As I walked into the shop from the patio today just before 1:00, I tripped on the angled entrance and sprawled face down on the floor. No one came over to help me. It took me a few minutes to get up. Finally a Verve employee came over and asked if I was OK. Someone from Verve should have come over sooner. I was on the floor in plain sight. I’d suggest that Verve give their employees additional training in customer service. Just as importantly, Verve should fix or reconfigure the pass through from the patio into the shop.
Theyre still figuring some stuff out, but the coffee is still top notch.Ambiance is nice, with a decent amount of seating. Its super bright inside, and has a modern / sleek decor. Some outdoor seating, with maybe more coming as some construction is still happening.Kitchen closes at 2PM, so I didnt get to try it but the coffee was great and the latte art needs some work still 😅Overall its a great Verve location just like all the others. This will give the nearby Blue Bottle a run for its money!
Nice place to stop by if you are in Palo Alto downtown! Handcraft drinks are amazing. I had one holiday drink named as Whisky latte (alcohol free) which is really amazing! There are tables available for reading and working, BGM is also peaceful. Street parking and walk distance parking lot are available.
5 stars for food and tea (the bowl of soul is awesome!) but 3 stars for seating. To clarify, they have a ton of indoor and outdoor seating, and the space itself is really nice. But, to me, at least, all of their seating is just shy of being actually comfortable. So the chairs are too short for the tables, or there are bars attaching the tables to benches that are in the way of your legs, or the glass window at the side makes the area really hot in the afternoon. Also, they dont have outlets!I think they designed a space that is meant to look inviting and comfortable but is actually a little off, so people dont spend more than a couple of hours working here.
Great place with a great environment! The barista was very nice in educating me about the different options and making sure that I enjoyed my drink. Will come back next time Im in the area!
Love the staff, coffee, and environment.be aware though- this place doesn’t have any power outlets so be sure to charge your laptop before visiting!
Verve has great coffee, atmosphere and patisserie. Hoping they open indoors soon again so i can gawk at their plants 🪴 the outdoor seating area isn’t really cozy or in the best spot of dt pa. We usually drink our coffee with the local homeless and have witnessed them peeing in bottles in their seating area or yelling at pedestrians about who knows what. For this reason I usually pick up to go and zoom out of there. Their choc croissants are the best!
Ordered quick cups but one of their machines was broken. They served us some tasty Americanos instead and gave us complimentary drink coupons. Really friendly here staff who go above and beyond.
The attention to every detail in the interior, service and quality makes this one of my favorite coffee shops in the Bay Area. The coffee is exceptional!
Nice space with ample seating indoors and outdoors.Coffees are priced reasonably and they taste really good.Love the greenery that surrounds the indoors.WiFi is available as well, so take some time and indulge in the atmosphere.Probably one of the best cafes in Palo Alto!Great job Verve!Recommend Strongly!
The coffee here is good but there’s no place to charge your laptop and the space is limited
They have a great selection of tea and coffee and a very relaxing atmosphere complemented by ample seating and options for indoor (pre-pandemic) and outdoor enjoyment. Its an excellent place to meet with friends, do work, or just relax.
Very nice coffee shop in DT Palo Alto with spacious seating indoors and patio outside.I dropped in for some coffee, ordering their pour-over of Guatemala (flavors of watermelon, apple notes) and their nitro flash. I noticed they were a new shop, and very hyped over Instagram. It takes a few minutes when ordering their pour overs since they have to prep it, whereas their nitroflash is on tap! The coffee was light and a bit of tangy, I loved the set up of my drink where they put it in a mini pitcher to refill my glass. My friend thought the nitroflash tasted like beer? I definitely think it tastes different than other nitro cold brews from other coffee shops, but not in a horrible way? Just different.I enjoyed my experience at this new coffee shop in the area, even though I got constant stares at from the workers when taking pictures haha!!
Very cute little spot. Wish I lived closer so I could come more often. Staff is so friendly!
Great coffee and tea! Wished they had more seating indoors and plenty of outdoor seating.
Great really good tasting and strong coffee. Good service. In I recommend it a having a couple of cups. Ok bet you will enjoy it.
