I recently attended a conceal and carry class through 704 Firearms Training. Definitely worth checking out. The owner of 704 Training, Mike, was very thorough and patient. We completed our demo portion at Point Blank. That was my first time going there. I’ve been back several times to shop for a gun and go to a range. The staff is always friendly. They are very knowledgeable and entertain all my novice questions. When I went back to practice at the range several patrons didn’t have on masks and the staff didn’t enforce the mask requirement. Luckily they weren’t in the same room. They have several rooms to practice and a variety of weapons to choose from. Their ammunition price are at market price. If you are looking for a clean and welcoming environment, then Point Blank is a good option.
Did my conceal to carry class here. Had such a great instructor and time that day. Highly recommend this space!
Purchased two pistols from here, people were most helpful to my wife and me. Answered our questions, never rushed us.Used the range a few times, nice setup and staff again is very helpful. Highly recommend them.Bill Carfagno.
Great experience. They had a discount on membership offers, so I joined. Perfect timing since my concealed carry permit recently arrived.
Stopped by to look for a gun and try out a couple guns to find something I liked, Dan and the rest of the staff were very helpful. I did not end up buying a gun here as I found something else I liked a bit more but the staff was great a great help. I will definitely be back. The atmosphere and the staff are a bit better than at Moorseville as well.
. Highly recommend. Topnotch facility .See CHRISand all your expectationswill be met .
Great place to practice gun safety. Employees were extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
Went to Point Blank for the first time today and could not have had a better experience. Dale greeted me at the range desk and filled me in on everything I needed to know and offered any help I might need. Before going into the range I toured the store and was pleasantly greeted by the counter staff who offered any assistance I might need and then let me wonder around unimpeded. I felt like I was in a well run establishment that kept a close eye on crossing t’s and dotting i’s. I am considering becoming a member and look forward to my next visit.
Very clean and upkept range. I have purchased several handguns from this range over the years and competitive prices and also you can rent and try the gun before purchasing which we all know is a plus. Would highly recommend trying this place out if you have never been. Also you can go back to range and shoot again in the same business day so twice the value of other ranges.
Called ahead atime for a part pull up to the store and they don’t have what I called and asked for. Horrible customer service. Didn’t even offer to order me one.
Staff was great! Ben is a terrific trainer😘
I’ve been here quite a few times over the past couple years. Always had good experiences until the other day when I went to buy a gun from them. I watched David behind the counter help 3 groups of customers as well as myself, sell 2 guns, and answer my very long list of questions almost simultaneously. He also did some work on the gun I bought and I am very pleased. Excellent experience.
I enjoyed going there my first time ever going to a gun range.
Very clean facility. I wouldn’t take the concealed carry class with Josh. I almost felt like I was discriminated against as a woman. In the marksmanship portion of the training I was yelled at several times, as if I was a child by the instructor. I didn’t pass the marksmanship portion of the class and was instructed to sign up for another class for 100.00. It didn’t sit well with me after I was told to spend additional monies. When I left I called around and found that other instructors will work with you for FREE to help you pass the marksmanship portion of the class. I even had one offer to help me without going to his class. It seems like there is more concern about selling class time and money. Most of the staff there isn’t friendly at all! Ben was great and the people at the range center was nice. If you have underlined conditions don’t go there. I didn’t see one staff member wearing a mask and there was no social distancing in the classroom. You literally have a person sitting at the same table as you. I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone.
Great friendly service, Lee is very knowledgeable and walks you through the process of purchasing a weapon.
Steve and Joe were amazing to work with! Steve was very considerate when booking a birthday party. And Joe was very cool and helpful at the range. Thanks you!
Attended a class for AR-15 fundamentals yesterday. Jason was awesome, their staff is super knowledgeable. The goof ball that built my rifle (different gun shop in Charlotte) put in too heavy of a buffer, they were able to help me figure that out and point me in the direction I needed to go.Josh is a fantastic instructor. Excellent value, 100$ for a 4 hour class covering everything from ammo selection, gun maintenance, safety procedures, clearing malfunctions, zeroing sights (which they did for us, free of charge), emergency reloading, proactive reloading, and snap firing. All of us clearly walked out of the class feeling way more comfortable and confident in our abilities and knowledge.Highly recommend it, once I get my rifle functioning properly I will definitely be back.
