Pleasant walk through attractive grounds. Nice selection of fountains and pots. Good selection of well kept, good quality plants. Lots of helpful staff.
I really, really wanted to like this place in Prescott but I felt underwhelmed. The place seemed understaffed and the quality of plants was okay. No personal attention in helping us select trees. Areas felt poorly marked and stocked. Not a lot of attention to detail. It felt like more focus was on the landscaping than the nursery. The landscaping did have a nice selection of landscaping rocks.
Great prices. Good selectionGood service.
Needed to pick up a large amount of starter soil for some garden beds as well as straw and some organic additives for the soil also pick up a nice tree, they have a helpful and friendly staff as well as a fairly good selection of plants and trees. I will be back. Update: The straw bales we purchased were for use in building lasagna style garden beds, well it turned out they were a bit heavy on seed still in the straw, I am guessing that it is oat from the look of it, but I will say we tried going to another source after that and it turned out to have even more seed. We will use it to our advantage and just chop and drop it as it grows feeding the favorite plants.
Helpful, knowledgeable, just too expensive and no smaller options.
The original plans that my mother-in-law, wife and I agreed to were great. As with anything there are changes. We had our entire front yard upgraded to the tune of $20,000.00+. So that being said, the flagstone walk had to be pulled up because the workers didnt understand what ADA accessable is. I was having 2 major surgeries just after completion and would have to use a wheelchair. The yard looks great with the exception of the corner of main retaining wall. It was cut at 45degree angles and not anchored. So within months it started to split. I made several calls and finally the owner Gary said he would honor the work. His solution was to water less. Needless to say that wasnt the answer. A month later he was out again. Said it was our fault and left. After almost 2 years later I can physically pull the stones off and there is a 2+ gap. I would NEVER RECOMMEND Mortimers for landscaping, they dont stand behind their work.
Seems like they have nice, healthy plants, and a good selection. Prices were a bit higher than some other nurseries, but the plants looked bigger and healthier. They have some sort of system where you get points with each purchase worth about 5% off your next visit...if you save the receipt.
They did an amazing job on my yard! Helped me to pick out the rock to make my yard and house POP. Professional, knowledable and just down right nice people, I would recommend them to everyone.
Always helpful. My go to place for an gardening lover.
Maddie was a great help. Excellent customer service! Thank you!
From fat Albert spruce to the prettiest flowers something is always blooming at Mortimer nursery the friendly staff is very knowledgeable and eager to help!!
Very unsatisfactory experience. Lets start - the staff was very nice, but.....I obtained a quote for some product over the phone from Gary, when I got to the store, which is an hour away and over mountains the price was suddenly 8-½% more. I also needed to rent some help since the product is very heavy and I would need to make two trips. The first trip went without a hitch, when I came back for the second load - for which I had called ahead to make sure it was still there - the product had been sold out from under me. So I had rented help again and had nothing to show for it. My rented help cost me $150, and Mortimer was unwilling to make any kind of adjustment for my added expense and time. Apparently their desire to keep customers satisfied is non existent and they are only interested in the bottom line.I will never go there again and will recommend to anybody I know to do the same.
We spent a lot of time picking out the prefect tree. We narrowed our decision down to two trees, one was cheaper but had a tiny spilt tree trunk, the other was higher price and lots of healthy leaves. According to the nursery’s owner, the higher price tree was a better choice. We purchased the tree, paying extra to have it delivered and planted. The delivery time was almost four weeks from the time of the purchase, because the nursery was extremely busy, we thought they would take care of the tree during the four week wait time; we came in once and our tree was lying on its side. We asked the nursery worker to please pick it up, which he did; however we never went back into the nursery to check on the tree. Now, I wish we would have. When they delivered the tree on Wednesday we were shocked how bad it looked, it looked worse that the tree with the tiny spilt truck. Most of the beautiful leaves were gone, some of the leaves crumbled when you touch them. The nursery was out of stake to help keep the tree straight, we have to wait a week for that to be done. So disappointed .
Wow! Excellent customer service and plant knowledge, not to mention beautiful trees and plants.
5 trees and 2 bushes all died from there to the tune of $1100! No guarantees either. Staff is nice and helpful but it ends there. Think they may buy 2nd tier plants. Now I go to their competitor on Iron Springs Rd. Poorly run business. Just telling it like it is.
