I have never had a bad experience with Mavis. They have the honesty and integrity to allow me to confidently drop my vehicle off knowing that I am only going to be charged for what I need and there will not be any inflated costs/issues that dont really exist, etc. There have been 2 occasions that I have dropped my car off due to an unknown issue that in my head could have easily cost over $500, both times my bill was under $100. It feels amazing to have a shop where you can confidently walk in completely clueless and not be taken advantage of.

This particular Mavis is absolutely awesome. The guys inside narrow down exactly whats wrong with my vehicle each time I go in. They are very precise and they explain everything extremely well.

First let me say, the customer service was great. The guys at the desk were very nice and the prices are just unbelievably great compared to dealerships.This was my first visit (about 3 weeks ago) but unfortunately, my last, at this location at least.I went in hearing a noise I could not verify on my own.They were able to duplicate the noise and asked me if I wanted to come out so the technician could show me. I agreed and this is where the problems started.As I walked out into the garage, just about every technician was smoking either a cigarette or a cigar. Even though I am not a smoker, I am not against anyone smoking and I’m not judgmental towards them just because they smoke. But, technicians walking around inside smoking, working on customers vehicles while smoking is just disgusting and very unprofessional. I didn’t say anything, I just looked at my car and walked back inside.When my vehicle was fixed, I paid, got in my vehicle that smelled like cigarette smoke and left. This was about 3 weeks ago and I can still smell it in my car.Not only that, but wow, I’ve never seen a garage so disgusting and unsanitary. I’ve been in many garages, mostly dealerships, that are spotless. Privately owned shops I can see being a lot different than dealerships, but for Mavis being a huge corporate company, I was very disgusted at what I saw.

Mavis installed 4 tires balanced, replaced valve stems for less than what tires alone cost from Tire Rack. They also discounted the alignment.

We don’t normally come to Mavis, but we needed to get our brakes fixed as soon as possible due to traveling out of town. Zach was extremely helpful and did his best to fit us into their schedule even though they were extremely busy. He apologized for not being able to fit us in that day, but he ensured that they could get us in the next day. We are very great-full and will definitely be a returning customer.

Chris and Ted were excellent with me. Answered all my questions and got me through the process quickly. My truck has never been so quiet! I was gifted new windshield wipers for Christmas. I didnt know how to put them on so I called here (where the wipers were purchased). I asked if they could help me. They told me to come as soon as I could. When I got there, Nelson came right out to my car and helped me put them on. He was such a nice employee. He even taught me how to do it so that I will know instead of just putting them on. I highly recommend coming here.

Well.. I had my son take my van for inspection. They failed my 2016 caravan for rust on the FRONT brakes and pads. So my son replaced them.. they werent bad. Takes it back up.. Guy says it was BACK brakes right? Then proceeds to have to look at their paperwork which says FRONT brakes and rotors. Well my van is inspected ..yet the BACK brakes are the ones I needed to replace.. so thanks so much for proving to my son that I have always been screwed over by this place. Never again !

Ive always had great experiences at Mavis. Theyve never tried to upsell me on something my car didnt need, and they actually look for ways to get me back on the road and save money. Chriss team really goes above and beyond, for brake and exhaust and tire work, I dont go anywhere else. I wish they did spark plugs and engine repairs too!!!!

Suddenly my brakes were making horrible noises. I called my dealer. They said come a week from today! I called Mavis. They said come first thing tomorrow! I had new brakes by noon!

My experience was a big fail for Mavis. I did not get service. I pre-ordered tires and an alignment (basically scheduled an appointment), but they didnt have the tires.Bottom Line: They do not track online appointments, nor do they order tires you select online, so dont bother. Basically, only stock tires/sizes are available at the shop unless you make an in-person appointment ahead of time to get the tires ordered.I made an online order 8 days out and received confirmation. One day before, another confirmation. However, when I arrived, they did not have the tires. They offered to “put me in something else”, since the website doesn’t have any ties to the stock they carry nor the order process. It also appears that it is not tied to their appointment system. If they know the “online system” was broken or never worked, why let it continue? A week is plenty to either get the inventory or make courtesy call to me so that I don’t have to make a trip to the store to find out they’re wasting my time. Even with the computer issues, a simple check of the next day’s orders each night would have kept me as a customer. $700 going to someone else.

I had my car in to have my studded snow tires removed and my regular tires mounted as well as an oil change. I had an appointment for 12pm and was advised it would only take a couple hours. I called at 3:30pm to ask for the status of my vehicle and THEY HADN’T EVEN BROUGHT IT IN YET! I understand that times can be busy, but 3 1/2 hours later they still hadn’t touched my vehicle!!!! While on my way to pick it up and take my business elsewhere, the manager called me. He was “trying to smooth the water” by “getting it right in.” At this point I was furious and had things to do so I didn’t have “an extra hour” that they could work on my car so I refused. When I arrived there, there were 3 staff members in the parking lot socializing with a customer. If you have time to socialize, you had better make sure all your appointments are taken care of first!!!!

