I’ve been to the town shop 3 times, once to try on dresses for my wedding and I told the associate what I wanted and she basically refused to show me any of the styles I was interested in and then when I finally put my foot down on a certain style she brought out a dress wayyyy to small for me( I’m an average size woman, just not a size 2) I couldn’t even try on to see if I liked it. The second time was with a friend for her wedding and again was dismissed on what she wanted to see and we felt the associate was rude and had an attitude the entire time. The last time was for a bridesmaids dress. Since the bride bought her dress there she wanted her girls to go there also. From the moment we walked in the door the associates were rude and unhelpful. My bride did change her mind a few times on what she had wanted but they were extremely rude to her basically demanding she make a choice that day. It was a lot of pressure and stress on her and the entire bridal party. She would have had plenty of time to go home and think about the options we tried on that day but was unable to do so because of the staff pressuring her. Last but not least they made all of us order dresses that were WAY too big. One other bridesmaid and I questioned the size they were ordering for us and they were adamant they were correct: fast forward 6 months and none of the bridesmaids dresses fit and now the alterations cost almost as much as the dresses themselves. There are plenty of places that will make you feel good trying on dresses and are willing to help you. This is not one of those places.

The Townshop was lovely. I found my dream dress and the designer I wanted at this shop. The shop is very hidden and in a strange plaza but it is worth a look. They have a ton of dresses in stock compared to other locations in the Hudson Valley. The seamstresses were very accommodating and kind. I loved the outcome of my dress the day of my wedding. Felt like a princess.

This was the only bridal salon that I went to and tried on about 5 dresses when I found the one I fell in love with and ended up buying. I worked with Gretchen and she was pleasant and helpful but I did get incredibly frustrated when trying to get an idea of when my dress would be in. I was told on multiple calls that it would be at the shop in two weeks, two weeks would go by and I would get the same answer. I was told that I didn’t need to worry until I was less than 90 days away from my wedding date; which at the time of that conversation I was under 90 days. I had my alterations done there and the seamstress was the best part of the whole process, she was attentive and she did amazing work even though not much was needed.Overall, I would cautiously recommend them as long as you have plenty of time before your wedding date and are ok with one sided communication.

Very disappointing and a sad. I say sad because they have great dresses and they could be a really good business. Very rude, everyone, from the owner to the girls that help you out. They talk about the customers (not professional at all) makes you think what will they talk about you when you walk out? Very rude, rude, rude, thats all I can say. I gave a deposit for my dress by never came back because I am not paying to get mistreated. My sister (the bride) and the bridesmaid had the same experience. Very rude to all of us. Never NEVER! recommending this place. AWFUL PLACE! this was supposed to be an unforgettable experience. Now it is! but in a very bad and sour way. DO NOT GO THERE!

0 stars if I could. They are scam artists. They recommend a size thats two sizes too big so you pay even more to get alterations! It happened to my mom. She supposedly chose the most popular dress for mother of the bride in the store. If it was the most popular dress she shouldve been sized correctly. My moms coworker had the same issue with a different style dress when picking out something for her daughters wedding.AND when we went to my seamstress for my own bridal gown, my seamstress said she has another customer that had the SAME EXACT THING happen to her mother. The seamstress was charging that mother $600 in alterations because she was basically making a new dress.STAY AWAY

I came here with my bridesmaids so they can get dresses. Gretchen was the one who helped us and she was kind and assisted us with everything we needed. She took measurements and ordered the dresses...When they came in, at least half of my bridesmaids had dresses that were 2x or 3x too big for them. Now they have to spend the same amount in alterations that they paid for the dress which is very frustrating. Needless to say, they are NOT getting their dresses altered at Town Shop. The owner I think, the man that always walks around, was extremely rude to my mom because she was originally going to get her MOB dress from them, but found one she liked better elsewhere and changed her mind. The owner asked what designer her new dress was that she found at the other store, and when my mom told him jade couture, he responded Really? You want to be one of THOSE mother of the brides that wear jade couture?? and then proceeded to bash the store my mom found that dress in.