Will NEVER do business with Mortimers Nursery EVER again. My wife and I purchased almost 4000.00 worth of trees/shrubs and flowers from this Nursery. But before they could deliver our water Well pretty much dried up. Unable to adequately water these new trees, we tried to have the purchase refunded. But Mortimers refused to refund us and gave us a store credit only. (We had to buy a 2500 gal water holding tank to help with our weak Well production) So we changed our order to 5 trees instead of 8 and had some landscaping rocks delivered instead. We were told at that time that we still had a 300.00 credit. They assured us that when they delivered the trees they would, at that time, run our drip system to our new trees. But when they got to our house the landscaping techs told us that they were never told (and it wasn’t on ‘their’ receipt) to run the drip system to our new trees and they’d have to charge extra. They also said they’d have to charge extra for the supporting poles. Plus the trees they delivered were NOT the ones we had picked out. They told us we owed them more $$ for the extra services that we were told would be part of the services. We paid what they said we still owed, but rest assured WE WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH MORTIMERS EVER AGAIN. They lied, stole and cheated us out of almost 400.00. I highly recommend taking your business to any other nursery. RUN, don’t walk away from Mortimers Nursery. They are RIP OFF artist.
Nice garden and horrible apathetic customer service. You are ignored from the minute you walk in the door unit when you leave. The exception is the deli staff- they are awesome. Customer service is the key n any business. This place would do well to realize that, if they greeted guests as they came in and thanked them as they left, customers would have a much better experience. The garden is great but the treatment of guests is horrible.
Great place for all your plantingneeds! The staff is great, genuine A+customer service!
I shop at Mortimer because, like most locals, I enjoy supporting a locally owned business. I generally didnt mind the above average prices because I felt like it was worth it to go local. Unfortunately, I will not be continuing this policy after the customer support disaster I experienced today.I had a delivery confirmed of some landscaping material. After being 2 hours late and still without my delivery, I decided to call and inquire as to what had happened. It became obvious that they had completely forgot about the order. I was obviously upset as I had taken time off to make this appointment. After asking for a refund, the owner refused. After asking for a waive of the delivery fee, the owner refused. So what were my options? I was told that my delivery was on time for a morning delivery, but hey it was 12:15 when I called so who knows when a morning delivery is anymore. After one rude employee after the other, and then an agitated owner I cannot recommend this business.
Never returned my call!
Worked with Suzie and Karen today, always a great experience going into Mortimers! Ended up buying lots and lots of bushes for our yard. They just received a new shipment so you better get in there while the getting it good. Happy shopping! Kurt
I have been in the landscape and tree service business for years and I regret letting Dorn Homes convinced me to use Mortimers for our landscape as at that time they were the designated landscaping company for Dorn Homes in my new division. The quality and attention to details was horrible. The owner became very angry with any complaints and even blamed Dorn Homes. After a while they would not return my calls and when I walked in, magically the owners were not available but I am certain they were upstairs in the office screening the requests. We had to hire another company to make it right. Certainly not worth the thousands of $$$ and headaches. Do not recommend this company!!!
Fabulous customer service! Great place to have a birthday party! We were greeted with everything we ordered (food, drinks, music, tables, chairs). A great time had by all!
Very helpful staff
Horrible company. They did substandard.landscape work and the angry owner (Gary) refused to correct it. Had to hire another local landscape company to fix the issues. Once things go bad you can forget them returning phone calls and when you walk in for contact, no one is in to talk to so they say. Beware and go somewhere else. Just read the other reviews as their ratings are horrible!
Only prices on most of large trees, but if you want smaller plants, perinials, annuals... if you want to buy, each plant your interested in you will have to take in and have priced, which is ridiculous. Two ppl asked me for help and when I asked for prices, they said if it doesn’t have an orange tag on it you have to bring them in Offc... I’ll just go to Lowe’s.
Cutest little nursery with great variety. The employees are so friendly, and welcoming
Took off work to wait and have our tree delivered and planted today as we have had an appointment for weeks. Waited all day. I called three times...said they were having a bad day. Said they would call back when she could give a better time. Never called back after any of my calls. Finally at 5:00 the guys showed up. The lead man said he called the office and told them to call customers and say they were running late. They NEVER called us. Seems like its not the fault of the guys that are planting the trees that we were not called. Its the POOR customer service! In this day and age of ubiquitous cell phones, a courtesy call would have been simple. I understand that unpredictable things can happen with landscaping....but there is no excuse to not have been called.
Friendly group. So many people, even some locals, dont know that this is a nursery. Signage is about as bad as it gets. Entrance for automobiles is very awkward. I can see why people drive right by before they even know its there. They probably end up at Watters Nursery. Major overhaul should be considered. Plants are OK, staff is helpful, despite the shortcomings.
Theyve helped us numerous times, both carry out and site-planted. The staff is friendly and helpful. Sometimes what really tells you about a business is how they respond when things dont go right: We lost one of our trees and expected to have to do some talking: Nope. Immediate credit. No questions asked. Well done!
Nice selection and reasonably priced. We went for annuals, perennials and trees.
Disappointed in the selection and lack of staff
Friendly and helpful.