Great selection of firearms for purchase and rental. Very helpful staff, will answer any questions and not make newbies feel like idiots. Also have good amount of training classes with professional instructors.
Been there 3 times now. First time I didnt take a gun with me and didnt plan on buying anything, just wanted to scope the place out. Purposefully wore a scruffy t-shirt and jeans. Staff was awesome. Very friendly. Not sure if it was the manager or owner I spoke with but he was perfectly willing to chat with me and give me all the info I needed even though I obviously wasnt going to spend any money. Been back two more times, with guns. Their range fees are arguably a little on the high side, but really about average for these new hi-tech ranges. If you dont like it, dont go... theyll be more room for me and my friends! :-)
Never been here but I bought a gift card for a friend and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Friendly people and decent prices. Great selection of stuff
Great store and range. Helpful staff that doesnt talk down to you like other places.
Ammo is very expensive $49 for a box of 50 9mm rounds. When you can get them at $20 for the same amount at another range.
Amazing staff who make you feel welcome. I went for the first time ever and had a great experience. Shout out to Steve R who is just an overall amazing person and wants to help you become a well rounded individual when it comes to being tactical.
Excellent range and staff. I am not a very experienced shooter, although i did bring my own equipment and ammo. Pre-registration via their website form makes the process even easier. I made a few (very) rookie mistakes while on the range before firing (loading magazines) and the staff was extremely helpful, and understanding of a beginning shooter. The equipment and conditions are top notch. Would definitely practice here again.
I went in today and kind of knew what I was looking for. Chase helped and it was a nice smooth transaction. Everytime I come here i have a good experience! Staff is always friendly. I will shop here all the time.
So far my visits here have been pleasant being new to shooting. 1st visit was just to ask general questions about classes and different guns, the staff member took time to answer all my questions and not push me to buy or sign up for anything.Second visit was to schedule a one on one session in which they accommodated right on the spot. My instructor Marshall was excellent and very informative, I was able to put into practice what I learned during our range time. Will be scheduling more classes. This place will be my go to range.
Go and Learn How to Shoot
If covid-19 exposure is a concern for you dont go to Point Blank. Not a single person in the place either behind the counter or customer was wearing a mask. I dont think Ill be coming back. If I could give them a zero star rating I would.
Visited from Michigan. Everyone was polite and helpful. The range is clean and well lit, and the daily-use pricing was great for our small group. It might be good to separate the pistol and rifle lanes; the AR shooters barked louder and caused a few twitches for us. But overall it was a good experience. Also, their rent-a-caliber program is a great way to try out the firearms.
Just left here as a birthday date and it was an absolutely amazing experience. First time shooting and Nathan was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. We had gone to another location prior and they werent interested in helping us so it ended up being a great win when we came here. Would definitely come back again. Very welcoming environment. Thanks for being a great part of my birthday!
The staff are super cool and very helpful. Very well stocked shop. This is my new favorite place! I have to add this from yesterday.... my AR jammed and I had no tools with me. I asked a range officer if he had someone to help. He took my rifle and about 20 minutes later he came back with it and said they cleaned it and adjusted something I cant recall right now and they wanted no payment for it. I will tell you right now the staff are second to none!
Not very friendly and very judge mental personalities from the employees, they laughed right in my face and told me to go get new ammo when I had brought the wrong ammo (the same ammo I’ve used at the range closer to my home for years) Once in the range they won’t let you have peace they’re always up your butt about something and seem to laugh and judge you like they are the best in the world. Would not recommend to anyone (Go to Eagle Gun range in Concord) blows this place out of the water.
Great Experience for my first time shooting thanks to Ben Newton. He was amazing and patient. Will definitely go back and hopefully soon.
Went in today looking for a rifle bag and Lee hooked me up. This guy was great and helpful. He took his time and really gave me great customer service. Also he taught me a lot of different things. So go by and ask for Lee. Point Blank should be proud to have him on their team
I had a sour taste left in my mouth because of some really poor customer service at the range. We came in as a group of 4 and the staff would not let us have 2 lanes (2 people to each lane). There were 3 open lanes beside us, no one waiting, and I politely asked. I understand there are rules but there’s a way to say no to a customer without being a complete jerk. I won’t be back to the range. However, the facility is very nice and clean and the people up front were very friendly and helpful.
