My wife and I are pleased to have been using Potsdam Tire & Auto Service for the past decade. Their vehicle maintenance and repair service is consistently excellent. During our earlier three decades of experience with other vehicle repair services in Vermont and other parts of NY state, those other dealers often seemed to overcharge. In contrast, Potsdam Tire surprises us more than occasionally by charging us less than we anticipated. They look for low cost solutions for their customers, and treat customers as they would like to be treated. Honest. And friendly. Highly recommended.

Potsdam Tire and Auto is a great place to bring your car. They take care of you there and they are honest!Last time I went was for a maintenance required light on the dash. They didnt they it was ready and they figured they just forgot to clear and reset the light. They brought it in, checked the oil and filters, checked for the codes, and determined everything was fine and top notch, so they reset the light and said it was on them for forgetting, no charge I insist, saying I should at least pay for labor or something. The manager said no, we dont do that here. This is a family ran business and we take care of our customers!Now how can you beat that? Great service from honest, hard workers. 5 out of 5!

Can not rate this place highly enough. Took my car in for what I thought would have been an easy DIY project but got way over my head and they took my car right in and fixed it. Very knowledgeable staff and they know what they are doing.

Terrible service. Will string you along. Will make you a residual customer by not fixing parts correctly, or leaving things unfixed to make you come back. Do not bother wasting your money here.

Well went for an inspection they didnt even hook it up to the machine charge me $21 didnt even inspect it and then told me that I have a bad tie rod so wouldnt even pass so I have to get a new tie rod but yet again you still charged me $21 and even put my car to the machine to ask her receipt you couldnt give me one because it never got hooked up but you still charged me $21 and then made a big stink about it to all your boys about not hooking

Spent almost $500 to fix a transmission fluid leak, and was leaking worse than originally after a day. I gave the owner a call and he said he’d make it right if i needed a brake or tire job. Well come a few weeks and my battery dies, I figure the price point is the same so i will as least get installation off or something but nope, $175 more when i couldve bought a battery for 120 or cheaper and installed it myself. Very unethical.

I made an appointment for an oil change over the phone and they said it would take approximately 30 minutes ( which was perfect because I didn’t have someone to pick me up) when I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, They told me it would be ready in 45 min to an hour. So, I walked around town, grabbed a few things and returned to find my truck in the same spot. The guy at the cash register who typically takes the money said they were busy and I needed to talk to another guy In the garage area. That guy said another 30 minutes..... well it is currently 30 minutes later and my truck sits in the same spot. My biggest issue is that when I arrived, there were 2 bays open with no one else waiting in the shop or in the parking lot. When I returned from errands it was full. They only thing keeping me from leaving is the fact that I have a long road trip ahead of me and I scheduled this maintenance to be completed just before I left. If you have lots of time to burn or you are dropping your vehicle off I’m sure they are fine.

Received some of the best service l have ever received, they were there when I needed tires and brakes the past winter when other places were closed.

Made an appt. 3 days ahead of time for an alignment, tire rotation and oil change. Dropped my car off and was told Id get a phone call when it was done. 4:30 and no phone call so I assumed they just forgot. Went to pick my car up and was told they didnt have time to get it in. I asked if they could do it the next day and was told I can try but we close at noon. Nope, no thanks, Im never coming back. Id understand if I was a walk-in, but if they cant honor their appointments Id rather do business elsewhere.

Absolutely unreliable. Dropped my car off Wednesday at 10am saying I need my rear brakes looked at I think they need to be replaced. They asked me when I needed it back I told them Thursday before 4:30 they said okay no problem. They call me 2:10 Thursday saying hey you need new brakes in the rear. It took these “professionals” 24 hours to tell me what I told them when I walked in there. I didn’t get my car back and they closed. Totally useless and unreliable. Can’t trust them.

This place is awesome! Dont let the aged building fool you, this is a gem. Mike is professional and kind and obviously loves what he does. Even just sitting in the waiting area you could hear how well he treated his customers and employees. Service was thorough and great prices! 10/10, would auto again!

I’m a college student at Potsdam and I’ve taken my car here a few times. They’re very helpful, honest, and kind. Recently, I had a problem with my transmission. Although they couldn’t fix it themselves, they referred me to a specialist and didn’t charge me for taking a look at it/ hooking it up to their computer. I appreciated that so much. My parents have gotten to know Mike and Mark, the managers. Since I’m 4 hours away from home, they feel comfortable knowing there are trustworthy people I can take my car to.

I went here because of an insurance requirement being that I just leased a new vehicle. I originally spoke with Mike who gave me directions and he was very pleasant and professional. When I got there, he gave me a form to complete, explained it in detail and said it was free and painless. There was also a younger guy there who took care of what was to be done. Unfortunately I did not get his name, but I will say this...I observed him dealing with 2 other customers and his conduct in representing the business with their needs was very professional and polite. He also treated me in the same manner. Being that what was done for me was free, I left feeling guilty that I should have given that guy a tip as a token of how I appreciated his excellent customer service.