Disappointing experience, I did not feel like a bride, and even though I kept saying I didnt want to feel like a cupcake or have a dress with a train, they kept putting me in poofy princess gowns you couldnt sit down in. Maybe its all they have? Brought two friends and they werent allowed to take pictures for my mom that lives abroad. I was planning a wedding in town and I live in town and I was so hopeful Town Shop would make everything convenient... I ended up going to CT and NYC just to avoid this place, after a few months trying to feel better about my body again. Other places definitely let me take photos and had much more competent and efficient sales associates. My favorite dress, which I found after a lot of research and soul searching after my bad experience, even ended up being one from a designer Town Shop carries, but it needed to be special requested and there was a waiting list; even then, I went out of my way to avoid trying it on at Town Shop. I drove to another state just to avoid the shop. Town Shop had a captive audience and it should work harder to keep our business, frankly.

I ordered my bridesmaids dress through Town Shop for my sister’s wedding. When I was in the store placing the order they did quick measurements on me and said I needed a size 8. I thought this was strange because my wedding dress that I ordered from another local bridal shop that I wore a few months earlier was a size 0. I understand different brands can vary is sizes, but I never been an 8. I mentioned to to the woman taking my measurements and she brushed it off as “it’s easier for us to take in then let out.” I didn’t think much more of it. When my dress came in, it was huge on me. There’s absolutely no way I’d be able to wear this dress without getting it tailored.A few weeks later my mother who also ordered her dress for the wedding through Town Shop had the same thing happen to her. Her dress was huge on her and there would be no way she’d be able to wear it with tailoring. In conversation with a friend about this incident, she said Town Shop is known for ordering dresses way big so that you’re basically forced to do expensive tailoring options through them. I obviously expected to do small alterations with any dresses that I ordered, but I didn’t expect to have to make major alterations for basically a whole new dress size. My alterations cost almost as much as I paid for the dress. My mother and I decided to go elsewhere for tailoring, because this whole experience at Town Shop felt awful and very dishonest, and they should really be ashamed of their sneaky sales techniques.

As a small business owner myself, I do not like to write negative reviews. However, this business needs to be held accountable. I ordered a dress for my daughters wedding in mid April. Through no fault of the shop, it arrived with incorrect measurements. The way the shop handled the mistake is where they failed me as a customer. They told me they were ordering a new dress but then proceeded to give me the run around right up to three days before my daughters October wedding. It caused unnecessary stress and wasted time when I had hoped to be focused on my daughter. In the end, the correct dress never arrived and I was faced with having to wear a dress that was too small for me. The staff did not express regret or even seem to care much that this had happened. In fact, on the Tuesday before the wedding, when I returned the owners call regarding the incoming order, he didnt even remember who I was or why I was calling. Clearly, I was not even on his radar, despite having been through the wringer with them for a month. I can not recommend this business to anyone. What should have been a happy time was more stressful than need be because of this shop.

I bought my wedding dress from the Town Shop and they were totally awesome. I was so excited about getting married and SO dreading dealing with dress shopping, fitting, etc. The dress became the focal point of all of my anxiety about the wedding planning process, and I avoided it until I couldnt avoid it anymore. I tried to get around it lots of ways, searching for vintage dresses, even entertaining sewing my own dress, but in the end my sister convinced me to give an actual wedding dress shop a try. My sister had met the owners daughter once and suggested I contact them because she thought they would be down-to-earth and not crazy sales-people-ish (I am shy and wary of super enthusiastic sales people). The Town Shop team were very kind, not at all pushy, and made my whole experience there feel graceful and easy. They were really careful with my measurements, and even called me to triple check one (and walk my fiance through taking it, which was hilarious) because I hadnt bought my shoes when I went for my fitting. In the end, the dress (from Allure) was perfect, and I felt gorgeous and stress-free wearing it (which is saying something for this jeans and a sweater preferring bride!). Because I had waited so long to get The Dress Situation rolling, my dress had to be rushed, but when it arrived, their seamstresses had taken great care to cut the complicated lace and re-sew it where they took in the hem and the shoulders so that I couldnt detect the new seams to save my life. I had booked a just-in-case appointment with a seamstress in my home town, and didnt need it at all!I would recommend this family business to anyone, especially brides who want to find a beautiful dress that they feel like themselves in without a crazy amount of stress. Gary, the owner, has a great sense of humor, which was a major bonus for me, it took the edge off the awkwardness of standing on a podium with several people attaching pins to my clothing! I also so appreciated the experience of all the people working there- theyve clearly been working together in this business for a long time, and it comes across in the care and calm I felt each time I spoke with or saw them.I have so much gratitude and such happy memories of my dress fitting experience, and I would *never* have predicted that I would write that.