If your ammo has one iota of steel in it, dont bother coming here cause apparently you cant shoot it. At least at Blackstone you can use steel-casing.
Please make sure they don’t do you like they did me I had a gun transferred her and they held on to my gun giving me the run around not wanting me to get it They all played games like my application was in the open stage they had me wait 4 months when they could have released the gun to me under the Brady law and right now today I still don’t have it I felt Discriminated as a women and a black women at that I wouldn’t encourage this place.and I’m giving a one star so if you see more stars they have it fit to make it look better
Huge, clean and welcoming facility. All of the guns and accessories can be a little intimidating for a newbie, like me. But the staff are very thorough, which adds some comfort. Clear instructions helped me enjoy my experience and have a good time. Will definitely come back. Maybe I will bring some ear plugs to go with the muffs because it was still quite loud.
I called the range to ask about how their inventory was looking Stores are selling out quicker with COVID-19 and I was told I gave very rude employee that they had “about 400 handguns in a 9 mm.” When I arrived to look they had six cases of guns and probably two cases of 9 mm. After 10 minutes of waiting at the desk someone finally came to help me and I said where’s the rest they said that’s all they had..
State of the art range! Three bays, many lanes. Great selection of firearms to rent with reasonable prices. The building has an all around nice atmosphere! There are lots of classes available and private instructors. The staff are extremely kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable - Ben is the BEST!
Go take a look with confidence! Friendly, knowledgable staff willing to give advice whether youre looking for your first handgun or trying to choose your next part in a rifle build. Range is excellent with a flat rate for the whole day and a wide selection of firearms to rent and try out before purchase. Highly recommended!
This was my first time at a gun range. The staff was excellent at customer service and teaching a nervous person how to feel confident using a firearm. I was so impressed that I purchased a membership!
Not very friendly. Didnt help us after being in there for 20 minutes. We were pointing to several guns we were wanting to look at and we meant buisness. We couldve purchased anything in there, interested in about 5 different guns. No one spoke to us. Witness 3 different people (guys) helping this one guy and his attractive girlfriend. Didnt know if thats why they had to stand around the main guy or not. We had enough if just waiting foir someone to acknowledge us or just to have thrum show us something.
Awesome store, very clean, large selection. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of classes to take as well.Range is clean and safe.$20 per person at the range for all day (you can come and go as well)$20 per gun rental$30 unlimited gun rental any guns on the wall
I took the concealed carry class here on a Saturday. Halfway through the shooting evaluation, a storm knocked out the power. Only half of the group had shot so the rest of us had to come back the next day to finish. Although we shot in groups of 6 on the Saturday, we were only allowed to shoot in groups of 2 on the Sunday. This was because the range was more concerned with keeping lanes open for the paying public than accommodating class members who had already paid for a class. We actually were only able to use 1 lane for about an hour on Sunday as we waited for someone to finish. Our instructor allowed the final 3 of us to shoot together since there were 5 lanes open and she was reprimanded by the staff for using more than the 2 allotted lanes which was absolutely ridiculous. I lost all respect for this establishment after how poorly they responded to this situation. They care only about making money and not about the community. I will never give them another penny and you shouldnt either. Avoid at all costs!!
The Point Blank Range in Matthews, NC was awesome from start to finish. The employees were extremely helpful, and informative. This was my first time shooting indoor, but the staff made me feel comfortable. When I am in the area, I will definetly return.
I took the 2 Day Combat Handgun Marksmanship class with instructor Daniel Richardson in May 2019. This is an EXCELLENT class. It takes you through the major dimensions of a rounded handgun marksmanship skill set using a series of timed drills in which you isolate each particular skill to assess accuracy versus time. In this way, you develop a 360 degree view of your level of skill and become aware of your development path with respect to the standard. This course pushes you out of your level of comfort and leaves you with a clear and measurable path for improvement. It was also a small-size class with only a few participants, so instructor Richardson could spend some time with each one of us making corrections and adjustments at the time of each drill. The class also included sections on angles of movement wrt active shooters, low/no light and shooting from retention situations. After each main section, there were debriefing sessions to analyze what went well/not so well, why and how to improve. I wholeheartedly recommend this class if you want to know where to improve and by how much.
