We were in the middle of a move from NC to DC and lost power steering on the highway in Petersburg. Pep Boys saved the day! Not only did they help us figure out what the problem was, they were quick, professional and so polite. Roy was especially wonderful, we are so grateful for these folks—they kept us going when we hit a major obstacle and it truly saved the day for us. We love Pep Boys!

I brought my car in 8/30/2021 for an oil change and check engine light. I was told I need a new O2 sensor. It was replaced. On 9/10 I ended up taking my car to the actual dealership because I was having the same issue. The dealer ended up replacing the exact o2 sensor that Pepboys installed. I wish they would’ve told me they use after market parts and these parts DON’T work well in Nissans. Also, as of today there is no oil at all on my car. I do normal driving to and from work, absolutely no reason there is NO oil in my car less than a month later.

They honored my third party warranty and fixed it within 24hrs of me leaving it with them.

Called a few days ago and made an appointment for an inspection, oil change and air in my tires. Go in for my appointment and I get told “I don’t know what you’re talking about, we don’t do inspections on the weekends” and was rudely asked if I made the appointment online. When I said no, that I had called and made the appointment, he proceeded to tell me “we don’t even make appointments for inspections because we only have one inspector” but then in the next breath told me they had 4 appointments for inspections on Monday. Then he says “I can still do your oil change but it’s gonna be awhile”, so I just left. Completely unprofessional and I will never go back.

We were driving back home to Maryland from North Carolina and our car started acting up. My husband fixed as many things as he could, but the car was just wanting to be fixed. Oh and earlier we got 10 nails in our tire so we were on a donut. Tim Tyler was our savior. He got us fixed up and running back on the road within the hour. God bless him for thinking outside the box and getting us back on the road for the cheaper way. I recommend everything about him. Thank you Tim, we survived.

I set a appointment for a alignment and I go in and they say they don’t do alignments on lifted vehicles. I have a 2007 Tacoma with a three inch lift. I’m not going here again especially not when I only go in for alignments and tire mount.

Great experience 👍due to Great timing. Had a flat tire due to its unexpected and unintended interaction with a nail in the tread. On a trip from NY to Florida, I blew a tire, and the service at Pep Boys at this location was above and beyond. They helped me find the perfect set of back tires for my Mazda 2 (only one blew, but the other was also old and cracked/required replacement for such a long trip). Even though they had several jobs going on, they found time to get me back on the road within an hour or two when the original ETA was not until that night. Friendly, helpful, above-and-beyond service and quick turn-arounds mean if youre anywhere near the area, you really should stop for any work you need on your vehicle to be done at this location!

Pep Boys Warwick, RI store on Bald Hill Road is great. I’ve always been completely satisfied. Prices for parts and service are fair, advice and service work inspire confidence, and Alissa in parts is especially knowledgeable. During a recent trip Pep Boys just outside Richmond, VA saved the day with same great service.

Havent been there in years last time I was there. It was like any other part store. Left hear they went back partly the way it used to be from 15 years ago was much better then my last visit but not there yet.

I was driving through from Florida to New york when we broke down in this town. Timothy T was awesome and a God send. On his day off(he didnt have to but did) worked on my car (the belt broke, also needed a new water pump and tension) and I was out of there by 1:30. The work and customer service was superb. Went in for a state inspection and tire repair/replacement. In the past I have avoided using chain automotive repair shops. This was my first time here and I couldn’t be more pleased. The service was fast and reasonably priced. Everyone was friendly and checked in throughout the day regarding the repairs. Will definitely be going back in the future!

I had a broken rusted brake line while traveling from NC and was forced to use them. They stated they were not comfortable fixing 1 line, for 500.00 but I need all replaced for 1400.00. Then it would take 10hrs.Everywhere I looked and read stated 4-6 hours max to replace and bleed linesWhen they finally completed my replacement brake lines, they did a half job. I would have to wait until 2 days later to finish the rear.I am so displeased with being overwhelmed and over charged tremendously. It was an emergency job and they made my anxiety higher. The manager really tried to help, Thanks Gary, but I really feel cheated. Thanks Roy for trying to help but I was very stressed about everything...

