Long overdue review:Read about Duckworth Violins online, stopped in since my wife wanted learn to play fiddle. I play guitar, but was clueless where to begin. Mr. Duckworth led us to a great setup. Beautiful shop, personal and very knowledgeable service...its 2 yrs later and still a great instrument, and we want to go back soon and visit, maybe an instrument tune-up or upgrade.Incredible shop!

My story; Kids played in the high school orchestra, graduated and moved on - cello remained collecting dust. Recently decided, at the ripe young age of 67, to learn how to play the cello. Ordered books, rosin and electric tuning device then opened cello case to reveal bow with strings in disarray. Carried it to Mr. Duckworth who was very patient and informed me of the mites love for horsehair. Kindly offered some pointers on proper storing of bow then restrung at a very fair price in less than a week. I subsequently attempted to tune said cello on my own and snapped a string. Back to Mr. Duckworth who patiently introduced me to some amazing cello history while simultaneously restring and tuning the cello as I waited. Price was more than fair. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Sound businessman, a true gentleman and an amazing luthier.

The shop is comfortable and more important it has a friendly atmosphere..Duckworth, besides being a excellent craftsman and artist in repairing stringed instruments, he is a genuinely good person.

Mr. Duckworth is the most kind and patient person in the violin world. I HIGHLY recommend his services to everyone I know! I live in San Antonio and GLADLY drive up to his shop to work with just him on repairs and bridge work; you name it he CAN do it! Hes so wise and not only sells the instruments but also gives you an intimate knowledge of how it works which NOBODY else does. I cant even put into words how happy I am to have come across this lovely gentlemen of such skill; knowledge and people skills. Mr. Duckworth is truly amazing. We had such an great experience shopping at this store for both a Viola and an electric guitar for my teenage son. He was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. My teen had saved his money to purchase for himself and Mr. Duckworth answered every question, educated him and treated him with respect. We had a wonderful experience. They have our business forever.

I highly recommend! I was gifted an antique violin that needed to be restored. I took it here and was so impressed with how knowledgable and helpful they were. They restored the violin beautifully and now it plays better than my regular violin (its gorgeous!!!). I will continue to use them for all my string instrument needs.

I recently acquired a new violin that I couldnt tune because the pegs kept slipping as soon as I let them go after tightening them. I brought my violin to the Duckworth Violin Shop to either have the pegs fixed or to educate me on how to properly turn the pegs (I hadnt touched a violin in over 30 until now). It didnt take Mr. Duckworth more than 20 minutes to fix the issue with my pegs and I ended up learning a thing or two about my violin.I found Mr. Duckworth to be friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable and I recommend his shop to anyone needing help with a string instrument.

What can I add? This is so much more than just a beautiful violin shop. His knowledge and skill has been a blessing to my daughter. Mr. Duckworth has given wise invaluable advice, very well done repair/upgrades, and my daughter looks forward to stopping in so she can play a little something for him and show him her progress.Thank you! :o)

Mr. Duckworth is the real deal! I make the drive from Austin to his shop anytime I need word done. Hes an experienced violinist himself, so he knows what your instrument needs from a luthiers perspective as well as from a musicians perspective.

They re-strung my daughters violin perfectly. Very nice place to work with, we will be back for all our instrument needs.

I am in love with my cello all over again after bringing her to Mr. Duckworth. He fixed problems I didn’t even know she had, and she’s never sounded better in the five years we’ve been together. Reasonable, knowledgeable, friendly, old-time service, the kind you hardly ever find these days. Would give ten stars if I could.

I agree with the previous rater that Mr. Duckworth is an extremely honest and pleasant man--hes always trying to give us a deal well be happy with--and weve been customers for the last five years. His rental policy is awesome as well, a portion paid to rent the violin goes towards the price a future violin. He does repairs quickly and for the best price possible, I will NEVER go elsewhere!

As a professional fiddler, it is a must to have your instrument playing at top notch performance. When my luthier made custom violin was feeling the years of wear and tear, I took it to Bryan and he did the repairs quickly and expertly. Its been four gigs since I got it back and it plays and sounds wonderful.

I have never purchased anything here but as a musician I am often tempted to stop in and pluck around on one of the many beautiful instruments for sale. The folks who work here are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. If I do find myself with some extra money to spend it will very likely find its way here...