The shop was not busy at that time so they didnt understand and were quite upset on how they were talked down to by this adult. There is no sign saying that young adults (perspective buyers) are limited to a certain amount of dresses to try on if not accompanied by a parent.

I saw at least 4 of them and none acknowledged me. Finally on my way out I was approached by Ali saying Oh when is your prom Mind you I attended prom 6 years ago and am now engaged and will be married in 9 months. After her rude gestures and apparent attitude, she stated that the store is closing and that I would need to come back with an appointment. I was kindly kicked out 15 minutes before the stores closing time. She was very insulting and demanding. Long story short I will absolutely not be arranging an appointment there. THE TOWN SHOP – NOT RECOMMENDED! This is an unbelievable story… called to inquire about dresses for a wedding, Gary (owner) confirmed, yes he could get them in time, but WOULD NOT GIVE PRICE… insisted you had to go to his shop in person in two days, although it was explained that all girls were all over the country and time was of the essence so we could zero in. After I explained … he hung up on me! I guess his business is not that important to him, as it is evident in the poor way he treats people. His poor treatment and rude attitude on the phone was shocking and unprofessional? What a joke... how the heck do you stay in business by treating the public like garbage, especially those that are in the beginning stages - potential future business? I definitely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND doing any business with THE TOWN SHOP. If this is the way he treats people in the beginning, and we haven’t even placed an order, how can you trust him or his shop to deliver? Staff usually follows by leadership example. NOT ME, NO WAY! I’ll take my good money (lots of it because there are several dresses needed) to a highly recommended dress shop, one that is caring & professional, any of his competitors – those that will really appreciate our business!

The town shop has a large selection of bridal dresses. But if there was a option for 0 stars thats what I would rate them. First off, we came to look at the selection of dresses on a tablet before scheduling an appointment to try in the upcoming weeks. We were completely rushed and not even given the opportunity to say what style and type of dress the ( bride) was looking for. As her sister, I tried to describe the style dress and all I kept being told was they have over 400 dresses. I understand that but in order to narrow a selection the style is very important. I have a 10 month old son who was with us for 45 minutes while looking at a tablet. The women who came over to rush us proceeded to say that when my sister made her appointment to come back that my son was not welcome. He was laughing and talking to himself and minding his own business.. When asked to come during his nap ( am I suppose to leave him home alone) or to get him a babysitter I found it extremely rude. They just lost a sale of a wedding dress and 10 bridesmaids dresses, flower girl and parents as well. I would highly recommend Lady Grey in Beacon as my son was also there with us ( crying) and not once were we told he was not welcome, in fact she scheduled our next appointment around when I could come back with him!! Town shop is a joke and no bride or bridesmaid deserves an expirence like that EVER.

