This was my first time coming to this shop and I am very happy I did. Daric was great to work with, knowledgeable, and the shop changed the rear tire on my 2005 BMW with zero issues. If you put sealant in your tire, remind them you did. Sorry you got slimed Daric! :) I will certainly be back for any future work needed on my 2 wheeled blitzrakete. Thanks again!

Took in to have a no start issue on my 2006 Ducati S2R 1000. I gave them an unlimited time frame for the work, and they had it solved and running in 3 days total. Very professional and was able to high light some future service and repair issues I hadn’t even considered. Super happy and would recommend.

They know BMW Motorcycles. I recently purchased a 2001 BMW R 1200 C. I knew it needed work that I couldnt even see. I dropped it on Cheshire Motors and told them there was no hurry. They went through that motorcycle and in about a week I had a nice running old BMW. Thank you.

I brought my Ducati in for a major tune and my first experience with this shop. After riding the bike for a month I cannot say enough about the care, attention to detail and professionalism I witnessed. I’m accustomed to feeling like a work order number and never talking to the actual mechanic. Not the case here. Daric and his team do an impeccable job communicating. More importantly, they are extremely detail oriented. Most importantly my bike has never run this well and the difference is so apparent. I highly recommend this shop!

Looked at 3 BMW repair shops in Metro and found Cheshire to be the most amenable, easy to appointment, clear communication and technically able to explain parts, service and needs in a friendly, easy to understand laymen and professional terms. Met all expectations and reviewed my requested items, then further diagnosed other needed issues. R&R as needed. Took it home, through another big downpour on rte. 26. It ran perfectly. Looking forward to many more enjoyable miles. A big vote for a Job Well Done. 2004 RTP

Been bringing my vintage bmw there since they opened and have always got great service and recommendations pertaining to my bike. Derrick has been professional and responsive to questions and has always got my bike done quickly. I do a lot of the work on my bike but sometimes I need some extra help and they have always come through. I have read some negative comments here and I’m sure things have happen but I also understand what it’s like to run a business and also have to work with customers how are impossibly demanding, while trying to fix bikes, order parts, pay employees etc... lots of work. Just my experience.

Leaving a comment here, as Im really surprised at some of the earlier reviews: it really is true that people are way more likely to go out of their way to air grievances than praise.Ive brought many brands of bikes--both new and vintage--to Cheshire over the years, and have always been impressed with the quality of work completed. The staff has been clear about setting expectations for service and parts availability, and have consistently delivered on those promises.(It would be logistically impossible for a shop--any shop--to have spares on hand for all the bikes they service. Schedule ahead: these guys have the experience to know what your bike will need, and the knowledge of where to get it in a timely fashion.)We really are lucky to have options for independent shops in Portland with the tools and experience to properly look after our machines for the years (decades) after the assembly lube has burned off. Cheshire is definitely one of those places!

I brought my BMW here for a bit of service last year and it was done well. Expectations and communications were clear and professional and work was completed per the estimate. They were not able to do my fork seals due to having the large heavy touring model of BMW and directed me to Western to have that done. They gave me a professional recommendation to replace my tires due to wear and they didnt know I had already had that recommendation. That adds up to a solid job and I dont hesitate to recommend them. A quality shop for an older bike and I expect to have it running for some time using them. I just brought my bike in for a minor repair, I do live in Portland, but it isnt the location but the quality that brought me back.

