The place is a hidden gem! So cool and unique, also there is delicious food. I got a bowl with pulled chicken and stuff and a fresh squeezed juice there. Everything was great. We came back for burgers the other day, still didn’t disappoint.

This pains me to write because I LOVE Big Kahunas (and I know their food is fantastic) but the portion size of tonight’s meal was incredibly disappointing. And I’m not sitting here expecting America’s idea of a portion size, but enough food to make spending $50+ worth it (including a $5 dollar tip for staff) on two bowls and a side of kale. Every time I’ve gotten takeout from here, I’ve ordered these same two bowls and they always offer plenty of food every time (to the point where you could save some for the next day). And the food always tastes amazing, but as you can see from the photos, I’m not sure what exactly I paid for since there is a thin layer of chicken, rice, and kale, and the separate side of kale barely fills one quarter of the container. I’m not sure if I can warrant another trip here for the money, even though Big Kahunas is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. I’m debating on whether I’d like to return just because the taste is so incredible and the people here are so great.I hope the consistency in portion size can be maintained for everyone else :-(

I love the chill atmosphere, plant based options and the cool vibe. My only quip is the vegan chocolate cake is so delicious but it’s like $4.50 for a small slice. I do love all the flavors though and friendly staff!

Big Kahunas is a very unique restaurant for the area. It’s all natural and organic ingredients for burgers and wraps. The food taste good but it comes at a steep price. The menu is also very interesting. Plantains instead of fries and a sort of bean dip with some of the meals. The seating area is surprisingly big but the space isn’t utilized well. It’s a great hipster spot for the area but I am not rushing back.

If youre looking for a delicious, vegetarian/vegan friendly, and fun place to eat, this is it! I love everything about Big Kahunas. With the tropical atmosphere, the very friendly and accommodating staff, and the wide variety of delicious menu options and baked goods, - the majority of which are offered with vegetarian/vegan substitutes - this place is incredible! They have breakfast and lunch items ranging from smoothies, burritos, tacos, salads, wraps, bowls, burgers - the list goes on! Most recently I got the Point Break tacos, and the pineapple salsa combined with the seasoned tofu was SO yummy. I highly recommend Big Kahunas!

SO GOOD!! The staff here are friendly and extremely helpful. I often place large orders for myself and coworkers and its always correct and fast. The food is clean and delicious, my favorite item is definitely the pineapple BLT. Im very happy to have this place in town and will continue to order!

Tried for the first time today. Brisket had great flavor and the right balance of fat and meat. Grilled veggies were quite good too and the Maui BBQ sauce was decent. But man, the smashers were a smashing disappointment. On the phone I was told these were flattened seasoned potatoes. Instead, I received hard potatoes that clearly hadnt been cooked all the way through and evidently the cook knew this because they didnt even try to flatten them. Maybe just avoid the smashers as a side, but hard to recommend

So disappointed in the Burger Bowl. A year ago it was delicious. Not so much anymore. The flavor of the burger was off, we got half the amount of salad greens and were charged about $17 for each meal.The burger at Stark Brewing Co in Manchester is so much better.

It was like restaurant utopia - great food with a business that values local organic ingredients and suppliers, community outreach and sustainability. The kahuna burger was really really really good. We were in Merrimack for a one time thing but my son said hes going to make us come back anytime we are anywhere near the area :)

Had a great lunch on the porch. Brisket was very good and the roasted veggies and smoked black beans were exceptional.

Brisket was so tender I cut it with a plastic fork. Cornbread is sweet and not dry like most! The Spicy Caribbean BBQ sauce made my eyes water. I’m personally not a fan of the blackened style of potato, so next time I’ll get a different side.

Was planing to take my family here it sounded cool and i liked the idea of the place described but the owner has commented rudely back to every poor review. That shows me how i will be treated if i have a poor experience, im all set.

So delicious. Great vegan options. Plantains are done sooooo well. And even you dont love kale, youll love this kale. The vegan chipotle aioli is friggin amazing.And the vibe just melts away all your worries. We could benefit from more beautiful businesses like this in our communities, radiating with care and welcome.

Heard a lot of hype about this place so decided to check it out. The Detox juice I got was really good but very expensive compared to other places. The Baja shrimp tacos I got from here are probably the only food I’ve had to spit out of my mouth because it was so poorly prepared. Do not get shrimp from this place. Very disappointed by Big Kahuna.

