After waiting over two weeks to get my car into the dealership, thinking the part would be covered under the extended warranty, they never ordered the part like they stated they would on the phone. After waiting over 20 minutes for my appointment time to learn that they did not even order the necessary part. I asked to speak to the manager and waited for 15 minutes and no one showed up. I would never step foot in this dealership again. Its worth the drive to go anywhere else.
We are from out of town and my daughter attends a local college. She has a 2014 Santa Fe sport that the check engine light came on. Because we have an extended warranty the option for us was Hyundai of North Charleston. We scheduled an appointment for two weeks out which was for 9a yesterday morning, she was scheduled to have car checked over while she waited. Only to be told upon arrival that they were too busy and she would have to leave the car but they would call her with an update in a couple hours. She then had to Uber 30 minutes back to her school. By 2p we had not heard anything, since then we have made several attempts at leaving messages and speaking to operator only to be sent to “customer service” to be put back through to the unanswered voicemail. Let me also state, the car is driveable, we were only looking to have it “checked out” as a precaution. It’s now the afternoon of the following day and we have still not heard from the dealership, service department, or customer service. Below are the notes for the appointment, clearly stating this was only to check and advise how to move forward, and that she was to wait while they did this.
As a single female anytime you take your vehicle in for servicing it makes you cringe. I always feel as though they are waiting to take advantage of a female when it comes to car servicing. However Ashley at the service desk is absolutely so amazing the Tech gentleman I forget his name, came out and spoke to me in person about my vehicle both times I had my car in, there was no charge for me. They take such good care of my car Im so glad that they are there.
Bought a 21 Sonata for my wife she absolutely loves this car.
Ashley the service representative is very rude this was the worst experience I’ve ever had my car was in the shop multiple times they couldn’t figure out the issue after I spent almost $1400 with them also there was such a lack of communication no updates with so ever. When I came and pick up my vehicle the service representative “ASHLEY” got a nasty attitude and start slamming things around & just gave me my car no explanation of what was done, apology or anything. Also I had an appointment for a recall for over a month & it still wasn’t taken care of I would never recommend this place I would give them zero stars if possible.
Regarding the service center: only take your car here if you have all the time and money in the world. I can never get a hold of anybody on the phone and when I do they’re nice but they way way way overcharge for simple and also unnecessary things.
This service center is a bit out of the way for me, but since I drive a Hyundai I thought it the best place to take my car.The first time (late last year) I used them I was very unimpressed. I went in for a checkup and oil change just before the 60k warranty expired. All seemed good but the electric latch on my hatchback mysteriously broke...no ones fault. The car was left a bit untidy too.I had to go in a second time because the check engine light came on and for some recalls. Also an oil change. This was a much better experience. The service rep was great, and everything was timely finished. I did get the feeling that he was not getting the support he needed from management. Two of his questions were ignored while I was standing there.Im going to use them for warranty and recall stuff, but probably not for general maintenance. 3.9 stars...I rounded up.
Hyundai of North Charleston is hands down head and shoulders the BEST! The dealership features a great selection of quality vehicles to choose from and the facility is first class. Spacious, clean and comfortable to say the least. The sales team is phenomenal - knowledgeable, helpful and friendly but not pushy. They truly care about the customer and getting you into the vehicle you want at the best possible price. Great follow up AFTER the sale as well. And the service department also makes the customer feel valued and well served. It’s been a great experience for me and my family. I have gotten two new vehicles there in the past 8 months - a Tucson and a Santa Fe and I’m very happy with both. Nothing but positive things to say about everyone and everything there. I highly recommend this dealership!
I was a never ending circle of trying to get ahold of someone. I finally picked up my car and it my A/C was on full blast, blowing hot hair. I drove about a mile trying to give it an opportunity to cool down. Nothing worked so I returned, and they refused to gas up my A/C.
For any car service, you need to go see James Jackson. He will take very good care of you. I drive from Myrtle Beach every time I need anything because he is absolutely the best.
Very good service staff. took the time to explain all issues with my car. I never felt like i was being taken advantage of. My Extended warranty offered by hyundai in 2015 was not in my car. The service writer connected to the Hyunday website and confirmed that I was still under warranty.That was a great Relief!!

