Amazing experience. Everyone on staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They were very conscious of my skill level and needs. They fitted me for snowboard boots, baked them to help break them in, and had me go through a thorough process to make sure they were a good fit.Very glad we came to shop here. Love supporting a local shop.
We like to rent demo skis every time we go to a mountain, so I will start by saying we initially went into Ski Tech (also in Santa Fe) and they dont have any nice options as far as skis go but they guys in there knew nothing about what they were doing so in my review, I would avoid Ski Tech. We walked out immediately and found Alpine Sports. They were nearing closing time but the owner, Jeremy said they could get us taken care of. They hooked us up with some great powder skis and we were so impressed by the service and knowledge that we booked a consultation to be fit for new boots -- WOW. This is the place to go. My friend was able to get his boots (Fischer) completely re- molded and I had never actually been fit for boots before so this was amazing. Customer service and knowledge were above and beyond anywhere I have ever been and they have so much pride in what they do (as they should). If you need anything, this is your spot. I would advise to call ahead and make a boot consultation appointment with them for your trip and take a new pair home if you are due!
Just bought a couple custom insoles for hiking and running from Jeremy at Alpine Sports. Received the royal treatment from his awesome assistant Emily. Incredible sales so we’ll be back for all my summer camping gear! Thanks you guys!
Awesome place for all of your skiing or boarding needs! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful! If you rent a snowboard a couple of times you could have bought an awesome board here for the same money!
Great specialty ski shop. Went here to get fitted for and buy ski boots. Everyone who works there was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely interested in working with what I needed, and not just selling me the most expensive gear.
I have been going to alpine for over 30 years, it’s the towns best local ski/board/outdoor shop. We need to keep supporting them especially in these tough times.Best selection of quality products in town, go here before you go anywhere else.
Great experience ordering poles. I had several questions via email & ordered using their website. They shipped same day to arrive in time for hubby’s ski trip. Thank you!
Best service for finding hiking boots! Ask for Austin. Hes a genius!!!
I stopped in the shop to see some of the new ski gear. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I’ll be going back for a custom boot fitting this season!
Got a helmet for snowboarding thats tight. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable
Weird vibe, you sort of have to convince the employees that you’re worth talking to.
Amazing shop. Great help from staff and a decent selection for snowboarders. Moved down here from Colorado planning on renting all my equipment for the season just to learn that ski Santa Fe dose not do that only day rentals. Got my board boots and bindings here for around 700$(sale and clearance) and I couldnt have been happier with that price.
Great vibe and excellent service! M.H. was fantastic and provided top notch customer service!!!!
Lauren was great. Super knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable during my heat molding. Ill definitely go back. Cant wait to get my new boots in some snow!
I love to support local businesses so I will be frequenting this store more often for some great winter and outdoor apparel, skiing equipment, snowboarding gear. Also their customer service is off the hook!
Great selection of alpine ski and climbing gear. Knowledgeable staff with deep local connections.
I really enjoyed renting xc skis here. I didnt get the name of the gentleman helping us, but he explained everything very well door us noobs. The price is fair, and they even lent me a pair of boots because i forgot the other boots at home ( 1hr round trip). They are very accommodating! Good job guys!
Dont go here! The process to rent skis makes no sense and takes forever. You have to wait in a hallway in a basement. Every 3-4 people take about an hour. They are trying to use iPads that they dont have charged and have 1-2 people helping customers. People have been waiting for hours. Would not recommend this place to rent gear. The ski shop upstairs for new equipment seems fine, but definitely dont try to rent equipment here.
Really well quality made clothing & technical peices of equipment. Love this store. Got some awesome polarized sunglasses for $25! Very nice & helpful service!
Jeremy was extremely helpful w/ our son’s ski boots. Our son had many ski boot issues & he patiently helped him perfectly fit into his boots. He also gave my husband a great deal on his skis & bindings. So glad for the new ownership. We will definitely use Alpine for all our ski needs.
