In the past few months, I noticed I prefer the Safeway on Bernal over Santa Rita. The deli is more fresh and the place is cleaner than this Safeway.EDIT: They’ve added new freezers and upgraded the layout. It’s way cleaner than before. Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished!

Just moved here so new Safeway. They were very friendly easy to find things..its also near Walgreens so it was a very good thing because new walgreens too!

I tried out drive up and go and I must say that I love it. It saves me so much time in the store. Who would have thought that it would be so rewarding. Not to mention the fact that it the associate was very attentive and made sure that everything was correct.

Love that it’s open late. I like doing my errands later in the day as I get off work late and need to go home first to unwind.

Above average Safeway. A lot of organic stuff

This Safeway is a hit or miss. The selection is wide, with deep selections. You can find hard to find ingredients for exotic recipes. This is where I get my lemongrass or turmeric roots. Also there are a wide variety of exotic fruits. 150 different staples to get, organic varieties.However there are usually a lot of lines at the register. Not enough cashiers to cover a sudden rush.But who can beat a 24/7 availability of all you need.Inside you will find a Starbucks & Jamba Juice.

I felt really secure here. Very protected by the armed AI woman over the main speaker.

The deli’s sundried basil pasta I love is sometimes not very fresh and hard to eat

Safeway is good at Marketing... bought some fresh Pasta later noticed It was expired.. went for return..no apologies just money Back...How about the Gas and Time I wasted?Vegetables are good quality but I found better price at Wholfoods..Fresh baked bread is so so..nothing Unique. French bread is poor quality.Seems the Bakery wants to be Jack of All, Master of None mentality.I didnt notice something compelling to distinguish the Safeway identity or Hallmark.Member saving is limited... nothing so special...

Always trying to rip off customers with incorrect price tags, usually refusing to match their advertised prices, and never ever following their own policy for when they get caught overcharging.

Clean, sufficient space for appropriate distancing, would had liked to see business hours to be more visible when walking past the entry doors of establishment.

This store is terrible. We keep trying to give it a chance, but it fails every time. From the lack of stock, especially in meat and produce, the people are not friendly at all. We probably will give up on this store and use Bernal, or Dublin Safeway.

Only been there a couple times of times very early in the morning. Place is fully stocked at that time and very clean and organized. Cashiers and stockers are very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking close at that time. It can get crazy during mud morning thru lunch dye to to Starbucks and Noahs next door and other stores.

Always maintains fresh vegetables, fresh bread 🍞😋 and all groceries, what else ..🤗🤗

Easy way to use electric wheelchair to store from my home

Food was fresh and merchandise perfect, every department was inviting and all though the store did not have what i was seeking,, because the store set up and freshness,, i ended my visit with impulse buys and spontaneous spending. It was just so inviting to browse. The store was exceptionally clean on the inside and exterior, plenty of parking, well maintained location and surrounding infrastructure neighborhood. It was evident cleanlunesswas a priority, providing a warm welcome. It was absent of all the loud noise often heard through intercoms and announcements bells buzzers and request for service here n there. It was staffed adequately that there wasnt a need to call for extra service cause theres a customer waiting. It seemed all departments were covered with staff that was just as comfortable themselves as the store looked great and they all fid a fine job that day, it really showed. They each seemed to know product and location they took me right to what I requested, but my request simply was a powder not liquid beverage, but the gal knew exactly the brand I was seeking, and a fairly new product found in the grocery stores, and its rare I find clerks that know what this particular beverage product is, but the clerk who assisted me sprung to the rescue she was chipper abd a working soilder. each staff member i encounter was conversing with another staff member. I patiently waited for their conversation to conclude. Twice, two and two engaged their demeanor to include me in what I found to be non work or shopping related and nothing that I as a customer cared to discuss. I wasnt offended by either encounters, but thought that it wasnt work ethic appropriate to continue conversing about non related interest commonly shared with each and disregard the job security presently in front of you, waiting, observing, smiling, yet biting her tongue listening to nonsense and gossip. And I am very much an impatient person and coming from a background in customer service in retail and financial institution call centers, Ive learned from many years experience that the customer or what I refer to as a guest once theyve entered an establishments building of operations is #1job security. Without them theres no job. Im just real picky I suppose. I dud enjoy my visit. And that store looked fantastic. Wow! Thats the longest review Ive ever cliniced

Good drinking water

This place need a major update and with the customer service. Its Sunday afternoon when everyone does your shopping for the week. Guess what comma you have poor people in one line if 8 people in another line and have about 10 people and another line. Safeway went to hell in a handbasket when they sold it. I think its about time that we start shopping at Raleys. At least they have a friendly customer service

This is the closest safeway to my house. Its an older one, but still a good one. The other safeway in Pleasanton at Bernal and the freeway is further away, but its brand new and really nice. But this one usually has everything I need.