Great facility, great price. Those are the only reasons I go. Most of the staff isnt very personable or approachable. Brother in law and I go there weekly and some of the dudes running the desk are so robotic and impersonal. The same range guy usually checks us in and acts as if we are never there. Only a couple of guys are above average like Aaron, Greg, and the gunsmith. Some give off a vibe and arrogance. As someone who now frequents gun ranges and gun shops this is pretty normal behavior for employees. But as someone who started as a novice this could be a major turn off for people just starting out. Considering the competition(like Blackstone) customer service is sub par. Nothing personal. Just thinking on the customer service side of things.
Great range and staff are excellent in helping find the right weapon for me.
Cheaper than other indoor ranges and incredibly awesome customer service. Everyone here was very engaging and knowledgeable and clearly enjoys their job/loves to help - Marshall was our favorite! My boyfriend and I had a blast. We look forward to going back.
Amazing service! I came to sight in my rifle, and I was having trouble with my new optics. Chase joined me on the range and helped me get it zeroed in! Will definitely be coming back in the future.
This is the best range around .. great staff .. that do their job..!! Also willing to help .. what i really like they are paying attention to the range and will stop any unsafe activities .. if you want to rent a gun and try it there is a great section to choose from .. also there is a great store for extra clips or mags.. need work they have a gunsmith on duty .. just a great gun range and gun store ..
Very pleasant experience. We went on a weekend and were able to start shooting within 20 minutes, maybe it was less. We stayed for a few hours, no problem whatsoever.I believe there was 6-8 lanes in a room and there was multiple rooms. It was $20 for an all day limit. You could stay there as long as you want. And I believe you can also leave the store for a bit and go back later in the day!Awesome place!
Great range! Greg tought an excellent concealed carry course! When your using the range, you can leave and come back later the same day, without paying again! Plenty of parking in back.
Great place, Ive only used the range and rentals so I cant speak to purchasing anything. Though as someone still fairly new to firearms, you feel very comfortable there. Their prices make a bit more sense, they dont charge you per hour for rentals or range time so you dont feel rushed. And the staff is very helpful, as long as your respectful. Really nothing bad to say.
Brand new. Large selection of firearms at fair prices. Very helpful and friendly staff. Range was very nice and roomy. Must review 8 minute safety video and go over rules with range manager, no big deal. Brass ammo only. John was very helpful in clearing jam. Will go back with this kind of service.
While treating ourselves to a ladies day at Point Blank Range we were assisted by to amazing associates(Marshall and Joel). They were very knowledgeable about the fire arms and patient in teaching us how to use them. We had a blast while learning the proper use of the guns and letting off some stream. We highly recommend Point Blank Range Matthews to anyone looking to try shooting in a clean facility with very knowledgeable associates.
Horrible customer service! Very rude towards me and my father. As we were purchasing a pistol, they freaked out because my father took a phone call and began screaming at him, for no reason! Do not spend your hard earned money here. 0/10 if possible.
Very good firearm selection, okay knife selection, good selection of higher end firearm accessories. Range is excellent...arguably one of the best around...but expensive if you need to buy ammo and rent their handguns. No high pressure sales...staff seems very knowledgeable about the firearms they sell. Some clothing for sale, as well as cases and range bags...but these items are high priced. The store seems directed to the higher end shooter. Some firearms are priced competitively...so you might get lucky and find what youre looking for at a fair price.
Bought my sons a Groupon for an all day experience here and we had a very nice day. Joe was absolutely fabulous! He took the time to show my first time shooter everything and helped him feel comfortable shooting. I greatly appreciate all of the help and excellent customer service we received today!
THE STAFF ARE AWESOME AND SUPER POLITE. REALLY MADE ME FEEL COMFORTABLE SHOOTING MY OWN FIREARM. SUPER GREAT SELECTION DEFINITELY SUPERIOR OVER THE COMPETITION IN FIREARM SELECTION AND TRAINING. NOT SURE WHAT THESE OTHER REVIEWS ARE ABOUT BUT IVE NOTICED NONE OF THE NEGATIVITY OTHERS SPEAK OF WHEN I WAS THERE. WOULDNT GO ANYWHERE ELSE.