I took my car to here to get the AC fixed they said nothing was wrong with it and charged me $100 for nothing. My AC was not blowing correctly so I had to take it elsewhere. I got a second opinion and I need a new compressor. Thanks for nothing, it should be against the law to take people hard earn money. I recently had my brakes done there and the Manager Dawn and her staff saved me over $283.00 compared to my previous estimates from other auto service centers. As an active duty Marine, I am often traveling and from time to time, I have to service my vehicle. I would rank my experience at this particular Pep Boys as the best both my wallet and I have had at an auto repair establishment. I credit my experience not only to the money I saved but also the customer service from both the Manager and her staff. Staff was very polite and willing to help with what you need. I bought a clutch kit cause I was in the area at the time and had to return it to them cause it was the wrong clutch. Needed it for a 2000 Ford and the counter clerk entered it as a 2004 Ford. Clutch was almost $80.00 more and they did a even exchange cause I had to make a 2hr trip cause there is not a pep boys in my area... Defiantly will buy from them again if Im in the area

I just asked Pep Boys if it was possible to ship a new tire to my Son who is 4 hours away in College and there is no Pep Boys nearby. His tire blew out and it was under warranty, but unfortunately the brand tire he had was exclusive to Pep Boys. The Manager, Dawn, was very helpful and discounted the tire without seeing the blown out one, and she is shipping it out today to a local tire place we picked that will mount and balance it once received. While traveling from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, my car malfunctioned three times. I went to a Pep Boys earlier in my journey in Virginia, where they assured me my car was repaired and ready to go. A short distance later, I found myself stranded on a busy interstate. I was near the Petersburg location, and the fellows there treated me with respect and did great work on my car. They walked me through the work and test drove it many times to make sure that I could complete my journey back to Pennsylvania. Chris and Roy were very helpful and professional, and Kevin was the only technician to work on my vehicle, something that is nearly unheard of. It was unfortunate that the first Pep Boys didnt address the problem the first time, but I was lucky to find a more capable Pep Boys in this one.

I came in around lunch time to have my oil change and coolant temp sensor replaced and they told me it will be awhile but then they said they could do it right then. Thank you for that. Customer service was amazing and very good work thank you

Have full trust in Pep Boys. Tried two Mazda dealerships but only trust Dawn, Keith, and James expertise. They are all dependable and respected. Was disappointed when i called yesterday asking for Dawn in Service only to learn she has been moved. I truly miss Dawn, but must say Fuji, Roy, and Tim are holding their own. Dawn, made my first visit memorable when she sold me tires. I felt understood and welcomed. You have her originally and the team subsequently to thank for my near 10 yrs of business in Petersburg. I pass competition to get to your store. Stay honest and you will maintain my business. That is a requirement.

First time Ive been there in a while friendly staff not bad prices

The crew at the Pep Boys restored my faith in mechanics by showing real human integrity and compassion. In October, I was driving from FL to PA to take mother to see her brother. My uncle is very ill and this was likely the last time they would see each other.My car would not start at a rest-stop near Petersburg and we were towed to the only shop open on a Sunday - your Pep Boys store. We were worried about losing time and costly repairs, but Chris and the crew welcomed us warmly and got us settled in while they performed tests on the car.About 30 minutes later, Chris told me that they when they pulled the car off the tow truck it had started on its own. To be safe, he had checked the car thoroughly and it was running perfectly. The theory is that a the fuel sensor had glitched and he gave me notes to take to my mechanic back home.We we anxious to get to my uncles house and stranded far away from home. Chris could have told us any number of things and charged us hundreds of dollars. Instead, he and the crew wished us safe travels with well wishes for my uncles health. There was no charge for their test on the car.We made it to PA safely and back to Florida with no trouble at all. Ive been very fortunate in my life to meet great people everywhere I go. Chris and the team at Pep Boys are a prime example of the kindness and integrity that is out there.Thank you so very, very much.

