This is my go-to place for freshly made kimchi. I like my kimchi sweet and crunchy so I like to buy them as new as possible. The medium jar lasts over a week without going sour. I would go more often if it wasnt out of the way for me.

Boo Han is a wonderful, family-owned Korean grocery with a surprisingly wide selection. As an east Portland resident, Ive actually stopped going to Uwajimaya; Boo Han has nearly everything I need.

This is not the biggest Asian market in Oregon, let alone on 82nd but its my favorite in the Pacific Northwest. Its a Korean market but they also have a nice selection of high quality Japanese and Hawaiian items as well. This place is clean and the employees and owners are always very nice and the merchandise is fresh. From the meats to the sweet potatoes to the selection of drinks, homewares and fresh gimbap, I would highly recommend paying Boo Han a visit for all your specialty grocery needs!

Even with Hmart open on Belmont, I still go to Boohan. They have really great produce, and for such a tiny space, they carry a lot of different items. Hmart is nice and all, but their produce is hit or miss. Plus I love that I get to support a local small business, and maybe Im just a mushball, but I feel like I can feel the owners the heart and pride in the store 😄The only things you might not find at Boohan are the fresh sashimi packs and as much variety in ready-made foods. Oh but they sell homemade tofu too, that tastes worlds better than any pre-packaged tofu. Protip, if you get a block of this tofu, you should keep it in Tupperware with just some clean water (just needs to be about halfway full). The tofu will last much longer. Otherwise itll go bad in just a couple days. Yay for natural ingredients!

Beware they knowingly sell expired food products and will not accept returns if opened. Bought microwaveable rice because it was on sale, and it was not consumable. Looked at the package and it expired 1 day after I purchased. Took it back and the store owner said she will not accept. I will be reporting them to the health authorities.

Great place to buy Korean groceries. Carries a lot harder to find sauces, spices, smaller yet important ingredients, frozen ingredients etc. Has been an institute in SE Portland. If you are making a Korean dish and cant find what you need at Fubon, Shun Phat, or Hong Phat, this place will most likely have it.
