We came here after the August 2021 Texas Tech Graduations. My wife, who spent 7 years of undergraduate and graduate schooling in Lubbock, loved this place while here and recommended it today. I’ll preface this by saying I rarely, if ever, leave google reviews-you can check my profile to verify. I feel so strongly about my negative experience here that I was compelled to leave this review. There were roughly 5 people in the store when we arrived at 11:00AM on a Saturday morning, 3 of which already had their coffees and 2 others awaiting their small and modest order. Our group of 4 proceeded to wait 45(!) minutes for our drinks, politely asking about 3 times during that duration for updates on our order. The barista was incredibly impolite and didn’t even bother apologize to my wife, a common customer of this coffee shop, for the poor service. To me, and I could be wrong here, you go to a local coffee shop like this for the friendly relationships and the coffee. For a place like this to absolutely butcher this is unfathomable. I don’t care if the coffee bean is the most delicate bean in the world, it should never take 45 minutes to make 4 cups of coffee and then not apologize. I genuinely hope this is an isolated issue with the two men operating the shop today, but if not, this is absolutely unacceptable for a business looking to attract consumers.
I’m in love with this place. Quiet atmosphere, friendly staff. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices, and the blueberry scone is very delicious. Will be coming back often.
Parking lot has a lot of pot holes, simple menu, no air conditioning and he made our cold brew with sink water. Way better places for the same price. Not a good experience for me.
We had cappuccinos & avocado toast they were both phenomenal! The customer service is awesome and the ambiance is great! I enjoyed chatting with my son while we enjoyed our snacks. Great place!
Great place but way overpriced. I was highly disappointed they advertised being open till 3 but stopped serving anything actually worth getting well before then
Little cozy place. Has coffee from vaious parts of the World. I bought the Kotowa from the region of Boquete, Republic of Panama. Great aroma and delicious.
Really good coffee. Cant wait to try the scones!
Ive only had a few of the selections but the coffee and scones are great!
This place is an oasis in Lubbock! Cute environment, great staff, amazing coffee from Oak Cliff Roasters. Worth a detour if youre passing through town. They didnt have full food menu because pandemic. But they did have delicious baked goods and I highly recommend the scones. We had a peach scone that they warmed and it rocked our world. Thanks Yellow House!
Was sad to see them closed permanently
Coffee is over priced!! Ordered a latte, got a small half cup of liquid and the rest was foam! Better coffee elsewhere at a better price!
Fantastic service. Well priced. A calm and wonderful enviorment for a good morning.
Definitely one of the best places in the area. The service here is great. It has a nice atmosphere.
Nice little comfy place to sit & enjoy your favorite coffee and just relax!
This place is great! Its a bit smaller than most coffee shops in the area which makes it more quite and more appropriate to study in. My last visit there included my wife an I ordering two chai drinks. The barista mentioned after he had given us our drinks it took longer than expected and continued to give us both coupons for next time that included a free coffee and 1/2 off a menu item.
Good fresh coffee with a couple of donuts hit the spot
It was after a very wet night so the atmosphere was very damp, but still cozy and will be going back again. Latte was really good, also got a avocado toast with sausage, eggs and cheese half meal. Really good, nothing fancy but a treat. Very nice staff. Definitely going back!
Love the place. Best coffee, very tasty bakery, very tasty bread! Stylish, cute business. Wonderful place!!!
Yellow House is my favorite coffee shop in Lubbock! All of our local coffee shops have friendly staff and good service, but the staff at Yellow House goes above and beyond. Every time Ive been there Ive beem treated with a warmth and respect that is rare. The overall experience is more intimate than the other coffee shops in town. The atmosphere is cozy, and of course the coffee itself is excellent! Yellow House is a quintessential Lubbock haunt for locals and visitors alike.
WHAT AN AMAZING Coffee shop!!! The barista, William, was so welcoming and helped me pick out a drink I would love! It was my first time there but I am definitely going to become a regular customer! An experience I will always remember! Such great service, and really a gem of a place for all of Lubbock to enjoy!
