STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN AUTO OUTLET! I didnt scroll down far enough on the reviews (read the review from 10 months ago).The warranty that was such a big deal covers NOTHING! Joel talked a good game, as car salesmen do, but he is a 22 year old that should find a different career. He will tell you that his mechanic has looked the car over, that they spare no expense and the car is good to go. This mechanic doesnt have the tools or diagnostic equipment to work on a car in the very small garage that is right there on the car lot. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

I don’t want to say that purchasing a car from this dealer was a terrible experience, but it was not a great one and not something I can recommend.I purchased a well-priced and seemingly well-maintained car from this dealership, which was exactly what I was looking for given my budget as a second-year college student. I needed a car that was reliable, relatively inexpensive, and reasonable quality for the price point. I explained this to Joel and he seemed eager to help, and was very kind in the process of buying my car.The first red flag in my experience should have been that the car was being jumped in order for another family to test drive it, which is on myself and my family for not looking into. There was clearly something wrong with the vehicle, but we were told that it had just passed a pre-loan inspection with flying colors and had absolutely nothing wrong with it, so we did not buy the extended warranty, trusting that the car was fine, as we had been told it was. I asked that Joel remain transparent with me if he knew of any issues the car had, assuring him that I was willing to buy from him as a dealer and would just choose a different car if there was something wrong with the one I had chosen. I drive 3 hours to college frequently, and my job depends on having reliable transportation so it was especially important to me that this car was not going to give me issues.After we bought the car, we were sent home with a gallon and a half of gas left. This is more of an annoyance than anything else, but it’s a wise business move to make sure that people can make it home in the car that you sell them.I also discussed the strong smoke smell in the car with Joel, and requested that he do what he could to get the smell out. He seemed more than willing to do so, and warned me that it may not be completely gone but would be significantly less noticeable. Whether he tried and it didn’t work or he simply forgot, three months later, the car still reeks of smoke. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as I myself have not been able to get the smell out, but I would have liked assurance that he at least tried.The main issue I have with the business transaction I had with Joel is that a car with “absolutely no issues whatsoever” has given me nothing but issues since the day after I bought it. The car would not start and when I called Joel, he said that it could’ve just been from sitting on the lot and offered to help me fix it as cheaply as possible which I did appreciate. Two weeks after i purchased it, my car still did not start 75% of the time that I tried to. We have poured over $700 into this car that “had nothing wrong with it”, only to find out that something is indeed wrong with it. I have not made it more than two and a half weeks without having to put my car in the shop, and am still currently trying to sort everything out. We have reached out to Joel with no response, and this has been a very frustrating experience for me as a first-time car buyer.I wrote this review not with the intentions of slandering Joel or his business, as I think he is a good person with good intentions. I understand that when you sell multiple cars, there’s no guarantee that they will all be perfect. However, it is very frustrating and upsetting to me that we were clearly given false information regarding the vehicle, and that Joel did not take the time to check and see if something was wrong with the car, which has been giving me the same problems I know it was giving him on the lot. The issues I am currently experiencing are not new, and the car should not have been sold until they were solved or without complete honesty. I am disappointed in this experience and can not in good faith recommend this business due to the false information and unwillingness to try to make amends with these problems.
