the range. Here is how my experience was as an somewhat experienced shooter and a first time shooter at the Louisville Armory. I was treated kindly by the front desk staff, I couldnt praise the gentleman enough for his customer service and attitude with customers. After I was finished shooting he even gave me a tour of the facilities that most people do not see, facilities such as room clearing practice areas and martial art studios for private lessons. There was the good, now here is the BAD.After I finished shooting I went out to the area directly behind the range, near the range officer. He was extremely nice and professional, he was looking at the monitors of the range, but he was ALSO watching the Masters Tournament. Im not saying he wasnt watching the shooters, I am saying if I am at a gun range its because I care about having a safe shooting facility that I will not have to worry about getting shot in the back on accident by someone that doesnt know what theyre doing. If the range officer was not an issue I would have given this range a 3-3.5 score. This is assuming the range officer was 100% focused on the range, and the service was just as amazing as it was today. The bad aspect of this range is the ventilation which is not awful but far from acceptable in my opinion. I am not sure if I will be a returning customer, the location is very centralized but the safety aspect of the range does concern me.
Louisville Armory is a well organized, safe, adequately equipped, and family friendly facility. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. My family and I felt welcome the minute we walked in the door. Bobby was absolutely superb. He offered good advice to me as a seasoned shooter, helped my wife shoot better, and made my children much more comfortable with weapon manipulation. Some people complain about the range lighting, which is dim in some places and bright in others. I have no issues with the lighting as I train to shoot in self defense and if I ever have to do so, the lighting probably wont be good then either.I judge a shooting range on safety, facilities, the professionalism of the staff, classes offered there, and how comfortable my family is there. Louisville Armorys staff delivers superior service, while the facilities are adequate. Great place to shoot and learn.
Excellent shooting range. Very knowledgeable staff, Friendly and helpful. Best priced rates and membership fees in the Louisville area. They also offer a wide range of training classes.Their Gunsmith does first class work and seems to be very honest. This is my first choice in ranges. Give them a try!
The staff here makes it easy for a first time or newbie shooter. The front counter always has the nicest - and easiest to work with people.Weather inside of range was nice today - I see an improvement perhaps?*one of* the only place I go to bang bang pow pow.
What can I say, I cannot wait to come back the second I leave. The staff goes above and beyond to help me out, they are family friendly and its just a wonderful place to shoot and learn. Bobby G. is absolutely invaluable to me! He took me in and taught me so much in so little time, instilling more passion and knowledge. Could never thank him enough. For an indoor range it may not be the creme of the crop but its the only one I would want to be. Open range was fancy but no one helped out in the slightest. It just felt cold. Here at TG&G it was a warm environment so to speak. Everyone I have met there goes out of their way. The lanes were simple and efficient. I love the fact that you can rent guns to try as well.
I have been going to this location for years since obtaining my concealed carry through a class back in 2005. This place has been through lots of changes over the years. Some of which I didnt care for in the past. As of current this place is absolutely awesome, it has now become my GO TO range again. I waited before posting this review, time and time again shooting here has been a pleasant experience. The staff are nice, its organized and the previous lighting issue has been addressed. If you havent been here in years I highly suggest you give these guys another shot.
Very Friendly with great rates. My first time at a Gun Range it was clean and the guys working there made me feel welcome, unlike Knob Creek where you can wait up to 30 min. To fire your weapon. The wife liked the different target to choose from. Highly recommended.
Great place to shoot and the staff is great
Money making scam: contrary to what their website claims, they will not rent out 60 minutes. Instead, they tell you they are busy and will only do 30 minute slots - but you can pay again in 30 minutes for another 30 at full price - even though there ARE empty bays. A friend told me not to support this place and now I see why. I wont be going back. Take your business elsewhere.
Great place for handgun practice. Lanes are well light, ventilation adequately removes dirty ammo clouds, plenty of lanes to shoot. Staff and Range officers are great. Just dont rapid fire or they will ask you to slow down (as they should). Safe shooting experience.
Very informative and huge on safety. Huge stress releif
Good experience. half hour not bad plenty of room and no hassles. Go there once a month to keep up training no problems. Staff easy to deal with.