I have been visiting this store for years. The team members are always pleasant and cooperative to work with. They take the time to go out of their way to answer questions or show us what needs to be done. I find Chris and Ted to be very accommodating and never talk down to customers. I am most impressed by the professional manner in which the management works with people. I have been going to Mavis since moving to Oneida in 2013. From my first experience to present the service is consistent. The staff is friendly and courteous and keeps you informed. They find and apply available coupons to help with costs. I honestly do not trust my service with any other repair shop as Mavis has been that good.

Had a weird issue with tires on the front and rear passenger side while on vacation. Triple AAA couldnt even figure it out. Brought it to Mavis and the manager Ted helped me quickly. Called at 1030am to ask if I could come get a tire patched. They said they dont do appointments and to just come in. I showed up about an hour after and asked how long the wait would be. I was told thatd it be about two hours. I decided to wait there. Two and a half hours later I ask the manager about the status of the tire. He answered by saying he doesnt even have any idea of where I am on the list.. Great job. I asked him if he can give me a better idea of when theyd be able to get to the tire.. The response I got was another two hours at least and that I should call the tire place down the road. Save the trouble..next time just call the tire place down the road. 1 star based on experience, not service

The ABS/AWD/Trac lights have been coming on in my vehicle lately, so I was up by Mavis and stopped in to see if they could let me know what the problem was. The tech got me right in, he checked all the wheels to see if any of the wheel bearings were bad. All seemed tight and functional. He said that the left front wheel was indicating an issue, possible cracked/dirty sensor. He advised me of my options and possible remedies. While checking the car over he noticed that my battery terminal was badly damaged and that could possibly be part of/or the problem. So, Im going to start with that and go from there. Ive been a customer for many years and will continue to be. Great reliable service and care from a long time established business. Thank you Mavis.

Tried to give me the runaround about a supposed bad tie rod on the front end. It was replaced under a month ago, by Extreme, inspected again by Extreme today right before I went to Mavis. 1 stars for having an OK deal on brake pads 99 per axle, 2 stars for essentially scamming me out of the warranty on the front pads which they deem appropriate for a diagnostic mistake they’ve made. This is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for cheap, unreliable service.

Great deal on an oil change . Fast and courteous

Generally pretty good. You do have to pay attention to whats going on or you may end up fixing more than you planned to. Ask for an estimate and make it clear what you are there for. You dont always need brakes, rotors, pads and everything that goes with. Also, make sure you understand what they guarantee and for how long. You will find that its not much help unless you have your pads changed every 9 months, but they will tell you they dont need to be changed. Until your brakes are bad. Then they will tell you its the brakes and rotors. Not the pads. Lol. So. But they are as honest as any out there and they do good work pretty quick and are nice. Just keep your expectations in check. Its going to cost you $600 to $800 if you drive it in for brakes. Same for tires.

The staff were not only professional & courteous, but beyond my expectations in terms of service. My estimate took mere minutes over the phone. They turned out to the cheapest within 20 miles in every direction.I dropped my vehicle off @3 figuring to pick it up the next day, maybe the day after. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call@545 the same day saying the work was done. Not only that, but the shop would stay open past closing so I could pick it up the same day I dropped it off! Outstanding from start to finish...

Took my car in to get tires swapped over to my new rims. Took little over 3 hours to do knowing as someone who use to be in that feild it shouldnt take 3 hours. And the lack of traing some of the mechanics have because they dont torque tires to the specified torque specs required. All 4 of my tires were loose and i live right around the corner thank god they didnt come off while i left the shop. Made it home and torqued them myself.

I called for a tire problem and a heat shield rattle. Waited 15 minutes, got the car in and 20 minutes later I was fixed and on my way. Awesome service.

We ran into some trouble on our way home from a fishing trip while towing a boat. We stopped by Mavis on a Sunday right before they closed. They were the only shop open. Instead of blowing us off because they were closing, Robert got on the ground and crawled under our truck to check it out and give us piece of mind. Thank you so much Robert! We can feel safe driving the rest of the way home.

Taken my car to multiple places and they had fixed things on my car that didn’t need to be fixed and had cost me 1000s of dollars and never fixed the issue. I had brought it to ted and his crew and they had gotten down to the problem and fixed other things.

The staff did help me back to my truck with the wheel bearings and hubs that were very heavy. However, I needed wheel bearings pressed, that were not attached to the vehicle and they tried to charge me $216. I picked up the parts was able to find someone closer to home to do it for $50!

Loved the fact that while at the Rome location of Mavis they didnt try to hit me up with all these other problems with my van... I used to go to Midas and every time I went there for 1 or 2 fixes they would find a list of problems and tell me need to get them fixed... Mavis employee and I discussed 1 other problem I had with ABS and Traction Control and gonna cost alot less than expected...