What a great place! Went in to make my first pistol purchase. They never rushed me. They never tried to tell me which brand was best. They just presented the facts and let me go shoot each one. In two hours I shot five 9mm compacts and made a very competitive purchase. Makes you wonder why it takes six hours to purchase a car! Aaren, Stacy and Greg made what I thought was going to be a challenge a really great experience. Ill be back!
Theyre quick to respond, and some of the staff are friendly. But thats about the extent of the positives. Some of the staff were fairly rude, acting very suspicious when I walked in and not very interested in assisting me. I also have to question how knowledgeable they are, as one of them told me that theres no such thing as a Glock 22 - a very popular model used by law enforcement and something they list on their website as being among their rental selections. Overall, wouldnt recommend.
Recently got into shooting as a hobby and these folks were helpful, informative, and answered to all of my questions about firearms. They were friendly enough to help me, even to the newbie-st of things like zeroing my rifle and even installing night sights on my handgun without cost from the gunsmith. The only con I would see so far is their prices on their merchandise since its a bit on the pricey side of things but carries known brands. Now I come there regularly to shoot at their range with membership to help mitigate the admission cost. Would recommend to fellow newbies and others to check this place out!
This a great range and the sales/shooting assistants are just as top notch as the range. Shooting there was way more pleasant then most ranges Ive been to. Cant wait to go back.
Has to be one of the best location for a gun range in North Carolina. Great customer service. Great selection also. I will definitely be coming back to this range. Great prices too on the range.
Point Blank Range is a well maintained shooting range allowing you to practice with both handguns and rifles. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they have a comprehensive store with all types of guns. The prices are slightly above average but the service after the sale well than makes up for the difference. The hours are also convenient, allowing you to practice or try out different guns at a reasonable price at a time that fits your schedule.
Just an outstanding full service shooting range! The sales staff are extremely knowledgeable and the range people are courteous and safe. They also have a full, and I mean FULL, range of training events and competitions.
This is a great range tucked away on the edge of Charlotte. The prices are fair — you pay $20 for a lane rental if youre a non-member. The kicker is that very $20 gets you that lane for the entire day — you dont pay by the hour as you would at other local ranges.Firearms can be rented as well, and theyve got a pretty nice selection. The same concept for lane rental applies here — $20 for however long youd like, plus the free use of any other firearm in the same caliber whenever you feel like changing it up. If youre looking to buy, this is an incredibly cost-effective way to find the right option for your needs as a shooter.Staff are generally attentive and knowledgeable. Theres a hefty selection of training classes offered here as well.If youre looking for an affordable range in the Charlotte area, youll be hard-pressed to find one offering an on-par with this one.
Best in class. Whether youre a pro or a novice at firearms, these guys are here to help. May staff members have been in the military or police forces for decades, and can help you choose from their selection. The gun range is clean and modern, and they strongly promote safety, every step of the way. The range officers are quite knowledgeable about all firearms available to rent and can give basic instruction if needed. The only con is that the cartridges run a bit high. Otherwise, 5 stars, look no further.
I had heard great things about this range, however this past week my 20 year old son went to the range with his uncle and was not treated very well. He went with his uncle and he was forced to call me on the phone to get my permission to Target shoot. Not only is he 20 but he lives on his own this was ridiculous. My son has been raised with guns and took his Hunter safety at 13. I dont understand why they gave him hard time even his uncle said he was completely respectful the whole time and there was no reason to treat them the way they did. Very disappointed.
This is a decent place for several reasons.-A membership that allows 24/7 access-The warranty on their firearms-The lack of junk brands-Many of the staff are highly qualified Veteran, Competition Shooters and Contractors or die hard enthusiasts-Its location-You can shoot long guns here-They have a decent selection
Took the family. Had a great time. Great staff friendly and willing to help beginners. Will definitely be back. The only downside was the wait. Took an hour to get a lane.
Decided to visit range to compare to Raleighs big range. PBR is smaller but is laid out much better. Staff at both ranges are nice, but the Raleigh range is micromanage by the one of the 2 owners and he knows nothing about running a range. PBR is managed very well from what I could see. Range counter can help watch the range for safety as well as the RSOs inside the bay. PBR is much cheaper the the Raleigh range in every dept. Very nice place to visit!
