GREAT PLACEBest coffee shop in RI. And I have been to a LOT of coffee shops. Coffee is amazing, but their breakfast foods really blow you out of the water. Perfectly toasted bagels, their Lox and Bagel is a godsend, and their grilled cheese is extremely tasty. 5/5 all the way.
From beginning to end, you will not be disappointed here.
Solid lattes, tasty and well made. It can be pricey, but the staff is friendly and the clientele is good. Im not a huge fan of their black coffee, but their lattes are really good. The atmosphere is comfortable too, although the seating is only alright. The bookstore being attached is a huge plus if you just want to relax,of course.
Love Blue State! Great coffee, best chai lattes around, and good food as well. Plus, the staff people are always super friendly, and the company supports tons of great local organizations. No reason to go to Starbucks when this is practically next door!
I know coffee. Or at least I think I am. So for my knowledge, the coffee here is very good. full of taste and not watery. Coffee that keeps you going. Many tough days started here, and some also ended. Love Blue State.
Love this cafe... Great organic coffee n lattes, hot chocolate, have alternative milk options and vegan option food items... Good service... They give part of their prophets to local community organizations n projects to help people animals n community... Great place...
Great busy coffee spot on Thayer st. They have great staff and good food. They do make everything fresh so dont worry about customizing! Their vegan options are plentiful and super good. The cowboy cookie is nutritious well also being super delicious! The coffee and espresso drinks are roasted perfectly and always fresh.
Coffee met expectations for any other local cafe that serves 20 oz for $5 but sadly the crew did not meet the quality of the brew. Being waited on while texting, no big deal except he had to finish his message before he waited on me. Coffee was a delight though.
Nice choices of coffee and food items. More spacious inside than I expected. easy access from Brown University and anybody hanging out in the area. great to grab a coffee here and go for a walk in the area.
Great coffee! Love it.
Favorite coffee spot in providence!Drink: iced dirty chai. They make probably the best one Ive ever had. Delicious and their double shot addition to it is all you need to be your most productive!Snack: their apple cinnamon oatmeal with skim milk is the perfect snack for either breakfast or an afternoon treat. Delicious!Eat: tofu sandwich or their grilled cheese with tomato on cranberry walnut bread! Best possible choices ever! Delicious and they make me feel healthy - happy benefit!
The coffee place to support and make sure it beats the ever engulfing trend of commercialization of Thayer street. Good coffee and other stuff, and good atmosphere. One recommendation: please put a sign on the toilets reminding customers to close the door after exiting. Theres a table right by the toilet door, and somehow 90% of customers are not considerate enough to do so on their own, and its quite rude toward the patrons sitting by that table.
Good coffee! Staff changes frequently and I have had some no so nice interactions in the past. Great place to get some work done. They have expanded thier menu to include more food now so, feel free to spend all day!
Very good beans that are recently roasted, not to mention the friendly, knowledgeable baristas and tasty drinks. A good place for a meeting or a quick change of scenery.
Nice place to seat in and relax in the middle of the day. The Banana Peanut Butter Chocolate smoothie is tasty! Its not the best coffee shop in Providence, but it is a really convenient location near/on the brown campus. Also, its crowded usually, and thats not make the place relaxing at all!
Love their hummus and bagel chips. Soooo good!!It is a nice and cozy place. Good people.
One of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had.
From hot to cold the coffee here is bold and delicious ready to be served by an extremely friendly employee!
Good coffee, and their charity donations chips are definitely a reason to go there. Would recommend to a out of town person or a college student.
Went into Blue State Coffee five minutes from closing and ordered a coffee. They had already put away the roast I had ordered, so to compensate, they offered me a larger drink for the same price. This made my day! The staff was very friendly and the coffee was amazing. Would recommend this place to anyone.
A little pricey but worth it if you want good quality coffee. Staff is always wonderful and theres something so peaceful about the atmosphere in there.
Always great people and good, with a capital G, coffee. Staff trains and u see and hear it. They tend to be hipsters. Atmosher is more urban hangout than coffee shop look. Great for that bus or simple treat to go with it.
One of my favorite places to come after a run! I always get a mixed berry smoothie, its a bonus you can add protein powder to your smoothie. They also carry the gluten free bars and theyre delicious! Great atmosphere always!
Cute, friendly cafe in a vibrant Providence neighborhood. Food selection was broad enough to find something for everyone without trying too hard. Each dish I saw looked (& smelt) great. Thanks for a great experience & showing your business support for #charlottesville!
Great spot for a quick bite or beverage. I do wish they still offered their chocolate chip blondies though the peanut butter ones are also good.
Coffee is delicious. The staff is nice. There is free WiFi but not enough plugs for laptop work
I ordered an iced mocha and the drink was not good at all. The chocolate powder they used was not completely dissolved and that made the iced coffee not enjoyable. Regarding the place, music selection is nice and chairs are comfortable.
Good coffee, decent food, but service was a tad slow
Great coffee but it took them 26 minutes to deliver my toasted plain bagel with cream cheese ... pretty ridiculous
Love their relaxed atmosphere. They also use wooden tokens to make donations to various organizations. Fun place to hang out for coffee in the summer as well.