Amazing coffee as always! Poor customer service. And it takes forever to get a drink when theyre NOT busy!! Miss the old crew! They did a better job! I go in every day!! Sometimes twice a day. Spending a lot of $$ to barely be noticed. The old crew was welcoming and very friendly! This crew is not friendly with me. Maybe its just me 🤷♀️
A wonderful local coffee shop with plenty of options on the menu. Everything Ive tried has been delicious and their presentation skills are always on point. The coffee is always at the right temperature and I love to come here with family and friends. My only complaint is the extra fee for almond milk. Almond milk costs the same if not less than regular milk and customers shouldnt be charged for choosing a healthier option. I would highly recommend this location and supporting local businesses!
While customer service isnt terrible, it isnt particularly good. Since reopening, I havent had to wait long for my coffee, but two of my friends have said they have had to wait over ten minutes for their drinks when there wasnt a rush at the coffee shop. Prices are also a little high. One can get a pour over at Gold Stripe for about the same price as a regular 16oz coffee here.
Wonderful coffee and assorted other beverages. Feeling adventurous? Try the lavender italian cream soda or the lavender chocolate milk! So delicious. Great study spot as well. Good central location too.
I was in town visiting family and I needed some good coffee. I found this place on Google and stopped in for a pour over. It was one of the best pour overs that Ive ever had from a coffee shop. Ill definitely be going back.
This was our 3rd day coming and the coffee is amazing! I love how they use different coffees each day . The staff are amazing! super friendly and very welcoming they take the time to know their customers.
The atmosphere is nice. I like the music choices, and LOVE the organic/healthy/local options. Reminds me of a coffee shop I would find in my hometown in Austin. Only downside is the coffee is pretty eh. I am a very loyal Gatsbys customer, but I decided to try and branch out to Yellow House. My latte was bland. Ill be sticking to Gatsbys. But props to the unique location and such.
Supurb cup of coffee! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We didnt realize that they were closed for their Christmas party but they invited us in anyway, made our coffee and made us feel welcome and appreciated. Great place, great people.
A nice small venue.quiet. my coffee and toast was good.
VERY HIPSTER, VERY PRIVILEGED POEPLE AMBIENCE. BUT FOR THE MOST PART ACTUALLY DECENT. TINY BUT GOOD
Love everything about this place. The coffee, the baristas, the service, the environment. I love the Saturday morning breakfast menu, its worth a trip across town! I love how they do get to know your name so you feel like family! Keep up the great work!!
Very homey, cozy, they seem to live by the motto that a stranger is just a friend youve never met! They make you feel like theyve known you for years!!! Loved it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Great knowledgeable service. Amazing open face toast “sandwich” - the Wagner special is legit! Great, great cappuccino! Plenty of seats in this little unique coffee shop.
Bunch of really well-made, traditional, coffee and espresso drinks. Really great quality tea. Dont go here for a vanilla bean frappacino. Go here if you like coffee.
Excellent coffee and really yummy scones
Great place that has great coffee! I know J&B is the place to be but this place has better coffee and more seating. Parking is like J&B, hard to find because there is not much.
When my son visited me, hed already researched coffee shops. He chose Yellow House Coffee and we went several times while he was here. It was fun to try some place I hadnt been. Yellow House was cozy, the baristas were friendly, and the coffee was good.