Nice staff. Good customer service, I like this range much better than firepower! Very clean nice facility. My wife feels very comfortable there as well. I enjoy shooting there.
Tremendous range. Great staff, clean, well-kept shooting lanes and tremendous selection of guns and ammunition. I went to shoot there for the first time today, and will definitely be going back.
Great range. Very clean. Did not have to wait long for a lane.
Drew is very knowledgable and staff very friendly. I did have to have my background run to pickup my pistol I had cleaned. A little strange but I understand as there was not a formal procedure established when it was dropped off. Range is by far the best Ive ever been to. While at the counter I did notice a man lay down a loaded 1911, no case, which made me a bit uncomfortable. I assumed it had been checked however there was a round in the chamber as I later saw him confronted at another counter, pistol was taken and emptied in the range. Great way to make a point and handle the situation. Range officer came out and said we now have a cleared firearm. Good for him. Unfortunately these folks are everywhere, ideally we could catch them at the door. No question as time passes this range will take over the Matthews area.
Came in today too buy a gun and the customer service was not existent. We werent greetednir acknowledge by anyone so after standing around for a few moments we left. Guess well and recommend our people to the gun store off Wilkinson. They have better prices as well, I see.
Super cool staff. Love coming here. Shout-out to Greg, super nice guy
My teenage son has done several courses here and loves it! The Zombie Halloween course was super cool. The staff here is like family. Couldnt ask for a better experience!
Nice shop, EXPENSIVE Range. Took my dad for an hour at the range to sight in my recent AR build. My dad isnt a big shooter so I just told them we would share a lane. He put about 15 rounds downrange and I shot three boxes. We were charged $20 each for a shared lane. It was a Wednesday night an hour before close and they were empty. Ive shot at a lot of ranges but never been charged full price for two shooters on a single lane. 4 boxes of ammo basic range 223 ammo, two targets, two shooters, one set of eyes & ears, and a single lane... $107.00...Aside from the bonkers range fees, the staff were nice enough, and did loan me a little oil to help break in the new bot carrier. Facility was great, clean and everything worked like it was supposed to.
Brought an older gun in to be looked at, the guy behind the counter was a revolver guy, he gave me some tips and pointers to do to see if they would clear up my issue. This will save myself on charges if I needed their gunsmith to work on it. Thought that was cool. I walked around and just browsed checking out the store since it was my first visit. I wasnt hassled or pressured to buy and was told if I had any questions or wanted to look/hold anything, just ask. Enjoyed the visit. Brian G.
Great place to learn something new or get your skills to a higher level. Very friendly staff and organized. Will recommend 5+
For people bringing their own gun and ammo who plan to spend a good amount of time on the range, a $20 all day pass is a great deal. If you have to rent a gun you will have to buy their ammo on site which can get a little pricey, especially if you dont plan to stay long. The shop is ok, but there are wider selections elsewhere.
Ive been to this range before and just recently took a training course through one of their instructors (Daniel). I have a lot of firearms experience and been to multiple ranges, in the area and around the country. This is one of nicest and more reasonable priced ranges in the area! The instructor (Daniel) was GREAT. He is an awesome instructor and setup a great course. Highly recommend this range. (The range only allows brass casing use for personal firearms, not even aluminium casings :-( )
The staff here is incredibly helpful and pleasant. Apart from The Range at Ballantyne, which was pricey and unpleasant. I would recommend Point Blank to any newbies. Keep up the great customer service!
For a fun afternoon, go shot some stuff!!!! Point Blank in Matthews has a beautiful range. It is air conditioned and clean. The cost for range rental is reasonable and the cost for gun rental is reasonable as well. My favorite range to shoot at.
Great range, helpful staff, my favorite after going to quite a few. Wait times are reasonable. Rounds and add on reasonable as well.
Staff was extremely pleasant, supportive and helpful. The goal is to make sure that time there is a great one. Will definitely go back when next I am in NC.
Fantastic stuff. Endless patience for newbies and very informative. Prices are very good too during sales. Strongly recommend