On a long distance trip from Florida to Michigan we experienced a tire problem that could have turned out to be trouble. We had the good fortune to have James Jackson, Service Advisor, of Hyundai of North Charleston come to our rescue. What could have been an all day repair turned out to be one and a half hours. The courtesy and professionalism of Mr Jackson was the reason why. Thank you James.
It was my first time ever buying a new car. Jerel Cage made it a great experience. No pressure. Worked with me to get payments where I needed. My son was with me which was good because I was a nervous wreck. Jerel was patient when I kept needing to stop and let things sink in and process. Son went back the next day and got his car!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience with this dealership. Our first time here was when we bought our Santa Fe and the car salesman Glenn was very helpful. He made sure the process was easy and answered all of our questions. Not once did he try to pressure us into something we didnt want like other salesmen weve dealt with.Our second time with this dealership was when we were having issues with our finance company. They were making issue they caused very difficult for us. We ended up calling the dealership to see if they could help us in any way. Dan in the finance department was able to see that everything was correct on their end. He went above and beyond to help us get the issue solved within days. Wed been dealing with the finance company for months.Glenn and Dan, thank you very much for a wonder experience with Hyundai of North Charleston. If we still lived with South Carolina, wed definitely continue to do business with you.As for the people reading this review, I couldnt recommend a better dealership to work with. They have a great inventory, sale department and finance department. They also had a great setup for dealing with the pandemic. Everyone wore their mask correctly, kept their distance and were doing appointments so there werent too many people at one time.
I’m so glad I drive a Nissan! The service is horrible! My son’s car has been in their shop now for 3 weeks. They do not keep your updated on anything! You have to call them several time for them not to answer. I have shown up twice now with no good results. Both times I showed up I was told to wait and someone would help me. I waited to speak to someone the first time 15 minutes. The second time I had to walked through the building to find someone else because the guy that was sitting there kept telling me someone would be with me. My last visit on Friday I spoke to the director. He could not give me any answers on my sons car because there were no notes from the technicals. We were promised call backs over and over. The have not loaners available. I think Hyundai’s are great cars. I just won’t purchase one because of what I have experienced from this dealership and what friends has experienced!
If I get a good salesman, Ill buy. Needless to say I left without purchasing. Went elsewhere where the staff and salesmen were alert, interested in my business and moving not just more interested in their cell phones and made my purchase there.
Treated me well . Had a starter short out on my 2029 sonata fast repair. Very courteous at the service dept. If I buy another hyundai it will be thru them.

Non Transparent pricing! Wanted to see the Palisade and internet sales consultant confirmed the pricing on the dealer website to be correct. Drove over 30 minutes to see the car only to see dealer had added $8000 in market adjustment and bogus fees. Huge waste of time.
This was a great experience. My mother Beverly purchased the 2021 Accent. Steven our sales manager was a unexpected delight. He was just coming in to work and had not even settled in yet when he greeted us and held the door open for us. From that point on, he was amazing. His knowledge of the product and promotions was exceptional. He worked with us until we got the payment that we needed. My service was good. But what I did notice, that after service they should do a wash of the vehicle. Many places are washing you car as a service for their customers.

I know the car market is tight but this dealer is adding huge fees on top of the Sticker MSRP price. Do not go by what you see on their site. You go there and then you see the 2nd sticker they add to the car. Sad. When the shortage of cars is over, remember the dealerships that ripped the customers
Sorry to post this but I tred real hard to by a 2021 Sonata from them. Went to Stivers Hyundai in Columbia got the exact same car there for $4500.00 less. Caleed North Charleston Hyundai back before I bought it told them I had the check in hand could they match the price. They told me to buy it at Stivers there price was there price. I bought it there. Went back to Stivers on 9/1/13 and bought my wife a 2021 GV80 Genesis. I am A Veteran and Stivers Hyundai will take care of you. All I can say is give Stivers Hyundai a call before you sign and drive.

I have shopped at multiple dealerships in the Charleston area, but I have never ever had a sales associate call over his manager to laugh at my price negotiation. I fully understand that there is a shortage of new cars because of the chip shortage, but I was frankly shocked and in disbelief that I was getting laughed at. I was upfront with my price from the beginning and it was used to humiliate me. Of course, the manager was kind, thanked me for my current service in the USAF, and explained his situation but the sales associate needs to work on general respect for people of all colors and backgrounds.
The service was done in a timely manner. Personal was polite.

