I just overheard a guy by the name of Matt from Snead Island Boat Works talking to a friend of mine on the phone. Since when is it okay to call your customer a liar and a thief? My friends boat went in to this shop and came out not repaired and with more damage than it came in with. Definitely not an establishment I would recommend

They charged $146 to snap on two canvas Hatch covers and when I questioned the charge, the Manager, Matt, told me they didnt need my business and I should take my Boat elsewhere.

Snead Island indicated the best option for cleaning my boat, acid wash, not painting since I was planning to store it in a high and dry. After it was attempted the boat did not get clean as it was promised. They left out a large portion, with numerous clam shells, near the transom and provided pictures that did not include this area. They promised they had a new product that could do the job but then stated that the product did not arrive. They returned the boat to me and I will have to get it redone and painted since they provided me with the wrong advice and did not clean the areas for which I needed completed. I was not able to see the bottom of the boat upon pickup and they had already placed it in the water so I could not see the portions that were left untouched. Will not use them again. I was not happy with the work or how I was treated.

Fine work done in less than 2 weeks, to sand, prep and apply new anti-foul paint, step the mast and place my 36 sailboat in the water. I will be back.

Wonderful family run business that goes above and beyond for their customers. Quality work product and facilities. Very knowledgeable staff that works with you, whatever your needs might be. Would highly recommend for boat repair, maintenance and storage.

Personally did not use services; however was dropping a friend off and spent several hours observing work. Staff was very helpful. Also observed very high quality work going on. Not sure about costs.

My experience with the great Staff and team at SIBW has and continues to be amazing. They are very professional, always willing to go beyond the call of duty and operate with great character and integrity. I recommend SIBW to anyone and everyone. They are truly special and wonderful.

I hesitate writing this negative review because normally I don’t like to be negative, but I feel like people should know what type of place Snead Island Boat Works is. We have a 37 foot sailboat and I’ve lived in Florida for 25 years. We took it to Snead Island Boat Works for the bottom to be repainted and her new electronics. $30,000 later, our sailboat was finally ready, but much, much later than we were told it would be ready (and at a much greater cost)! The work that they did was shoddy, to say the least. Several things on the boat were broken and they did not do several things that we had asked them to do. In order to sell us high end electronics, they lied about what the product could do and we only found out after it was installed and paid for. On top of that, they kept taking pictures and sending it to us of things that needed to be fixed on the boat, but the only problem was the pictures were not of our boat. We told them that several times but they finally said well, “too late now we’ve already fixed it and it was from your boat so you owe us money”. I feel like this is a scam organization and I wish I’d known earlier because I would’ve never sent our sailboat to them. When I brought up my concerns to Matt Matthews who works there, he got very belligerent and rude and after much fighting (And I told them they would not get their final payment if they didn’t repair what they broke at least ), they agreed to come to the house to fix a few things that they had broken, but most of the items they refused to fix. We still don’t know the extent of the damage they did to our sailboat. And when I spoke to the company that cleans the bottom of our boat who have been in business in the area for many, many years, they relayed to me that this was not the first time they heard of Snead Island boat Works scamming a customer. In fact, they said that it happens quite frequently at Snead Island and they would never recommend that place to anyone. I wish I had spoken to them before bringing our sailboat there. At what it costs to maintain any boat, it would be worth a consumers best judgment to stay far away from Snead Island Boat Works and find another marina to do business with!

Best yard on Fl west coast. Great people and very professional.

They may not be the cheapest boat yard in the area, but they make other boat yards in the area look like amateur hour. I would recommend Snead Island Boat Works to a friend if they were looking for quality work at a fair price, albeit not the cheapest.

Great response on refit pricing for old vessel

I have been using Snead Island for my boat since 2004. They always do an exceptional job. The staff is professional and knowledgeable. They definitely take pride in their work. I highly recommend.