REAL SLICK ! I thought I would make the drive from our airbnb in San Jose to Palto Alto last Wednesday while my wife was busy training staff in Silicon Valley. Specifically to try the coffee at Verve Coffee Roasters fairly new location in the main drag of downtown. I hit a heap of traffic on the freeway but eventually got here about 11.30am. They even have free 2 hour parking spots in the street here. So the Verve Coffee shop is situated on a corner adjacent to a cool looking public park / chill out area...kinda nice ! I waltzed in the main entrance on University Ave and had a bit of a look...first at what varieties of whole roasted coffee beans they had on the shelf. I was looking for one in particular.......Buena Vista a dark roast which is our preference. This one had tones of SMores - Dark Chocolate - Caramelized. BAD LUCK because they had zero in stock. Buena Vista is their best seller so the dude named Brian behind the service counter told me. Ok so I ordered a hot latte with 2% milk in a porcelain cup, a pre-made Prosciutto Sandwich from the display case, a 12 oz bag of Seabright whole roasted coffee beans.....my preferred choice from what they had in stock. It read tones of Chocolate - Toasted Coconut - Fudgy so it might be alright even though its a medium roast. Oh and a dirty big Chocolate Raisin Walnut Cookie to take back to my wife. We shared it on the plane trip home and it was VERY good ! I paid and Zachary at the cashier counter handed me my huge Prosciutto Sandwich made on a nice looking baguette plus my big cookie in a to go paper bag. The place was pretty packed out with lap toppers but I managed to find a space at a countertop overlooking the cool outdoor park space. My latte was ready in a few minutes and the barista Ryan called out my name to retrieve it. So no table service whatsoever with this model ! My latte looked pretty decent with the atypical latte art ( they were using THE 1950 blend today ) and was a nice texture though it tasted pretty mild. I got stuck into my Prosciutto Sandwich.....very chewy so I dont know if that was the intended texture or if maybe it was a few hours old. The ingredients tasted pretty good and I managed to finish about 2 thirds of it. Would I come back here ? Probably not because the place had no personality and didnt feel welcoming to me. Im not a fan of sterile places !
Ive only had their mochaIt was ok but the 6 Dollars for their medium size isnt great.
One of the best coffee places in the Bay.
Cant go wrong with Verve. You just have to weather the high price for any cup of coffee and a long wait. Baristas take their sweet time in making drinks.
Pretty decent place and good coffee ☕
Nice looking place. Service is poor. No power outlets as well.
Long, very slow line. Expensive. Drink was wrong and almost cold after waiting ages. Go somewhere else.
Best coffee in Palo Alto, the 🥑 toast is also great.
Good coffee, friendly staff, nice atmosphere
Heard about this cafe and was disappointed The ambience was good, service was ok . We ordered, Macchiato ( Espresso with dash frothy steamed milk ), Cappuccino, and Parmesan sconeThe flavour and taste of Macchiato and cappuccino was same. The difference is a macchiato usually has a larger portion of espresso to milk. As such, the taste of the coffee is much more prominent than a cappuccino, which not only has milk but steamed milk on the top as well.I could not differentiate them what they served and the scone was tasting good
Good location, ambiance and great coffee. Its well located for being on the main street and one can find parking relatively easily. There is good outdoor seating which is very good in todays constrained environment.
Decent coffee, though it is highly dependent on who makes your coffee. We ordered our coffee for here, and everything came in boxes and to-go cups. Our lattes were weak. I feel our experience here is maybe a half step up from going to a Starbucks other than the nice outdoor seating space they have here.
Weve been brewing Verve at home for 10 years, my wife owns a small cafe and she serves Verve coffee there, just amazes me that an actual Verve coffee shop does such a bad job of brewing their own coffee.Church st Shop in SF and the original in Santa Cruz are so much better than the Palo Alto. Verve quality control people are failing at this location.
Good coffee and service. Gets busy on nice days
Best coffee in town for sure, it’s a wow experience!
Great ambience and patio, good crowds. Coffee is superb, but the quality is not consistent, which is not acceptable at the price tag. The same goes for the staff - some are extremely courteous and polite, some less so. In the pre-COVID era, it was difficult to work there because there are no electric plugs. Overall, good and I will keep visiting from time to time, but had it not been for the lines, I would prefer Blue Bottle anytime.
