Very good breakfast options. All my family were happy and pleased with their options.I didnt love the coffee flavor but everything else was good.I had a breakfast burrito. Good combination of vegetables and protein. I love the fresh hash browns.Husband and cousins had the Angry Irishman it was very good. Just be careful of you are not used to super spicy flavors, it is raw jalapeno. We really liked it.We shared a caramel macchiato pancakes. It is a very good combination, I would just like the toppings to be on each layer of the pancakes bc just having them on the top was not enough for all the pancakes :)And my friend had a Mediterranean avocado toast, it looked good and she liked it.We will definitely return when we are around Overland Park.

Their vegan tofu scramble is so good, you should just plan to eat breakfast 2 days in a row, because its all youll think about! For $7 you can get a tofu scramble burrito with a side of perfectly crispy hashbrowns...BUT for only $2 more, you can add a SECOND BURRITO! GET 2 BURRITOS! They also have an incredible falafel burger on pretzel bun, avocado toast (we got the pico on the side), and delicious vegan Tiramisu!!

So disgusted. Looks like I was here 11 months ago and gave 3 out of 5 stars. Well today Im here with my children. It just happened to be nearby my destination this morning. Walking in we got looks from the people like where do those black folks think they are going. Still came in. Wasnt greeted as we sat at a table. The menus and silverware were just dropped next to each of us. The waiter was clearly short with us versus the tone and attitude given to my table. My 7 year old was starving or I would have left. This attitude is continuing as I speak and Im trying hard not to vocalize it. So im putting in my review now. I dont anticipate it getting any better. Its sickening to watch this happy attitude with all the white folks, but we get a short to the point and annoyed attitude. Asked about a menu item while ordering and I got a tone like I shouldnt be asking questions. This is ridiculous. Shame. The menu looks good and a bit unique.

I was a fan of the sunrise burger. Thats a five star meal by itself. My daughter wasnt big on the biscuits and gravy, but loved the Carmel macchiato pancakes. Both of my children loved the tots. The staff was very friendly and gave great advice on locations to have fun with family.

Came in with my sister from out of town. I always drive by and decided to try it out because my sister wanted to go out to breakfast. First impression was bad. Nobody greeted us and then we were told to sit at a dirty table. We sat very close to the “kitchen” (everything is in the same room). Our waiter was incompetent and looked like he hadn’t had a shower in the past month. They were pouring dirty dishes (drinks) into the drink machine ice tray instead of taking it to the back dishwasher. That was disgusting because it was splashing onto the stack of clean cups. The one waitress who was working seemed like she was new to the restaurant but she also seemed like the only one who was doing their job correctly and not being incredibly nasty. Food was horrible. We got the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were sour, almost inedible. The gravy had little to no sausage in it and was extremely bland.The grand total for this nightmare was $56. I will not be coming back. I don’t know how this place has been open for some 12 years or whatever but it’s filthy, food is bad, customer service bad. You need an inspector to come, food safety training needs to be done, and the thing that shocks me the most is that the owner was standing there watching this happen the entire time.

Cute, comfortable, and cozy feel. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was friendly. Got us seated in 5 minutes even though they were busy. Although, I wasnt too much of a fan of what I ordered, the hash browns were great. Ill definitely be returning to try out some of the other items on the menu!

Hands down the best breakfast weve had in a long time. We had the breakfast burritos and pancakes. So delicious! The staff was very personable and attentive and the seating was comfortable. The comment from another reviewer about this place being expensive is crazy. It cost us 47$ for 4 people which is amazing. We would have happily paid more. Thank you!

Small space, so there is limited seating. Food was good and prices reasonable. Staff very friendly. Didnt really dig the pancakes. Cant quite put my finger on what they use in the batter, but would not order them again. That being said, I would go back as the rest of the meal was tasty.

I had my first experience with the wooden spoon for lunch. It was, by far, one of the best burgers I have consumed in a long time. I highly recommend the signature burger. I will definitely be going back soon.

I came here for lunch and the service was very quick. I assume I spoke with the owner and he was very kind and funny. It didnt feel like I was out at a restaurant as just at a friends house having lunch.The food was delicious serving both breakfast and lunch. Open kitchen so you can see how things are prepared. We went on a Saturday mid morning. My wife had a breakfast burrito and I had the biscuits and gravy meal. The burrito was just ok. The gravy is very off putting in taste. It was odd tasting and the biscuits were like cardboard. Hashbrows and eggs were done correctly. The service was fine and the manager did notice that we only took one bite if the biscuit and took that off my check. Nice move there. We will give it another try based solely on that action that was great customer service.