This is really a terrible excuse for a business. I highly suggest that any bride run in the complete opposite direction from this place if possible. I visited Town Shop in March of 2018 to shop for bridesmaid dresses for my October wedding. I was initially mocked by the sales staff because I had purchased my wedding gown elsewhere, and they seemed hesitant to work with me because I was not a Town Shop Bride. The sales staff had little to no knowledge of what bridesmaid dresses came in what colors or designs, and my Maid of Honor and I were essentially told to pick a dress we liked and then they could try to figure out what colors it came in. To make a long story short, we selected two dresses that we liked. The shop has a policy that they only order bridesmaid dresses in a group order, and will only do so after all members of a bridal party have submitted their measurements. This was never communicated to myself or the members of my party. 3 months after my girls submitted measurements I called to check on the status of the dresses, only to find out the order was never placed. The store not only miscommunication with us, but misplaced measurements for one of my girls and would not place the order until she came in to be remeasured. I was also told that now the dresses would not probably not arrive in time for my wedding. I was very upset, needless to say, and the owner offered to rush the dresses for me to make up for everything. It was very clear after almost 3 more months of waiting that the owner never rushed the dresses for me. Each time I called to check on the status of the dresses, I spoke with clueless staff who had no idea where they were. By August, I was calling weekly to check on the dresses. After submitting measurements in March, my girls finally received their dresses in mid-September, only 2 weeks before the wedding. Town Shop offered no sympathy or apology on their behalf. There was no restitution, reimbursement, or waive of alterations fees. Instead, when I called to express my disapproval, the owner berated me, told me that I had an awful maid of honor who can not seem to handle any responsibility and argued with me, and claimed I was putting words in his mouth. He did not seem to have any recollection of offering to rush my dresses and didnt seem to feel bad about the mistakes whatsoever. I literally cannot believe the customer service this business considers acceptable. I have never encountered a business owner/sales associates who treat people so poorly, or a business that functions so ineffectively. Do yourself a favor and avoid Town Shop at all costs

I had the most wonderful experience with the Town Shop! I had visited several other bridal salons prior, and had not been impressed with the service or the dresses available. I was feeling really down about the whole process and kind of assuming I would finally have to settle on a dress I didnt love (which is a shame, because this should be one of the most exciting parts!). However, Kathys team was so kind, inviting, and very talented. They made suggestions on dresses, helped schlep them to the dressing room, and offered really great tips and advice while I was trying on. Kim was constantly running back and forth to get different belts (thick, thin, bejeweled, satin sash, etc.) to get the perfect look, and Kathy had the best suggestions on ways to modify the dresses to get a really unique look. The dress of my dreams ended up being the second dress I tried on, but I forced myself to try on everything we had picked out to be sure. At the end when we came back to that dress I knew beyond doubt that it was the one. I would highly recommend Town Shop to any future bride!!

I bought my bridesmaids dress here and my experience was 100% pleasant from start to finish. Let me add that I am pregnant so they helped me choose the right size for my growing body. I am always surprised how long it takes to order a dress but while other people in my bridal party at other stores had to pay for a rush fee, I was able to get my dress with no rush fee. Something I didnt like about the store was that the decor is kind of run down and the bench in the changing room looks so old that skeeved me out a little bit. But otherwise Im happy with the experience

I purchased my wedding dress and, my cathedral length veil from Town Shop Bridal for my wedding August 12, 2016. From my first consultation to my last fitting, they were a complete pleasure to work with. They accommodated me when I came early, even opening the store half an hour early to get my appointment started. My dress was absolutely perfect the day of the wedding! The only criticism that I have is that there was a small black stain on the train of my dress but because of my large skirt with an infinite amount of ruffles, it wasnt noticeable so I did not panic. I absolutely loved both of my seamstresses! They made me laugh and made the appointments so personable! Thank you Town Shop Bridal for having the dress of my dreams!

Ordered a HUGE size just to charge ridiculously EXPENSIVE alterations. Unreal that you would order a bridesmaid dress 2 sizes too big and alter the dress down to the correct size for 100 dollars. Unfair. Owner initially told us just as the website says that all alterations are included if we bought Bridal Dress and all Bridesmaids dresses there-but changed his mind when it came time to deliver the dresses. Owner complains he wont be able to stay in business-well, you just lost our business after all the dresses weve bought there for proms and parties, never ever again!

