Cute little retail store with fun artsy things. Clothing, decor, nick nacks, adorable little gifts. I got my mother a beautfiul little vase with a quote on it.

A favorite gift shop with all sorts of fun, kitchy items. The owner is lovely and I always love saying hi.

I live in Newport, and find this shop full of fun quirky items. Great for surprise unique little gifts (especially stocking stuffers). The browsing is worth every minute too! Im sorry that comments of Trump supporters take offense at some of the things there (tho Im afraid those types of items are far more in your face in England+). This is a little shop which will always have a tiny selection of politically comical things on its shelves because it holds the unexpected. Thats why its called Pleasant Surprise(s). I love it! Loads of fun-shopping - and especially great for little purchases, including cards. Taking offense at a very very tiny selection of its items for sale seems silly to me. Theres so much in there to enjoy!

A must for anyone visiting Newport. Lots of fun books, shirts, and oddities that will have you laughing. This is my favorite store when I am in town and I highly recommend it!

A fun place for unique gifts. When in Newport, you must stop into this store. They also have 3 other locations; two of which we visited. Those were more nautical themed. Service is excellent. Prices reasonable.

I LOVE this store. The owners are wonderful! I am usually in there laughing out loud. I never leave empty handed there is always something for the individuals I am buying for. (or me).

Dont waste your time. Its all Trump hating merchandise. I love a good joke, but the hate in there is real.. the dude just has a weird obsession with Trump.

This shop should be shut down. We stopped in this past weekend and walked right back out and took our business elsewhere. I hope the owner(s) go out of business.The President Trump bashing products are disgusting and disrespectful. I wonder if they had the same products for Obama. An obtuse owner with no sense for business.

Was shocked the way I was treated. I had a Trump hat on and was promptly throw out and called a racist pig. Funny, the people who call you intolerant and a racist act like it every chance they get.

So my friend here at work takes her sister, 86 yr old father, 81 yr old mother downtown to shop, they are from PA, came up for grandsons grad, went into Pleasant Surprise (in Newport, RI) and noticed aloud all the Trump bashing merchandise. They wondered where the Hillary bashing stuff was, owner overheard them and proceeded to call Trump a fn a-hole and shouted them out of the store. He was so loud that people on the street were wondering what was happening. Every time they tried to say something he got louder and wouldnt stop screaming get ouuuuuuuuuut! He threatened to have them arrested. Nice huh? Her father is a veteran and they were all in shock.

This is the place for gifts in Newport! Every time I need to shop for a birthday or for stocking stuffers at Christmas, I drive 2 hours to NEWPORT to shop at this store! Try it and you will too!
