This place is excellent! Its peaceful, beautiful, serene and the staff are wonderful. If you havent been here to get a sandwhich or smoothie or both, I highly reccomend giving this place a visit. No matter who you are, you will feel welcome and feel like you are at home here. This is a great place overall. I love it!
I stopped by The Yellow Deli on my way to the Vista botanical gardens this day. This restaurant has a nice patio area with gardens in the front and two floors of tables inside. They mostly serve sandwiches and I tried their Reuben with chips. Everyone seemed to be ordering their sweet potato pound cake, so something to give a try if you stop by.
The host told us it would be 45 minutes wait. So we sat and sat and watched how people went in even after us, finally 1 hour and 20 minutes later we are seated next to the door yuk..the host says when another table opens up well seat you somewhere else. Never did...I asked for another order of salad dressing, I had to get up and find the waiter to get it. I will never ever go back.
There’s a reason why the line is out the door and the wait can take a while. It’s because the food is the best and the service is incredible! Life is more laid back here. You really can feel their love and taste it in every bite! The ambiance is extremely unique and inviting. Every server has personality and loves their job. The Yellow Deli is a happy place to both eat at and be at. Learning about their culture was really interesting too.Their food really is incredible and my favorites are: The Deli Rose Sandwhich and the Vistacado. YOU MUST EAT DESSERT HERE!!!!! The pound cake and cream cheese cake 🍰 are out of this world delicious! The drinks are great too! The banana milk, the mate, the hot apple cider, the pina colada are a must, every time.Plan to eat a lot here because your taste buds will have you begging for more!
The restaurant is unique and cute and the food was good, however my husband and I went late at night and the service was pretty bad. When we got there, the server didnt greet us and left us standing there for a while before acknowledging us. He was nice enough but took about 20 minutes to bring just our drinks and despite it not being busy it was about an hour before we got our food which, by the way, was just a fruit salad. The whole time we were waiting we were contemplating telling them we didnt want our salad anymore and leaving. We could see the two employees that were there standing in the kitchen area laughing and joking. Salad was beautiful and delicious but the service was a no for us. We were sad with this experience because it was our second time there and we loved it last time we went.
What can I say - the Yellow Deli is absolutely an experience that is recommended to all.This place is so unique, warm and welcoming.The waiting staff are the nicest and humblest people youll meet.A lot of the food is sourced and grown by the Yellow Deli Community on their farm.Their menu is diverse with delicious, healthy and beautifully crafted entrees.I would absolutely recommend everyone come and check out the Yellow Deli and speak to the community members who will be serving you. They are truly wonderful people!
The sandwiches here are DELICIOUS! And you know what leaves an even better taste in your mouth? Seeing the check at the end...the prices are beyond reasonable!Beyond that the building is adorable!This place is such a gem!

My new favorite restaurant.I ordered the Reuben sandwich.Amazing. Probably the best sandwich Ive ever ate in my life.Not to mention the atmosphere of the entire place - I could best describe it as walking into an Irish influenced pub straight out of a J.R Tolkien storyDefinitely coming back!
This is the place that made me realize I had never had a good sandwich. I love their hot sandwiches and the rest of their food is well made and I believe largely local. Right now if you like Avocado the Vistacado is a great one. I have been coming here for 5+ years now. Do NOT come here if you need/expect fast or accurate service. They may mess up your order and they will be slow. But it is a wonderful, somewhat quiet and relaxing vibe a good place to spend 2-3 hours eating good food and chatting with family/friends.
This place is definitely not for everyone. The atmosphere and environment is very hippie like, but its really nice. The food is great and the prices are fair. I wouldnt recommend it to people who prefer a more established and official looking place
Nice place. Glad we tried it. Staff was friendly and courteous. Enjoyed my breakfast sandwich. My wife enjoyed the sandwich she ordered. The poached eggs looked perfectly cooked. We like this Vista Village area of restaurants and shops. Nice place to walk around before or after a meal.
It seems like the quality of their food has gone down ever since they changed the recipe for a few items. I used to always get the vista special with the cheesecake every time. Recently, I order the replacement (garden burger) and it seemed like the patty went bad it had a horrid smell and taste. As for the cheesecake, it’s much more creamy but too sweet (for someone who has a sweet tooth). Oh, and for the soup on the side for the burger, when I ordered to go they barely filled it 1/4 of the cup :( On the other side, the environment is still great as well as their green drinks
Ive loved coming to the Yellow Deli for years. Theyve been consistently great with high quality ingredients and they put so much effort into keeping quality at the center of what they do. Everything from the breads to teas and desserts are great and have healthy options. The tea bar upstairs has so many options and the staff is really knowledgeable about their products.I really appreciate their approach to slow food and bringing health focused dining to the culinary scene. This is not a place to go for a quick or rushed dinner, take your time and enjoy the experience.
Very comfy, very nice people and good food.
When we got there we couldnt find the host and when he finally showed up he had his drink in hand and just pointed at a table. It took about 10 minutes for our server to show up and ask for our drinks and then we never saw him again. We stopped another server and asked for water after waiting for about 40 minutes after ordering our iced teas. The food was good but it took another 15 minutes after finally getting our drinks that we finally got our food. We still never saw the server and when we stopped someone to ask for our check they couldnt find it and had to ask us what we ordered.
Always amazing. There usually is a wait and let me just tell you. IT IS WORTH IT. The food is all farm to table fresh and delicious. My go to is the create your own sandwich with turkey and an egg roll and the sub spread is delicious!! We usually follow it with desert and our favorite is the cream cheese pie with strawberries. The strawberry smoothie is fresh and delicious. I’ve literally never had a bad meal here. The customer service is usually great and everyone is very friendly.
If you are reading the reviews so you can decide if you should go or not: GO! You won’t regret it! The food is amazing, the chicken in the ranch sandwich is to die for and so is the deluxe hunny bun! This place is one of my favorites. The restaurant itself looks like a whimsical little cottage and the decor plays ago. You will feel like a fairy while you dine here, and the food is even better than the decor if you can believe that!
Like dining in the hundred acre woods. Cottage of dreams with beautiful details everywhere. The menu seldom changes but the options become favorites each time you go. Really great sandwiches and salads. Great place to sit and relax.