Words cannot express my hatred towards the Town Shop and their employees. Firstly, they are absolutely inappropriate and treat their customers like s***. The manager is INCOMPETENT. Take it from me, my best friend got hired there and they fired her the following day because a past employee (with more experience) had come back. She was NEVER paid for the one day she worked, nor was she given proper notification of termination. She had to constantly call them but they continued to ignore her. Apparently, they welcomed her and made her think that she was a wonderful attribute but fired her after one day, even though she didnt do anything wrong. In fact, she was complimented by every employee in the store for learning everything so quickly on her first day. Also, I went to the Town Shop with my other friend a few months ago and the employees were so rude to us. We could hear them talking about us while we were in the dressing rooms. The same day, there was a verbal argument between two employees. They had ZERO discretion and were cursing in front of the customers. I was uncomfortable! I talked to my friend about this (the one who was hired for that one day) and she added that the girls who work at Town Shop ridicule every person that comes through the store. When a chubby girl came into the store, the employees were laughing at the girl who was trying on dresses.I was disgusted by this story because one should not feel this way in a store while trying on dresses. Thats just absurd and beyond rude.My other friend who got married last year told me a story about how Town Shop accidentally ordered the wrong color of her wedding dress and she ended up wearing a dress that she didnt feel confident about. My friend who worked there told me that the store is very scared of customers who come in, try on their dresses, but go home and order it straight from the website. My opinion: ignore these rude and unprofessional people and order your prom dresses online. If anything, use them to try on the dresses, write down the serial number for the dress, and purchase it online. If you are a bride: STAY AWAY! Ive been told that they DONT take certain things seriously. Its just not worth it!

Horrible customer service but numerous employees of the Town Shop. I went in first to look at bridesmaid dresses and when I shared that I had not started looking for a dress 10 months before the wedding, I was told well you better hurry it youre way behind. The only reason I gave it a two and not a zero was the bridal consultant was very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, I bought a bridal dress under pressure and didnt like it shortly after. The owner was extremely unpleasant on the phone several times even to the point of not listening to me and raising his voice. He even told me I should just take the dress and wear it anyway, even after expressing several times that I do not want or like the dress. My calls were also not returned by the owner several times. What happened to a customer is always right and customer satisfaction. I went back to a Majesty Bridal in Danbury and had an amazing experience with a very helpful consultant who was patient and gave me great advice and feedback on each dress. She did not pressure me into deciding, allowed me to take pictures to see myself in the dress first and knew what I was looking for. I wouldnt step foot back in the town shop, not recommend them ever. Other friends have also had negative experiences also and have gone elsewhere for dresses.

I just had a great experience at Town Shop and I almost didnt go because of the reviews - so I feel like I needed to share. I walked into the shop, without an appointment. I was politely told I needed an appointment to try on dresses. The shop was busy and the owner spoke with a few other customers while I waited to look through dresses and schedule an appointment. While waiting, the other owner came out and immediately got me into a dressing area with my fabulous stylist, Kim.Kim listened while I explained my dress vision, and that this was my 8th time trying on dresses. Kim handed me there digital catalogue, while she went and pulled dresses. The very first dress I put on took my breath away. We continued to try on gowns, which Kim was great at getting me in and out of - something I appreciate after many meh bridal attendants. I finally put back on my dress and knew. I put down my deposit, and couldnt be happier or more surprised that I finally found my dress. My advice: make an appointment, ask for Kim, and dont bring children with you. Enjoy!!! Oh, and there staging areas are wonderful!

Family owned since 1937, same family for almost 100 years - thats a legacy hard to come by these days and its cool to be a part of it. i appreciate how rare and special a business like this is in this world of pop-up shops and instagram clicks. with the town shop, finding and preparing the dress is about getting back to the heart and having an experience. theres also hundreds of dresses in the store and everything is professional and top notch. its a special store and I love it; you will too. when i say I do ill be extra confident because ill be wearing 100 years of family values: hard work, commitment and love. its important to know the Town Shop story and im excited and proud to where a dress from there. i didnt expect it to mean so much! my dress is more than a look, now its a story and an experience, one that has meaning. My Town Shop dress represents enduring love, a commitment to success, tireless work ethic and a dose of resilience...is there anything more beautiful than that?

