This was my go to place even referred family members, took my car a couple weeks ago for brakes and rotors priced jumped a $100 from a few weeks when my daughter took her car. Dropped my truck off for a simple oil change 4 hours later still waiting no one called. I tried several times to call no one answered. So I drove up there truck was finished. No one answers business phones but they answer their personal cells. Very unprofessional

Went here with check engine light on needed thermostat changed they were unaware my car has 2 and claimed they fixed 1 and labor was already done paid $200 left with my car still running hot took it somewhere else was told the car hadn’t even been touched!!! So I paid for something that was not even done!! I always went here for oil changes and things but after that I’ll never be back!

Good for oil changes with fluid refills

Took a car there twice to be fixed and when we picked it up the 2nd time nothing on the dash board worked anymore and they said it was like that when we know it wasnt. They have horrible customer service and will never return there again

I had to take my csr back there 2 times and still didnt fix the problem....refuse to take it there again...i wouldnt recommend taken your car there...i gave 1 star but they dont deserve any

I went to my local dealer to get a price on a starter for my 2016 Camaro. I was told that it was going to cost 1200 dollars to have it installed...My buddy told me to check out Velasquez. He said they have been doing work on his car and his families for a few yrs now....from the very beginning they were very nice and courteous. It is a small shop and from the outside looking in you may second guess going inside, but I was about saving money at this point and decided to go through with my friends recommendation.....I saved up to 700 dollars on the repair and I was very satisfied with the out come...I would definitely recommend giving them a chance......

They tried to charge me $1200 for labor and every other place I called said it would be about $600, so I picked my car up and paid $500 somewhere else. I will NEBER go there again.

It was amazing. Had a break job done by them nothing fancy, but as my wife pulled down the road with my kids in the car the front passenger wheel fell off. After they were told to fix it they were kind enough to leave me with a nice 3 1/2 in deck screw in the tire that had fallen off

I took my 2004 Pontiac Vibe to the Clean Air Emissions Testing service in Crown Point, and on my first test, my car failed the test. One of the employees working in Crown Point suggested I take it to the nearest Auto Zone so they could diagnose what was wrong with my car FOR FREE. So, I did.Turns out, I had an issue with my EVAC hose. Then, an employee at the Auto Zone suggested i go to Velasquez Mufflers & Brakes to see how much it would cost to get it fixed. I was not really familiar with Velasquez, so I decided to take my car to Mike Anderson Chevrolet in Merrillville, because they had serviced two of my other automobiles before.MISTAKE. First, Mike Anderson charged me $99 or $99.95 just to diagnose the vehicle, even though I had already told them that Auto Zone had done that already FOR FREE. I reluctantly paid the diagnostic fee.Then, I specifically told them, I am only willing to pay THE BARE MINIMUM that would be required to ensure that I pass my next Emissions Test. The woman (I think her name was Crystal or something similar) said, I understand Mr.Currie.Next thing I know, they inform me that I will have to pay somewhere in the area of $925 - $975 to get my EVAC system fixed. I am like, WHAT?!?!?!? Yes. Close to $1,000 worth of work just to pass the Emissions Test. That particular car of mine, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe, is not even WORTH $1,000 as an entire vehicle.I refused to pay that amount, and took my car to Velasquez Mufflers & Brakes, and they fixed my car FOR FREE!!!! Yes, believe it or not, they fixed it FOR FREE. The mechanic at Velasquez said that there was nothing significantly wrong with my EVAC, and that just one of the vacuum hoses was unplugged.I used to hold Mike Anderson in high regard, but after this attempt to essentially RIP ME OFF ... it is doubtful I will ever visit their service department again. I took my car in yesterday for a second Emissions Test, and this time, my car PASSED!!!I am now a new fan of Velasquez Mufflers & Brakes.

Should you care for the work they did I had a radiator replaced they didnt secure it in place and didnt tighten all the hose clamps

Would not go here I went here twice cause it was convenient I spent over 2,000 on one of my cars but when I left I couldnt auto start my car anymore and I took it back they refused to look at it they just made excuses on why they had nothing to do with it. I went back for something simple as breaks brand new you have to push all the way down to stop and it makes a rattling noise when you go over a bump in the back wheel I took it back and again they refused to look at it... would not suggest going here they are not cheap and for the price I pay for everything they should not have a problem fixing anything

I will never go back because I had an aftermarket exhaust put on so I drove for a day but the exhaust was loud and it rattled so I took my car to King brake and muffler and he put on the lift and showed me where all the places the velasquez tek did not place welds ans also showed me where he mounted the exhaust tip to the car thats why it rattled the velesquez tek clearly didnt know what he was doing so I had to pay an xtra 80$ for another shop to fix it