The menu is very varied although not too big. I understand that a lot of the food is grown by the people who have the restaurant so it is fresh and of good quality. I had an avocado and turkey sandwich. It was large with potato chips and had a generous filling. It was so enjoyable I ordered a salad and a different sandwich for out dinner. Service was pleasant and the price low. If it was closer to home I would be here regularly.

The vice in this place is very healing and healthy. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry. Relax and take it all in. Good fresh foods, sincere service and a wonderful story about the building and its history. Take a deep breath and just enjoy the energy. Best place to chill: upstairs on the porch by the water fountain. Or at the fire pits on a chilly night. Careful for the odd weekend hours!
Went during night time. It was a long wait but Im okay waiting. However, once we got our table, the server we got was rude, unprofessional and disrespectful to the max! It looked like a busy night and I was just trying to empathize with the guy saying busy night huh. I had no intentions of being demeaning or sarcastic. It was a sincere comment. The server got really upset and started to speak to me sarcastically. Saying, I work here everyday. Okay? I never said he didnt work at all. I meant the opposite he must be working super hard.Then he just stood there. It was the most awkward pause. So, we ordered our drinks. The server, still upset at me, started to make sarcastic comments about me to the table right NEXT to me! I was in shock. Throughout the whole night, he made the experience so uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Horrible customer service from that night.

This place will never disappoint you, great service really friendly staff, all their quality ingredients will make your food have a unique taste,their butter is just the best. I always get the cranberry cashew salad,very home style. One of my favorite teas is the mocha mint French press. For dessert you have to try their cheesecake is a must!!!!! super creamy !!!
Id heard about this place for months, and then I finally got the chance to go. It was fantastic! The food was great, the service was really nice, and the vibe of the restaurant was immaculate. Would (hopefully will) go again!!
The place itself is very interesting and well worth a walk-around either before or after your meal. The food and service was very good. We divided a lamb sandwich and cup of lentil soup - both highly recommended. Note that they do not have liqour or coffee on the menu. The place is run by a commune which gave it a different, but good, vibe.
Definitely not a cult or anything. Never seen emotionless replies back with eyes that scream for help at all. The adults in the back look rather young. 10 stars to child labor. food is the best. Coming back here soon.
This was my first time here and the place is so cute! the food is amazing and the service is very good! the lady who took our order was very sweet! definetly try the Mango Mate and i created my own sandwich but i’m sure everything is good!

Great clean food and drinks. Their Green drink and Green energy bars are winners! Artisan freshly baked bread and cookies too! Next door they sell their other products, I only use the deodorant they make.
This is a classic funky Vista restaurant. Really reasonable prices for really good food. Try the banana milk, the honey they add to it makes it taste just right.

