I just wanted to take a minute and say thanks very much to Josh @ mavis in newton ma. I had a flat tire on Sunday the 19 and couldnt get it repaired by anyone including 2 other Mavis shops. I didnt feel comfortable driving back to NJ on the spare so I made a last ditch effort to call the Newton location. Josh said he was very busy but would help me out. Within a half hour I was back on the road. I NEVER write reviews but I felt this couldnt go unnoticed.Thanks again Josh - keep up the Good work ethic. truly appreciated

I’m writing for my dad Joe, who went in there 10/12/21. The five stars goes to the person who helped my dad, Jeff or Josh is who helped him…he can’t remember his name, sorry.But! My dad said this person dropped what they were doing and took care of him…who had to get a new tire after blowing it on the highway. He called the number and it went to a call center, unbeknownst to my dad.Upon arrival the gentleman (Jeff or Josh) at the store had no idea about it, but would take care of the issue. The man was extremely busy but dropped what he was doing to take care of him. In store manager (Jeff or Josh) gets 5 stars, corporate call center gets 0 stars.

Words can not describe the outstanding service I received from Joshua when I went to the Mavis Tires & Service store on Needham Street in Newton. Joshua went out of his way to take good care of me as I really appreciated it. The company is lucky to have him as he has won me over as a new customer. Mavis should be proud to have him representing them.

Received excellent service after roadside damage to the tire. No receipt no problem the tech handled the warranty claim saving me time and lots of money.

I had a flat tire. They could have sold me a new tire. I wouldnt have known the difference. But, instead they found a small nail and repaired the leak.I like their ethics, and recommend them highly.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. A few months ago I came to get my oil changed. They said they did it and I was on my way. Immediately after my check engine light was on. Weird, so I took it into the shop.They said they fixed the issue, but when I got back into my car, the light turned on again. “Sorry, our main mechanic is out today so you have to wait until tomorrow”. Okay, fine.As I’m driving on the highway, my entire engine burst into smoke. The whole engine was toast. My car was in good shape before they touched it for the oil change. But here’s the best part:After assessing damages for the engine, this place said not only will they NOT compensate damages, but “we don’t handle engines”. That’s great, you destroy my engine then can’t fix it. I had to pay $4000 to get it fixed at a much better place. Why did you agree to fix my check engine light if you don’t specialize in fixing engines?Even better, when I called the regional manager asking for them to pay for the engine they damaged, they said “We’re not responsible because my mechanic said whoever changed your oil didn’t end up changing it and they might have lied, so go to whoever did that” HE DIDNT KNOW THAT MAVIS WAS THE ONE THAT CHANGED MY OIL. Whatever they did, whether they even changed the oil or not, screwed up my engine.Thanks to this shop I had to pay >$4500 to fix the engine because they screwed up my car. If you want to save money, STAY AWAY FROM HERE

Got all 4 tires changed here a month ago and bought the Mavis All Season HT tires. The sidewall of passenger rear tire popped after a month. No nail, no cause, just popped. So I had to get that replaced. Came here to be told that the Mavis tires come with no warranty at all unless separately purchased. Other brands come with manufacturer warranty, but not their own store brand. My bad for buying their own store brand. Never coming back here again.

I have been getting my oil change at Mavis tire and battery. The mechanic are very knowledgeable and did a very good job. I didnt have to wait for a long time.

They did a number on my formerly clean interior with greasy hand prints, boot marks and a grimy headrest. Prices were low, but so was the quality of service. Would not recommend.

I’ve been to Mavis a few times in recent weeks for tires/alignment and battery. Prices very competitive if not better than most others I looked into. Plenty of waiting room inside and parking on both sides of building. But, most noticeable, courteous staff and expeditious service.

I was 100% satisfied with my service at Mavis in Needham. I appreciated Michael’s expert knowledge on tires and brakes. I compared prices and found their price to be the best. They severely damaged my wheels and are now refusing to replace them. Tire replacement didn’t happen because despite me asking several times in advance they didn’t have the tires on hand. Terrible customer service and dishonest people! Avoid this place unless you want problems.

I wanted to give it a few weeks before I gave a review. I got all 4 tires replaced after getting a flat tire. No issues with the tires so far, drives smooth! Miko was great, answered all my questions and had came in the same day. My car only took bout 1.5hrs. I will say I did notice my rims scratched more than they were before I got service here. I would suggest taking before and after pictures of your rims prior to service, so you can have actual proof.