Really disappointed. I thought this place looked interesting and I finally had the chance to order for lunch. Got the Hawaii 5-0 salad and barely ate 1/3 of it.1/4 lettuce, 3/4 meat.The soy sauce was stored inside the box and came open. Not sure why they dont do what every other restaurant does and bag the sauce separately.... but the meat seems like it would have been pretty good without this issue. Unfortunately, the special bbq soy sauce is really just soy sauce.Lastly, I decided to read some reviews since I had this experience and when I saw their reply to a customers concerns about covid protocols, where the owner claimed the review was a witch hunt, I wished I had seen that before ordering. Wont be back. That reply was unprofessional and reeked of narcissism. I dont want to deal with that kind of asinine attitude as a customer.Thats a bold strategy cotton, lets see how it plays out for them.

The wife and I were near by and heard some randon live music. We were hungry so we wandered in. Weve never been here before and didnt know what to expect. We got the hot and steamy in a wrap. It exceeded all expectations. It was a slighty spicy steak bomb. Very large portions. We also got the oasis smoothy. It was amazing. Excellent atmosphere and service. Will definitely be back.

I ordered the haddock tacos, they were actually really good, but I’ll admit there was way too much mayo on top so I had to take all the toppings off to eat it. I’m not against mayo but you definetly don’t need much at all.There was definetly more than 5 tablespoons worth of it on three tacos! Not hating, just honesty. Probably just need a smaller nozzle on the bottle haha and you guys are good. I appreciate the organic options as there are only few places around that offer organic so A for effort.

The place looks cool and has a cool vibe but unfortunately the food has been pretty bad the last few times. I paid $15 for a thai beef bowl and couldnt even chew the meat it was so rubbery. I think you pay for the atmosphere and its not really worth it to be honest.

Possible the best breakfast sandwich Ive ever had. The handmade bagels and quality ingredients make their breakfast well worth the higher price. Limited hours and higher prices are the main downside.

Our daughter heard about this place and asked us to join her for lunch, a great find. I dont eat enough kale but if I could eat here every day I would. I had the HOT N’ STEAMY STEAK AND CHEESE, Amanda suggested I have as a bowl instead of the wrap and she was right; really enjoyed it. Of course I had to sample my wifes Burger Bowl and my daughters Cali Chicken, all excellent farm to table taste treats. Even the French Roast coffee was great + service with a smile. This is the kind of place we need more of. Hope 2017 is a great year for the Big Kahuna! Only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is to encourage innovation but not sure what else they could do to improve.

Covid protocols were horrible! Not a single employee was wearing a mask, (one women had a bandana, but it was pulled down her chin the entire time I was eating) and masks were not required within the building when not eating (there were no signs that stated a mask was required). I didn’t feel completely comfortable eating food that was prepared by employees not following safety guidelines. Not the mention the food was mediocre. I was severely disappointed. The only good measure were 2-3 small tables outside that I sat in, but other than that I was not impressed. Safety and well-being of customers should be the number one priority within the business industry during this pandemic.

Everyone stop what youre doing and read this post! This food is phenomenal! Like lick your fingers and the plate it came on good! You can taste how fresh and healthy everything is. You cant go wrong with anything you pick on the menu! This place is absolutely amazing!!

My partner and I put in a phone order and when going to pick it up we were blindsided by the fact that none of the employees were wearing masks. This is an establishment I was always excited to visit pre-pandemic and the fact that they are going out of their way to disregard public safety ordinances is extremely dangerous. As an immune compromised person I felt alienated and disregarded as they clearly arent prioritizing not only the safety of the general public, but an entire at risk community.After making the realization that not only the cashier, but the staff in the kitchen were not wearing face coverings, my partner and I swiftly made the decision to leave without our food.I really hope that theyll reconsider their choices and make the right moves to protect not only their customer base, but their staff. As a business that highlights health and wellness I honestly expected more.

The atmosphere in very laid back and a cool place to get a bite.The staff are incredible, I thought lost my credit card and the women working was going to to comp my meal until I could pay back. “ no one goes hungry at Kahunas” ! Good vegetarian dishes, drinks and a very friendly staff

Fresh food, the staff was nice and there atmosphere was relaxed. Casual dining with interesting menu. I had smoked tofu and sauteed plantain tacos and a single baha shrimp taco. Ther plantain needed a little sauce but was interesting combination and the shrimp taco was delicious as is.