I absolutely love the Yellow Deli. Their menu is. Mostly soups, salads, sandwiches, specialty teas and coffees and the most amazing desserts ever offered. This is a place to go if you have a little extra time. They dont rush the meal. Its a perfect pace. It makes you really slow down and start to appreciate the food that is presented to you. You can reflect on and experience in real time, as you eat, the deliciousness of farm to table, organically raised fresh ingredients. The milk has a yellow tint, you can tell it came straight from the cow! That is just one example of their freshness! Please come here; sit outside, come back, sit outside upstairs, eat in the main inside area, go up the spiral staircase and eat inside upstairs. The dim lighting is extremely fitting! The mood is perfect. These photos were from another hidden dining spot that the two of us enjoyed all to ourselves. Lucky! I lounged on the couches while waiting for our meal! XD

This place was great! I had the Cranberry Cashew 1/2 salad with the side of homemade bread and it was delicious! For dessert, coffee and homemade Carrot cake, again, just delicious! Prices were exceptional for the quality of food, outstanding service, and unique atmosphere. $24.00 lunch for two. To the Deli I say Go raibh maith agut! Thank you! See you next time Vista is on the schedule.

Excellent food that is fresh and made from quality ingredients. The bread that they make, in house, is so delicious. I always get the deli rose sandwich but I do miss when it used to be made with lamb instead of beef. Good place to get a yerba maté or other tea on a nice evening. Get the carrot cake for dessert.
Awesome food. Friendly staff. Beautiful dining areas inside and outside. Affordable. What more could you want? I recommend the Vistacado sandwich and a piece of Carrot Cake for desert!
The food and atmosphere are great. When I moved to the area I didn’t know the whole story about this place. The Yellow Delis across the country are the fundraising and recruitment arm for the 12 Tribes cult. If you are young, female, and go there alone often, they will try to recruit you. Just know that. Their literature is a available in the matte bar section of the building if you’re curious.
Great place to go for both vegans as well as non-vegans. I absolutely love their patio, its cute, quaint and incredibly inviting. I also really like their beverage selection. I find myself trying some new drink every time I go there. If you like root beer, I highly recommend trying theirs. They serve it in an ice cold mug and the top of the root beer starts to form a little ice as you begin to drink it.
DO NOT EAT HERE! I hada a server, Tahala, who wasnt wearing a mask and said she wasnt vaccinated. She was asked, politely, to put one one especially since the person I was with is elderly with a serious heart condition AND SHE REFUSED. Other servers were not wearing masks. Their website said all servers are required to wear a mask. Please help us all do our share to stop the spread of this virus and new variant.

This has been a favorite of mine for almost ten years. Now that I have moved to Northern California it is one of my first stops when I come home. Everything about this place is calming, comforting and enjoyable. The kind humans who work here are gracious, easy to talk to and leave you feeling like you are in a place full of love. The food is incredible, everything is made fresh and leaves you feeling so satisfied. If you stumble into this amazing restaurant you should also stop around the corner where they sell their baked good, teas and organic body products. The roasted bell pepper and asiago bread loaf is my favorite!

I recently met up with a friend over lunch and she suggested the Yellow Deli. We sat outside in a garden like atmosphere and enjoyed a great conversation over lunch made with very healthy ingredients. I had the wonderful veggie burger. I plan to introduce it to other friends.
The atmosphere is absolutely lovely. The food is tasty. The beverage choice is unique and interesting. The service is a little slow, and because there is extensive covered outside seating, heat lamps would be a great idea for when the fire pits are not burning. This is a cute gem in Vista that you shouldnt miss.

I have been going to Yellow Deli for years now and I am truly upset and disappointed with how much worse the service has gotten. I was told the wait for a table for 1 was 30 mins. After an hour, everyone who had arrived AFTER me was seated before me. I asked multiple times if they had an estimate on when I would be seated and they would give me very vague and insincere answers. There was also a huge lack of care, concern, or effort to help me out. I ended up leaving after being the LAST one outside waiting for a table. Another customer even acknowledged I was being treated unfairly!! I felt neglected, targeted (I am an Asian woman), and embarrassed after this incident and will not be returning to Yellow Deli.
First of all, this is not operated by a “cult”; they are a peaceful, loving people who follow a certain aspect of the Bible.Now....The food is AMAZING and the price is very reasonable! I got the cranberry/cashew salad with harvarti cheese and small tomatoes, and a bowl of their salmon (caught wild by their own staff!!!) chowder - man, talk about exceptional cuisine!We are not members of this place: my wife and I believe in Hinduism/Christianity - so this review is genuine.Be sure to try the place out, you’ll love!!!!
