The apple fritters were pretty big and very good. But saying you have the best donuts in town is a bold claim for this area, and Donut Queen did not live up to it.That being said, the bear claw I had was very good and the apple fritter was the best I have had in a while, and the prices were reasonable. Its worth a stop, especially if you are nearby.Staff were super friendly, and despite the run down look, the sitting area was comfy.

This is how sales should be done! Respect for this place. The staff was busy with a customer when I came in, yet greeted me with cheer. After finishing up the transaction the gentleman behind the counter informed me he would be right back. He then carried the young mothers boxes of donuts to her car as that she was carrying her baby and purse. Absolutely made my day before I even got my amazing donuts.

If you are interested in supporting a small owned business GO HERE! Donut selection is wonderful. Ours were warm and delicious. Prices are decent. Definitely will go back when Im in Oregon again.

$5 for 2 huge donuts…uh yes please! The Apple fritter looked like the side of my head. It was so crispy on the outside, while still warm and apple filled on the inside. I don’t know the same of the second one I got I think it was caramel something, but it was just as good!

These are the best donuts I’ve had in Portland, ever! So tender and perfectly sweet. The staff was so helpful and generous, he gave us three extra donuts so that we could try them all, and lowered the price. We gave him an extra big tip! I don’t know why I would ever go anywhere else for donuts again.

Hands down the best apple fritter in town, maybe anywhere. Don’t let the modest facade fool you. I got mine a few minutes after they opened at 8a and the inside of the fritter was still warm. Unbelievable.

Best donuts we’ve ever had, hands down. As other reviews mention, don’t be fooled by the exterior! The glaze donut was fluffy and sweet and melted in your mouth. Buttercream bar was a little sweet for me but also amazing. I don’t even like apple fritters but we got one and the dough alone made it amazing. Highly recommend.

Ive been coming to donut queen for years. They always keep odd hours, which I love because my donut cravings come at odd times, like 9pm on a Sunday. The donuts here are *supreme* sugary goodness and somehow ALWAYS warm. Every other donut in this town pales in comparison. A family owned business and apple fritters the size of your head. It’s a no-brainer.

We’ve lived in the neighborhood for 3 years before we stepped into this shop, curiosity finally got the best of us, and we’re so happy to know this place is just around the corner. Donuts are fresh and delicious, Ali was so friendly, and they’re basically open all the time. The price is great too.

Ive driven by many times and always wanted to try it, so I finally did . Probably some of the worst donuts Ive ever had. Burnt, dried out and overpriced. The inside was dirty and gross. If you want something good and local stick to Heavenly or Coco. Otherwise, just go to Krispy Kreme.

Same as every other review here — uh-mazing donuts and super nice people. Could not care less about the unassuming little shop after munching these all day. We couldn’t stop, and every bite we kept saying how good they were.Don’t go to Voo Doo, don’t go to Blue Star or Sesame or Coco or Pips. These are way better and a great deal. Also don’t bother with the one-star reviews written here — everyone else seems to know what’s up.

Nice variety of types of donuts and toppings. I liked their cake donuts and was blown away by their regular donut it was taller and fluffy than other places. I want to try maple cake bar next time.We got a box of at least 7 donuts and it was cheap. I cant remember how much.Unfortunately, I didnt like the fritter. It was an apple one but I didnt taste that. It was covered in a lot of glaze and tasted oily.

3 basic simple raised donuts for $5.00, absolute rip off. The same donuts I purchased are .50 a piece at Fred Meyer or Safeway, maybe .59 cents at the most. This guy has basic donuts for outlandish prices and they are not worth it, stay clear of these people!!

I was in desperate need of a donut to ease the symptoms of the month and a migraine knowing the sugar rush was the only thing to ease my pain. I was so happy to finally stop here to indulge my sweet tooth because their donuts where phenomenal!! Still slightly warm, the old fashioned glazed donut almost melted in my mouth! Dont expect blueberry basil or coco puffs on top, but know when you go here youll get delicious, traditional, and amazing donuts! And the price was right...2 for $3. Thank you, for you are the Queen!

My roommate and i just stopped here for the first time, we are super impressed!!! the fritter is huge, crunchy in all the right places. the glazed twist was light and airy and perfectly fluffy. the chocolate glaze with sprinkles was the same, and everything tasted fresh and full of love. we got 5 donuts for $6, and they are delicious!!!!! it’s pretty close to my house so i definitely see myself walking down again, thank you for your hard work!

We love these donuts! So delicious!! Moist, soft, cakey, flavorful donuts.We showed up around 3pm on a Sunday and there were only a few bearclaws in the case, he said there was a single chocolate bar donut in the back he could bring out. He then gave us these two nut covered maple donuts for free. Each one is so good, we are looking forward to coming in the morning to get a wide selection.Our first time and we are Definitely coming back! Thank you!

The place has a good sized parking lot. The building is older but don’t let that discourage you from getting some good donuts. The donuts have a higher dough to glaze ratio than an “average” donut, but still very good. They even gave us some free ones!

First impression was a little iffy. Walked in at 11:30 AM on a Monday and it was pretty dirty inside. I eat stuff off the ground so I dont really care but Im sure other people do! There were also little fruit flies flying around INSIDE the donut counter landing on the donuts. (Thats probably when I should have walked out.)Only one person working which was fine but they didnt seem like they knew what they were doing? I ask for a dozen and had to help the dude count the donuts. Then when I went to pay he just handed me the credit card machine and didnt tell me how much the total was. After I asked, it was $10, I had to type in my own total (I literally could have typed in anything and he wouldnt have known/cared.) and swiped my card.I love a good hole in the wall donut shop as much as the next person, but this one I dont think Ill ever go back to. It was just gross.

I give 1 star for the location and 5 stars for the donut!! My raised glaze donut was delicious. I was craving a donut and happened to be driving past this donut shop. The outside looked sketchy, but I really wanted a donut. I walked inside the place and froze. It was in really bad shape. It was desperately in need of a deep cleaning. A man was inside and he actually kind of scared me because he seemed out of place. He just didnt look like he was there to make and sell donuts. Through my fear, the beautiful raised glaze donut whispered to me from the dirty donut tray. I told the man what I wanted and he walked behind the counter and put it in a bag, I ordered 2. I think my total was $2, which was super cheap. I thanked the man and left, completely creeped out. When I got in my car I pulled a glistening donut from my bag. I smelled it. It smelled like butter, sugar, vanilla and cream!! I looked it over. The donut was beautifully raised. It looked airy and firm with a glaze that shined like Cinderellas glass slipper. I was nervous, but I took a bite. Euphoria took over me!! I was floating on a Donut!! The donut was absolutely delicious!! Ive had a donut from three different donut shops this week, Im having an intense craving, and this was BY FAR the best tasting donut. Im hopeful they owners put a little TLC into the shop and fix it up a bit.

A very very unassuming place, so much so you might even think was a business that closed down but forgot to take down the open sign. Even as you walk in you might feel like you walked into an abandoned building. You will, however, be greeted by a super nice man and will soon be enjoying some super delicious donuts. His cake donuts are right up there with Pips, which are great or course, but his are just no hipster regular guy style. Great donuts!

Fantastic donuts. Seriously. Big, fluffy, melt in your mouth dough with just the right amount of frosting. I love donuts like Milhouse loves crayons and these folks make an exceptional donut.You can have your Pips and Blue Star (which are really good in their own different ways), but if youre looking for the archetype of a good ol donut, this is one of the few places in town that does just a stellar job.