Its hard to know the price of items as the labels often dont correspond to the nearest item and many are completely missing, also, not all of their safeway coupons are actually deducted from your bill.

Just moved to the Bay area about a month ago. This store really phones it in. Customer service and cleanliness could be improved. Also, the store is really lax in enforcing covid-19 protections for staff and customers.

It was not a pleasant experience, I was on my lunch hour and Guadalupe who worked in the deli department thought it was more important to wipe down the front of the display instead of serving me and four other people that were standing thereI asked her could she get someone to help us she responded someone will helpyou in a minute there was a young lady that was supposed to clock out and go to lunch instead she helped us😌 I didnt get her name but whoever she was thank you thank you thank you💜

Safe distancing instructions are clear and prominently posted. They seem to have paper towels, TP and other hard-to-find items in stock.

Ive always gone on days/hours where its not peak grocery shopping hour, so parking was never an issue for me. The parking lot does look like its on the smaller side though. It is near the BART station, which may be convenient for some people. The store interior is clean and well organized. No issues finding what I need and customer service has always been good-no poor attitude from any cashiers.

Nicest Safeway Ive been to by far. The way the produce are stacked is like art. Workers were also helpful when it came to which fruits were in season. Nice selection of beverages. Has a pretty decent pharmacy-like section. Basically one of the bigger sized Safeways with everything you need and then some. A+ workers sprinkled throughout the store and checkout. Definitely my go-to place for snacks in the area.

They have a great selection of just about everything you could possibly need. The shelves are always nicely pulled forward for easy viewing and selection. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh and generally ripe to the level I look for.

A well stocked store with conveniently located merchandise, and the occasional smiling associate in one of the aisles, ready to help. More cashiers could be made available as lines lengthen....

Employees are very friendly but it is a shame for some reason the checkers have to bag as well. Several customers are grumpy and patience gets heated by the time they have to leave the parking lot after such slow service. Like I said employees are GREAT. I will never go back unless absolutely no other option. Two customers in front of me should never take 15 - 20 minutes to get through the line.

Employees are very unfriendly. Atms need updating, tried using my card and needed to swipe it multiple times in order for it to work. Cashier was no help. And if I have to bag my own groceries, dont charge me for all my bags; I could just wait for you to finish ringing me up and have you bag but I am trying to be nice and make things easier so your line goes quicker.

What a mess. But we shop there all the time. A lot of disgruntled employees for years and years, I wonder why. Good sales but way high prices on a lot of other things.

Poor. No shopping carts on east side of storeCart wipes right where u enter so u block the next customer. Customers mud walk further because pick up spots are reserved. Meat and produce departments are great.

The only reason for 3 stars is the wait lines at the checkout counters. Even in peak customer traffic hours of 6 - 9pm, the self checkout counters are closed and you have just one regular lane (not even an express lane) open for customers - which is a ridiculous wait especially when you are just purchasing one or few items. I wish there’s another store that opens up soon in the area that can provide better service and values their customer’s time.

I wish Safeway didnt hate their customers so much. Checkout, no matter what time of day, is always an ordeal. At least at this location, the self check registers are usually functioning, unlike the ones at the Bernal location.

Great selection of beer, wine and liquor to choose from. You can find domestic, imports and IPA. A complete isle dedicated to wines and half isle for liquors

Clean, fully stocked most of the time, great staff and the Wells Fargo on site makes it really convenient. Starbucks is nicely situated and doesnt block any access.

Hit and miss, mostly miss. I rarely post reviews, but the level of customer service has gone down hill. Long lines and checkers dont seem to be well trained.More often than not I will stand at the deli counter and staff will have their backs turned until you get their attention or wait long enough for them to acknowledge that you are waiting for service.With the exception of a few, it doesnt seem like the employees want to be there. No sense of urgency and a lack of energy. Id imagine this is attributed to poor pay and/or store management.The butchers are helpful. The hamburger meat is from unknown sources, they are constantly changing the labeling, but still charging the same price. It is getting more like the meat section at Walmart.One positive, they sell Boars Head lunch meat.Safeway is not the same since the merger with Albertsons.

No service. Only one person Annie at a checkout lane. She was doing a great job, but was the only one there. She called someone to the customer service. Who directed me to the wrong aisle. Finally I stood in line set the checkout counter and Annie directed me correctly. Finally Annie checked out my groceries.

There’s never more than 3 cashiers open, even during busy times. Good selection, but so so produce. Decent.

Alex, the self-checkout guy, did a phenomenal job handling our haphazard transaction. And the best part of it? He handled it professionally, a rarity amongst cashiers in Alameda county. I heartily concur that Alex should be recommended to a management position based on his ability to negotiate tough transactions, holiday hassle, and just plain good sense.