I had my 2month old with me and she was sleeping the whole time but woke up and needed to be changed and when I asked, if there was somewhere I could change my baby, the sales women stated that, we dont cater to babies here. For a wedding dress to come in) anyways when my dress came in I went to see/try it on @ DB & when I did my dress was a mess...stains,beading falling off ect ...So, there I was 2months before my wedding with no dress & no one wanted to help me find a dress because they didnt have that 3-4month time frame to order. ..until I came across Town Shop Bridal...these women took me in, ordered a dress for me, and more importanly did mega alterations for me. My dress had no slevees and I wanted sleeves so they said no problem & sure enough I had my sleeves. All in all the ladies were my fairy God mothers ..They were able to get me any dress I wanted and transform it into my dream ! Thank you guys!

RUDE —DISRESPECTFUL— UNFRIENDLYIf Google allowed me to rate a zero with a middle finger sticking up that’s what I would give this place. It only took TWO mins for me to be shown out the door because “I didn’t have an appointment” I wanted to simply look at dresses not even try them on but I was told I could not do so. I was not welcomed and boy was it shown! It seems this place charges $25 for appointments which I only found out reading other reviews, probably charging brides because since their going out of business they need all the money they can get!Well Town Shop I don’t know how you are so stumped as to why your business is failing. You are so damn rude and ruin the special experience every bride hopes to have! You don’t know how to talk to people and it seems cracking a smile is difficult. If you are an “appointment only” dress shop I would think you would put up signs in the store and have it advertised on your website. But no, you are so quick to charge a buck but give nothing in return to make people want to come back.LADIES SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND DON’T VISIT THIS HOLE IN THE WALL.

Its too bad they could have had my business because they are one of the few stores that have the designer I wanted. Debbie, was absolutely fantastic and made everything so incredibly easy. She found the perfect dress, in which the seamstress, did an amazing job on the alterations. I was able to purchase an expensive designer gown, in store, for half of its original price. There was one slight miscommunication where the store closed and we had to work around some tight schedules for my final fittings, but other than that, my experience was great. GO SEE DEBBIE! I wish i read the reviews before i went to Town Shop Bridal. I am in retail myself and a man who is in his 50s, i have never been a part of such horrible customer service in my life, ever. My fiancee and I walked in to the store a woman came over to help us fairly quickly and asked if we knew what we were looking for. Both of were married once before and decided to have a nice ceremony for immediate family in our back yard. She started showing us dresses but we didnt want to go over a certain price... the sales woman laughed at us and said i cant even show you bridesmaids dresses at that price. She did however show us 7 in that price range before we walked out because of her rudeness, she made comments after every dress my fiancee said no too . I decided enough was enough when my fiancee said she liked one she had brought over to us and we asked how much it was .... she stopped in the middle of her conversation and looked straight into my fiances eyes and said i told you 3xs already every dress im bringing to you is the price you gave me... I said ok we will take it and as she went to the counter to get the info we just kept walking to the door. I was a half hour experience of pure hell. Like all the other negative reviews I just dont understand how they are still in business. I know this review doesnt do what happened to us justice and ive never wrote a review before, but ive never been treated like that in a place of business or anywhere else.

If I could give this place a lower rating I would!! I travel a lot for work and let them know I would need my bridesmaid dress in within a certain timeframe...they agreed to the timeframe, which meant they had over 2 months to get the dress dyed and back to me, thats it! They couldnt accomplish that and didnt even bother letting me know. All our dresses, myself and 3 other bridesmaids, should have been in last month and they have yet to arrive. Anytime anyone asks for information we are given the run around. Most of the time they hang up or just say that it doesnt matter that theyre not in cause we still have plenty of time before the wedding. These people should not be in business!!! They are inconsiderate and have no work ethic. They even have the audacity to lie to our faces and when confronted they blow you off. Youd be better off going to a goodwill store that having them ruin whatever occasion youre trying to celebrate!