Updated 4/23/2021I wanted to update my previous review. I had had a horrible experience the last time I went to Mavis four months ago. It left me with a car making lots of noises that it never did before. And the people there had not been at all helpful. After I reviewed it a representative from Mavis reached out to me to see if they could help.I called back Jefferson from Mavis after my previous two start review. He was very helpful and told me that the staff at the Mavis I had went to has been completely replaced. He understood about the problems that I had had previously, and the fact that I was still having lots of noises coming from the back of my car. He asked me to stop by that day and see the new manager, Tyson, so he could take a quick look at my car and see what might be the problem.I went by and explained about the two different noises I was hearing at this point, one a shaking metal sound, and another a metallic popping sound. Im glad to say they brought the car in and within 5 minutes they had already found the problem. The previous guys had not installed the shock in the back correctly and so it wasnt sitting in the right spot and kept popping. They fix that quickly.  Then while they were test driving it, be they heard the other noise. They took anothet look and found that one of the sway bars had not been tightened all the way. All in all took about 45 minutes and they fixed all the mistakes the previous group had made, the mistakes that the previous group said they had no idea what it was and I should go somewhere else to fix. These guys were really great and I appreciate all the work that they did as well as how friendly Tyson and his staff were. Since the people at the store have changed, I wanted to update my review.

Had 4 new tires added here so I bought the alignment in addition. Under 4 months later tire blows out on the highway and the other front one was about to. Way misaligned. Had to get 2 replaced again.

I had a slow leak in my right front tire. I brought it to Mavis on Needham St. in Newton, they took me immediately and my tire was fixed within an hour. The service man Jonathan was great. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Normally this place is the best, but not when you have workers not wearing a mask, eating chicken wings at the front lobby. I was on the highway when I noticed a thunking sound coming from my car. Pulled over and realized one of my tires was completely punctured and out of air.Tried calling a few nearby mechanics, but everyone was closed on Saturday. Mavis was open for just another hour, so I quickly scrambled to get my car over.I was expecting Id need to leave it over night, uber home, and be out of a car for the day. But they were kind enough to service my vehicle then and there without notice. The tire was replaced in less than half an hour and I was back on the road soon after I came in.Excellent work!

Earlier this year I had squeaky brakes so I took my car in, figuring I needed new pads. They told me the pads were fine but that the back drums and shoes were rusted and recommended replacing them, so I had them replaced. On the drive home, I heard a strange rhythmic noise when braking. I kept hearing the noise when braking, so I took my car back to have them look at it again- I had never heard the noise before they worked on my car, and heard it every time I drove after. The guys working up front were really nice, and they had the mechanic take a look, but he said nothing was wrong. After a few more weeks, I finally took my car to my dads mechanic, and he was able to immediately tell that one of the new brakes was installed wrong. He reinstalled it correctly and I havent heard the noise since. I certainly wont return to NTB (definitely not this one), and I would recommend to anyone to NOT have any brake work done here! Not only did they install my brakes incorrectly, they couldnt even tell that it was done wrong when I brought it back! So dangerous...

Was my to go place with all I wanted to do with my car. Now they do not accept previous MTB agreements. I love that. Go Chapter 11 and restructure and give no sugar about your previous customers. Such a nice way to enjoy a corporate life.

It took them 75 minutes to tell me the tire cannot be repaired though I had shown them where the puncture was. 75 minutes later they came to tell me they cannot repair outside a specific area.. They tried to sell me a different tire than original. I left.Waste of time

I just went today to get an oil change and tire rotation at the Newton location. I asked the guy at the counter how much is the total, he quoted me $39.99 for oil change, the tire rotation was free. When I went to pick up the car after it was done, the bill came out with $14 extra for labor. I have never heard of oil change with labor as extra charge. After I complained, then he took the $14 off. So just be careful with this place, check your bill for extra charges.

Dishonest people, I had a nail in my tire which was repaired at the needham street NTB, and as soon as I left I found a dents and scratches on the rim, which was done by there tire machine . They ignored my call for 10 days I decided to go back and see when they will perform the repair, but the so called “manager” ... refused to do any repairs and said it didn’t happened at there shop.As I mentioned dishonesty is there way of running there business. Disappointed.