The coffee here is amazing! I studied in Italy for about a month and came to appreciate their pastry and coffee-based breakfast. As much as I wanted to reminisce over my month in Italy, this restaurant has its west Texas charm. However, if Rome had a southern themed coffeehouse, it would look a lot like Yellow House. The folk/folk country glistened the atmosphere. I forgot to ask where they get their music from. I can appreciate pop country, but top 40 country isn’t my go-to music. What they were playing is why I love the fiddle with a little slide guitar that gave pre 90’s country music the impact that it did. I should have used my phone to figure out what they were playing but I was overcome with their coffee and the scone I bought from them. The lighting was perfect complement to the music. Even under this bright Lubbock sky around noon, the lighting still felt like I was drinking coffee during sunrise or sunset. For a moment, I forgot I lived in Lubbock, and Yellow House made me want to look out for other possible spots that would tempt me to stay. Right now, it’s only the cost of living and the lack of traffic that lures me to this town. There is no need to muck up your coffee Yellow House brews with any sweeteners. I did out of habit because I drink a lot of coffee at Texas Tech. I initially waited for the coffee to cool down, another habit, only to realize that they brew their coffee at the right temperature for instant gratification. I forgot what I ordered. It was a seasonal coffee that was recommended by the cashier. Next time I’m going to drink my coffee black and without sugar. Their coffee doesn’t need anything added. To bring me back to Rome, I also ordered a scone. They had a limited selection of pastries. Still, the scone I ordered was heavy enough to complement the coffee while light enough to be enjoyed. It was sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, but healthy enough to justify a pastry. The scone was very rustic. Italians will eat cake smothered with Nutella with their breakfast. A little too sweet for me, but Yellow House’s scone was perfect for my American sensibilities. Its outside was slightly crunchy while the inside was warm and soft. Had I been a wealthier man than I am now, I would have ordered another scone.Overall, I loved it here. It’s easy to see why they have nearly 5 stars after 200+ votes. I really hope there are more places like this because it’s hard to be single and 30 in Lubbock. The women here are either too young and obsessed with complying with the sorority standard, or they are married with kids and adhere to many Republican principles. The women here I thought were cute and hopefully close to my age. The patrons were your 30-year-old southern hipster types, which comforted me that there might be more hiding elsewhere in this town. I feel a little at home and among similar people (people with piercings, tattoos, and have a love for good music) like me in this coffeehouse. I only write reviews for places I really love or hate, so hopefully this is just another review of many great ones of this place that lures more people to keep establishments of this kind to thrive while also inspiring more to open up shops in this area and in this town that fuels a hipster market to thrive in Lubbock. Hopefully then, I might think twice about staying in this town.
Best coffee in Lubbock! The Baristas are amazing in the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. I love relaxing for a few minutes with a cup of espresso or tea and just enjoying the ambiance.
A gem in Lubbock. Cozy, surprisingly big coffee shop. Superior quality coffee. Highly recommended to check them out.
Looked very much a local hangout. Great coffee, good location, and a very pleasant vibe. Sort of place you like to discover as a tourist.
Tanner was amazing and made my sons coffee experience great. He made a blue steamer especially for him. We love this place.
I love Yellowhouse! Their cream sodas are amazing (try the apple cider cream soda...its yummy!) They have a great atmosphere and super knowledgeable and friendly staff. My boyfriend and I went on our very first date here, and we just got married a couple months ago! Im not saying Yellowhouse matched us up, but Im not saying they DIDNT either. :))) Highly recommend!
Im not a big coffee drinker but Yellow House Coffee was wonderful! Super cute and hipster like. Will definitely be visiting again.
Between this place and Tova, two of the best coffee shops in town.
Best coffee in Lubbock. Ive been to Gatsbys, sugar browns, J&Bs, and Gold Stripe - Yellow House is the best in every aspect. Knowledgeable and welcoming baristas, full taste profile in coffee, and a quiet, warm atmosphere. Youre expectations will be exceeded without a doubt.
Really good coffee. The only true coffee house I could find In Lubbock. The Baristas were also very nice and helpful.
Their coffee is the best! Get a Chemex and a banana cinnamon muffin for a phenomenal breakfast or snack. Its a small shop, but that forces you to use your space and time wisely while there.
One time I went in and a handsome Polish boy took my order. I was so flustered by his attractiveness that I ordered, paid, but forgot to take my coffee. 10/10
Super-friendly staff with exceptional coffee. They use several different methods of brewing their beans which are always fresh (next time youre there, ask them when their beans were roasted, its usually within a week). Also, all of their beans are bought from farms all over the world using fair trade practices. 5 stars!
This is the best coffee house in Lubbock. Lattes are incomparable and the guys are so nice! They make you feel at home.I would go to Lubbock just to visit Yellow House ❤️
Great food, great prices and really nice staff
Slowly becoming our new favorite. Staff friendly with cozy atmosphere.
Excellent coffee! Very warm and friendly staff. Warm and comfortable space. I love it!
Amazing coffee and amazing baristas! Literally one of my favorite places in Lubbock!