Roy and Chris were the best! They kept me up to date with the status of my truck that i just bought. They helped me more than the company that i bought my truck from. Never gave me the run around and they always made sure they immediately called me back. On 8.2.17 I took my daughters car for an inspection at 8am we came back at 10am and her car was up in the air the only guy that does inspection Joe was rolling a tire around. We asked if we could speak with him to ask a simple question since she JUST arrived from Texas the night before and the young man at the counter asked Joe if we could speak with him about the car and he gave a funky answer on the line of Im not done with it didnt hear the conversation clearly but I know that he had an attitude and it DOES NOT take 2 hours to do a state inspection! I asked the young man at the front to put the car down and we went elsewhere. I will NEVER go to Pep Boys again to have any service done to ANY car in my family and there are 4 of them.

Excellent service. Dawn (the service manager) was tremendously helpful. The staff pointed out several other faults that were not part of the tire purchase. There was no high pressure to get the work done here - just recommendations. I would definitely recommend this location for any and all repairs and maintenance on vehicles. I will undoubtedly use them for future tire and other maintenance/repairs on my vehicles.

My husband went in for an alignment and both his break lines went out turning onto the main road. There was no leaking before hand and he drove his car to the shop so his breaks were fine...They refuse to pay for the new breaks or transportation to bring it to a different mechanic. He sat there from 2pm until 7pm while they worked on it and they still have his car this morning.. The manager Chris was very rude and unbothered by the situation. We are both VERY disappointed, unsatisfied and upset. What should have been simple car maintenance turned into a very expensive and inconvenient car repairs.

I was greeted when I entered store. Had two people asking if they could help me. When I checked out the cashier was very pleasant and helpful. Have used Pep Boys several times and always satisfied.

Not bad but not that great. I got an oil change appoint set up the day prior and still ended up waiting about 30-45 mins to even have my truck pull into the garage. Plus the guy changing the oil in my truck got grease smeared all over my hood and driver side door! Pep boys is actually a reputable place this one is substandard and should be evaluated again and held to a higher standard.

I attend Virginia State University, so when my car wouldnt crank a few days before the Winter Break I was worried about where to go to get it fixed. I googled car auto shops in Petersburg and Pep Boys had one of the best Google reviews. Needless to say, I gave them a call & they were able to tow my car to their shop and resolve the issue all in the same day. Placed 9/23/19 original post was 3 stars: Was neither here nor there went in for a scheduled online appt. but the actual wait time was much longer. In their defense they were short staffed so i rebooked it. Once this appt clears i can give a better informed review.Update 9/25/19: appt time was handled as posted. Went in for shock replacement on front and rear. Process took roughly an hour. Roy at the service counter was accommodating, direct with pricing and estimated wait times. Missed the service techs name but he did listen to description of issues and offered solutions. Good experience all around.

The staff was friendly and courteous. They saw us quickly for our oil change, and they went out of their way to find a part I needed.

Went in to get wiper blades, so Im going to try to put them on myself. Well I laid my keys down on the windshield, and they fell down to wear the tire was. Long story short the tech Harold was coming out to get a vehicle he was so nice and took the time out to help me, he had to take the tire off unscrew the black panel from behind the tire. This was at the Pep Boys on Crater Rd in Petersburg Va.

I scheduled an appointment for an oil change online today for 2pm. Like 5 mins later I get a call from Pep Boys stating they are booked for 2pm but he can do 3pm. I told him sure that’s fine I can come in at 3. So my bf goes there 20 mins til 3 and they say they didn’t see any appointments made. Clearly I got a confirmation confirming my appointment time and clearly I got a call from an employee to reschedule for 3pm. We were told they are booked for today and if they try to even squeeze us in we would have to wait a few hours. Very inconvenient and poor customer service. And to top it off this isn’t my first bad experience I’ve had with this store.

An employee damaged my tire beyond repair. Then accused me of riding on a flat tire while he refused to replace my tire.

I love this store. I am a true gear head & they have the parts you can usually only find in a specialty shop. From AED carb rebuild kits, AN fittings, ARP fasteners, Edelbrock, Holley, Nitrous Systems, Auto Meter Gauges, Etc. Plus they are open 7 days a week. So if I break something Fri or Sat. I still have a chance to fix Sun.I will definitely be visiting them again soon.

I was quoted a price for a hose to be replaced at $1,069. I searched around and found the same work to get done somewhere else for only $290 at a dealership. In my opinion this place is extremely overpriced. I only gave them 1 star for finding the oil leak. I definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone go here.