Love this place always has everything I need, people are very helpful. 🥰
Young lady was very helpful.
Very nice selection of drought tolerant plants. They also have unique indoor plants that you dont see much.
I love shopping local - especially when the quality and customer service is great! Both exceeded my expectations. Mortimer Nursery is the only place I will buy plants, soil, and pots from! Suggest to all!
Great for local plants that will grow in this area. They are very knowledgable about what to do to keep plants healthy
We had our front yard landscaped by Mortimer in November 2015 when we built our new Dorn home. The staff was very friendly, however, provided very little insight as to what may work with our taste, budget, and local climate. The response was often whatever you want as I commented that Im not a landscaper and would love feedback/options. Communication from the beginning was poor, and the selection was limited. When our plants and trees were put in, we were told that while some of the plants didnt look as healthy as the others just call us and we can replace them if needed. Nearly two months after we moved in, we lost most of our plants in the front yard and weeds started popping up. We were told at our initial consultation that a felt liner would be placed below the rock as a weed barrier but as we investigated...no felt was to be found. Weve since noticed that some of our neighbors also didnt receive their felt liners. We had the majority of our cost wrapped up into our mortgage but made a few changes that we planned to pay ourselves. Prior to the landscaping being completed, we received quite a high bill that didnt seem accurate. We asked to have an itemized list of the costs so we could be sure of what we were paying for. We continued to receive this high estimate several different times and it took several phone calls and a trip to their office to receive a estimate in the correct amount. It is now the end of April 2016 and we have tried to contact Daniel, a field supervisor, several times in regards to getting the dead plants replaced, and weve yet to hear anything back. Weve called Daniel directly as instructed by him when he met with us upon completion of our landscaping to go over details of the irrigation system, and have not heard from him in over 2 months, I believe 5 calls in all. To get rid of the eye sore of our dead plants in the front yard, weve contacted another landscaping company who immediately contacted us and we are planning on moving forward to replace our dead plants in the front yard. Again, friendliness when weve gotten a hold of staff at Mortimer has been good but their selection, follow through, and customer service have been poor for us.
Staff is rude and and short with you. Staff did not know how to ring up items
I wasnt in the store 3 feet before asked if I needed any help. Received great suggestions and product for aphid problem. Also, cashier was most informative re: ladybugs.
Huge selection, wonderful people. The only problem that I had today was an elderly woman seemed irritated that I had my paper money from the last time I bought, she never even asked me my name for my rewards account
There is a great selection and super staff.
End of summer last year I purchased a plant that was described by the attendant as a Lilac. The Lilac season arrived - and no flowers. I checked the Mortimer label attached to the trunk and it says Privet. I should have done this before but you practically have to lay on the ground to read it. I called the nursery and told them about the mix up. I was told the manager would call me. 3 days later since nobody called I called and was told the manager, who would not even come to the phone, said the purchase was made over a year ago (not true), there was no receipt (true) so therefore they would not take any responsibility. My assessment: Bad management, untrained staff - a place to avoid.
Look forward to visiting when all the spring plants are available
Dont waste your time with this company. Extremely poor customer service and follow through. Put my name in for a pre-emergent spray and for 3 weeks I had to call trying to get it set up. Got different responses each time, was told oh you were set up a week ago didnt he call. After 3 wks decided Id had enough and called Gary Mortimer. His response when I told him was Well why dont you call someone else then!!!
Great place to buy plants, staff is fantastic
We’ve been dealing with Mortimer for 7 years, They have always been very helpful.
Staff is amazing! Plant material is beautiful!
It was great and the staff were wonderful.
Beautiful store and bought what I needed and the people where very helpful
One star is pushing it! I was told my rock order would be delivered mid-morning as I was 2nd on the delivery list. Ok, so I agree to that. As I wait for my delivery, I decide to check on it sometime around 11:30 AM, still mid- morning. I was told they will be here in half an hour...12:00 by my calculation, stepping over the mid- morning mark, but ok. At 1:00 PM still no rock as I sit outside waiting so I dont miss the truck. I call Mortimers back, hey, wheres my rock, it will be another hour or so, by my calculation 2:00PM. REALLY!! Next time I will most definately order my rockj & gravel from somewhere else! Dont waste your time, well, really thats all you will be doing.
Great customer service
Top quality service and products.
Good selection for organic gardening!
Worst customer service i have ever had from any business. I really do not think they know how to manage their operations. Zero response after I left two voice messages to have some work done. I guess they do not need the business. Id look elsewhere if you are considering work from Mortimers....aka Mortified.
Avoid this Nursery at all costs. Do yourself the favor.
Great service and informative
They have what you need.
3 times I called and 3 times I was told someone will contact me............. Still waiting. Very poor customer service. If I could post this with NO stars I would!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