Poorest service Ive ever had anywhere bar none. On my way to my mothers funeral my son had a flat tire. Manager said they could fix it and leave the car outside for pickup after hours. When we went back, car was inside still with flat tire and shop closed. No phone call as to why. It took 2 hours to track down the manager to get the car back. Luckily Martins was open. Did I mention my son was from out of town and had to get back to work. Never again!!

Went in for an inspection, had great customer service and got the inspection done in a timely manner. Waiting area was very nice; comfortable temperature, tv and magazines. Would definitely use their services again.

I went there for NY state inspection. They had the balls to charge me 15$ for just putting up my plates. They went ahead with the inspection knowing that my OBDII device was NOT ready and charged be 21$ for it and asked me to come back again to redo the emissions for another 11$ (WHICH I DID NOT). It was then that I decided that I am never ever going to use that place ever again. If you are a student, or if you are someone who makes money doing honest work, do not go here as you can be certain that they would rip you off 99% of the time. However, f you are someone who wants to be charged 15$ to have your plates put up on your car, you are welcome to visit this place.

Brought my car here after I hit a deer. Took them a long time to fix it but once it was done my car drove great, very reasonably priced for the work they did. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs car service in Potsdam.

Called on Friday and asked if they did photo inspections for insurance companies they said yes. Great Ill be there wednesday. Showed up wednesday oh we dont do those anymore great service guys!!!👎

Highly unprofessional. I went there twice. The 1st time was to get my mirror replaced. They lost the bill for it and pretended as if they found it and charged me $120. Since it was my first time, I did not call them out on it. Giving them the benefit of doubt, I went there again, to get my oil changed and I get my car back and I see 2 cigarette packs missing from my glove box. I had just seen 6 marlboro packs in the morning before dropping it off. I had only 4 packs when i got my car back. I called them and asked and of course they said they knew nothing about it. I will never go back again. They are very shady. Extremely pissed off and disappointed.

I have gotten my oil changed here several times. I always call ahead for an appointment and they always seem to have a time to fit me in.Sometimes, it does take longer than others but I suppose that how it is.Oh, if you decide to wait at the place...its FREEZING so dress appropriately. And the waiting area is a little grungy.

This is the best place to get work done on cars, they are honest and will be up front with what is needed to fix your vehicle.

My family has trusted their cars here for years now and so do I they are one of a few places up here where I actually trust that my car is in good hands. The workers are always friendly and I will always recommend them to my friends and family.

I go back 20 years with Potsdam Tire and I recommend them. Mike and John and the guys do their best and they are honest. The best thing about Mike is that he is what I call a thinking mechanic--he will look at the whole situation and tell you what REALLY needs doing, what OUGHT to be done and what can wait. That process has helped me manage a limited budget and a series of old cars successfully. I dont know what these bad reviewers are talking about-- if Mike said it needed doing I would believe him! I think by the way they are written they are non-english speakers who had difficulty understanding and communicating and wanted really minimal repairs when more were needed. Mike would characteristically recommend the other stuff because he thought it needed doing. Yes it would cost more more do you really want to have your car break down enroute you bozo? And oh yes, $100 is NOTHING for a substantial repair.

Avoid this place like the plague. They tried to charge me 120 for a part that coasted 40 bucks. That wasnt even what my car needed and Im still having paroblwms because they gave it the wrong diagnosis. They also charged me way too much to just look at which they didnt even do correctly. And they werent even nice about it

Went in for an alignment. They refused to do the alignment without first tearing apart the entire steering column, which would cost well over a hundred dollars, not including the price of the alignment! It was completely unnecessary to tear apart the steering column- the steering wheel was a little wobbly because the lever for adjusting the adjustable steering wheel was broken, not because of any problem with the entire steering column. I dont know if theyre just incompetent or trying to rip me off, but either way I do NOT recommend this business. The only good thing that I have to say about them is that they did at least ask me before they started working on the steering column, so I was able to get out of it before they charged me. Oh, and Dave- if they can always get you right in, that means that nobody else wants to go there. Not necessarily a good thing.

They tell you sure no problem we can fix it when they actually dont know what is wrong or what they are doing. then when you complain they make up every excuse they can think of because they dont want to admit they dont know . my advice...go to walmart for tires. they stand behind their work and products unlike potsdam tire which is a rip off in my humble opinion

They will ask you buy their tires before you do inspection.🙃I sent my car to them to do inspection.they told me I need to buy four snow tires first, or they not gonna do the inspection, I said I dont wanna buy snow tires, asked them return my car back, manager asked me to go out and wait, after 10 min, they told me they already did the inspection and my car didnt pass the inspection.
