Probably the best hardware store in Madison, and I say that as a lifelong Home Depot devotee. The staff always knows what I need or how to get it, and has an unbelievable stock for the size of the building. They continue to conduct great business even when COVID forced them to fill orders solely for pick-up, and they always know what I need even better than I do. No complaints there. They can also order things and are great about knowing the depth and breadth of their own stock and shipping schedules, so if something isnt in I know exactly when to come back, or what would make an appropriate substitute.

Super friendly customer service. Very fast and knowledgeable. Also very COVID safe. You just order what you need at the walk up window and if you pay with a card or your phone it’s no touch.

Quality Hardware is such a gem in the Park Street community. Their staff knows what they’re doing and are always helpful. I’ve had nothing but great experiences during the 5 years we’ve lived in the neighborhood.I’ve especially appreciated their response to the pandemic. A quick call to them and they make sure they have what you need ready for pickup. These phone conversations are quick with their knowledgeable staff, even for a halfwit DIY guy like myself. It’s also worth saying that they were THE FIRST business I saw using plexiglass shields in Madison after the pandemic started. They took it seriously and I’m forever appreciative. Plexiglass shield at the front door with enough room to hand you your products and take your payment. They’re actively keeping themselves and this community safe while continuing to provide great service.

Had some pluming problems menards and home depot both told me i need to call a plumber. The young man working the counter took the time to listen to my problem and what i was looking for to solve it. they did not have exactly what i was looking for but found something that he thought might work. it will work until i can order the part i need. was nice to have a little customer service in stead of telling me to call a plumber cause you have no idea what im talking about.

If I could make a template of how to operate a retail business, how to effectively, skillfully, and politely serve one’s customers, this would be it. I wish every business I walked into delivered the kind of experience that Quality hardware does. It’s the best hardware store in Madison, for sure. And one of the best hardware stores anywhere.

Not only sidewalk customer spacing, but they will search for anything you need, bring it to you at the window, give advice, all with wonderful warm customer service. Ive lived near this place for almost a decade and have visited many, many times over the years for hardware odds and ends. Every time Ive gone there I am immediately greeted and asked what Im looking for. They lead me right to the item and ask if I need anything else. The staff is always friendly and very helpful to suggest alternative items if they dont carry what Im looking for.Compare to the times Ive been to Home Depot, wandering the aisles hoping to find an employee to help me. When I find one and tell them what Im looking for they say something like Is that a tool? (Yes, they asked me that once) or they just tell me to look somewhere else in the store.If you need to buy anything at a hardware store come to Quality True Value. Its seriously the best. Im going there now for duct tape and Im pretty stoked.

I love a community store that knows it’s neighborhood. They carry so many things that no one else would carry because they know they are used to fix the vintage homes in the area. So appreciated!

The BEST Hardware Store you can find! I am the 3rd generation out of 4, in my family who frequents this store. My grandpa introduced them to me at a very young age, he loved the assistance provided because he was blind but it still didnt stop him from working in the workshop. When we went when I was little, Shanes dad would always give me a miss cut key and tell me to find something it unlocks. I usually could find a lock it fit in and even if it didnt work, to me the key fitting ment I found that keys home. To this day they do this for my kiddo. I will drive to them over anyone, from anywhere. Where can you go that someone greets you and says what can I help you find, then goes and gets it. No where but here. Thank you for the help and being part of our memories.

Called to inquire about the availability of a certain product before making the trek over to the store. Skylar (sp?) said they had what I was looking for. Made the journey through the road construction and was greeted by Skylar who retrieved the product for me. Love the local hardware stores! Price was right too!

This place is the best! Ive lived in this neighborhood for 17 years and have been coming here through that time. Its been in the same family for 3 generations, and the Novotney family couldnt be more helpful or friendly! You will immediately be greeted when coming in, and theyll have what youre looking for in a matter of minutes. This is what a retail hardware store should be!

My experience was great. Came in with a project and Skylar (the owners son and one of the staff) helped me find the best and cheapest parts. This guy knows the store and its inventory inside out and is genuinely enthusiastic to help you out. Definitely coming back for my next project.

Always greeted, taken to what you need and knowledgeable. I cant tell you how much time I save over depot and how Im actually help vs handed off over and over again. Also I get a real kick out of the old timers not wanting to get help from the owners daughter only to be schooled by her later as she is extemely knowledgeable on almost any project needs - dont judge a book by its cover. My only wish is that they were open till 5:30 since everything seems to go to sucks status at 5:05!

Have always had a positive experience. Someone greets me at the door and then helps me locate products. They can generally explain some of the differences includes cost more, but is almost the same as this cheaper product.

I can hardly walk. I walked in, tell them what I need, they go get it for me, I pay for it and walk out. Also get a neighbor discount. Love this store!

This is a small shop, and you shouldnt expect them to have everything. That having been said, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and it is convenient. Perfect for when you find you need a single tool or some small supplies for a project.

This is by far the best hardware store in Madison, you are greeted upon entering the store, then shown where the items are that your in search of, the crew are efficient, courteous, knowledgeable and professional.

They are so, incredibly, helpful! Having been to all manner of hardware stores from big-box to small town shops and, generally, having little to no knowledge of what I need the folks at this shop have gained my business for all hardware needs. Rather than the usual anxiety of going to a hardware store and wandering around aimlessly, I get excited to go to True Value on Park Street! :)

Carrying along with the areas relaxed ideas of how life should be, dont expect this store to open on time. Employees get there when they get there. They may honk at you from the gas station across the way as you wait in frustration at the front door to be let in. Upon entering, I was not surprised to find they couldnt help me inflate the snowblower tire I brought in, nor did they have the correct shear pins for the snowblower. Why bother stocking something a guy might need in winter? Save your time and money and shop eleswhere.