If youre a picky person like me you have to come here because their selection size cant be beat. The first dress I tried on was immediately miles above anything I had tried on at other stores. And at no point did I feel rushed in any way. They were very respectful about offering honest opinions and when I did find my dress they were all so kind with their compliments that I have no second thoughts about it.The only downside is that they dont allow you to take pictures until youve decided to purchase the dress so I recommend going there after youve done your research so you can decide during your first or second visit. This was by far the worst experience Ive ever had. Being both a bride-to-be and a bridesmaid I have been to several shops and would never recommend this establishment to anyone for any reason. When I tried to call ahead to get help finding a specific style I was told that they were too busy to help me, I needed to drive out to Poughkeepsie before they would look for it. So I made the drive to Poughkeepsie and the sales associate that came over was the rudest human being I have ever encountered. I didnt catch her name but she had red hair. When I asked for her help finding the style I called about she waved to the store and said Look at all this, you have to look for it yourself. We have too many designers for us to know them all. Then she simply walked away. When I asked to see if she could look up the style in the computer since I had the designers style number to make sure it was in stock she simply gave me attitude and told me to look for it. I left without even trying a single dress on. If the employees arent willing to help me spend my money I can vote with my dollar in a shop that is better.

They have nice dresses, but the customer service was/is horrible. The price for the alterations are too high. I understand some alterations, but not when you are altering the whole dress; which I dont understand especially when they take your measurements; so in essence, you will pay double the price for your dress. I guess that is where they make their money. This is not the same Townshop I use to patronize 20 - 30 years ago.I will never do business with them again. I will be going to Davids Bridal or elsewhere for formal dresses. They would really receive no star, but Im unable to post if I do not hit one star.

If you enjoy violent employees who try to steal your dress, please go to Town Shop!I recently purchased a bridesmaid dress there and brought it to a tailor other than Town Shop, due to long time use of this tailor by the bride and her family with nothing but happy results. When I initially brought it to the tailor, we found out after many various unsuccessful adjustments, that the dress was sewn crooked by the manufacturer. It was suggested that the dress be brought back to Town Shop and to have a new one ordered and give back the one originally purchased.Town Shop was called twice, informing them that a new dress needed to be ordered with expedited shipping, in order to arrive on time for the wedding. I was given several reasons as to why they couldnt do this, Theres no way the dress is sewn crooked, we know the designer and have never had a problem, I dont think you understand how this thing works, they dont always have dresses in stock!, Sure, we can add expedited shipping to your order for a fee. I told them that this was completely unacceptable with the wedding being a month away. I was then asked to hold and then a couple of minutes later, Gary, the owner got on the phone. He asked me to come in so that he could see how it was not sewn properly before he ordered a new one. Fair enough.I went to Town Shop this past Thursday with another member of the bridal party. I tried on the dress, showing the seamstress, Wendy, where the dress was pinned by the other tailor and I explained to her why it was sewn crooked. She told me that it was not crooked and took the pins out to adjust it. After about 7 attempts from her and another seamstress trying to adjust it as tight as possible around my torso, each time with me telling them that it was way too tight and that I couldnt even breathe, the other member of the bridal party asked Gary to come over, due to the adjustments not going well and Wendy becoming short, interrupting, and being very rude. Gary came over and began asking me what was wrong, while looking at the dress. I was told that there was not something wrong with the dress but my body instead! The person I was with began to reiterate what I had been saying was wrong with the dress and then Gary put up his index finger to this persons face and said, Shhhh, Im not talking to you, Im talking to her, so youll need to be quiet now! An argument ensued from the complete lack of disrespect and rudeness from Gary and Wendy. We were told to leave the store and that we did not deserve to be there. No one even unpinned me and I had to unpin myself before going to change. While in the changing room, I could hear the argument continuing. I walked out and had Wendy tell me how rude we were. (Really?!). I told her that it would have never gotten to this point if her and Gary had not interrupted us several times and shown a complete lack of disrespect for us.She suddenly became calm, like a calm before a big storm. At this point, I was standing at the counter with my dress in my hands and her behind the counter. She pointed to the same dress that I had but a sample, and explained that she wants me to try it on, that its a size 12, and she just started babbling random things about the dress that werent even relevant to the situation. I explained to her that if the problem was going to go back to being resolved, that she had to actually listen to us and not interrupt and be rude. She started telling me that she needed that from us (we werent rude to them until after we were repeatedly disrespected, so this made no sense to us). All of the sudden she looked at me and something in her eyes told me that she just mentally lost it and snapped. She gritted her teeth at me and screamed, YOU DONT WANT THE DRESS?!! and then leaned over the counter and started ripping it out of my hands! I was in complete and utter shock! I ended up leaving and calling the police due to an injured wrist from her grabbing the dress. I will NEVER go back here for ANYTHING EVER AGAIN!

