This is an old fashioned hardware store that is stocked to the gills with merchandise. They have everything that you could possibly need in a very small store. I love the well-worn wooden floor and the helpful staff. Staff are always willing to help me find what I need.

Friendly and very helpful staff. I love being able to purchase things like nails/bolts/screws individually, not an entire box when your project only needs a few. Small shop but they have managed to stock a lot of options. Paper bags, not plastic bags as well. My preferred hardware store!

You are not allowed in the store....you have to call and tell them what you need then knock on the back door. They will then get your stuff.

The Ace Hardware Center on Willy Street is our neighborhood hardware store and it always comes through for us. They stock all the essentials, they order special items at the customers request, and -- most importantly -- their customer service is excellent. Their staff members provide guidance and are honest (for example, once I chose a more expensive version of an item, not really knowing what I needed; a staff member helped me find the better fit, which was also less expensive). In short, the Willy Street Ace is everything a family-owned hardware store should be. Were grateful to have this store as our go-to for home improvement needs, gardening supplies, and many household goods. Bonuses: the store has that unbeatable hardware store smell, and their candy selection near the registers has some of my childhood favorites. (Junior Mints! Pearsons Bun bars!) They are extremely careful on Covid safety protocols. And when the staff person made an error on quoting the price, instead of coming back out to ask if the actual price was okay, he just discounted the price for me.

I normally would not go out of my way to write a review about hardware stores, but Ace on Willy St. is truly an exemplary example of GREAT customer service. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. In addition, their prices are pretty good (maybe not quite as good as the big box stores, but certainly reasonable). Id rather spend my money here as it truly feels like a neighborhood store. One example Id like to share, I was moving and needed some boxes. The staff helped me find boxes and bubble wrap. I went to check out and the staff mentioned that they actually had free boxes in the back on the porch and I was welcome to look there first before buying boxes. I did just that and was extremely pleased that I saved money and the environment by using their free boxes. Please support this great business by considering going to Ace before going elsewhere!

Great hardware store, and it also has a nice little garden center outdoors in the warm weather. Theyve got tons of stuff and lots of expertise. When Ive gone in with some random screw, or a tool with a piece missing, the staff always knows exactly where to find the thing I need. One time I broken my garden hoe by using it to chip ice, and went to get a replacement. It was too early in the season to have something like that on the sales floor, but one guy went and found me one in the basement, and they even gave me an off-season discount. I love everything about this place!

I love sound of the creaking wooden floors as I look in aisle four for wood glue. The staff understands the needs of the 100 year old houses in the neighborhood far more than the big box stores. Unexplainable plumbing, window sash pulley assembly, old custom locks - they get it. The prices are slightly higher but I look at it as gas and time savings. Slow down and check out the ice picks and old tool collections. There used to be more stores like this - visit this one today.

Im sorta embarrassed Ive never posted a review for them before. Theyve been five stars ever since we moved into the neighborhood in 1981 and they had everything we needed to get our old house working. But they were golden again this morning. I asked for a replacement part for my dehumidifier. Tom suggested that, since there is no weight on it, any rubber stopper might work. I tried my wine stopper, but that has a tiny opening to suck the air out of the wine, so I tried one of my many wine corks on hand. Perfect! Imagine a hardware store in a movie with creaky floors and items older than you on display and for sale. Now add to that exceptionally helpful staff including the owners there to help you. They have darn near everything you could possibly need. Plus you don’t have to deal with the endless confusion of the big box stores where no one can help you.

They do it right, they gave Mars, big dog teats they all, help you even if its busy, Great family, and atmosphere, they opened for me for a 4th July emergency, it saved the day,

You can have the best selection and prices but it all falls apart when the cashier doesnt acknowledge you or speak to you as youre checking out. And at the end I thanked him and was also met with silence. Why have a person like that ringing people up? I dont need fake enthusiasm, but just a few words makes all the difference.

Okay; dont get me wrong I LOVE this store. They have what I want and the long time associates are FABULOUS. They get right to the meat n potatoes.However, I did get one guy who seemed to be rather snobby towards my purchase of LEDs. I did not come in to get lectured. LEDs have saved me $$ and Ive had my one bulb going on 5 years. If people dont get hassled for incandescents, I dont want the attitude for LEDs.