My mother went there for an oil change, they claim she had an oil leak. I said if she did, thered be a stain in the driveway. Their response? Well, its a slow leak. No, if there was an oil leak, wed have seen it, period. Turns out it was the exhaust..wouldnt they know that?! 🙄👎 Needless to say, we wont be back.

The manager Chris is a dishonest individual who is out to scam people with their so called courtesy inspection. He forces his techs to find faults in hopes of charging costumers for more repair work than what is actually needed. Scum bags like this is what gives the auto repair industry a bad name.

I got my rear brakes changed and 4 new tires mounted, balanced, and aligned.... then I heard rattling from the rear end every time I hit a bump. I brought it back and they tried to tell me that it was my struts and the new tires caused them to make the noise. They wouldnt even pull it into a bay to be sure. Well Im pretty mechanically inclined so I knew that was bs. The struts are fine, front and rear. The mech didnt tighten down the jamb nut on my driver side rear track bar. It wasnt even hand tight. Nice try, maybe next time. I refuse to do service with them again.

Well, bait and switch cheap oil change. Only 69.99 but over 100 after disposal fees extra oil over the 5 allotted quarts, etc. 2 hour wait for basic oil change. Our mechanic decided he was bored I guess. He took 3 cigarette breaks out in parking lot. Stopped to talk to guy that drove up in random truck. He was nonchalantly leaning over back of truck, chatting away like he had nothing else to do. My wife had to use restroom and it was covered in feces on floor, seat, and unflushed in toilet. We told guy behind counter and his response was to shrug and tell us it happens all the time. He then suggested my wife walk down to Pizza Hut because their bathrooms are usually pretty clean thats where he goes sometimes...My suggestion find a Jiffy Lube

This was my first experience at pep boys and the service manager was extremely nice and helpful! They took great care of my car and I will be back.

So I went here to get my state inspection done and after them having my car in the bay for atleast an hour they finally came out and told me that this long list of stuff needs to be fixed before they can pass it and that they have no choice to put a rejection sticker on it... I told the guy that just because I don’t look like I get my hands dirty doesn’t mean I don’t. That they are stupid if they think I’m gonna pay them $700 to fix stuff on my car that doesn’t even need to be done right now. Well tonight I decide let me look up the requirements for your vehicle to pass inspection and come to find out everything they said they rejected it for isn’t on the list🤔🤔 ladies don’t take your business there because they will do nothing but belittle you and treat you as if you are dumb.

This place over charges! A service was half the price at the DEALER. In addition the service manager is EXTREMELY rude and lies. Check your prices and call around....

Im very disapointed in the manner in which I was treated with regard to billing. Although rectified through numerous calls and a lot of aggravation I will not shop or use pep boys in the future unless there is no other option. It really is a shame, my family has used pep boys for decades. Service and integrity no longer exists here.

Pep Boys has lost my service. I went two days in a row to get an inspection. The day before, all I could get was come back tomorrow, the inspector leaves at 5. Ok, it was about 4:20. I asked if I should come back the next day- the guy said yes, anywhere between 8-5. I was there before 3, they looked at me like I had two heads and gave me the same response about the mechanic leaving at 5. They were not helpful except to refer me to Gladin, which I was very pleased with and will be taking my car from now on. I used to get oil changes done here, but not anymore. This is the second time service was awful. Years ago, when my automatic window wouldnt work- they put tape on it and charged me $50 for the labor.Watch out for these boys!!

Never is a mechanic available...opens whenever they feel like despite hours of operations posted on the door. Attitude of service staff is what do you want sorry we dont do that or we dont have a tech today👎👎

Its an auto part store not much to say they had the part I needed at a decent price that I saw on line so pre paid on line they handed it to me and I was on my way people that worked there was helpful and not pushy and that a plus so good job to them

Place is trash. Went I for 1 tire replacement. They rotated my tire that are equipped with off set rims and destroyed my back rim. I never asked them to rotate my tires. Now they act as if they dont have to fix the problem after taking responsibility in the 1st place! Will be seeking legal actions now!
