Great bakery treats for Halloween and for football season. Friendly staff. A delicious tradition on Harrison Ave. that just keeps going despite pandemics, hurricanes or whatever.
The customer service was exceptional and the food was superb. The buttermilk drops reminded me of my childhood. Thanks for a great experience.
Drop in to get some old time Mckenzie pastries and a scramble eggs and cheese on a croissant. Yummy 😋
I purchased two McKenzie king cakes and this is not McKenzie recipe. Theres no cinnamon flavor anywhere. The icing tastes like play doh. The sugar falls ever where as soon as you cut it and bite into it. I had to pick the sugar just to have some when I ate. Highly disappointed.
OLD SCHOOL HERE. Please research the original buttermilk drop glazing. Tonight it was too soft. It is supposed to be flaky
Affordable, fresh donuts & breakfast items made from scratch. No pics = Delish!💜
Spooktacular Halloween cookies, perfect for parties! Donuts are delicious and moist with fun decorations especially for kids. But my favorite nostalgic treat at Tastee Restaurant on Harrison Ave is the banana coffee cake. Great memories and great taste.Cozy neighborhood restaurant and bakery. Easy parking. Great for takeout, too. Big Burger is huge. Also has sandwich and breakfast options kids will like. Yum!
The buttermilk drops are the best they make them fresh every day💯💯
Wonderful place. Food is great. Sweets just like McKenzie’s used to have. Fantastic King Cake & donuts! But best is all - the people!!!
Best place in this reality, the McKenzie products are spot on to the ones that used to be made years ago. I love this place, gotten me through many emergencies when I needed something quick to bring. The staff is also the best. 5 out of 5.
Great donuts and treats. They have all of the old McKenzies recipes and make several of their items. Butter milk drops are the bomb. King cakes are the old McKenzie style and flavor. Brownies and cinnamon rolls stre the old McKenzie recipe and great. Cant go wrong with anything from them.
Came in with my track team on a Saturday morning. They handled the bunch of us pretty well (and we were plenty hungry.) Friendly cashier. Donut holes were really good and pretty cheap. They had good seating in the back room for our small group. Parking lot filled up pretty easily though. Great breakfast stop overall!
The lady before me got the last banana nut coffee cake, make sure to call in your order ahead of time. The jelly rolls are spot on!
Great food and donuts
Yummy
Customer service was terrible. No eye contact and minimul communication. Very confusing.
Always good. Sometimes gets long lines but thats due to a busy shop with great treats. Good for New Orleans traditional specialties and some new favorites. Buttermilk Drops, old school brownies, eclairs, Blackout Cakes are as good as I when I was just a kid. The omeletts and egg, meat, and cheese biscuits are great and shouldnt be overlooked!
Ole time McKenzies cinnamon rolls
Besides having coffee and donuts they have hot breakfasts, hamburgers, po boys and salads.
I got a croissant breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! They have a huge variety of doughnuts and muffins
The breakfast plate that I had barely had any food on it it was less than a scoop of grits, there was more eggs than anything and the bacon was so hard and it didn’t taste like bacon I also waited 30 minutes for the breakfast plate AFTER I ORDERED IT 15 mins prior! I am terribly under satisfied and will never ever return . I had to combine two breakfast plates into one to give to a person because it was not enough to feed one adult. Completely ruined my morning . I spent $22 onto breakfast plate and four Donuts and had to combine both breakfast place to feed one person a male. I will never return. The female cashier was not nice at all, she look like she hated her job and every second of being there .
Great traditional bakery items and nice people. Highly recommended.
Weak castle burgers. 2 or 3 tiny pieces of onion on them. Cant taste it at all
Best burger in town! Big burger, sweet (square) bun, cheese! Worth the wait.
Nice atmosphere but the woman at the counter was a real Debbie Downer. Everything she said was negative. Its was like she didnt want to work there and definitely didnt like the owner even though she said they were friends. That was so weird. However the place was nice and the doughnuts were fresh. The chocolate eclair had too much frosting on top. That was a waste. Overall ok.
Donut shop and coffee. Great place to stop in the neighborhood. Take a dozen to go. All the usual kinds, fresh.
