John was awesome to work with! We made it clear that we wanted to stay close to the $2,500 allowance from our builder. John never pushed us to go over what we wanted. I was blown away by John’s professional attitude, attention to detail, and impeccable taste. He knew our floor plan and helped us pick lights that filled the space nicely. The cost while building can easily get away from you. We picked some inexpensive lights that we plan on replacing for over our kitchen island, master bedroom, and bathrooms. John had some recommendations to help us save in certain areas and splurge in other areas with higher ceilings that would make the fixtures hard to change in the future. We did end up spending over $1,000 more than our allowance because John had good suggestions. John showed us things in our price range before he showed us more expensive options. I’ve already recommended John to two people today.I’ve spent my entire career in sales. John delivered top notch service today.

Did an outstanding on the installation of lights in our new home in 2018, but the LED fixtures which were supposed to last 10 years are going out, replaced 3 in Masterbath in late 2020, only have another go out. I called the service Departments a month ago and was promised a call back because he was out to lunch at 2PM? Never heard back called again today at 1030 AM was told the same thing, guess what no call either! Poor customer service for sure!!

I went there for lamp repair. If you do not purchase anything they treat you differently. The guy said we don’t repair lamps. I was interested in beautiful figures but I did not buy and I will not go there again.

We built our home and outfitted it with 100% of fixtures from Wilson. Recently we had a glass panel on one of our exterior lantern lights break. I called and was thankful to find out that Wilson had the replacement glass in stock. I was quoted the price of $95.00 over the phone by a young man named Parker. I inquired about shipping the item or having a sales/delivery person bring the item to our neighborhood as there is a lot of new construction and I see the Wilson Lighting van in our neighborhood weekly. He advised that wasnt possible. So the next day I drove 40-minutes to pick-up the glass. The same young man who I spoke to over the phone, Parker helped me. All was well except the replacement glass actually cost me $113.73 before tax. When I noted to Parker that he had quoted me $95.00 on the phone he said Im not sure, maybe the price went up? I said in 24-hours the price increased? I paid and left, but needless to say I will not be returning to Wilson for any future repairs or lighting. Clearly being honest and customer service is not their strong suite.UPDATE: I was pleased to receive a call from Bobby Wilson. He was very professional and sincere in his apology for my experience above. He went above and beyond to send a service associate from Wilson Lighting to help me install the piece of glass I purchased to repair my exterior light as well as mail me a gift certificate for future use in his store. While my experience with a new associate was less than enjoyable, Mr. Wilson has restored my belief that Wilson Lighting has not only great selections in the variety of lighting they offer, but also incredible customer service.

It has a great selection of very beautiful on-trend lighting.

Its hit or miss on what kind of sales person you get. You either get one who is awesome or one who is completely bothered by your presence. Prices are very high. The selection is pretty good but everything is so randomly organized that its difficult to keep straight where you saw what you liked in the store after youve moved on to look at other options. We did buy lovely lights from them but when I look at them installed I just dont see $400 per sconce which is what they cost.

Lots of lights, however I found the perfect ones on Lamps Plus, Overstock and Amazon.

The customer service after the sale was very poor; phone manners at the store level, invoice without item numbers and descriptions, salesperson not returning phone calls, and her failed attempts to get the work order to the installer, that part took five weeks. The day I picked up (not trusting a proper delivery) the eight units for installation, I asked for the owner; he was not in yet. Response to the response... Yes, the owner reached out and was very receptive, yes I will be a returning customer!

On October 7th we went to Wilson Lighting to find a new chandelier. This store has a fantastic selection and excellent customer service. We were lucky enough to have manager Kathleen Brennan pick out the perfect light for our home. Thank you Kathleen for all you did for us!

Purchased our lights for our home just recently. Paid for them. The initial first visit went well, sales rep spent plenty of time with us and was very helpful. After the sale it has been very different. It has not been good at all. We have called the sales rep several times and left voice mail messages and never a return call. A few issues, a call into Wilson for our sales rep and still no return calls. Thats such an important part of offering good customer service, what happens after the sale. Not good here.