Great place for chilling 😃 all staffs are friendly and coffee tastes awesome
Ordered oat milk latte and it’s very sour. Didn’t really taste out oat flavor. I’ve heard very nice words about Verve but it was quite disappointing.
Awesome coffee - super consistently good. I love that they have a gluten free muffin from Manresa. Wish they had one more option and that they had gluten free bread for their avocado toast. It looks SO good, and my husband loves it.
Verve knows how to roast beans. Ive never had a bad cup here.
Ordered an oat milk latte and got a single shot latte that was extremely rancid, mostly due to spoilt oat milk.
Cons:- Can’t pick sort of coffee. only very acidic one:(- there is no charger at all! How come, guys!?- very pricy. Oat latte with $1 tips costs ~ $7.5 (srsly?). I’ve never drunk more expensive coffee.Sum up: I pay money one want get a service. At least - charger. Also it would be great to have opportunity to pick not so acidic coffee. I haven’t got anything.Disappointed :/Pros:InteriorStaff
I love the ambiance, neat and simple. Their coffee I ordered was so perfect for me.
A tasty spot with great coffee and an excellent food menu, they tend to get really busy in the morning and will occasionally mess up your order. Also, it has an even higher price tag than the already high norm for coffee spots like this.
Great espresso.
Love this coffee shop. As an avid coffee lover, I love trying new coffee shops and this one I will keep visiting. Great pasteries too.
Finally a store at South Bay!!! Great coffee and nice staff, worth the wait!
Nice spot! Pretty happening with foot traffic and a sweet patio area out front. They have good coffee too. Would love some accessible electric outlets to be able to do work there though.Worth a visit. :)
The coffee is so worth it and the patio big enough to practice 6 feet distance
Outside patio is very lovely
Hot latte is best!
Often errors on app orders.
Theyre not letting people sit outside on their patio, but their coffee is fantastic. Nice baristas as well.
Iced matcha latte was beautiful
Great service, delicious coffee! We tried the seasonal, whiskey flavored latte and it was phenomenal. Its a non alcoholic drink, but the flavour is spot on. Not too sweet. They also carry Manresa baked goods. Its one of the best bakeries in bay area.
Great coffee and great service. Nice patio to enjoy the sun.
Tasty coffee and comfy patio.
I just got the espresso coffee beans, not so good!
Beautiful lovely street-level corner location with an expansive friendly outdoor patio. However, my green tea latte was watery and unflavorful. It also cost $1.50 more than Starbucks down the street. Pleasant friendly staff.
Im a tourist and a huge fanatic of coffee and coffee shops, and when I visited the place my expectations where really high (good rating on Google maps and recommended by a couple of friends). Ive been there 4 times now, because I prefer to judge a place after visiting a few times (unless it doesnt deserve me going more than once) and the service is always lazy or desorganized (been there in week days and weekends. The coffee is pretty good but I didnt find that special spark I always look for in a Coffee shop.
Met a pretty girl here
Knowledgeable staff-member guided me when I wanted ti try a new roast
Love this place, and glad they brought a location to the peninsula/South Bay
Had the “missile” today, and it was super tasty (I’m a big fan of sweet drinks)! Lots of outdoor seating and a pleasant place to read or work. I’ll definitely be back!
The staff is always super friendly
Worst service, Americano took 30 minutes!!!
They actually open at 6 am. Great coffee and bakery.
One and one all day every day (1 shot neat and 1 shot as a macchiato). I make all the other places do this once I was introduced to it. They do a great single origin espresso. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and ample outdoor seating. They can get busy, which in my opinion is a good thing!
Verve is one of the best coffee shops in Downtown Palo Alto, with delicious coffee options and an awesome atmosphere. While travelling for work I often stop and get coffee in the morning and Verve is a top flight coffee shop no matter where you are. I would highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try!
Verve serves solid espresso (one of the best in PA), and the aesthetic is very pleasant. They have a decent amount of seating, but if you’re going to work or read, be aware that you may have trouble finding a power outlet (I’m not sure I saw any at all).