Great Donuts just like the old McKenzies hand tasty as well
Yesterday for Mardi Gras was my first time st this restaurant and the cashier was so unfriendly theres an older guy behind the counter just straight rude. This is a terrible look for New Orleans. When working with customers at least a smile will show some hospitality i do not recommend this restaurant being a business owner with over 10k people followings on social media I will make sure they know how this place is. My friend was from out of town and needed king cakes we had to drive to the Kenner location due to the bad customer service. So sad. I’m very insulted and embarrassed
Yum! Buttermilk drops.
The burgers are delicious and the restaurant is very comfortable and clean! The owners are the best and always make you feel welcome!
Sweetest people you can meet every thing is made with love
Nobody threatened me, I guess it was ok.
Adrian makes great burgers,great restaurant
I went in there with my little girl (and they were very nice and friendly)!Veronica was very welcoming (as well as her co-worker)!The king cake was delicious and fresh (and so were the doughnuts)!!Thank you, Tastees:)
The Petit fours... Lawd hammercy the Petit fours. Just delightful. No pic because I devoured them.
Best buttermilk drops Ive ever had!!! The breakfast sandwiches are well priced and very tasty!!!
Delicious food..a lot..low cost!
Love those buttetmilk drops.
Went in Mardi Gras morning rudest staff at least the two at the counter the owner had to come out and provide a lil NOLA hospitality to say it was Fat Tuesday 👎
OMG I could set up a bed and live in here just for all the original McKenzies stuff.
Family friendly. Goods baked fresh daily.
Always have issues getting served properly and timely at this location.I have been left to wait, recieved over one dozen donuts thrown in a bag, over looked in line...Pitiful!Guess my money isnt good enough!
The staff are very nice and they have decent food and decor. It was hard to see the prices for items though and the service wasnt too fast but was reasonable.
Stopped here to get some McKenzies Buttermilk Drop Donuts. They were good, but not as good as I remember.
If your looking to deal with an attitude problem go here!Sincerely- a non returning customer!!
Ok so Im a sucker for Buttermilk Drops and my kids love some of the other doughnuts but that old lady working the register is such a crab its comical.
Adequate parking, great and friendly customer service, delicious and fresh pastries
I dont usually go to this one because the place always looks so disgusting, tables are never wiped down, the OLD ladies that work there are so rude. I will give them this, the owner is a VERY nice man! This was an occassion that my daughter was hungry so i judt brought her there. We got our food and ate. We went to the bahroom to wash our hands and the soap was empty. So i brought it up to the counter and told her it was empty and if she could please refill it. Of course she looked at me like i was stupid, and said we dont have any. I was dumbfounded. So then i wondered how long its been out and then I asked her, so you handled my food with dirty hands? They open at 6am and this was at 10:30a and I know this lady smokes, so I KNOW she has had a cigarette since 6am, they sit in the front of the building by the front door where everyone has to pass. So needless to say she ignored me. I will NEVER EVER go back there. Im sorry that is disgusting. I know you never know if someone really washes there hands before handling food, and thats the risk you take eating out, but for her to basically tell me they havent washed thre hands for those 4 hours is just nasty. I know the owner would disapproved, hopefully i will get the chance to let him know! I just wanted to let the ones know that care about personal hygiene.
The cashier was extremely rude. won’t be coming back here again!
King cake and great customer service!👍
Staff is horrible. Very rude. Hopefully they go out of business and another donut place opens in their spot.
Very nice it reminds me of day past
Delicious King cake
The service was horrible, the cashier was so rude and rolling her eyes seemed to be her thing, hardly any pasteries, doesnt matter what time of day you go, you should have good service and stocked pasteries, other than the horrible service the buttermilk drops and turtles were good
Great donuts!!! Delicious food!!! Delightful people!!! Highly recommended!!!!!!!
Buttermilk drops da bomb
Good beignets!!
Real good
Please tell your cashier to stop shaming people for ordering food. Its ridiculous how up in arms she gets whenever someone orders either an item from the kitchen or a dozen donuts. Ive witnessed too much of this in the past towards other customers and this morning I caught it from her.
Great selection! Very Taster!
Awful this old lady how should be home complained that I asked for disposable silverware she should be home retired with her nasty attitude. NEVER WILL I GO BACK
Helpful staff!!!
Closest thing to the old McKenzies buttermilk drops. Also serves sliders similar to White Castle.
McKenzie cinnamon rolls!
Good food but bad service
Gone here three times. Slow service. Over 30 minutes wait for your food
Pretty good food
Love the different donuts