For a range, this place is pretty good. Dont be mistaken though-even though it is an indoor range, the last time I was there, the range was not heated or cooled. They only have vent fans which pull out the air, it does not heat or cool the range so if its cold, bundle up, and if its warm, prepare to sweat. If I remember correctly the range prices are charged by half hour, and if you run over by more than a couple minutes I would suspect theyd charge you as is their right, but usually if you are close and not making a habit of it, they may let it slide. All the folks behind the counter are typical gun guys--sometimes a little gruff, but very professional if not always very polite. Good place to put a few rounds out.
HOT HOT HOT, or COLD COLD COLD!! No climate control at this range, except in the front counter area. I go to an indoor range to avoid the outside elements, not bask in them. It’s difficult to focus on my accuracy when I am dripping sweat, or freezing to the bone within 15 minutes of target shooting. I’ve been there probably half a dozen times over the past year. Pretty sure I’m done with Louisville armory.
Took my 2 kids and wife. none of them had ever shot a gun before. the people that work there were very helpful and knowledgeable. the range was clean and bright. they treated my 12 year old great. they made sure he knew what to do, without talking down to him. we will be returning.
This place is awesome an they welcome us before we even made it in . They was very professional about there job an t as key it very seriously. Thank ya again for being so nice an will see ya again soon .
Friendly staff! First time here and it wont be my last. They could turn up the A/C a bit, as it does get hot in the gun lane room. Aside from that, its a clean, safe, establishment to practice your firearms!
Poorly lit. AND NO HEAT!!! This is 2016 heat and air is nice. Went there last week(5-5-16) they have put some lights up a built some block walls so other casing dont hit you. They have made lots of improvements to this place. If you have not been there lately you might want to try them again.
Ive never had issues with this place up until today.... I paid for 5 people to shot on 2 lanes and after being there for about 15 minutes we had to due to an injury... I was given 1 half hour range time that was only good for 1 person so I ask the guy why didnt everyone get one... he took that one back... Im pretty sure I wont br going back. I would have been ok with charging me for 1 of the lane
Used to shoot here a couple times a month, range is now brass only though. Guess they are trying to make a few extra cents from casings. Extremely disappointing when they put secondary income over customer satisfaction.Other than that, ranges are well lit with LEDs and adequately ventilated. Kind of cold in the range on cold days so wear a jacket.
Ive shot here several times but likely wont be back. Walked into a range with 4 open lanes and for some reason the front desk had assigned me a lane directly next to the other shooter. After picking the middle lane and shooting for 20 minutes they apparently assigned my lane to a new shooter. So now 3 lanes in a row instead of spacing folks out. The employee was quite rude with me when informing me that Im never allowed to make my own decisions on their rangeFinished my magazine and left, terrible experience.
Been there twice in the last week. Dealt with different people both times. I dont know why there would be any bad reviews for this range. I had a great experience both times I went.Keep up the good work!Jimmy
Great folks and nice facilities. Its cold in the winter so dress accordingly. They have several ranges and seem very careful. I have been recommending it to my friends without reservations.
I buy ammo in advance and bring my own firearms. Prices arent too bad. Good range in my eyes.
Took the conceal carry class and was very impressed with the instructors knowledge and attention to detail. He was careful, almost overly-cautious, but I appreciated that considering the setting. I learned a lot and have to say I was impressed with the extra training classes they offer. Good, down-to-earth guys, with good moral standing, is what you will find in this place.
The range is not bad... but the guys in the front are as rude as they come... if you have not shoot before apparently you cant use the premises, not good for first timers !!! I had a good experience because nobody ruins my day with just their attitude but if you are looking for helpful and nice people this is not the place. Finally prices are not bad !!!
Lobby looks great, but the lanes are dirty and dimly lit. You have to pay for targets, and you hang them yourself with binder clips. Its not a bad place, but there are better ranges.
Tim, the gunsmith, is a fantastic guy who really helped me out in a bind. Fixed the gun, threw in a couple rounds, good conversations, and advice for free. Totally cool folks, great facility. Ill go back any time I can!
Some of the staff was very overbearing twice I’ve been. Once w my 16 yr old son and once w a friend who is an army officer of over 20 yrs and we were treated like children. Wouldn’t ever go back and haven’t.