Very poor service. I brought mine and my husbands bike in for its 1500 miles service (oil change) and was told there were issues with both bikes.Problem is, they are both 2013 and under warranty so I told their service manager I would simply like to have them picked up and taken to the dealer for the work they proposed as the bikes were under factory warranty. When my brother and I came to pick up the bikes, I was told they had performed the work (that I never authorized) and that before I could take them from the premise, the repair bill would have to be paid in full.I challenged them on the bill and was immediately met with opposing force from Daric Cheshire. He ordered the bikes be held in the shop and presented me with a bill for nearly $3700.00 for break and clutch work. (again, never authorized)I told him that was unacceptable and took the bikes by force as they were parked in front of their garage door. Daric threw a tantrum and made one threat after another then actually tried to push one of the bikes over as he was acting like a three year old when I asked to see the parts he claimed to have replaced.Needless to say, I ended up taking the bikes to Western and ultimately confirmed there was NO work done on the bikes as Cheshire claimed. The breaks were still factory original and the clutch had NOT been touched. In my opinion, it would appear they were simply trying to take advantage of my kindness and bilking me for repairs that did not exist. In doing further research, my husband and I found Daric was forced from business in California for consumer fraud, deceptive business practices and insurance fraud. He also has had issues here in Oregon that has resulted in numerous consumer complaints directed to BWM USA as he is NOT an authorized factory repair facility.Listen folks, BMW bikes are spendy by nature. Yet when you have some smelly little runt trying to take your money by deception, I highly recommend you use a factory dealership. Cheshire is mere dollars from the labor cost of a reputable dealer.Besides, you need to trust the ones you put your safety into their hands as these are not toy and people need to trust those they have repair their bikes.Daric Cheshire. You are one of the most dishonest little trolls I have ever met. You should be ashamed of yourself and out of business for deceptive business practices.

This is a cool place to go and check out some older beemers, air-heads and the like. It might even be a good place to either sell or buy an older bike. But I dont recommend it for repair. I had them repair my bike after an accident a couple years ago and things went okay. But a couple weeks ago I had trouble starting the bike, drove it over there because it was pretty close and Portland Motorcycle has closed, sadly. Was going to get a battery from them if they had any sealed (gel) ones in stock. They only had lead-acid, so I asked them for a jump to get back on the road, planning to order a gel from them and come back for it. But they wouldnt jump it, saying it wasnt recommended. Okay, thats fine, so I ordered the battery and left it there.Of course it was over the weekend, so the next week I went to pick it up. They had charged me over $100 to put in the batt. and check the bike out. I didnt really like it but didnt say anything at all. He mentioned a few issues of maintenance that I knew needed to be done sooner or later. But communication again was difficult. He said my sprocket and chain were pretty much toast and I asked them how long did he think it could go before definitely needing to be replaced. He shrugged. Depends on how much you use it Its summer, I said, I ride it. I definitely got the impression he was not going to be very talkative about the bikes needs, so I just paid and left.Riding, I noticed my chain slapping against my kickstand, which was strange. I knew it had been getting a little loose, but before I took it in it was not so loose as to be slapping the kickstand. Then I noticed my right signal light getting loose, starting to dangle. I stopped and saw that 2 of the 4 threaded bolts that secure it were missing and the other two were very loose. All total there were 4 missing bolts from the fairing/light assembly. Now if you want to take off the entire fairing to have complete access to the battery, you need to take off or greatly loosen the fastening bolts on at least that side. When you re-attach things, you first put the bolts on loosely, then tighten everything down at once. They had forgotten that last step, unfortunately. So I went back and asked them about it. I got an unbelieving attitude from the guy. I told him I wasnt lying, the bolts were missing and I needed them back. I also told him about the chain slap. He wanted to somehow confirm it was their fault. Sheesh! He knew I wasnt happy so he got the other guy, the guy who I had dealt with a couple years ago (owner?). Instead of an apology, I got defensiveness and an attitude that hey, its not our fault you let your chain get loose! Maybe thats right, but they screwed up on the bolts at the least and I was getting an attitude. I kept my cool though.I dont like having to go back to a mechanic & tell him I noticed something when I drove the vehicle away and then get a defensive well its not our fault attitude about it. Im just relaying a fact after all, not blaming anyone. He also explained the reason they charged $100+ was partly because of a safety inspection. Well what about a chain slapping around is safe to them, not to mention a turn signal falling off? Why cant I simply get communication regarding those safety issues if I just paid for a safety inspection? I dont get it. Needless to say I will never ever bring my bike to these jokers again. Its motorcycle repair meets Portlandia over there.
