People working here are so kind and helpful. The plastic dust cover detached from the bottom of my car after running across a road medium accidentally. I didn’t find out about the damage until halfway en route. I found this place through google maps and they were able to help me fix it immediately. I drove my car to a family vacation and it began making a funny noise almost immediately into the trip. We were thinking about turning around and then the noise quit. We continued on our way and returned. No problems. Wanted to check it out on return and contacted Tidwell Auto Service.I took the car to them the day before they could get to it and they returned it to me the day they promised once they identified the problem and called me with the price for the work. We paid less than the original estimate which is always nice and everything they worked on works great. They replaced wheel bearings on the rear and a brake switch. They have always worked on my personal cars for years and have kept them running great for all our vehicles from SUVs to compacts.They have been the fleet mechanics for the company I work for for more than 15 years and always have done good work at a good price for us. They have done everything from oil changes to replace motors and transmissions for us. For a small shop they really crack out the work and do it well. Always been very happy working with them.

Ive been using Tidwell for the past few years to service my 2012 Mercedes E350. I wish I would have found them years ago. Its difficult to find a shop that you can totally trust. They dont fix it if its not broke, and when it is they are fair with pricing and will provide the service in a timely manner.

This is my new favorite repair shop! I live in Plano and used to drive to Burdick in McKinney but after finding Tidwell on Nextdoor I think they may be as good or even better than Burdick and theyre a lot closer to my house. Ive used Tidwell three times now and Ive always felt that they were honest with me and did good work at a fair price. Theyve earned my business.

We took our car in after a trip where the air conditioning wasn’t working very well. Tidwell put a new compressor in & we got the car back on a Friday. Sunday after church we stopped for gas & there was a puddle of a red fluid under the car. We had to have AAA tow us to Tidwell’s . Monday they started works on fixing the transmission. We were inconvenienced by not having the car but it was ready on Thursday for our 4th trip. Every one was so nice & we had no more trouble with the car. I would recommend them.

Took my 97 Cadillac here after previously taking my car to a Cadillac dealership due to a gas leak (which the dealership claimed they could not find and did not exist) the fine people at Tidwell easily found the problem, diagnosed it, ordered the parts needed, and had it fixed within a timely manner. They kept me updated, and were very solid with their communication. Anytime I need any more work done on this vehicle or any others I will for sure be returning here, thanks Tidwell!

There is a creepy woman who works here. She should learn to keep her comments to herself and mind her own business. I dont need to discuss anything with you, other than my car. Also, they do not wear masks when they are inside in the front office. We dont plan to use their services again. I would actually be afraid, in more ways than one, to go back there.

We have never been disappointed in 20 yrs. The employees are honest and hard working. The Receptionist can speak/understand automobile just about as well as the mechanics. We have used Tidwell Auto Service for our automotive repairs for over 10 years, and they have always done a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. Troy Tidwell (the owner) is a great guy who operates his business with integrity. There was a time in the past where I have brought a car to Troy with an issue that other mechanics had diagnosed as costing thousands (axle and transmission issue), and Troys evaluation and repair (loose lug nuts) cost nothing. I had the starter replaced on my geriatric 97 Nissan truck by Tidwell. Soon after getting it back, it started making an odd noise when starting up. I called them about it and, without hesitation, they told me to bring it back in and they would replace it. No discussion, no trying to sell me some additional service when I got there, and no charge. AccomodatingSince retirement, wife and I decided to only carry expense of one automobile. Brake fluid flush at regular intervals is manufacturers suggested maintenance. This is second time Tidwell has performed this service for me. Both times I called ahead, set up appointment and waited on service to be performed. When I arrived they wasted no time in getting me back on the highway.

A wonderful family business; honest, friendly, very low key. They didn’t charge me for the time they spent diagnosing my car’s problem. They completed the repairs within the quoted time and price. Previous visits went smooth and I was happy with they work and the service but today was a complete turn around. Had a 10 am appointment, at 11 am they still had not taken the car to into the bay for work and had not bothered to say anything to me about the delay. Only when I asked for the keys back was I apologized to and told the car in front of me requested extra work and took longer than planned. OK how about either 1) telling me that instead of leaving sitting in the waiting room for an hour wondering whats going on. 2) telling the customer that requested the extra work that their was no time in todays schedule and set them up with a future appointment. 3) if you knew prior to my appointment call me before I get there so Im not wasting my time in your waiting room. Very disappointed with the todays front end customer service, Ill be think long and hard before coming back again.

Competent service with very reasonable price

I really like this company. I am a owner of a construction company and have many vehicles. Ive been going to this place for many years. Every time they offer a its reasonable on the price. But the service and quality of work has been better than any other car company Ive dealt with in the past. That is why I rated five stars. I only had to come back one time because something they fixed did not fix the problem. Thats not bad considering Ive been there 10 to 12 times to get my trucks fixed. But the best part I like about this company is not the friendly service and the quality of work, it is the Bible on the coffee table. Nobody does that anymore but they do and I appreciate it.

