I’m reviewing on the freshly made food counter.We went on a Sunday afternoon and got five things: Greek Isle wrap, the Vermonter, a Dustin’s Magic smoothie, an almond Danish-like pastry, and another pastry I forget.All were very good. Had to wait a bit for the wrap and panini, but it was worth it.If you want water to drink, prepare to pay $0.50 for a pretty small cup.The sitting area was nice but could certainly use a paint job.If we were in the area, we would frequent thanks to their commitment to freshness and good ingredients.

Very tasty breakfast burrito, done panini style.Lots of good looking baked goods also. Nice comfortable atmosphere.

A great local market with natural and organic foods.They have a great cafe, and a great selection of all sorts of products that you can’t find in other local grocery stores.They have a great bulk bin section, and a great selection of wines, beers, ciders, and hard kombucha.

Was looking forward to breakfast here after 20 morning miles while on bike tour. It did not disappoint. We were also able to pick up groceries we needed and keep rolling.

Went there at 11 am this morning to get breakfast. Walked inside and no one was there, not a customer or employee. I waited about 5 minutes and had to leave. It seemed like a nice setting as far as ambiance goes though.

Went into this store this morning. Picked a few items out. I then tried to order something from the cafe. All three employees avoided eye contact with me and two did not respond when I tried to say hello. I decided to just buy my other items and leave. The sign in the front said I needed to cash out in the cafe. What a joke. Left my items and wasted 20 minutes of my time. I would highly recommend avoiding this establishment. Hands down the most disappointing customer service experience in the last few years. Another reason to not shop local and just order stuff online. At least I have a terrible customer service story to share when I need small talk with strangers!

Their Cafe is amazing for lunch. Soups and sammiches are great.By the way, the chili they have available hot everyday, they claim it is award-winning.....I cant confirm this award status, but I must admit it is the best chili Ive ever had.

After spending time in Newport every summer since 2014 at the Kingdom Swims, I stopped by here for a post swim sandwich and snacks for the first time! This shop is lovely- sandwich was amazing, service providers attentive, mask wearing and cleaning constantly. Large variety of GF food available at the sandwich counter as well. Will definitely be back- if I lived locally I’d definitely shop here as prices seem very fair! huge bulk section downstairs. Recommend!

Great local spot that is basically a store split in two. On one side is a market with fresh and local foods in addition to the usual stuff you can get in a grocery store. They have a unique selection of meats, cheeses, vegetables, local beers, etc. The other side is a cafe with a nice salad bar and made to order hot foods and coffee. Nice spot right in downtown Newport!

It was super and the atmosphere was fabulous with quite conversations. Loved it very much.

The people are friendly, knowledge, and very professional. The store always has some items in stock. The store and Cafe have an extremely chill vibe. I recommend anyone to go and check it out. Its a fantastic atmosphere, and I love it.

The store is nice for what it is. The cafe is overpriced, cappucino and breakfast burrito were cold. Probably wont go back myself but im sure some people could have a different experience

Great tasting food. Portions are big. Drinks are good. Prices are reasonably priced. Staff is very courteous. Tough part is finding a good parking spot.

This is one of the highlights of Vermont for me! I am fond of Whole Foods, and this is like that but even more personal. The chocolate cake and carrot cake, the turkey and apricot meatloaf the professional and friendly staff, all super. You can get good organics here. good local food and products, highly recommended. The art is a plus as well.

Every time I put in my work address on Rte. 16 in Barton, vt. and a address in Greensboro vt. Also off of Rte. 16, It will send me in the wrong direction to make a loop past the fairgrounds then send me in the correct direction. This adds 1.5 miles to the calculations.

Stopped in for coffee, and ended up buying a few snacks and groceries for lunch. Delicious foods available, and very helpful, friendly staff. Great coffee, and because we brought our own travel mugs, only 92 cents each!

Cool little store and a nice small restaurant attached. Good food. Warm meals and sandwiches available. Well worth it.

An excellent find while traveling, especially for vegetarians! The homemade soup, tasty sandwiches, and products available for sale made our stay in this area very comfortable. We often have much difficulty finding veg food on the road ---- thank goodness for this market and cafe!

Favorite cafe in this county. Recommending the Vermonter and the Main Streeter. Great place to do laptop work, meet with friends, or (on occasion) enjoy live music. Humanely raised, vegetarian, and vegan options available. This new kid just started working there whos super nice.

We have traveled around Vermont and New England and we are always glad to come back home, because there is no place like this anywhere. Other Co-ops often have a small cafe with a few healthy items that are hit-or-miss. Montgomerys Cafe is all hits and no misses.The salad bar is innovative and fresh. The food on the Hot Bar is accurately described as cuisine since the menu items are chosen and prepared by chefs. The Sandwiches are great but I rarely get to order one since some soup, hot dish, and of course, salad, always seems to catch my eye.I will list a few menu items to consider: The world-famous local beefalo chili, the to-die-for turkey-apricot meatloaf (on Thursdays!), the various vegetarian Tempeh options (usually with an Asian flavor), the turkey salad and curried chicken salad on the salad bar, any of the hearty soups, the many gluten-free options, the quiche!, the breakfast burrito, I could go on...The food store section is very nice with lots of healthy options. The basement section recently opened with great bulk items and a wine cellar. The local Vermont cheeses (stocked near the produce section) are incredible.Every Christmas someone gets me a gift certificate to Newport Natural and I use it in the store or the cafe or both. It is my favorite present every year.

Had lunch there last week. The kimchee and cheddar sandwich was quite good as was the roast turkey. We shopped after and found Barbara’s Jalapeño Cheese Puffs and really good coffee beans. The whole vibe was 70s food coop which brought back fond memories!

Sprawling market, deli, buffet offering a little bit of everything under one roof. We shared a delicious panini and a couple of San Pelligrino sodas, then browsed the market selection of locally sourced groceries, snacks, wines, beers, and ciders. Impressive selection. Friendly service.

This place had exactly what I was looking for plus what I didnt know I was looking for. Great treats and general groceries locally sourced and non GMOs. I came in to get some jojoba oil and left with some all white meat chicken nuggets and some tasty ranch style corn and quinoa chips too. Both were great. I also found some caramel filled dark chocolate also non GMOs and it was amazing! Always a great visit. People are always helpful and very kind.

This is the place that has the best food in the area. Its food made by people that care about food. You can taste that the moment you bite in.

I think they have almost everything for mind body and soul. And there cafe food is amazing. Paninis arethe best Ive ever tasted! Vermonter and the Mainstreeter!

We were the only mid afternoon patrons so service was excellent and the sandwichs were excellent. The next time I go to the Pick and Shovel I will come error for lunch again. It is over an hour drive from my house.

Excellent selection of organic goods and the best bulk herbs and spices anywhere. We have a place at Jay and when we go up I make sure to inventory my Massachusetts pantry to see if theres anything I need from this place.

ThIs natural food shop and cafe is bastion of natural food stuff. It’s a wonderful resource for the town. The employees always friendly and warm. The cafe sandwiches, paninis etc, are really delicious. Fresh high quality bread and ingredients. Dine in the casual hippish cafe And grab some organic groceries on the way out!

I like this place but the quality of the hot bar is slipping bad. Meat is very tough, sauses have no flavor. Half the time the food is left to dry out and the rolls have been stale every time I went in recently. Please put more effort into the hot bar or just take it out.