Great store worth to visit
I am not one to write bad reviews or complain. But the employees at this store are incredibly rude. When I spoke up about the poor service, the guy rolled his eyes and made a sarcastic comment. Sad to see such an iconic store go down the tubes because of such poor customer service. Ive been a customer for over 50 years but will not go back. Its Boot Doc in Taos from now on.
Cool shop. Owner (whos name Ive forgotten, maybe Jeremy?) helped fit me a pair of snowboard boots. The boots i bought fit perfectly and having someone size and fit you properly is essential. Would never buy something like boots online, and Jeremy did a great job helping me out.
Excellent customer service. Go to spot for hiking supplies!
Meh. Im sure the rental packages are as good as your other options in the area. Their parking lot lures you in with apparently available spaces, only to find that they are not usable - reserved for adjacent buildings. I had to park down and across the street to bring skis, boots and poles to the basement rental location. A drive by return would be more ideal.
Poor excuse for a ski or climbing shop. Limited selection of products with almost no expertise or customer service. They are a retail store and have no specialty experience in any of the gear. Coming from the PNW, this is a sad excuse for an alpine store
They really go the extra mile with their service. Theyve worked on punching out my ski boots several times, but only charged me for the original service. My feet have proven to be difficult to work with (mainly my ankles.) They said they would continue working on the boots, at no further charge until Im happy with them. Im definitely happy with Alpine Sports.
Very personalized service for boot & shoe fittings. This is not a quick shopping experience but if you have unique feet go check it out.
The staff is so nice and take their time to ensure youre comfortable with the rental equipment. Prices are very affordable too.
Great personal service. I bought ski boots, and everyone should make sure to take the time to have Alpine Sports do a custom fit, you won’t regret it. It’s worth the time, and they do a great job.
This is our go to sports store for outdoor activities. The staff is well versed in all the brands they offer and are always beyond friendly! They made custom ski boots for me last year and made me wonder....why did I even wait to do it! You will not be disappointed in your shopping experience; whether you are a rock climber, hiker, skier, biker, or just active in general. They have you and your family covered!Dont forget to give the store pups a scratch and pat while youre there.
For the first time in 60 years I am skiing in boots with no pain thanks to Alpines master boot fitter commitment. New owners Jeremy and Shirlee Cole are making Alpine the best boot shop in the Southwest. As Jeremy says you can buy skis in many places, boots are personal and critical. They wont quit until they get it right. Come see Bob
In June this year, I brought in some skis and bindings, that I purchased elsewhere, and asked them if they could mount them for my son who was going to ski camp. They told me it could be up to 2 weeks.......... I needed them in just less than that and the Tech was going on vacation the next week. The nice man at the front took my stuff and said he would see what he could do. Four hours later I got a call telling me they were done!!!!!! This is the definition of Customer Service.
The manager Jack helped me for several hours to find and fit me for the perfect ski boots. He was amazing, extremely hard working, and knowledgeable. Thanks to Jack I am finally able to experience correctly fitting boots after 20 years of skiing. Thanks for setting an excellent example for your staff!
I wanted to buy a pair of custom fit ski boots, and instead of the sales representative telling me, “I’m so sorry, we are booked, can I make an appointment for you?” the sales representative gave me a lecture on how busy she was and how there is no way during the Christmas holiday three week time span that anyone should come in without an appointment. Well, I will buy thousand dollar boots elsewhere without a lecture, thank you very much. I just called the Boot Doctor in Taos and they said no need for an appointment just come on up and they will do a custom fit.
My wife and I worked for years in ski towns, teaching, cooking, doing whatever it took to live the dream. Sometimes it sucks, especially during the holiday season when there is fresh snow on the hill and you have to work. When we went to alpine sports to demo skis, my empathy wore off fast when we encountered the least professional and rudest staff that I have encountered in my 30 years of skiing. Stay away. Try ski tech instead, where the young men and women techs and counter staff were amazing despite the place being packed and got a fat tip from us in appreciation.
Something that makes Santa Fe special are stores like these. Owner operated, husband and wife team pay special attention to your needs, from rentals to gear to extensive boot fitting. The team is very knowledgeable and fun to shop with.