I visited this store in the past week several times. First time, I went to do the oil change as I overfill the oil and the car get much smoke. Service was excellent and front desk is very helpful. Afterwards, I find my rear brakes are too thin so I went there to replace them and also requested a full inspection as well. They helped to replace the brakes and give me a list of problems such as gasket leak, too much carbo. I believed they can fix and works after the repair. Now I find my turbo has some issue, I am totally depending on them now. Hope they can fix it ASAP. Reasonable price and sweet service, also promising timeline. I think it will be the only one I can trust from now on as long as I am in TX area now.

I have been a loyal customer of Tidwell Auto for over 15 yrs. I have referred them to countless family members, friends, coworkers, church members, and acquaintances not just because of the repairs and service the provide but because it is so rare in this day and age to find a business owner that believes in something and isnt afraid to share it with everyone. I believed Troy Tidwell believed in families, helping members of the community, treating employees and customers as people not dollar bills, and was a Christian who believed in putting others first. Evidently those things were his sales tools. Over the last several weeks he has kept his business open which that in itself isn’t where the problem lies the problem lies in why and his reasons he justifies those reasons with and his disregard for everyone of his employees, customers, vendors, members of the community and all of their families. He states he’s an essential business and yes he does qualify depending on what is considered essential which when repair shops were added were basically repairs that were needed due to safety or to keep someone’s only vehicle on the road. I don’t believe that offering to have employees pick up vehicles for oil changes or repairs people certainly weren’t concerned about before this offer or any other maintenance item or repair that can wait until this ends is what anyone had in mind. I emailed Mr Tidwell about my concerns regarding him not caring about his employees customers and their families health and safety and his reply was Sorry you are probably right, but I hope my business remains open. How can someone who has built a business on portraying himself to care so much have so little regard for the peoples lives both his employees and customers as well as there families justify staying open to make sure his business survives. This is the problem we are facing money has become more important than people. I’m urge you to reach out and make it known to him that it’s not ok to force people with families to continue to work so that his family continues to prosper as he is not anywhere to be found he’s secluded and he isn’t risking his life or his families.He not only continues to force them to work he has mandated they continue to take in all repairs hasn’t allowed his office or waiting area to close and as of today has no sanitizing stations available and there is not any safe guards in place for his employees.Please share with everyone you know.

When working with Tidwell, you will only deal with 3 people. Troy, the owner sine 1977, oversees everything and is a good mechanic in his own right. Mario is a very excellent mechanic and I think he does the difficult jobs. Nicole answers the phone and is very friendly and easy to work with. We have been taking our cars to Tidwell since 2002 when we moved to Plano. I know that their service will be good, fair, and honest.

They were both very helpful in answering my questions and talking about their services.Things to know,They take Synchrony Car Care, its a credit card that helps you finance anything over $199. Super helpful since care repairs arent cheap.They also will buy a Lyft for you to get home and back from the repair.Their owner has been here for 40 years and their head mechanic for 30!They also diagnose for free and will beat the price of most if not all placesNot opened on weekend, which is a bummer, but family first5 star experience and would come again!EDIT: I got a call from them mid service that they broke my driver side steering knuckle. I was shocked, but they assured me that they will pay for the new part and put it in for free. They took responsibility and were very honest about it. I picked up my car and it handles slightly better and that weird sound from the bearing is gone!

I took my car for an oil change and asked to check the air conditioner because I had concerns about it running when I was running the fan. The mechanic informed me that the air conditioner was working fine and so was the fan. It only needed tightening since I had the radiator replaced. It is refreshing that people do not try to push unnecessary repairs.

My Camrys engine was damaged and needed a replacement. This shop gave me the best price, couple thousand dollars lower than others. They get it done in a good quality. Its been two years since then, the car runs like a new. Thanks, Tidwell!

I have been working with this guys for my car needs and my experience with them has always been excellent. I recently had a full synthetic oil change performed at Tidwell Auto. I was in and out fast, according to my appointment schedule and the service was excellent as always, with no extra charges! Tidwell Auto has performed major and minor repairs on my cars for decades, and they are the best auto shop in town. Reliable, trustworthy, fair, honest, skilled ... good people ... understandable why Troy Tidwell has been in business since the 1970’s!

I used Tidwell Auto Service for Oil Changes and several other services. They were always expediate and more then fair in their pricing! Would highly recommend them and wish I was still in that area to use them for their services.

Sorry to say, had good service until.....they did a radiator flush and did not bleed it, so my engine overheated and....following phone calls....they did nothing. I was out an engine, $3,500 and it was my problem. I believe in small business, but this is not right. Bad service, bad workmanship, they did not correct it, or offer me anything. I had to sell my car and get a new one. Cost me thousands. I do not do many bad reviews, but this is UNETHICAL WORKMANSHIP. (Edit, update. While I was understanding what was going I with my vehicle, poor customer service, I could have been talked to with a little respect, rather than telling me this was my problem and I had one option, new engine. If they did a good job to begin with, which was a minor issue, and they bled the air, this would have never happened. Again, I apologize for a bad review, but I have to be honest and dont want anybody to go through what I went through.)