AVOID at all costs!!!! I had secured an appointment 6 months ago during their official transition phase from NTB to mavis. Johnny the manager beyond unprofessional very argumentative on the phone and disrespectful. No value as I was an existing customer of over 10 years with an established NTB credit card. Run far away as possible tons of shady sherry red flags exist, clueless and unprofessional people who need deep training to retain customers. They THRIVE on responding please call 📞 hotline Press Option 2. Lies on TOP of lies since that does. I thing no one ever gets back. My car SAT 3 hours and had not moved after I made several complaints I took the car back in my possession. Nothing but mixed signals and worthless service. I’m praying they go bankrupt since they don’t deserve a Fraction of the foot traffic. Poor innocent people who get fooled and Tricked into their Deliberate BAIT & Switch tactics!! I Deeply regret coming here. Same goes for Dedham location bunch of young careless employees with no fate beyond ruining the customer experience. USE at your Own RISK!!!

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I made a reservation to have new tires installed about a week ago, and when I arrived today, they simply told me those tires werent available and that they could offer me a set that cost 50% more. When I asked how this happens, they said, all I can tell you is that we dont have the tires here. Dont ever use them.

This place has gone downhill FAST. poor management of staff, machines breaking, miscommunication, no follow up calls when you leave your car for work, opening of business thirty minutes late with no communication to customers with appointments. I don’t usually review but this is the pits.

Service was good. They gave me a time to get my battery checked and was able to get it done quickly and thoroughly.

I brought the car for snow tire change. It turned out I ordered the wrong wheels. Jay and the crew were super nice, explained what I need to order, put everything back in boxes and didnt charge for all the trouble. Grateful.

I scheduled an appointment with this location to get a brake job. I spoke to two different representatives to insure they had my appointment scheduled. Upon arriving today, I meet with a store representative. He then told me I could not wait in the waiting room while they performed the work due to Coivd19 concerns. I was never told there was no waiting room accommodations available to customers. The

The whole team is beyond fantastic. They took my car in twice with absolutely no problems at without any scheduled appointments. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Jovani was a lifesaver and helped me with my tire situation. I will always take my car here hands down!!!

I came home on Friday night to find a screw in my tire; certainly not the best timing. Took my tire to NTB the following morning and Jay was great about getting me right in as they were (lucky for me) not busy as I came in right about when the store opened.Leroy fixed me right up with a quick plug and I was safely on my way without having to purchase a new tire! The team there is great and I will definitely be back should I need their services in the future.

I came in last week to have my tire balanced. I was greeted promptly by Jay when I walked in. He was very welcoming and talked about pricing beforehand, so there was no guess work!The convenience of appointments is huge because most small mechanic shops dont offer this service. I definitely recommend going to see Jay and his team for affordable, and speedy service in a pleasant atmosphere.

Your service guy Jay was really helpful, as usual, and your team did their usual good work replacing my brakes. I just noticed for the first time that there was a $35 garage fee on my bill, which I still do not understand since I was already charged for all the parts and labor. It was in a corner of the invoice in pretty small print, plus the asterisk didnt help me understand it completely. I guess its for lube, nuts, and bolts, but really, 10% of the mechanical repairs just seemed like gratuitous price gouging! I didnt appreciate that I wasnt informed about it either at the end. Seemed like a hidden cost I didnt know about beforehand.

I wouldnt go anywhere else. The guys there are so helpful and I always recommend them to all my friends and family. I only trust them with my car.

This is a great place to get your tires! Super competitive pricing and honest service. Came in for a new set of four performance tires, custom ordered the tires (Anthony was great) and when I went to have them installed, they told me the dealer was wrong and I only needed to replace one of them. Jovani showed me all four tires and how much tread every tire had left. I ordered four other performance tires for my son’s car during this process and it was very smooth. Definitely recommended!

Best tire place in town. Jovani and Anthony are both a pleasure to work with. I guess the tattooed guy Jay isnt there anymore (he was THE MAN!!!), but they still took great care of me.

Jovani did a wonderful job in ensuring that everything they were doing to my car was communicated and the time frame it would take which was greatly appreciated. Overall, this location takes care of their customers and doesnt make them feel like another in and out job - thank you for everything!!

My experience was less than ideal. Dont get me wrong, my tires have been mounted and my wheels balanced at a reasonable price and time, but the quality of work is worse than expected. 3 out of 4 tires have damage to edge of the rim and 2 have marks on the face of the wheels. Bottom line the wheel came back worse condition than when dropped off and for this reason I cannot NTBs service.

I went in this morning and NONE of their staff were wearing masks. If you can’t prioritize safety in the waiting room, why would I trust you with my car?

Always good and fair. Usually very busy so call in advance. Always have good prices as theyre very knowledgeable. They also have a waiting room and theyre about a 10 minute walk from some of the best shopping on Needham st.