I went in with my 2 daughters not knowing what to expect. The guys really took the time to explain things to us and even made sure I was comfortable with my oldest daughter showing us how to shoot . The taller gentleman I didnt get his name came in to check on someone else and my daughter suggested Id be more comfortable with him showing me how to hold a gun and shoot,he was so nice and patient ! The guy who took the payment was really nice as well I will definitely be going back. I was told that they are understaffed but they are willing to help if you need it and if they had a person to spare which I totally get.My oldest has gone there before and my youngest cant wait to go back. We got a chance to speak to other guest and they say its a nice shooting range so we hope to see them again on our next visit.
Great service and pricing.
This place is nice in every way imaginable and the staff took the time to show us how to fire certain weapons at no charge and at no charge for using the firing range while we were given instructions and allowed to shoot. I really cant say enough nice things about this place.
If you go there and feel you need shooting expertise, ask for Bobby. This guy knows the ins and outs of getting your shot in place. Hes helped me several times. Hes a very practical guy with years of experience. Im not totally happy with the facilities as prices have gone up and the lanes definitely need better lighting Some of the target zip lines dont work right. It seems they had a larger selection of accessories and firearms for sale when they were TG&G. Honestly, they need to step up the game a bit or a bigger fish is gonna come along someday.
Too expensive. $14 for a half hour. Was $9/half hour up until recently (which I thought was still a bit high). They now charge you an extra $1 to register you in their new computer system-which takes them two secs, and you get a confirmation email. The cost is high, and quality is low.You can go to Open Range, which is MUCH nicer, for $13/half hour during lunch time.
Fair price, left me alone, friendly staff. I also might add I followed the rules and I will be going back. WAY LESS expensive than open range and much more convenient.
I loved it. There really professional and cool. They make sure everything is safe and fun. I would really recommend this range. Its loud but its supposed to be. Its a shooting range lol
Friendly employees, good price. Decimal levels little to high, even with ear protection. Some sound proofing would help
I have been here quite a few times and really enjoy it. Friendly yet professional staff and good prices with specials throughout the week.
This is a great place for a new shooter. I like to try out guns before I buy them. So I rented a 380 handgun. Their gun rental selection is not as expanive as Knob Creek Gun Range, but still not bad. Plus they have their selection listed on their website. The best part is the Armory lacks the level of intimation I feel when at Knob Creek. As a new shooter I like seeing a professional, and clean looking gun range that doesnt feel or run like a military boot camp. I highly recommend this place to anyone thats getting into shooting for the first time.
Used to be a great place to go shoot for a decent price. Ever since they did the remodel it is expensive and much more of a hassle. Miss the old crew that used to work there a few years ago.
Had a weapon I bought online shipped here and their service has been amazing. Really great staff and facilities!
Really enjoyed my trip to Louisville Armory! My one and only wish is a wider selection, if only to be able to go there more often.
Cool range with a nice staff. Good clean ranges and little to no wait for a lane.
Well lite and climate controlled. The staff are very respectful and experienced. My wife and I had a great time there and will be frequent customers.
A cool place to visit for beginners or experts. Obtained my CCDW License here and the class was great! Instructor Pagano made it fun, interactive and informative.Only drawback, you may have a wait if you get there a certain time of day to use the range.
This used to be a pretty good range. The new owners and staff are horrible. Inept employees with attitudes. Their prices used to be $10 per hour, and could could live with some lighting issues and dirt. Now their prices are $27 an hour and if they are going to charge that much I expect quality which they do not have.
Great rangeGreat daily specials1/2 price at lunch with a free targetFree rental on Friday
Best indoor range in town. The staff was very helpful and the new lanes are very nice. Get in and practice now!
Some of the staff is really inept, or just dont care. The ventilation had improved, and they are slowly building the lanes to be better. Its taken them over 6 months to do so. During the weekend the lanes gets really crowded after 1st to about 6pm.
Please dont go too soon unless you want to be schooled every two minutes. Got stopped every time I did something. Shooting, loading my gun, and even packing my stuff back in my bag. And, I have a C&C Permit. It was crazy. Maybe they wanted to kill my time so I would buy more. Can I have some of my money back. I left half of my time because of your very rude emplyee. Maybe even more because he schooled me every time I picked up my gun.