Great Service from Mazen!We bought two chandeliers, two pendants, a vanity light and a new ceiling fan for our kitchen remodel. Mazen was super helpful in showing us our options so he could get a feel for our taste. We returned the next day to ask a few more questions before finalizing our decisions. We made an appointment for a third day to place our purchases with him. Great service. He was very knowledgeable on the products and advising us on our questions. I guess this review would be for the manager or owner. This morning around 10:30 I when into the overland park store for a white exterior ceiling fan, walked up to the desk to a gentlemen who seemed too busy to talk but eventually asked if he could help, without going into great detail he was no help, now Ive bought thousands of dollars of items over 27 years here and have always had good service. I really thought a simple white fan would be a no brainer, should have been able to walk in and walk out with one but instead ended up just walking out, I can get that kind of service at any big box store. He really wasnt interested in the interruption is all I can come up with, I guess too small of a sale.

Great selection of lights and fans. Found some very cool pieces for my rehab project that I wouldnt have been able to get anywhere else. Sales staff was very helpful and helped me think through what kind of fixtures to use. Highly recommend.

Usually people tend to post negativity to which is not the case here. We had a situation where we needed 2 unique screws to repair a ceiling fan for a customer. This team went out of their way to find us a match and charged us $0. They absolutely did not have to do that and could have easily attempted to sell us a fan. Thanks for all you do!

I really want to love this place. There is a decent variety, it’s family owned, and the staff is pretty great. I went to their website to see what else I could find and there is a ton that they offer. The KC location is apparently their original location, and it shows. But not in the way you’d expect from a flagship location. The showroom doesn’t look so much “fabulous” as it does “falling apart”. I have a hard time trusting a company’s quality control when there are holes in the walls everywhere you look and the freshest coat of paint in the place is jungle green! You know that feeling when you’re shopping at TJ Maxx and you find a great Calvin Klein gown... it’s like that! The amazing pieces are there. They’re just surrounded by the rabble. It’s sad that a family owned business doesn’t take more pride in their original store.

Great selection of lighting from traditional to contemporary. They also have art work, mirrors, some furniture and accessories. Layne is my designer and he has a great eye for contemporary lighting.

I really enjoyed this store. They had a good selection, had to walk through several times just to see everything (there is so much). Quintin was helping us and was great. I found lights for my next project and mirrors for the current project. - Great Store.

I was off to a rocky start with this business but after speaking with Cathy at Wilson, she has made things much better and she took the time to constantly keep me updated on what was going on with my order. Customer service is second to none. If you are used to big box stores, you will be shocked. Be prepared to feel like a VIP.I have an LED driver that I believe went bad. I walked up to the desk and asked to buy a replacement. They call the warehouse (in the back of the same building) and ask for the part to be delivered to the front desk. The owner overhears the conversation and engages me to learn more as he finds it strange for the unit to go bad for its age. He asks some questions and decides to try a new unit but gives me his number and offers to walk through troubleshooting with me if the new driver doesnt solve the problem.

Excellent service and selection. My wife and I came in on a Saturday afternoon to pick out a ceiling fan for our Great Room. The sales person was very helpful and we had a new fan picked out in 15 minutes.

Im an electrician and Ive had many builders purchase fans and fixtures from Wilsons but I personally had never been there.Yesterday I had a customer take me for a ride to Wilsons and I can now say that I see why so many builders make this their go to place. The prices on fans where quite reasonable and their selection I believe is second to none in the Kansas City area. I would highly recommend visiting here before you even look at Home Depot or Lowes.

We came in looking to replace a finial and a machine screw that came off the bathroom vanity in our RV during travel. The light was hanging on by just a wire. We are visiting from Florida so we didnt know where to go. An employee at Home Depot referred us to Wilson Lighting and we are so happy she did!A young man at the service desk at Wilson Lighting took the finial we were trying to match back to the stores parts room. He returned after ten minutes or less with a couple of screws that fit our finial and a couple of end caps. The end caps were not pretty things but they would hold our light in place until I could order something from an RV supplier! I was happy since the tiny holes on the finial were proving to be not a standard size and nobody seemed to have anything that would fit. I asked the young man how much for the parts. He said they were spare parts and that they were FREE! He suggested that next time we needed bulbs or lighting, perhaps we could return to their store. Since we are not from the area, that is unlikely. However. I can leave this post to let everyone in the area know about the extra mile the young man at Wilson Lighting went to for us.