I had some of the best tacos Ive ever had here, and I eat a lot of tacos. I also had a sweet item called a Monkey Bite, which was full of chocolate and nuts and goodness. Friendly, warm service. Welcoming atmosphere. Get over there and check it out! You wont regret it.

Still one of my favorite restaurants in New Hampshire. Every time I pass through that area I make it a point to stop there. When I lived in New Hampshire a few years ago I would go to this place at least once or twice a week. Always great food and great staff, no complaints.

Delicious feel-good food. Vegan options are plentiful. Everything is well-flavored and fresh. Got the “that wrap” and it was divine. I will definitely be back to try out other menu items. Everyone in my group was satisfied (even the meat eaters). The wraps are quite hefty and filling, though I agree the pricing needs work. Service was okay. Would recommend this place to any vegans in the area.

Always great fun and tasty food. Very kid friendly. Played musical instruments with my 2 year old granddaughter. Such a relaxing place with great service.

We had the opportunity to hire Big Kahunas for a party, our guests and we were blown away by the complete professionalism, dedication to the entire event and personal touches they included into the table spread of culinary delights they provided for this party. Everything was cooked to perfection, and served with genuine happiness, their clean up efforts left us with little to do after they departed, except enjoy the remainder of the thoughtfully plated remnants of the items we selected from their easy to navigate website. I look forward to the chance to hire them again in the future as I know it will be an incredible day with Big Kahunas team catering the event!

Has to be one of the best restaurants that I have been to in awhile. Love the layout of the place and the decor. Food is top notch and have vegan options which is awesome. Hung out there for an open mic night and it was spectacular. I recommend this place to everyone.

Had the Cocoa Loco smoothie and it was wonderful. Tasty, filling, perfect drinkable consistency, and just enough flavor from each ingredient. The staff are cheerful and welcoming and have a pleasantly professional appearance. And the cafe atmosphere is super cozy. Looking forward to returning!

Big Kahunas catered our wedding they were amazing in all respects from the food to the customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone that has a wedding or needs catering at an event. We did the pig roast, it was exceptional!

Had a nice dinner here with the wife and son. I try to eat healthy with him and this place sounded perfect. I ordered the Cali chicken bowl which was a little pricey but turned out to be decently sized with lots of nice chunks of chicken that was flavored perfectly. Staff was very friendly and welcoming and willing to provide advice on ordering. Very refreshing when most places almost seem annoyed when I try to give then business. Ill be back

Our visit started by glancing at the decor and hearing the loud music coming from the dining room, both matching the restaurants overall island theme. We came in on a weekday at 2, so there were no other patrons in the restaurant. The cashier greeted us from behind the counter and gave us the rundown on the menu and how ordered worked (since I mentioned we had never been there before,) and she was very nice and upbeat. Soon we ordered, and that is where the problems began.Something odd is they charge you for both the food and the tip before you receive the food. Next we were the only ones in the diner, yet there was an oddly long wait for just a burger and a scrambled egg platter. The food finally came out after the odd long wait, and that is where the biggest problem with my visit is located.I will only be describing my meal in this review, as it is what I remember most vividly during this experience. I ordered the Kahuna Burger well done (had everything it came with) and grabbed it to prepare for my first bite. The bun for the burger was cold, and most of the pineapples (that were not grilled unlike what the menu says) fell out of it. I then took my first bite, and was immediately disappointed. The burger was overcooked, partially charred on the outside, the bun as you got further into the burger fell apart, and the lettuce was very wet.After finishing our meal we left without another word. I would not recommend this restaurant, and will not be coming back.

From the beginning, Amanda and her team were extremely helpful answering all our questions and helping us nail down all the details leading up to the party. They arrived right on time and were very organized the day of the party. The food was incredible! We had a bbq menu that even covered vegetarians and all our guests kept commenting on how amazing it was. While the food was delicious, the best part was the staff because they were extremely professional and genuinely seemed happy to be there. We had such a great time, made much easier by choosing Kahunas as our caterer. If you want friendly, professional service with amazingly delicious food for your next event, choose Big Kahunas!

Great people, great food

I have been a customer of kahunas since they opened in this space in Merrimack several years ago. I’m not in the area as often as I used to be try to visit and support it when I can. Things are not as great as they used to be, the hours are changing constantly and as an infrequent visitor these days it makes it very problematic to come on a sat am when they used to be open to find the doors locked.We’ll see about the food consistency, but the customer service is at best indifferent and that is a huge departure from when they first opened. I’ve watched 6 different customers get declined at the door due to it not being open yet on a Saturday until 11a. That’s makes it very challenging to compete with newcomers to the market right down the street.Time to get back to the things that made you successful in the first place Kahunas.