My wife had a flat tire and we needed it fixed fast. Anthony OConnor was at the desk and managed the repair in a very timely and professional way. He was a pleasure to work with .

I have to say I had exactly the opposite experience of most of the reviewers. I had a run flat blow out on a Saturday afternoon. Needed to go to NH the following afternoon. Most tire stores closed at 4 on Saturday and werent open on Sunday. Sears doesnt sell run flats at all.Went to NTB at 9am on Sunday. Bought 4 continental run flats (the other 3 had 60k miles on them so I figured Id get all 4). The service advisor went to 3 locations to round them up. Put them on and done by 12:30 when hed said theyd be done. Reasonable price compared to what Id seen online.

Not so good.I was loosing a lb a day on my tire.You put a patch on and now loosing 5 lbs a day.Ill bring it back.Also the tire & rim were returned to me filthy. That says a lot about your work.

They always help me with when I have any doubts about how is the best way to fix my car. Jovani, front desk, is always very patience answering my questions and informing me about the best way to fix my car whenever is needed it. Tires, breaks, alignment. They are just awesome and I always get the best service.

Very expensive service. The quality of the work is not bad but they are very inconsiderate with peoples time and schedule. They gave me a 2 hour appointment which lasted three hours. I asked them several times to give me a proximal time to pick up the car but each time they miscalculated and did not care if I needed the car or not. Another important thing is that you think they are going to give you holiday discount of some sort but they have this over priced warranty and other stuff that you have to buy that ends up being more expensive than the most expensive places. I do not suggest NTB to anyone.

Ive been coming to this NTB for over 4 years now, and Ive always had good experiences. I have an old car, so unfortunately I have to be here more than Id like, but its nice to be recognized and receive great service. Jovani and the guys are super, and always give me an honest answer and good deals on pricing.

10 months after having my front rotors, calipers & pad installed they needed to be replaced.Called the store asked about my warranty and they told me it wasnt covered. Went to a different NTB in Shrewsbury. They took care of me ... I thought. but they wanted to charge me $75. To correct the problem. I refused and they were not happy. 2 weeks later Im back with the same problem. They refused to fix the problem unless I paid $165.00. Otherwise they would not service my vehicle to correct there mistake. Drove away after it took 4 hours and it had the same issue. Im on the highway &called back and they tell me its my back brakes that are the issue. Bad Bad Bad business. 12 hours with 3 trips for a $900 job with a tax of $165. To correct their mistake . I believe now that the mistake has not been done that I will head over to the Westboro District Court and see if I cant get what I paid for thru the legal system.

Overall professional service. They didnt try to push expensive, unnecessary stuff but just stuck to what needed to get done to get my car fixed. I did knock one star off because the service took a long while -mostly due to not prioritizing things right and not having a lot of staff on hand, so I was stuck waiting there for a long while. Thats relatively minor though, since getting the job done at reasonable cost is more important to me.

Good service, but always takes longer than promised so plan for extra time. Someti.es suggests work that is unnecessary, some employees nice, but in general, people here are rude and have no problem raising their voices and blaming it on just his personality. Make sure you get all commitments in writing.

Jay (front of the house) and his crew, Brian (back of the house) and his crew were all very professional and real. You wont get the truth and honesty from most service operations, but everything was backed up by fact when showing cost, backed up by knowledge when explaining that your front lower control arm is Smoked. My car broke down an hour plus from home on a Sunday of all days. Jovani and crew took my car in and tried to find a quick fix or a diagnosis for it. He was honest and forthright to try to get my car fixed. After diagnosing the problem he didnt charge me anything since the issue was extreme and I was far from home. I would totally recommend this place for everyone in the area.

Excellent customer service. They were honest about what i needed and I saved 80 dollars on my tires in comparison to commonwealth motors. I drove an extra 30 minutes for this.

Soo expensive! I had a break oil leak. They told me I can not reuse any part of my break! They recommend a complete repair for $800. $180 for a drum while my drum are actually new and usable.

I have been using this NTB for something like twenty years. Years ago I brought my sons Honda in after the dealership told him he needed four new tires. The NTB service person said after checking out the car I cant sell you four tires, it only needs two. Since then I have brought my cars to NTB and have always found them to be honest and fair. Today I went in desperate because I couldnt figure out how to fix something on my car. Not only did Jay show me but he fixed it for me. There is no other place i know of with such good customer service.