Ive bought 2 Hyundais, my father in law leased a vehicle, and my parents bought a vehicle, all within the last 5 years from Hyundai of North Charleston. The salesmen do a great job of giving you the information you need, not putting on the pressure, and treating you like a family member. The Sales Manager Reggie is fantastic at his job. He is super friendly and remembers past customers. He doesnt apply any pressure when trying to make a deal. Ive never felt inclined to write a review about a car buying experiece, good or bad. Trust me, Ive had plenty of bad experiences at other places. Reggie is just great at what he does, and working with him and the salesman that work for him, is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to Hyundai. That and the cars they are making are pretty good too. Cant beat the value.

I worked at this Dealership for 4 years back when it was Rick Hendrick Hyundai…since the ownership change the ENTIRE maintenance staff has severely underwhelmed in terms of customer service and general courtesy.My mother found out she had two tail lights that were out at a gas station next to Hyundai. Against her better judgement she pulled into Hyundai because it was close.(we were already aware of the now HORRIBLE service).The service advisors where James, Barry and Barbara. My mother DIDNT have an appointment and thats fine. She was told by the service advisor that that it could be an electrical issue and yada yada. He wanted her to leave the vehicle or come back another day.My Mother left and came to my house where I popped two new taillights in, in under 5 minutes. That’s inexcusable for a man to be that inconsiderate and put my Mother in Danger by not even attempting to solve the issue but rather push her away insinuating long wait time and that the issue was more than a simple tail light change. Im highly disappointed in this staff and team and will do ALL in my power to steer customers AWAY from this establishment. There is no sense of community values..its all about up selling and getting the most money possible while giving inadequate customer service. We will never come here again

Disappointed with the lack of concern for people’s cars at this dealership. Scheduled an appointment because of concerns about the exhaust coming from my car. Waited for an hour and the advisor came back and said, “We didn’t have time to look at it and we’re closing. You’ll need to bring it back another time when we have time to look at it.” What was the point of scheduling an appointment if you’re not gonna look at it?!
Tried scheduling a regular service and a repair. No one ever answers. Several messages not returned. Now machine states mailbox is full...

First I want to say I have owned a total of 4 Hyundais throughout the years. Their quality makes them absolutely the best. I just had my Hyundai Elantra serviced on 9/4/2020. My service adviser was Ashley McGee who goes above and beyond to ensure everything is done correctly and always puts the customer first. The service manager Chris Casey even greeted me to ensure all my needs were met. I have dealt with Chris Casey in the past. Always professional, pleasant and like Ashley, absolutely puts the customer first. I feel like I am treated like family there. I will always purchase Hyundai and use Hyundai of North Charleston for all my service needs.
Pete was a great service representative and he helped me with getting my car back and running despite warranty issues with the original dealership. I would absolutely bring my car back in to him again.

Best car buying experience EVER!!!!! This is my first time owning a Hyundai - Ive had the car for a little over a week now and I am just in love. I purchased a 2021 Hyundai Kona and it has everything I need and its such a pretty car and a great ride. The price point is JUST RIGHT and the financing option through Hyundai is fantastic. Most importantly, the customer service at the North Charleston dealership is really first class all the way. Steve Laribo sold me the car and he is a gem! I have been having a hard time understanding the nuts and bolts of car ownership for a while now (yes, for some people this may be a no brainer but for me it is tricky to understand the cost / benefits, etc.) and Steve helped map everything out for me so that I truly (for the first time in my life) felt confident with my purchase. Then I worked with Dan in financing who also helped me feel like I got the best deal possible when it came to the warranty and that kind of thing. Being a woman walking into a car dealership it can sometimes feel like I am going to get taken advantage of and/or I wont be taken seriously but these guys were super down to earth and I was treated with total respect and care. I am happy that this will be my one stop shop for all of my car servicing needs for the next 5-10 years and as long as things keep going this way I will be a Hyundai owner for life! :-) Also they have great coffee. :-)
I financed a Hyundai Elantra with Cameron Cleary and he was a fantastic salesman! He wasn’t the stereotypical aggressive salesman that makes a car buying experience stressful. He was patient, very friendly and gave me to space and time I needed to make a decision without making me feel pressured. Mr. Dan with financing was very honest, and straight to the point and very friendly. Both Cameron and Dan were a pleasure to work with and made this experience great. This is the first car buying review I’ve felt inclined to give, and it’s well deserved! I highly recommend both of them.