Very good coffee, you can taste the freshness.
Coffee is fine, but the volume and choice of headbanging rock music is enough to not want to come here. Also the bathroom is not that clean. The floor was sticky today. Let me add that service is absolutely atrocious here depending on whos working. The owner should really watch the staff undercover and thin the heard. Some of the employees are SERIOUSLY hurting your business. Ive left waiting for a beverage. First on line. Not busy and Ive never seen someone care less about service or not taking the longest time humanly possible to make a coffee. I literally was in disbelief. Other staff kill it. But you just never know who youll get on what day at which Blue State.
I love Blue State coffee! But Im biased, I met my wife there. Its a really good coffee shop with a conscience; they make monthly charitable donations and allow the customers to vote on which charities.
Marred slightly by the non-stop 90s music.Otherwise a good coffee. Can get busy in university term.
Great espresso drinks, one of my top five in Providence. Lots of room to sit and work, with some comfy chairs if you can snag them.
Very nice Latte and good service, despite the fact I had my Cornell hat on ;)
Best tasting hand crafted lattes. Friendly baristas. Hopping spot on the Brown Campus. Donates to charities.
Great atmosphere, good coffee, and light food. Tables are most likely taken by undergrads, but if you can get one it is a nice place to go work.
Great teas and coffees and a very cute outdoor seating area :)
Multiple times of specifically ordering triple shot, quad shot, or other espressos, Ive been given single-shot drinks where the barista is always surprised and my cup has no markings whatsoever to reflect my order. Im tired of paying for incorrect drinks that arent even fixed to match the charged price once the issue is raised.
Good coffee. Vegan options in the baked goods and on the menu. Efficient service in spite of the busy location.
Awesome coffee. Freshly baked treats and lovely salads
Very friendly barista, think her name was Gabby. Good coffee.
They pretty much make the best cappuccino that money can buy :)
I have purchased maybe two things here in my life, but it always smells delicious and makes me want to read more books. Note: only place on campus where one can find raw kombucha.
Cozy place with damn good breakfast
Good place to pick up a coffee or get some work done if you are able to find a seat here.
Exceptional coffee and customer service.
Free wifi, great coffee, and a nice location! Take advantage of the outdoor seating when the weather is nice.
Food is overpriced. Coffee is overrated
Good cold brew, especially for the east coast. Original 3rd wave coffee joint for the choosey, but down-to-earth.
Good place to work, good coffee and they donate for charity and even let you vote which one it is gonna be.
Nice spot for coffee / bagels / pastries. Short walk from the Brown swim pool.
Cool spot with good coffee, conveniently on Thayer and plenty of seating inside and out. Not necessarily a quite spot, if thats what youre looking for, conversation encouraged.
Its attached to the Brown University Bookstore. So if you dont fit the criteria people pretty much just stare at you. Very uncomfortable
First, awesome coffee, second nice food, third, amazing for how they help locally.
Excellent coffee. Good service.
Good iced coffee.
A college hill favorite, Blue State Coffee has become a breeding ground for Brown and RISD collegiates alike. On any given day of the week, Blue State is filled to the brim with students plugging away at their work work (or on Facebook), and it is not uncommon to have to wait a few minutes for a spot to free up.Strangely, my personal favorite item on the menu is the Chickpea Tuna, which is outrageously priced @ $2.00 for a side, but incredibly addicting. Otherwise very reasonably priced, Blue State is also notorious for its jitter inducing iced coffee and offerings of bread from local bakeries / other snacks like yogurt and bagels. I will always give Blue State Five stars as it truly represents the Brown students predicament of whether or not to disappear into social anonymity in the library, or to study/see and be seen in Blue State (subtract a letter grade from score if you chose latter option).
One of Providences best coffee shops. Great coffee and plenty of places to sit.
Great place for good coffee and tables to work
Very good hot chocolate, a quiet place to work or grab a morning bite. Friendly staff and clean establishment.
The treatment by staff is the only thing making up for the microwaved meals and lack of supply. You never know if they will actually have the item in stock you are looking to purchase. No reason to offer a menu if half the items on it aren’t for sale.
So much better than Dunkin!
Better than starbucks
A fun coffee place that encourages conversation.
Coffee, service, and seating are good. I think the food is a little overpriced but the drinks are quite reasonable.
Fabulous coffee. Try the dark roast!
Great coffee, great food, great service!
Great comfy place for coffee
Great coffee, great corporate culture.
The coffee is pretty good; the atmosphere is great; the people are nice. Get the chai tea latte.
Great. coffee and atmosphere both are great
The staff nice and the coffee and cookies are good!
Great coffee, great staff, great place to work. Dont forget to vote!
Great iced coffee. Crowded.
Nice quiet spot for coffee and work
Great drinks and great service :-)
Best coffee shop in Thayer st., ..., friendly staff.
Good coffee, and very civic minded
~$4 for quad espresso. Wish it was $3.19 like Starbucks.
Best coffee Ive ever had!!
Pretty decent coffee
Little pricy and decent coffee for price
Excellent coffee and tea
Nice place!
Good cup!
Very good coffee
Lovely place!e
Great coffee, great atmosphere
