Marisa Mason is such a special store. The ambience is rustically beautiful and original with the wood paneled and white plastered walls, the staff is friendly and helpful and the work is gorgeous. Through the archway you can walk into a room where the in-house jewelery is being made. In this age of overseas mass production it is so nice to be able to glimpse the workers making a product and know it is done ethically by people who are happy and healthy. The store also stocks a lot of other home decor products made by local craftspeople. They are clearly committed to beauty without sacrificing quality. I highly recommend visiting this store if you are in Oakland.
She has a gorgeous selection of artisan made jewelry. Most of the shop is her products, mostly necklaces made with leather and brass. She said most of the brass pieces they made as well! The other side of the shop has smaller jewelry pieces and accessories that shes curated to go with hers. I love watching her work as well. She has her jewelry making station behind the checking counter. My only downside is that her necklaces are beyond my price point (the large ones are $200+), but they are really special pieces if you have the budget.
Went here for a permanent jewelry appointment, everyone was warm, friendly and helpful. The process was painless and seamless. Highly recommend for any gift and token shopping.
Beautiful jewelry made locally and a really friendly helpful staff. Parking can be challenging but worth it.
Cute designs but there is attitude and lack of class. The sales girl was annoyed I asked for a second pair of earrings to compared designs as all handmade items will always have some variations. She gave me an attitude but went to the back to get it, another girl came out with her I’m assuming she’s the owner, they were both a bit condenscending. I’m not comparing this place to service I’ve gotten at Selfridges in London recently but the truth is, they have some cute items but be prepared to lower your expections: you can’t buy class.