My wife and I were in Santa Fe for a few days visiting family before heading up to Purgatory to introduce our young daughter to skiing for the first time. The last ski trip for the two of us was nearly 15 years ago and it ended with a very unfortunate accident that resulted in a torn ACL for my wife. I came across the Knee Bindings product while doing some research on ski-related knee injuries in an attempt to address my wifes concerns before our trip. The Knee Bindings website showed that Alpine Sports in Santa Fe was one of their authorized dealers. We dropped by Alpine Sports on our first night in town and we were helped by Franz and Lauren. Both were amazing to work with. Franz and the shop techs at Alpine then went out of their way to make sure that were were taken care of in the short time we had in Santa Fe. I appreciate that Alpine Sports cares enough about their customers safety to keep non-standard equipment like Knee Bindings in stock and were willing to help us ensure we got a setup that worked for us. Based on the excellent service we received I would definitely recommend Alpine Sports to anyone who needs ski equipment in Santa Fe, and especially so if youre looking for a setup with the Kneebindings ski bindings.
I had 2 boots fitted and I am glad I did. It fits like a glove and they did awesome job! Well worth the cost.
Not sure what Julie Deal is talking about (but then again, her other reviews seem a tad bit nasty so maybe she just isnt a nice person). Anyone that knows anything about outdoor equipment knows that Alpine is the best in Santa Fe. Amazing staff, awesome inventory (lots of hard to find brands, for example). They know their stuff. Feels like you are in a truly authentic European ski shop. I am a local, I am a gear junkie, I go here often. They are nice to me, nice to my kid. I leave feeling happy and with really cool gear.
We went out to Santa Fe for a long weekend to ski at Taos and snowshoe in Santa Fe National Forest. Went to every outdoor store in town looking for new shell pants, and finally stopped at Alpine Sports as it was recommended to us by family. The staff was unbelievably helpful. They had a fantastic selection of very high-end North American and European gear, and nearly all of it was on sale up to 40% off. I tried on nearly every ski pant in the store and the staff was very patient and diligent in explaining the differences between fabrics and features of every pant. My wife was also looking for a ski helmet and they spent a good amount of time fitting her - then marked 20% off the helmet just because! We will definitely be back to the area, and when we are back again we will absolutely come back to support this store. They are the best in the region!
I have been in and out of Alpine over the last two weeks doing lots of demos, trying to decide on what I want, The staff downstairs led by Brian was absolutely great, offered lots of information, always interested in my feedback, and accommodating. Also got a chance to see a couple of times where they fixed a customers bindings right on the spot, and if the fix was small they sent them off with out a charge. Even when busy they were friendly and gave great service. Jamming tunes too! Same with the new owner and sales staff upstairs. Owen in particular was extremely informative and helpful when it came to a final decision. Some of the reviews here raised important issues, however the new owner and leadership staff really take feedback seriously and they will work it out and fix it I think. So I like REI, nice people, great sports department store, but comparing the two regarding expertise in ski equipment just doesnt make sense to me. So Id say give the new owner a chance to work the kinks out, build on what is already great, and well have a killer shop to work with.
The best outdoor shop in town.
Super good place for all your sporting needs winter
A boutique outdoor store that offers custom-fitted ski boots, excellent equipment and clothes. Service is a bit patchy, but not bad.
Wasted my time. Brought in older skis for a binding remount. Mentioned they were old when dropping them off. 3 days later a call saying they cant work on them and theres no waiver I could sign either (which is common practice elsewhere). I ended up wasting 3 hours to/from and finally just remounted the bindings myself.
Fast, friendly, fair priced, professional service with a smile
Love love love my new Fischer vacumn boots. Naomi did a superb job helping pick and fit the best boot for me. They are very comfortable as well as responsive on the mountain. Also love my Rossignol Temptation 84 skis. Again, Naomi gave excellent service and Brians tune made for quick, responsive turns. Thank you Shirley and Jeremy for building a great team!
Great customer service and very helpful.
