The store is well stocked and for the most part easy to find what your looking for. The employees in the hunting and fishing department are very helpful..Unfortunately it’s the only game in town for most of your outdoor needs and sometimes it shows. It seems hard to get checked out a lot of the time. Myself and three other customers had to stand in line at the ONLY checkout open while three employees stood around watching, not the first time it’s happened. But as I said “it’s the only game in town”…

I found everything I wanted. Would of been nicer if they had some shopping carts available inside the store since I was buying bulky items. . Staff was nice.

Staff was super nice. We were looking for the Crocs tennis shoes and we asked an employee and she took us right to them. At the register we had a new employee and it was a little ruff but once she figured everything out things went great.

I do not recommend using the curbside pick up unless you have 2 hours to kill.

Well we are new to area wanted to buy a kayak but didn’t know we were doing it today~ but price in store was $150 cheaper than online of $1429.sooo decided to buy today $1299.00 but guy had such a cocky attitude 😳 we were in my car wanted to pay for it drive an hour back over in truck to p/u but guy was soooo rude!!! Said we couldn’t and “That’s just the way it is” WELL forget getting our business!!!

Spent over an hour using their website trying to order 2 LSU chairs and LSU popup canopy. Had to change stores to get all items. Kept changing from from pick up tomorrow to some items out of stock, to no items availble, then finally said all 3 items pickup tomorrow. Placed order, This morning cant fill my order!Whatever they can fill they can keep.

No accomodations for handicapped shopping I would have shopped if they offered electric cart for handicapped. The store is to big to walk across if you have problems walking. Took my business across the street to Walmart

Got a Caps Home Gym and was missing 2 vital parts. After multiple attempts at trying to reach someone from Caps, I called the Lufkin Academy Sports & Outdoors. Phill got in touch with manager Billy and they told me to come by and show them the missing parts on the store display. When I arrived a couple of days later, Reese helped me get the parts I needed so I could finish putting it all together. Way to stand by your customers and ensure we get what we paid for. Thanks!

They actually had a half decent selection of ammo today. Probably wont last long though.

Customer service is horrible. Your employee Ayde is unprofessional, inattentive, and failed to give proper instructions. The store had so many open registers and employees walking around. My first issue was when I arrived and no carts. I asked the lady greeting people as they entered and all she had to say was, well I called for someone.

Got a good deal on some shoes and there no lack of help. Good friendly non rushed help.

More like 5 stars. Great selection Great staff. Ill will be back!

Good location...fair amount of inventory...but the customer service is something that needs attention. Things can get busy, I know, but when Im at the sunglass counter, for 10 minutes, looking to purchase a pair of Ray-Bans...and I see 3 guys standing in a group joking around make eye contact with me, AND STILL not ask if I needed assistance... Theres a breakdown in communication, somewhere within the store. Aside from that, its solid.

A bit expensive on most things, but its a decent place

Purely based on customer service. Making customers wait outside so that people buying ammo get a better shake. I was there to return a shirt, I dont care about their ammo and I shouldnt be punished for their ill-advised practices. I will no longer be a returning customer.

Looking for gun purchase. Out of item, but able to order & ship to store, no problem. Guys knew their stock and were very informative

Two stars. They had signage up about requirements for face coverings which meant little to the patrons and staff some who wore scarfs, ninja scarfs and chin diapers. The first person who waited on us was almost excited, but not quite. And the second (in another department) tried to be knowledgable, but couldnt quite do it.

Didnt get much help in the shoe department individual in this area just Didnt put forth the effort to help

They have a great selection of items, but unfortunately for me they happened to be out of both items I needed. That just an unfortunate circumstance. It was just after Christmas. I totally understand.

Had a good experience at academy found what I wanted had to check you some prices though to see if the one that I got was the one I wanted friendly people helpful people clean store enjoy working there but I did not get any cartridges for my pistols they were all out did you get my 22s good store to go to prices a little higher than others but its well worth it

Have fewer cashiers than wal mart if you can believe that. They need a self check out if they plan on having two cashiers. People like myself dont want to stand in line

Not a very good selection when it comes to Whataburger shirts. Place was big, friendly workers. Nice selection on shoes.

Very helpful in sporting goods. Very reasonable prices on firearms and ammo, but limited on ammo. Some inexpensive scopes too.

The checkers were great. The store seemed understaffed, the clerks working outside were so busy on their phones, one even refused to get buggys for the checkers.

I have never had a bad experience in this store, and today was no different. I was in the shoe department and it was a madhouse! However, I was asked several different times by different associates if I needed help and they were very accommodating. At the registers a lady in the line next to mine was being extremely rude to the cashier but the cashier was handling her with grace and tact. She handled a lot better than I would have! Overall, very good shopping experience as usual.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Manager richard refused to see me to help with my issue, refused to honor their return policy, refused to exchange a product for another instore product. The lady at the CUSTOMER SERVICE desk was rude. She acted like a child when i showed her their return policy online. Ive had to drive to (1.5 hours away) for an exchange before and richard promised to cut me a deal on my next big purchase, which would have been today, but after he refused to see me, I see now that my business or satisfaction is absolutely not wanted at this store.

Lufkin Academy lacks quite a bit of inventory most days even if you show up at opening time. Although this location is closest to my residence I prefer to drive to Tyler since Im confident that theyll have what I need.

I needed tennis shoes and they have gobs of brands. My foot is pretty narrow and I can always find one of the two or three brands that will fit me. Also they have lots of 3X shirts to choose from to fit my very tall burly son-in-law.

Had the boat batteries I needed. Easy access and easy to find for the out of towner. Close to Walmart, Sams and Cracker Barrel.

Need to update the online stock. Has shown 6.5 creedmoor ammo in stock for almost a week and there hasn’t been any.

The supplies were good and it wasnt crowded.

What a place? I love it. Great Service. Friendly people. They do sale guns, and there always seems to be a long line for them. Maybe go early in the morning if you want one. I was looking for a fishing reel, they didnt have the one I wanted. I have bought reels there before, they have good pricing, and when you pick out the line you want on it they put it on for free.

Like the store. Wish all the preppers would STOP buying ALL the shotgun shells.

Recently Academy stopped giving rewards on their credit cards, now they give a 5% discount. I guess that is OK, but I like the rewards better. The reason I was very disappointed with my most recent visit is the shoe department was filthy, trash and shoes were scattered everywhere and the shoes on the shelves were not easy to identify. For a while they had color stickers to identify the style of shoe, but not anymore. We asked a sales lady for help, she said there was one pair in my size but just stood there and didnt help at all. Perhaps she was afraid to get her obscenely long eye lashes caught in the ladder. Anyway instead of purchasing 5 pairs of shoes we ended up with 2 pairs. I think that from now on well wait to buy shoes from a factory outlet. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Found a really nice fishing reel the wind went very long play it was annoying they open up everything I bought to look to see if anything was inside which made me feel like they were looking at me like a thief