Horrible experience! Do not recommend!Liars, Cheats, bad mechanics!They diagnosed a problem after I brought in my vehicle, told me they could have it done next day. it sat in their shop for a WEEK.I spent 500 dollars with these guys and the problem didn’t even get fixed. So now I have nice new parts installed that I didn’t need and still a problem with my vehicle. It was a 1990s Ford!!! Come on.The icing on the cake. I brought in the vehicle after the problem came up again after they said they repaired it. They had it for 3 days, finally I called and they said “ yeah we don’t know what’s wrong with it but you can come pick it up now”

This Garage is unbelievable in Plano.They are honest, they call you back to follow up to be sure everything on your car is running OK. They are clean courteous, they will drive you and pick you up if need be, their prices are reasonable and they offer discounts and free oil changes on Mondays! I have been going to them for 8 months and cannot say enough about them. I have searched high and low and this is by far the best place I have ever been with my car. Superb service, as usual. Engine light came on, they checked it, noticed that a valve they had replaced in January had already failed, and it was replaced for free. I never took my wallet out.They are unfailingly friendly, polite and honest. Best auto mechanics Ive seen in 40 years.

Best in town - Always make you feel comfortable and welcome. Normally when you go to workshops you are cautious as they try up sell, here no issues like this - they are honest and transparent. May 2016I have always felt happy with their service and unlike other service centers where you get pushed to replace or repair things that actually were not needed. 3 weeks ago, our vehicle (Lexus RX330) stopped on a highway after the timing belt broke. My husband had it towed to Tidwell Auto Service, which is close to our house. It was our first time there.Our experience with the shop was good. Communication with the shop was pretty fast. After getting the new timing belt put in, we were told that the SUV needed a new engine. We took their advice and got it replaced. A couple of days later, we found out that the AC was no longer working. We also had been noticing a gas smell coming inside the SUV. We took it back. We were told that the gas smell was due to the recent engine swap and that over time, the smell would go away. We insisted that they check it again. They later found out that certain bolts inside were not tighten well enough after the engine swap and that was causing gas vapors to get thru inside. That issue got fixed. As for the the AC issue, it was not clear at what point (during the towing or during the engine repair) the condenser got cracked, but that was the issue identified. So, the the crack was causing the refrigerant to leak. They gave us a discount to get it fixed; we took it and got the AC issue fixed there as well.Overall, we spent over $5,250 there in a week and hope that the investment in the repairs was worthwhile. They gave us a 12-month warranty on the engine and a 2-year warranty on the AC condenser. So far, the SUV is running well and we are satisfied with the work done.The staff my husband interacted with (Megan and Amanda) were professional and prompt to address the issues brought to them. It has been less than a month since the repairs were done, but so far so good.

Brought my Chevy Suburban in for an oil change. Quick service. (Appointment made.) What is nice is that they also look over the vehicle for potential problems. Simple recommendations no scare tactics. Have been bring my vehicles here for awhile and i trust them. It is an honest business.

I have had a lot of car troubles over the last few years between two different cars and every time I come in the front desk staff have been very accommodating and friendly. Run! Horrible experience. Will never go there again. The lady at the front desk (she said she was the manager) was extremely rude, aggressive and lied to me. No customer service. I explained on the phone that I needed to get the car back before 3pm because I had to pick up a child from school. I was told that the repair would take about 1.5 hours. I came in next day, handed over the car and came back 1.5 hours later. I was told by a mechanic that they had not started working on it because someone dropped the ball and that they went for a lunch break. I left again and came back an hour later, now close to the time where I had to leave to pick up my child. The lady at the front desk said that the repair was more complicated than they had thought. When I told her that this was not true, they had gone on a lunch break, she became hostile and said that since I had come in 10 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, I should not expect that theyd start working on my car. I told her that now nobody could pick up my child, and that I didnt know what to do next, but she said that this was not her problem, and offered no solution or apology. The more I tried to explain, the more rude and aggressive she became, telling me that I understood nothing about how car shops work, that I was rude and that I should expect nothing from them since I was 10 minutes late for the appointment. She said that I was on camera, to which I replied that the camera must have captured that she lied about the repair being complicated when instead they had just gone to lunch. I asked to speak to the mechanic (she said he was with another customer) and I asked to speak with Mr. Tidwell (she said he was not there). I ask myself why Mr. Tidwell employs a manager who is so hostile, uncaring and lies to customers. Where are their proclaimed Christian values? I will never go to there again.

Definitely make an appointment before going. I was lucky and was able to be serviced. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT AND QUICK! No more than 15 minutes for my oil change. I also had a Groupon deal that was a steal! When I arrived I was given a coupon booklet for my other paid for services AND additional FREE and discounted services. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We love tidwell auto in plano. we have used them for 15 years. thyre not mazda specific, but theyve always done a great job on all of our cars/trucks!

I visited this place of business to get an oil change and while I was there I realized I needed my yearly inspection. Although I did not have an appointment they conducted the inspection with no problem. The front desk staff were very friendly! As a woman, I hate frequenting automotive places because I always feel Im being tricked into services. Not at Tidwell...I will return!! Thanks for the great customer service.

These guys are great! It is hard to find an honest mechanics and this place has them. I drive all the way from Carrollton just to get work done on my 2 cars here because they are always honest and fair. I highly recommend.