Fantastic and diverse menu: great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food is a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. I go here every weekend for breakfast for a reason, and I love trying out new things still.

The most phenomenal place. Walking in, you feel like family and it settles my heart to know that there is love and intent put into every single meal. Have been going since they opened and Ive yet to try anything of theirs I did not thoroughly enjoy, including their sugary globs of goodness they roll out on occasion. This place is awesome in terms of ambiance and food quality. Staff is really friendly and informative. One suggestion I would make is to become more systematic. I order the same smoothie and it tastes completely different every time, ranging from absolutely orgasmic to undrinkable due to way too much cacao, depending on who made it.*update* upon next visit, the owner mentioned hed seen my review, recognized it was me and went above and beyond and served me a free smoothie. This place is quite choice.A visit will make your day exponentially more enjoyable.

Awesome vibe, chill atmosphere, great place to bring the family, or hang with some friends. No loud music or TVs, just great food, and great local beverages. They really focus on the healthy and organic, so it was a great experience. Ill be back frequently

Ive been passing this place for a very long time... Mostly because the only time Im usually in the area is on the weekend... Finally had the opportunity to try it and Im glad I did! Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. And so far from what Ive tasted, the food is really good! I dont have food allergies, however they do have tons of options available for those whom do.

Great food and live music was great! As newcomers, my husband and I were not aware there was no tabe service. There were no signs or instructions. I know a couple that came in later left because they didnt get service. Its confusing when you see staff coming up to people asking if they need anything, and youre sitting there not knowing whats going on. Not sure why theres no table service, especially having live entertainment, seemed to be enough staff.

(Im being nice when I only say)Spectacular at first, glamorous at a glimpse. Nice idea to be hath. But regular visits yield inconsistencies to service, quality, price, portion, flavors, cleanliness, and (the worst) wait time. Bad experiences built on each other over time has turned me off. I now see the lack of love and interest, by the dirty entrance rugs, by the insincere service, by the confusing awning storefront signs, and much more examples. This place is going down hill. And a few of my friends have taken a hefty time away as well.

Kahunas is a must: paleo, vegan, gluten free options - a little something for everyone... They have the best organic smoothies made fresh, dairy-free with no chemicals. Everyone that eats at Kahunas raves about their burgers, all my girlfriends in Cali love the Kahuna vibe. And yoga on Fridays, awesomeness. Love you Kahunas!

Great service, was given extra care when I asked for a sauce to enliven my my wrap. Food was good.

We had them cater our daughters wedding and the food was incredible. The appetizers were very unusual and everyone raved about themThe buffet was well presented and each dish explained.Amanda was very helpful along the way with the planning and all the servers were very gracious and fun at the event.I would definitely use them again if the need arise.

We had the Kahuna Burger, Cali wrap, Cabo and veggie burger today with my girlfriends and it was awesome! These guys accommodate meat eaters, vegans and everything in between. If you want a wonderful meal, fun environment and your group to be taken care of, Kahunas is your place.

I was bringing a car to be detailed and was looking somewhere to wait, get some schoolwork done and have a great cup of coffee. I arrived at The BIG KAHUNAS in Merrimack NH just a minute walk where I was getting my car done. The Kitchen manager Lisa let me in an hour early before opening, gave me a cup of coffee and the best hospitality I have ever seen. I have never been to such a place with open arms, I felt like I was truly home or if they have known me for years. This place has so much for everyone, best coffee by far but so much more. They have vegetarian, gluten free, and vegan options and fresh meat daily! I had their homemade blueberry muffins and they were mouthwatering! I tried their Cocoa Loco smoothie with coconut milk, peanut butter, banana, and coco powder and wow what a burst of flavor. The peanut butter taste is not over powering because it has the perfect combination of coco and banana with the creamy coconut milk.They have comedy nights on Thursday, yoga on Friday mornings and Saturdays (the day I stumbled in) have brunch specials and live music starting at 12 noon. Complimentary water, seating areas to play games, beer (ipa, local) and wine options too! I live about 35 mins away and I will drive out of my way to come here again and again! Thank you to the wonderful staff for showing me such lively, loving spirits and I cannot wait to bring my love ones here to enjoy this experience such as I did.