Ordered a curbside breakfast of biscuits and gravy and hash browns. It was good but a little bland on flavor. I wish a little salt and pepper packet were included. Im betting it might have been better. I dont think Im used to bacon in my gravy. That was new. I also had to drive back because they forgot eating utensils and biscuits and gravy are hard to eat without them. The man who brought them out felt bad. I wasnt upset. I was glad I didnt get too far. Id definitely come again and try different things.

Friendly and attentive staff, small strip mall location with seating for 26, sticky floors. I ordered French Toast with a side of bacon. The French Toast had a good flavor but the bacon seemed like it had been sitting all morning. It was very reasonably priced, two of us got out of there for $20.

My adult daughter and I had a great experience at The Wooden Spoon. It is now definitely on our list of best go to places for breakfast or coffee drinks. Warm welcoming and homey feel. It was great.

I ordered the veggie hash brown casserole with french toast came with choice of bacon or egg and I had coffee as my drink. Casserole was enjoyable. French toast was a too dry for my taste, guess Im used to my fathers cooking (he was a cook for Huck Finn Donuts in Chicago). Bacon was too crispy almost burnt, I shouldve mentioned how I wanted my bacon, well-done. The server was extremely nice, I appreciate his kindness in helping me pick a meal. Owner seems very sociable. The two people I sat with were asked for a refill of their coffee not once but twice and not once was I asked. I asked for water and they never brought it to me. I dont like to ask twice for something specially something as simple as water. Thats fine though. This was my second visit. Id probably go again only because my first visit was great and I loved the pancakes I ate that time, and my coffee was constantly refilled and I was served water without asking. Thank you.

Today 06/08/2021, I went to this restaurant, the food was delicious, the cooker was exelent, but the waiters attention was terrible, I had to ask him 2 times to take care of me and my family, he ignored my daughter when she asked him if it was going to take too long, I dont know if he didnt want to attend me because the restaurant was not busy at all and he just made excuses not to take care of me ... bad for him.

Great place for breakfast just like Grandma used to make! The food is great and really affordable. I love the Panwich but be warned the portions are big! The owner is super friendly and helps wait tables. Its a really small restaurant so not great for big parties. Be prepared for a bit of a wait on weekends- but its definitely worth it!

Visited the wooden spoon for the first time, wanted to try a new place and so happy we did, not only is the food fantastic and makes you wanna go back for more, the owners were wonderful as well, kinda made each customer feel like family and thats a rare thing these days. Although its a small place its so worth checking out if you havent already, I know Id go back in a heartbeat.

Wow! The food and service here are great. I had the Classic American Breakfast and it was the best Ive ever eaten in a restaurant. Eggs, hash browns and sausage patties were excellent. The large sourdough bread was icing on the cake so to speak. This establishment may not be huge but the tastes of their menu items my dad and I experienced are gigantic. Wayne and Tina are a hoot to boot!! The Boss & I having come to Kansas City to see the Son & Heir / His Family. (I have the cutest Granddaughter in the World) Plus to see the Cubs stomp the Royals. I decided to go & get some breakfast for the Boss. So after spying this little eatery. We decided to give it a shot. It was a very good choice, if I say so myself.

The double breakfast burrito with hash-browns is good enough for two and it was glorious with chorizo!

Unsavory hours for those of us who hate waking up on time, but very savory food.

Almost 40 minutes after order got my small order of biscuits and gravy. 4 people who arrived 10-20 minutes after me got and finished their food before I got mine. I was out of tea for 10 minutes before I got a refill. Finished my food, and it was good, but I then put charge card on the table. She dropped bill on table on top of mybcharge card and never came back. Finally dug out cash and left on table. Another patron had put his charge card in the payment/receipt book 10 minutes earlier and spent that whole ten minutes waving at her. She would bus tables rather than check on her customers. Customer next to me sent coffee back as something was floating in it. It was 30 degrees outside and there is no wind break so everyone was bundled up as they apparently dont want to heat the restaurant in the winter.

Excellent food! Although place needs some remodeling. Service was fast. We loved our veggie casserole, French toast and awesome pancake!Restaurant owner was talking with each and every customer.. but he didn’t speak with us, no smile nothing, neither anyone asked us how was food.. Anyway.. food was good .. which only mattered at the moment.

I got French toast and it was wonderful, they even went out of their way to make gluten free pancakes for another person in my group.Not much of a seating area it is small, but definitely worth it. Good comfortable atmosphere, its not a chain restaurant so everything feels personal (in a good way). the attitude and customer service of the owners is enough to make you want to come back just to order water. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast places

Everything about this place is great! The prices for the amount of food you get are perfect, and the breakfast burrito was delicious. The atmosphere is very casual, and great for a quick but filling breakfast. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. Ill definitely visit here again!