Really clean and well maintained range
Nice knowledgeable go take care of your business and go !
Loud, poorly lit, poorly ventilated...I could go on. The target carrier on the lane I was assigned didnt work. I was told to hit it to see if it would move forward. They are re-doing the range, but currently have a plastic sheet separating the range from the check in counter. Great for your ears. Range isnt heated in the winter or cooled in the summer. Shoot at open range, its worth the extra money.
I had a very pleasant experience at louisville armory today 2/9/19 it was my first time shooting there and it wont be my last the place is clean the range lanes are awesome and the staff is very friendly. You can shoot rifles up to 7.62x39 i wish they allowed 308 but if they dont is because is not considered safe to do it anyways for those powerfull rifles i suggest an outdoor range better but if you are shooting pistol calibers rimfire rifles AR 15 or AKs this place is great for that.
I recently purchased a new Springfield CD Mod 2 subcompact through Armory. Although they were sold out in store, they ordered the exact model I wanted and had it in the store 3 days later. The price, even after taxes, was cheaper than any I had seen on Gunbroker or similar. Service was fast and friendly during the whole process. If you are having trouble finding the gun you want, I would highly recommend calling or visiting them. Being able to rip open the package and try it out 5 seconds after purchase is also awesome. The range is top notch, especially with the addition of the indoor rifle range.
Excellent shooting experience, clean and well ventilated. Just wish the had a greater selection of accessories.
Great shooting range and friendly workers . They are very helpful.
Awesome customer service. It was my first time going to a gun range with a military friend of mine. They explained all the safety requirements, told us how cheap it was($10), and even helped select out some guns to fire.
Helpful friendly staff.
Dont go if your easily offended, counter guys are ok but be prepared to be yelled at if you accidentally breakone of their rules, very rude, and you feel like your walking on eggshells, a nice little polite reminder would have worked so much better, I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was shooting
Ken Pagano is an excellent instructor👍👍👍
Ive been going to this range since it was Rays Its gone down hill. The lobby is nice, but the actual shooting ranges are just plain dirty! It is poorly lit. I had a hard time seeing my night sights. The target hangers are a joke! #3 lane had a shot up piece of cardboard with one clip to hold the target in place. The center 6 lanes are STILL under construction. By the way, young shooters must be 12 years old now. Hard to explain to my 11 year old that he couldnt shoot there anymore till October.
One of thier clients was out front and dropped his pants and showed his ass to me. The place is just as terrible as its predecessors. I didnt know i was going to be sexually assaulted going in to shoot. That guy thought it was amazingly funny what he did. The guy i called wouldnt listen to me until i started cussing. Sorry about that sir. You have cameras look at the recordings.
Great place to duck in and out to get some range time on lunch.
Excellent staff. Friendly, Safe, Knowledgeable. Highly recommend a 1 on 1 private lesson. Ask about the details.
Dont listen to negative reviews, great indoor range. Any moron who wants to shoot 30/06 or .308 75 feet or less shouldnt be shooting anyway
Great staff very helpful, great shooting lanes.
The place was very friendly and clean. Nice place to shot.
Jim S. Great instructor great place to 🔫
One of the better places in town
Cool first time experience will be back
The TWO STARS(2) are only because they have very poor lighting on all the lanes. The people that work there are fantastic! though.
I went to this gun range sometime last week and the guys at the front desk are rude as hell...not only do they treat you badly if you dont know the rules but they also talk behind your back about it. I would have not believed it if I didnt hear it for myself!!!
My son and wife went to Louisville Armory on Saturday July 23, 2016, VERY BAD EXPERIENCE, 30 minute intervals and you must quit if someone else comes in, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?? I guess my money is no good after 30 minutes, BUT the largest problem is that we went on a 97 degree day, paid our money, THEY SAID NOTHING ABOUT RANGE NOT BEING AIR CONDITIONED, IT WAS AT LEAST 115 DEGEREES ON RANGE, we shot 15 rounds between the 3 of us and by that time we were soaking wet from sweat, 10 minuts and we paid 36 to shoot 15 rounds. LAST TIME THERE, I PROMISE!!! ROGER