Its hard because Im between a 3 and 4. I give it a 4 because of the customer service. I was there almost a month ago and was there about 2 hours, but there were some bigger jobs like 3 ahead of me. If you can make a reservation I would suggest that. It was a good deal oil change and I got my winter tires put on (Which they are on their own rims) for $26.00. You cant beat that

I stopped in on a Saturday morning without an appointment and they got me right in! Very friendly and helpful. Showed me what was wrong, listed options and asked me what I would like them to do. This kind of service keeps me coming back.

I was told that I would be needing new catalytic converters for my vehicle by a dealership, at a $3000 charge. Mavis/Cole Muffler checked out the vehicle and determined that it was only a bad O2 sensor and that I would have to bring it to another service garage because they would not be able to do that kind of work. Saved me a lot of money and they didnt even do the work. Definitely recommend them for any other services they do handle.

We have on several occasions taken our vehicles to Ted or Arin at this location.They have always treated me like family and been honest and through up front about any repairs needed and the cost of any repairs on our 5 vehicles.It is not easy to find honest mechanics you can trust and that will not rip you off.It is a relief to know we can trust this Mavis shop and dont get taken to the cleaners when our vehicles need some TLC.Thanks guys for all you do to keep our vehicles safe for travel, your honesty, and fair prices.

Very reasonable price and time for my brakes, they got me right in on a Sunday when most other places were closed, and their quote was much less than the places that were open. However, I got a price quote from them on some other work, and it turned out to be twice as much as 90 percent of the other shops I called. So I would recommend for brakes and such, but go elsewhere for more involved work or you will most likely be vastly overpaying.

In from out of town we found ourselves with a flat tire. Chris the Manager took us right in with good service. We were backo the road quickly!

Got an oil change, not much of a wait, actually, faster than I expected.

I brought my Jeep in December of 2017. February I took it to my normal mechanic to have the bearing replaced. My mechanic informed me that they had extremely over torqued the lug nuts and to take it back to have the situation corrected. (my mechanic had power tools, blow torch and breaker bar. It took him 3 hrs to remove 1 tire) My boyfriend also tried to remove the tires, bending all of his tools. I then attempted Walmart, who also could not even loosen the lug nuts. I called and brought the vehicle back to Mavis for a re-torque. I was informed that the problem was solved and charged $21.00. The problem was not solved. The lug nuts will still not come off and I now have to go back to Mavis for yet another charge to get them to fix this problem. I will never recommend this place to anyone I value as friend or family and am considering a report to the BBB.

I have went there twice now within a weeks time. Price was better then any other place I eave been ripped off at. Friendly employees and they were right in what needed to be fond. I have been looking for a shop to be a frequent Customer so far I didmt find one but now I feel good to say my car guys are Davis discount tire.Christina burns

Went in door snow tires service was excellent. Went in before that for noise in the right front. Good thing I did . found the sun frame was rotted through . replaced it . still had the noise took it back found out it was just something got into one of the joints they took care of it . my car is safe to drive and handles well . they bent over backwards to make sure . I may have spent more money than I wanted to . but things wear and break . I am not gonna complain about price when it could have gone undone and caused a bad accident . sorry some are not happy to hear bad news,like the previous comment . but it happens.

Ive been trusting my vehicles to this store location for exhausts, shocks and other non-dealership repairs, since 1978. The experience with each visit has been consistently satisfying to me. The waiting area and work environment always appears clean and the entire staff is courteous, respectful and quite knowledgeable in their job skills. Approximate wait-times are always given and over-selling tactics have hever been an issue. If they cant fix it there, they will explain why and suggest alternatives, rather than play guessing games that may create a safety risk. One final thing impresses me with the Oneida store. The managers and a majority of the mechanics have been there for several years. That feature alone, has to tell you something.

Dont try to rip you off. Always had work done well and the price reasonable.

Put in my car at 10:30, told finished in 1 to 2 hours at most. Told them all the problems plus expired inspection. At 12:30, called back, sorry your car has not been checked yet. I was furious. I needed the car in the PM. Would have gone to another place if they did not screw me and moved like a snail. Just heard worst story from my neighbor about this same place as I complained. Wont use this place again.

I needed muffler repair, which was under warranty. Also needed new shocks, reasonable price for shocks and installation. An overall positive experience, honest, fair prices, explained everything upfront. No surprises. Will definitely return.

Went in and told them I was hearing a sound come from the rear of my vehicle. I asked them to drive it down the road so they could hear the sound for themselves, they did NOT drive it. They brought it into the bay and 30 minutes later told me it was the right front bearing. I took them that that was not where the sound was coming from. They assured me that that was what the problem was. $300 later and the sound was still there. It took me bringing my vehicle back to them 3 times for them to tell me it was the bearing in the rear axel, which is where I said it was in the beginning. Will never go back to them because its obvious they just take a stab in the dark to fix a problem.Update 3/24/18 : Spoke with a regional manager, very helpful. My money was refunded with in 2 days.

These guys have always been upfront about what needs to be done on my vehicles. They have never tried to sell me something I didnt need. Their prices are always fair.