Friendly staff, and delicious coffee. The coffee is reasonably priced and the place is usually pretty quiet. They often have musicians perform here on the weekends. A must visit for a Lubbock local or for anyone passing by.
Super hip environment with fabulous coffee and scones!
Awesome coffee.. really cool place. The mug club is great. Buy a Yellowhouse mug, which are awesome, and get a 10% discount on a all purchases.
In Lubbock for a few days and needed a place to get some work done.Great place to get some work done (quite enough to actually join in on a few conference calls) in a nice atmosphere. Awesome coffee too.
Was driving around looking for a coffeeshop and decided Id give this place a shot since Im into local coffeeshops. This place is definitely a lot more friendlier than J&Bs and not as complicated to find a seat. Coffee was really good and the service was great.
Worth getting up here for the Saturday breakfast. Great coffee and friendly staff. They always have a great variety of beans to choose from, and the baristas are awesome. Have yet to have a drink I didnt enjoy, from a pour over to french press or cortado, theyre really nailing it every time.Decent selection of baked goods to choose from, or theyve now got a breakfast menu with bacon and eggs, and the like. It can get crowded Saturday mornings, but if you go out back to the patio its usually easy to find some peace and quiet there for a bit of reading.
For a city like Lubbok this place is amazing. But compared to other cities coffee shops it will be less than expected
Great people. Good coffee. Parking is tough.
One of the best coffee shop atmospheres in Lubbock, and awesome coffee, homemade toast. 5 stars
Love this place, great service and the do make a great latte and lemonade. I do wish they put less milk in their cortados, but other than that love this place.
Excellent coffee in Lubbock. Every time we visit Lubbock we come at least once to get a coffee here. The location is great, close to campus. The building is cute and well decorated. There is a good amount of seating. The baristas are nice. And most importantly the coffee is awesome. We have been getting americanos and they are delicious. Very smooth and tasty. My only complaint is that they dont have decaf espresso. I like to get 1/2 caf americanos sometimes and that isnt an option
Yellow House Coffee is my favorite shop in town! The atmosphere is so cozy and you always feel valued when you go in. If youre not a fan of coffee, they have great teas and lemonades. Be sure to try out the orange-lemonade this summer!
Hipster, college vibe. Cute place! The coffee was just ok, though.
Great place to hangout and have a drink!
Love this place! All the baristas are very friendly and sweet!! One of my favorite coffee shops in Lubbock.
This is the absolute best place for avid coffee drinkers to go. I love their selection of Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters. I went to college in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas and you find me there weekly. Finding this place when moving here was like a sign from God. The baristas are all very nice and enthusiastic about their work. If you are in college or just need a place to hop on some free wifi while drinking a nice cup of Joe, this is your place. Also after your 10th drink you get one free, which for me is a monthly thing.
Excellent espresso drinks. They obviously care about quality. Only love for this place.
The taste of the coffee is quiet amazing but that is not the best part about this shop. When you walk in, the staff makes it a point to ask your name and get to know you. Service is a lost art. They found it.
Fantastic coffee, great ambiance and super friendly staff! Very hip & trendy place!
Definitely a gem in this town. Try their homemade vanilla
The coffee was amazing, and the staff was extremely polite and helpful. The blueberry muffin was delicious as was my breakfast toast.
Staff was great atmosphere was great... parking bad, coffee was worth it though.
Amazing staff, best coffee in town! I had an Autumn Spice Latte today that was fantastic.
Overall a great experience! The Guatemalan coffee was excellent, and the latte art is a must see! P.s. the coffee was as great as the service !
Coffee is just ok. Staff is excellent
This takes entirely too long to get coffee. Delicious but this is just ridiculous.
Took my mom and little sister here and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be back!
Nice environment, nice people and great drinks and eats entails my experience at this sweet coffee shop.
Best chai lattes ever. Super friendly staff. Cozy. Free WiFi (just ask for the password). Parking isnt great, but the trouble is worth it.
The best coffee in Lubbock by far. And surprisingly for a shop this small with coffee this good, very fair prices.
Cant say the place was bad. Just nothing for us non coffee drinkers.
Excellent coffee. Fast and free WiFi. Busy.
Amazing little coffee shop! The best in Lubbock