Will say, they have a decent amount of dresses and was able to come in the same day to try on the dress I wanted. Although had to pay a refundable $25 fee for booking an appointment, not a terrible thing but definite a turn off. Drive an hour out of my way to try on the dress, get there and tried explaining how I tried on a similar dress the day before, and it was like they just werent listening to me. The lady kept saying I was trying on the 2 dresses, even after I just said I already tried on the one. Whatever, but it was obvious they were being inattentive to what I wanted. Then they kept asking for the style number, I already gave them the name of the dress, more than enough information for them to look it up themselves. I will say they were having computer issues, but easy enough to look up on your phone, which the lady ended up doing. So fine. Then I try on the dress, go to take a picture and the lady informs me no pictures, I explained again how I tried on the other dress and wanted to compare, I would also like to send the picture to my mom & sister before purchasing. They told me I could skype (which makes no sense because someone could screen shot it.) Im not going to buy a wedding dress without showing it to my mom or sister first, and neither of them use skype. Basically a waste of a trip, wouldve just gone to a place that allowed pictures, they werent the only one with the dress. Also felt a lot of pressure, was asked several times if I was purchasing that day. Theyre also overpriced, the dress I am interested in is $1350, they told me $1600 with alteration. What if I didnt need $250 worth of alterations? Or wanted to use my own seamstress. Old policies, they need to get with the times.

Second time I brought a dress at Town Shop worse job in alterations in both occasions.  First dress, uneven hem. Shorter in back, then front of dress. Second dress, the hem was a disaster. Lost the entire look of the dress after being taken in and hemmed. Lost all the beautiful detailed work in the dress flower applique pattern. They claimed it was a removable hem. That was not true nor the case. The entire dress was altered to a different look all together to make the sale of an expensive dress $$$$$ and not to mention  an additional $$$$ for hemming in alternations. The Town Shop is only looking for you to say, YES TO THE DRESS. Not in the interest of customer needs as ALL Dresses are paid in full and NON-REFUNDABLE prior to the sale of dress.Such a racket when you pay up front and you get a lousy seamtress who doesnt know how to alter dresses. Same seamtress did both the dresses and ruined both gowns.Thats a big investment on your special occasion only to be lost in alterations and still have to pay for their mistakes in alternations regardless of errors.Shop wisely and make sure you dont need a lot of alternations to the dress otherwise your stuck with the dress and all the mistakes made in the alternations with absolutely NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES.  Which are noted on the contract of their receipt. Which protects them from errors of any alterations that needs to made of any kind.Yes, I still wore both dresses as I had no other options and paid out big $$$$$ for the dresses as well as big $$$$ for all the alterations needed just to be hanging in a closet. It reflects on them when others sees their mistakes and will proudly say and tell others of their rightly mistakes owned by Town Shop. After all its bought and paid for in FULL to show and tell everyone of their great honorable work of mistakes no matter how good or bad it looks even if its not met to your expections. Let it go, as even the most exquisite dress can have a wardrobe malfunction.

My SIL found her wedding dress at the Town Shop and had a wonderful experience with the bridal consultant who helped her try on gowns. Unfortunately, that is the only positive thing I can share about this shop. I was measured for a bridesmaid gown and when it came in, it was 3 sizes larger than my normal dress size. I understand bridal dresses run small but this dress did not fit me at all and required a lot of alterations. I talked to the staff about this and they immediately became defensive and rude. They accused me of thinking they are running scam (which I did not bring up but do believe that they have that practice). I had also spoken to a gentlemen on the phone whom I later found out is the owner. His own staff admitted he didnt know anything about how alterations work and seemed annoyed with him. When I told them I didnt think it was fair to pay for alterations I shouldnt have needed in the first place they told me to leave and go somewhere else. I was shocked at how unprofessionally they handled a customer who was not happy with the service being provided. I strongly recommend finding your dress at another store that treats their customers better and offers fair pricing.
