I have been the full-time Audiologist here for almost two years, and I can still honestly say that I enjoy coming to work every single morning.Whether you need your ears cleaned, some custom hearing protection, a standard hearing evaluation, or amplification (hearing devices), this place is a one-stop shop that will always treats you like family.

I came here 2 years ago when I kept hearing crackling noises in my ear. I found this place online and thought that I would finally resolve my problem because at that point I kept hearing the crackling noise for 6 months! So my first thought was there has to be something in my ear! I came in, front desk was really nice super helpful. When the doctor came out I told him what I was hearing and what I felt and he decided to take a look. He looked and said my ear was cleaned and found nothing, but did see some kind of built up, But that was it. Didnt clean it or anything and told me it was probably a ear infection and to see my primary care doctor. The thing is when I went to my doctor they didnt see symptoms of an ear infection and this whole time I was left thinking what is wrong with my ear?! 2 years later I went back to my doctor and told him everything so he looked really deep in my ear and found out that it was built up ear wax mixed with a hair ball!! This whole time I couldve gotten this resolved a lot sooner than wayy later if the doctor just looked more thoroughly...

Oh the pain of ear wax! After dealing with the discomfort over the weekend, I found Hearing Zone. ( on Goggle). Drove over from Marin County and heading back home very happy. Ray is kind, understanding and professional. Hope I dont have an future ear issues but if I do Im definitely coming back.

So impressed with this place and these people. Dr. Thakkar is very knowledgeable and straightforward when explaining anything. Myra (sorry if I misspelled that) is a truly delightful person and always goes the extra mile. Bonuses: the office is in a nice part of town, has beautiful paintings on the walls, and is open on Saturdays. Highly recommend for anyone in the Bay Area — even if you live outside of Oakland, if you’re looking for an audiology practice you’ll love, the Hearing Zone is worth a drive.

I came here to get my custom fitted earplugs. The staff was very welcoming and happy to answer my questions. The doctor was kind and made me feel comfortable. He is a musician and also speaks Japanese, like me! The atmosphere was one I enjoyed. I recommend.

I have been going to both of The Hearing Zones locations in Oakland and Alameda for going on 9 years, no matter which of the doctors I have seen, they have always been, attentive, friendly and informative. And the receptionists are just as great. Truth is, it sucks loosing your hearing...but feeling like my ears are in such good hands makes it almost worth it. I would highly recommend The Hearing Zone to anyone struggling with hearing loss.

Fantastic customer service from start to finish! Dr Thakker and Myra are all about putting the customer first and keeping you informed of everything along the way. I went to them seeking a set of custom ear plugs, and when the first product didnt quite work for me, there was no hesitation in finding an alternative and making sure I was happy with the end result.

Incredibly friendly, great customer service, affordable. I called this morning and they were able to see me and my boyfriend together this afternoon for an ear cleaning. We had a good time talking with Dr. Thakkar and learning about our ears - such a good time that I didn’t want to leave ;-). Highly recommend for friendly and affordable ear “things”.

I went here to get ear impressions done twice now. The first time, I had issues with how my left impression turned out. I emailed their support and they offered to redo the impressions at no cost, that was awesome.Dr. Anish Thakkar was my Audiologist for both experiences. He was more than professional, and accommodating. I strongly recommend booking an appointment with him.

Im a sound engineer so my ears are vitally important to me. The people at Hearing Zone went out of their way to fit me with a good pair of musicians molded ear plugs. Dr. Thakkar was fast, friendly and professional.

I wish I could rate this place higher than 5!Ideally I was originally thinking of heading to my personal doctor about my hearing problem but jokes on me, I dont have a personal doctor... but lucky for me Im really happy I found this place.I found this place on Yelp, due to the problem of me having a hearing issue due to swimming.What had happen was that after swimming I used a Q Tip which initially blocked out my hearing from pushing the wax close to my ear drum mixed in with the chlorine from the water. I messed with my ear more which made me start bleeding. I set up an appointment the next day and was able to come the next hour!Im really happy and satisfied how Dr Thakker has treated me. Especially the gorgeous desk worker Myra! :DI felt like I was rushing them and nagging them of my problems but turned out to be such an enjoyable treatment. Dr. Anish Thakkar is very professional and personable... he doesnt just work with hearing aids, but is also concerned with the protection of hearing. This is very important to me as a singer!

I frequently attend concerts, and wanted to find a reliable practice for custom ear plugs. Dr. Anish Thakkar recently came to Hearing Zone, and works a few days at the Alameda office too. He took time with me to explain the options and the procedure, and I was very happy with the plugs. Id definitely recommend this place!

I recently got over an ear infection, and was curious as to how I was hearing in general. So I made an appointment at the Hearing Zone, and met Dr. Anish Thakkar. He was very attentive, and gave me a complete hearing test. He then explained my baseline audiogram to me, and sent me home with a copy for future reference. I was pleased with the service, and would definitely recommend this clinic!

Dr. Thakker is not only an audiologist, but also a musician. I would strongly recommend the hearing zone to anyone looking for ear protection.

Dr. Ray Crookston and the Hearing Zone are amazing!I first walked into the Hearing Zone in 2008. Dr. Crookston performed a thorough evaluation of my hearing loss, and then spent the next NINE MONTHS helping me test out, adjust, and select the perfect solution for my needs. Its not that Im incredibly picky or anything - he wouldnt stop with an almost-right solution.This year when I needed to replace my original aids, he knew all about all the changes that had happened in the field in the four years that had passed - he stays very current.Theres absolutely no sales pressure - finding the right solution is his top priority.If you have trouble hearing in a noisy restaraunt, or sometimes feel left out of a conversation in a group of friends, dont put it off - go see Dr. Crookston! Youll be astonished how much you were missing.

I came here to get impressions done for in-ear monitors. Cant say enough good things about this office. Everyone was very friendly and I was in and out in a heartbeat. I will be going here for all hearing needs in the future!
