I have had good & bad experiences with Calico. Workmanship is always excellent. Filling for seat cushions have been poor in the past & dont last long. Others have been great. Ladies waiting on you are top notch. Great selection of fabric. Also can be very expensive. But I go back.
They have simplified the store and no longer have a nice choice of fabric. A lot of empty room. They do not have sample fabric books . I was disappointed in the low amount of fabrics.
I consider it a treat to go to Calico Corners. I adore the atmosphere and fabric. If you want quality there is no equal. It’s expensive....but that’s part of the charm. There will always be discount and online fabric stores to get deals from. I must say that most of the complaints have been about upholstery and drapery work room problems.I don’t use Calico Corners for their workrooms. I use them for fabric. Honestly, it is always better to find someone who only is a workroom. Then you miss the middle man up charges.
If the owner is the woman I had a run-in with, DO NOT visit this store. The woman I dealt with was more than impolite, using the f-word every other word. At one point I was even told that I should go to a homeless shelter.
They were very friendly and helpful while I picked out my fabric, I would give them a 5 on that end. Or perhaps a 4 because the fabric I picked and got everything to match hadBeen discontinued. So why was it on display?However, they told me the reupholstering would take 4 months! So I have to find another place to do that. Then the drapes took 3 months. They promised to call when they came in and did not, then I had to wait a while to figure out I had to pick them up myself.The guy that would fix my rod would not install them, I did it myself, but I think 20 minutes of labor would go a long way towards public relations. Then the installer never called and they said they couldn’t give me hisNumber. When they finally did, they said don’t call him as he was busy. I begged him to come before a party, he told me he could but missed the appointment and I had to leave. I had told him before I could not be home in the pm. I feel they want your money, but don’t care about customer service.
I ordered my shades BEFORE Thanksgiving, VERY expensive shades might i add, I could have done shutters for $1400 less.. I just had them reinstalled last week. I could not get anyone out first to come and measure, then they were installed in February, only for me to come home and have the drapes be 1 to 3 inches to short. I had just put in brand new carpet and brand new furniture. The sun was coming through and hitting them. Not only were the shades too short, but they were breaking. So for the months when I was having parties at my house i had to live with a broken shade and I had to pin it with safety pins... yes that looked really nice, right!. AGAIN i had to wait to have someone come out and take them down. Everyone blamed the installer and the installer blamed the sewing department. I got to have all of the family parties and girlfriend parties NOT at my house because how bad they looked. I said through this whole painful process that you are going to compensate me right...and yes Mary Ann said. Well guess what the compensation was that was mentioned in a email $100.00 for all of inconvenience and mistakes and months of time. PATHETIC !! I still have never received this tiny credit.I will never use them again. Too long to get them to measure too long to get them installed. I do not recommend using them...buyer beware.When they finally did come out to replace them, I feel like i was totally inconvenienced this whole summer with black paper temporary blinds that would not stay up so it was SO DARK and depressing. MY BIGGEST FEAR is that they will break. and SHRINK again like they said they did..HORRIBLE experience! and I felt like no one really cared.
If you are going to purchase a lot service is good, but if not you are ignored.