Valued sale OVER safety.Im the owner of a 2020 Hyundai Tucson with an active recall for the anti-lock brake system. I called several dealerships this week looking for a location with parts in stock, and an appointment available in time for me to make an 8-hr drive to visit family. Hyundai of North Charleston assured me that they had parts and an appointment open so I took today off from work, to make the 2-hr drive to have my recall serviced.When I arrived I was told that they only had 1x set of parts in stock, and those were reserved for emergencies only. There have 12 engine compartment fires related to the open recall, so Im not sure what their definition of emergent is. When I spoke with the service floor Manager he told me that those parts were being given to a customer who *might* purchase a new car that day. His priority was a possible sale, over the safety of a vehicle/driver who was already out on the road.Not only did I waste a 4-hr round trip, leave my Airmen without their Flight Commander, I was disrespected and made to believe that my safety (and the money Ive already given to Hyundai) was unimportant. I was appalled. I left without having any service done, and now have to find a new date/time/location that can help.When I was shopping for a Hyundai earlier this year I decided to go with Stivers in Columbia because their customer service was better, todays interaction with North Charleston only confirms that I gave my business to the right dealership.
Will never buy another car from them or use their service department!

It’s a mess of a dealership. Horrible experience purchasing a car there. Car was delivered without floor mats, only one key (despite promising the second one would be mailed) the whole process was a big mess and pain. Tags haven’t even processed yet. Read some of the other reviews to get a better idea. Steer clear of this place though.
Purchased a brand new 2021 Hyundai Sonata N-Line from this dealership less than a month ago. Upon purchasing the vehicle, I was given assurance that I had a full warranty for up to 10 years or 100,000 miles. Over the weekend I had a flat tire where I ended up having to place my spare on. Took it to the dealership this morning and they tried to charge me the cost of the new tire as it was not covered under warranty. Apparently the warranty package that I had does not cover tires. No additional warranty information was ever offered to me so when I was given the original warranty information, how was I supposed to know that this was different? I work 18 miles away from my house and this has caused a great inconvenience as my car is barely able to be driven for 2 days now and tomorrow will be a 3rd as they stated they dont have a loaner car to give me at the time AND I still had to submit partial payment for this service while waiting another day for them to take care of this matter. I will not recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from here (the first representative I spoke with couldnt even verify if I purchased the car from his dealership. He asked me and I had to tell him yes and the date of purchase). All in all, this has been a terrible experience for me and left a bad taste in my mouth at this location.
This was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. I came in today and immediately received bad service. The person helping me mad either seem like he wanted me out of the store and did not take me as a serious buyer. When I asked about the 2k worth of dealer added options and if they can be removed, they were very condescending and stated that they are a for profit business so the options will not be removed. They stated that all the other dealerships were conducting the same shady practice and laughed at me when I said not all dealerships do that. They constantly went back on their word when they gave me conflicting information. Beware of this dealership. There is no reason that $295 wheels locks cannot be removed from the sale if they were a dealer option and not a manufacturer option. I have always shopped from hyundai dealers wherever I travel to and this has been the first terrible experience. I would rather travel 2 hours to the next closest hyundai dealer than do business here with they way they treat customers.
I always bring my car in to see James in the service lane. His customer service is always top notch and he always ensures that my vehicle is returned before the promised time.