Staff was useless and uninformed. I went in wanting new snowboard boots and was treated like a stranger asking for help building a house. Completely useless staff no help at all. Really dissatisfied and disappointed. Employees didnt know how to talk to customers. 0 stars.
Went in looking for something specific. Looked around for a good long while. Was offered no help whatsoever by anyone there; and there were plenty of people there in a not very large shop. Fine, REI is just down the way, goodbye.
Great staff and product selection. A step apart from other choices in town.
A great spot, always prefer supporting Alpine over REI. They are an understanding group of people ready to help you with your needs. Lots of options and they climb a great variety of climbing gear, certainly more then REI does. Support Local Small Businesses!
Good place to purchase top of line ski equipment. Good repair shop for getting your skis tuned.
Our favorite ski shop. Really friendly staff, but theyre under new ownership as of next year, so well hope for the best. Knowledgable ski boot fitters.
Great local ski and Alpine sports shop. Highly recommend, even in the summer months
Best ski shop experience I’ve had. Customer service could not be better. Seriously. Here’s what happened. I went into Alpine Sports and bought a discounted pair of Blizzard Bonafides at the end of last season. In October I had them special order a new set of my favorite bindings and had them mounted on the skis. When I picked them up, they were mounted .5 cm forward of the mount line. This was concerning because the mount point can change the characteristics of how the ski performs. How Alpine Sports dealt with this was what was outstanding. The owner Jeremy told me I might not notice a half cm, but still gave me the option of a punch card for free tunes, or a replacement ski. Just an FYI, mounting mistakes are infrequent, but they can happen at any shop, and I’ve read enough online ski forums to know that what he offered was not typical and definitely qualified as stellar “make the customer happy” level customer service. I opted for a new ski. He told me that this years model is the exact same ski but with new graphics on top and he ordered a new ski. When it came he personally made sure it was mounted, tuned, set up to perfection, and ready for pick up a couple weeks before the season started. All with a smile on his face. So I ended up getting a brand new 2018 Bonafide at last years discounted end of season price. Pretty sweet right? When I thanked him for the great customer service Jeremy just shrugged, smiled, and said “it was our mistake, we will correct it and make it right, no matter what”.So yeah…great shop. Jeremy and his wife Shirley are friendly, knowledgeable, and they stand behind their product. You can trust them. They will deliver on whatever they promise, and their customer service is the best I’ve experienced. The shop has a good selection of gear and clothes, experienced bootfitters, a good tune shop, and maybe best of all…friendly shop dogs. Go there! Support them and they will support you.
Great place for Alpine sports! Best in Santa Fe
Blown away at the expertise of the young sales ladys knowledge of sport shoes.
High quality gear, knowlegeable and friendly staff. great location
Was in need of a specialty screw for the spine of my Lange 140rs boots. Bootfitter was extremely helpful and friendly. She let me look through their screw sets. I find the screw I needed. Thx! :)
Understaffed with a small selection. Cozy, tidy store.
Got me a pear a skisn imma xcited!
It appears that they have a decent inventory, and I am happy that a locally owned store is able to survive in the shadow of REI and online retailers, but my experience there was less than stellar, to say the least. The employee that helped me was arrogant and misinformed me about the products I was looking at. I have been in the ski/outdoor industry for a while and when I questioned him about what he was telling me, instead of being honest and telling me he didnt know, he just made things up. As if it was some kind of competition. I asked if he could order the item that I was looking for and he told me it would take at least two weeks, probably more and suggested I find it on the internet. Well, ok.Its unfortunate when you want to support a local business and they are so entirely unhelpful and dismissive they send you to their competitors with a shrug.
I wanted to try my new second hand skies with their boots but they did not allow. They said that they was not going to take that risk as the skies were old. I did not like their behavour at all.
From Texas and was helped by a lady who was beyond sweet! Great experience!