I shopped at this location on 10/1/2018 around 5:30pm. There were several employees on the floor but no one greeted me or asked if I needed help. I was shopping for fixtures for 2 bedrooms, a dining room,, a kitchen, and 2 outdoor. After wandering around the store for 20 minutes with no interaction, I left. Wilson has quite a selection and I appreciate being able to see the fixtures. However, customer service at this location is 0 stars. Really disappointing, but Ill be purchasing my fixtures at a retailer who values customers.

What they stock is similar to what other lighting showrooms in the area have. I have had good and not so good experiences there, best advice? Have an idea of what you want before you go or else you will pay too much.

This was my first time in the store and boy was I pleasantly surprised! I was greeted warmly when I entered and asked how they could help. After walking around the entire store I went back upfront with a few questions. Within moments Lunette Albertson appeared and pleasantly answered my questions, and more. She was the warmest store interaction I had that day. KUDOS Lunette!

My husband and I went to Wilson Lighting this evening to look over their selection. We were there for 40 minutes and saw lots of employees, but not a single one ever greeted us, offered to help, or even made eye contact with us! They actually looked away when they walked by so they would not have to acknowledge they saw us, even those who were not busy with other customers. In fact, the only ones obviously working with customers appeared to be designers people brought with them. Funny, but not really. Some of their lighting fixtures may have ended up in our home, but no. We will not be back.

This store has amazing light fixtures, unfortunately their customer service is absolutely awful. After walking around the store for over 30 minutes, not one person asked us if we could be helped. In fact, I saw multiple employees sitting at their desks, not one greeted us, or asked if we needed help. I ended up asking a gentleman that worked here for help with some questions I had, and he seemed bothered by me approaching him. He quickly answered my question and left. To be honest, I was shocked! As a business owner myself, I hate giving bad reviews, but I was baffled that employees here would treat customers in this manor. I left and will be taking my business elsewhere.

While the showroom is somewhat eclectic, my wife and I were assisted after a short amount of time on a Saturday by a very knowledgeable salesman who helped us make a selection of lighting for our kitchen remodel. We were very pleased, and will return for our future lighting needs.

The individual that waited on me was extremely helpful. I was looking for a certain part to install a light on an angled ceiling. I was offered different options and scenarios to install my fixture.

I went to inquire about how long it would take to get a ceiling fan if I purchased it from here. After I waited almost 30 minutes to talk to a salesperson, they wouldnt even look it up and told me to check with the manufacturer.

We had to use Wilson as part of a builder agreement. It was a wholly disappointing experience. I worked with someone named Deb that made it clear she was both exhausted and hadnt had a break all day. Another salesperson was eating disgusting smelling Mcdonalds food right out on the sales floor. The entire process made me feel like I was a burden to this poor woman. When we finally moved in, one of our lights has chipped glass in the rim - and two ceiling fans have missing remotes. Of course, Wilson blames the builder (he isnt at fault - I was present at delivery and installation. The basic deal is to that there are so many better options in Kansas City - both in terms of client service and standing by a product.

Been looking for lights for months to update our house. They had a great selection and outstanding customer service.

Good selection and good advice

As a homebuyer, this was the vendor for my contractor. Selecting options in store went ok, but we didnt find everything we were wanting so left a few fixtures undecided. Couple of things we were informed about when doing so. 1) If we changed our mind after our fixtures were installed it would be a 15% restocking fee, and 2) we could browse their website to find the remaining items. The website was abysmal and you cant find the in-store items. A few items we selected we were later informed were discontinued. We did finally manage to find a few items though. Since this was part of the homebuying, they directly installed the lights during the construction. Once we saw them in person we didnt like them and wanted to return them. This is the point they informed us that these items had to be externally sourced and since they were installed, they would charge us a 40% restocking fee. Ridiculous! Ive had far superior service and cost with non-specialty online retailers that carried similar stock. If you get stuck with this vendor through your homebuilder, I highly recommend you request a new vendor. They may be friendly to the builder, but that service doesnt extend to the homebuyer.

I waited 10 minutes and he never returned and none of the other workers in the area ever asked if I needed assistance. I left the store without making a purchase and will NEVER return. Make sure you schedule an appointment well in advance. The place gets packed on the weekends. Dont expect to see your lighting consultant between their meetings if you need to drop in quick and make a light adjustment. If you pick a special order light, make sure they verify that your chosen light is in stock before you leave.