Service was completed, but I am not sure it was as timely as it could have been. Also, I have been smelling a strong order, as I had the Transmission oil changed. No leakage visible, so may be some fluid spilt while putting it in the Transmission. Hopefully that is the case....
Avoid their Service Dept at all cost. I am aware it is typically more expensive at dealerships but they wanted to charge me the diagnostic fee on top of the repairs. Every place Ive been to will waive the fee IF the work is done there and by them. They eventually took it off only after I addressed it. The worst part is, it took 3 hours for them to tell me I need a new battery. 3 HOURS! The one good thing I will say is the Service Writer that I worked with (First desk) was very pleasant and handled everything well with full understanding. I cannot say the same about the others. I will avoid moving forward
I accidentally left my wallet in a vehicle and I called to ask them if they could hold it for me when I got there and when I got there “Barbara” thought it was a smart idea to give my wallet to someone else that didn’t have no clue who I was so I had to chase my wallet down in order to receive my wallet ... and Barbara was very rude acting as if she never made a mistake in her lifetime making smart remarks like “you shouldn’t have left your wallet in a vehicle “
After having great luck with older Hyundais, we looked into buying a new Santa Fe. As it was our first brand new car purchase, we were very apprehensive about parting with a lot of money, and expecting the stereotypical dealer charade. But the former was addressed with zero pressure and sincere empathy, and the latter didnt occur at all. Chris McConnell was was our salesperson. Im a car guy, and a lot of these salespeople just dont know their product, but Chris sure did (knew about the features, trim levels that had them, which years - all of which I verified was true). With his help, the 2020 Santa Fe SEL 2.4 FWD turned out to be the perfect fit for our needs. After the first visit/test drive, got the obligatory intro to the finance manager, Sal, who was like If you want to buy the car here, Im happy to see you again. No What can I do to put you in this car today stuff. Took two days to think/plan/question with no harassment, and quick, candid answers to my questions, and no hard push to buy what I didnt want. Decided to buy, settled on great price by phone, and wrapped up in a few hours. (Have to credit Laura for answering a couple questions, too). Id ding half a star for corporate because in 2020, we should be able to knock off an hour or two with some web based data fill rather than paper. Where to begin. I have unfortunately been forced to use this dealership for my service ever since the Hyundai dealership closed in West Ashley. Every experience I’ve had has been the most underwhelming and disappointing experience. Service seems to always be trying to upsell and makes you feel like they care very little about you but only the bottom line. They have the advantage that they are the only option in the area and clearly exploit that.I’ve been trying to schedule a service this week. Their website is causing issues not allowing you to schedule online. I’ve called 5 times and left two voicemails over the past 3 days to schedule an appointment. This is all because their service department did not call me LAST WEEK to schedule my service like their parts department said. They have no focus on customer delight. The sales department... horrible. I will never buy a car from this dealership. The sales experience I had was the epitome of what you hear about “car salesman”. I had looked briefly at a Palisade and the gentlemen I worked with who will remain nameless as I was so embarrassed for him that I wouldn’t want him to be further embarrassed by his actions, was trying to shove the car down my throat. He was pushy, rude and inappropriate.I am at the point where I am considering selling my Genesis just so I don’t have to deal with this dealership (of course I could find a third party to service my vehicle instead).Hyundai of North Charleston - you have a LONG way to go to fix your mess.

Im on the fence about this place. I just ordered an elantra gt nline. The salesperson was pushy. He kept saying how can we do business tonight? And getting angry when I wouldnt buy a car without seeing it first. When I when back to order the car and give them 1000$ the finance person acted noticeably bothered by the sales manager asking him to take my money. They havent gotten the car yet and I will update this further when they do.

Best car buying experience I think I have ever had. I had already viewed their online inventory and chose a vehicle I was interested in. I called and spoke with Laura in internet sales and I asked very specific questions in regard to pricing. She happily gave me the information. And because of that I made an appointment to come in. When I got there JT, a salesperson, greeted me at the door. He was wonderful! Friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help without being pushy at all. When I moved on into Finance, Dan Wiggins, the Finance Manager, thoroughly explained my options and worked with me to build a deal that suited my needs. A total of only two hours passed from the time I stepped on the lot to the time I was driving home in my new vehicle. I highly recommend this dealership as well as the people I dealt with if you are looking for a great deal and a great buying experience.
The rep I worked with, James Johnson, was great! Super first class and very responsive to calls and providing updates. Not sure if I got that kind of customer service ever before.
**EDIT - I was contacted by the service manager (Chris) in response to my review. He absolutely made it right and addressed all concerns I had in regard to my experience. I was impressed by his genuine concern**The quote I was provided was apparently for parts only. I was made aware of the error weeks after, when I arrived for my appointment. Although the staff lowered the amount due, in attempt to compensate for the error, the total cost was considerably higher than I was expecting to pay. The staff was friendly, but made it seem as if they were doing me a favor by negotiating the cost. I understand mistakes happen, but so far Im not impressed. Probably wont return once the remainder of the work is competed, barred the cost doesnt change again.
Hyundai service in general was good. But one of the service personal one of the females that handles the paperwork in the office was very rude with my daughter. We went and talked to the Service Manager and he was very helpful and polite. We have a Santa Fe. We will continue to use them just will avoid the one person. Thank you for working with us Hyundai!!
The service department are scammers! They took out our air filter on our car at a previous visit! Please go somewhere else to have your car fixed they are not trustworthy!