Jack helped me find the right Ski boot given I have wide feet and large calves. Most other boots that have a wide foot bed pinch my calves. He took the time and interest to select the right boot and then proceeded to custom fit it to my foot by using their equipment to enlarge the cavity and then adjust the cuff for my comfort. Never in my life have I had ski boots this comfortable! After he pulled out the sole and showed me how thin and useless it was, he also custom fit an insole for me, what a difference that made. Im cheap and NEVER buy anything I dont NEED. Out the door these wonderfully custom fitted boots and insoles were less than the stock boots I tried at REI, and Im a member there.I may go home, put them on and binge watch whats on my Netflix list tonight!!
Under the new ownership/management, things seem to have taken a turn for the worst. I had a quite dissatisfying customer experience: After I had rented a demo ski and wanted to buy that model, it was not available at the store. They promised to order it. Three weeks later, they tell me that they have done all the paperwork to have it sent out and make the skies available in two weeks. In addition, staff is less than polite and quite inattentive - they don´t really listen to the customer, and they forget what has been agreed upon. Poor job on checking on the bindings of my old skies.I will buy my equipment elsewhere - there is plenty of supply in Santa Fe and Taos. Good-bye.
Great outdoor gear stores..very friendly and knowledgeable staff...u can get skis..Goggles.helmets..to skisvand jackets
Great Customer Service!!! ⛷️🏂👍🏽
Completely incompetent staff, not to mention most were rude. Came early - no crowds, only my family was there and we were still treated rudely, almost like we were bothering them.My sons snowboard was assembled incorrectly and broke mid-mountain, before noon (thank goodness the Ski Santa Fe pro-shop staff was so kind to help us out, free of charge to get us through the afternoon). Upon return the staff blamed everything on us but did regretfully give us a refund for the poorly set-up board. We did ski day 2 and faired better. Unfortunately when we showed up to return our second-rate equipment we were treated very rudely yet again. Would rather face long lines at the mountain rental shop than ever rent at Alpine again.
Excellent gear....High quality to super high quality.
Horrible customer service. My husband and I are outdoor professionals and decided to give the local store a shot over REI. What a mistake that was. After walking into the shop, we were given the once over by the two employees chatting at the register. Neither of them acknowledged us. Once they finished their conversation (personal), one employee went downstairs and the other continued to ignore us. While we were still looking around, and older woman entered the shop. The employee at the register practically jumped over the counter to assist her. He walked her over to the section I was in and gave this woman a full run down on Patigonia, not once making it clear that he had noticed me. After his speech, this employee went right back to the register, never asking myself or my husband if we needed anything, for that matter not even saying hello. The best part of our experience was when this employee (older Caucasian male) racially profiled a young Hispanic man who was asking about snow shoes. This was when the employee finally said something to us, which happened to be I have to keep my eye on that one, referring of course to the young man.I will not only never step foot in Alpine again, but I will never recommend this place to anyone. At least at REI the employees treat their customers with respect.
Great staff, awesome hometown feel, but you will pay premium prices.
Wonder full staff and equipment. Very helpful with renting and binding checks
Rude employees! Conversations with each other seemed more important than my wanting to spend $$$.
We went in with full intentions on purchasing snowboarding gear for an upcoming trip. Staff was inattentive. We couldnt even get a hello or welcome . No one offered to help us, so we left.
We rent out ski equipment there every year and they are FANTASTIC!!!
I went there this weekend a loaded up for the season - their staff was awesome!
Very attractive attentive staff.
Rented skis here for years. Great people and skis.
Super helpful and not pushy.
THE place in Santa Fe to shop for ski boots.
Guys in the repair shop are great.
Just came in today with the express purpose of demoing and purchasing a new set of skis and boots but was chased off by the condescending and presumptuous staff in the equipment section. Oh well. Taking business elsewhere.
Top class ski shop
Excellent boot fitting
Very friendly and professional, will refer to all our fellow Texans.
Great find for outdoor supplies
Cool shop.
But, Never have been there
Excellent service
A New Mexico classic!
Rented some skis here, something was wrong with them because when my buddy Glenn came off the ski lift he feel down like he had never been skiing before.
Just wow!
Awesome
Hidden downtown Alpine Sports
Excellent service and ski equipment, the newest.
